Cody was absolutely stunned about seeing that his own best friend was the son of his now most hated enemy. Does that mean he and Tylers' friendship is permanently over? Does it mean Tyler is helping his thumper of a father against his possibly now former-best friend? All of this thinking was making his head hurt. Was there anyone on Earth he can trust anymore?
No. No. he had known Tyler for a long time and he knew that he would never try to hurt or betray Cody like this.
Knowing each other since kindergarten, Cody and Tyler were like brothers. Like an inseparable pair of boys who would always stand up together against the whole evil world. Before coming back down here to Hell, Cody remembered the look of worry and remorse on Tyler's face. Yet again, he was shocked at the fact that his best friend was adopted by a demon. Would he listen to his pompous, pious, pretentious preacher of a father? Or would he at least listen to Cody and understand that Hell is (mostly) incorrect about what Christians, Jews, Islams, or other religions say about it? Perhaps Loona and the gang can kill Belmont and his friends or followers, since the demons are far more powerful than humans. Cody was starting to imagine Loona ripping off Belmont's arms off without ease since Hellhounds have brute strength that would make Dwayne Johnson, or Hulk Hogan be put to shame.
Looking out the window and listening to the usual ambience (with the usual cars honking or usual random bickering outside of the apartment complex, it seemed pretty normal down here in Hell. Taking in another deep breath, Cody wondered if he should do some more Yoga with Loona and Tilla.
Coming in his room, Loona gently patted the kid's shoulder. "Kiddo?"
"Yeah?" asked the kid.
"You ok?"
"I can't believe that Mr. Belmont is Tyler's dad." Cody looked at her. "Of all people? Why couldn't his dad have been a professional football player, or a wrestler, or an MMA fighter? But it sounded like he is unhappy with his dad being like that."
"I guess he isn't your friend anymore."
"Why not?"
"Because his self-righteous dad is corrupting him against you." Loona pointed. "I mean, those kind of people will do anything to 'spread the word of God', whether people want to believe in him or not. Those people won't rest until everyone in the world is converted."
"I know. I wish you would at least make him leave me alone. Scaring him didn't work."
"Heh, he is scared alright." Loona chuckled. "But he is demented and completely misguided about you."
Cody let out a sigh. "True, he doesn't know how to make friends. But i need to help Tyler, and save him from his dad."
"wait a minute, wait a minute," said Loona. "I know he is your best friends, but; demon code prohibits us from interfering with human affairs like that."
"But you saved me from the fire when my mom and dad died." Cody pointed. "Doesn't that count as meddling?"
"Right..." Loona said. "But I couldn't leave you to die in there. I heard you crying for help and I needed to save you." she took a breath. "Normally, I would just leave some poor sap to die, but... you're a kid, and... you reminded me of myself when I had no parents and... when Blitzo adopted me." she sounded a little bitter about the last part she said. "But it doesn't mean I am grateful for him taking me here in the first place."
"He cares about you, Loona."
"I know." Loona had her eyes closed. "But I would still love to met my own parents, wherever they are."
"Look, maybe... maybe you can find them one day." said Cody. "They might be happy to see you."
"Heh. Maybe I could do that, but... for now, you're all the family I need." she hugged him close to her, making the boy touched to be given affection like this. Nothing was better than being embraced by his foster sister. "If it makes you happy, we can take a look at what Belmont is even planning and see what is going on."
"Normally... i'm not one to spy on people, but Belmont is getting scary now." Cody admitted. "Tyler mentioned something about an... angel that his dad is friends with."
"An... angel?" said Loona, looking a little concerned. "That does sound suspicious. You probably know this, Cody, but... demons and angels don't really see eye to eye. Like how we met the Cherubs before."
"Right." Cody remembered. "But who is this angel?"
"Good question."
It was just then Blitzo came at the door and asked: "Hey! What's going on in here?" in a sing-song voice. "Did I miss anything?"
"Well, Blitzo, i think that this whole Belmont thing might be bigger than we thought."
Blitzo made a frown. "What do you mean, Loony?"
"Belmont might be friends with an Angel."
"Oh fu- i mean, oh heck no!" Blitzo said. "Not an Angel. Is it Cherubs?"
"No. But I don't know what it is." said the female hellhound. "But, we should get the other guys for a meeting about it."
"Got it." Blitzo pulled out his phone to call Moxxie, Millie, and Stolas, while Loona pulled out her phone to call Tex, Crymini, Crystal, and Serena about the whole thing. When they all gathered in the apartment, Loona was the one to come up and speak. Blitzo was really proud of her for being a leader in this, like he is the leader of the Immediate Murder Professionals. "Now if everyone can please shut up for a moment please. Let my Loony-Toony speak."
"Blitzo!" Loona growled. "Not in front of everyone." she cleared her throat. "Now listen losers, Cody said that Belmont is working with an Angel. Maybe that's the reason why he knows about Hell."
"Impossible." said Stolas. "There was a treaty that says angels and demons are not allowed to interfere with one another after Jesus was ressurrected."
"Well it's what Cody's best friend on Earth mentioned before coming down here after I picked him up from school." Loona said.
"Why does his best friend on Earth know?" Moxxie asked.
Loona was silent and finally said. "I think Cody can answer that for you." she signaled Cody to come on up and explain this about Tyler. When he explained to them about his best friend being the son of his possible now-most hated enemy, his demon friends were as equally surprised as Cody when he found out. "Yeah, Tyler is the son of modern-day Jim Jones." Loona sighed. "So this could be a problem. And if what he says about his dad being friends with an angel being true, then we are in deep sh- i mean, a heavy pickle."
"If you want my advice," said Moxxie. "Maybe you should stay away from Tyler, Cody. He knows too much."
"I'll get my battle ax and hack him to pieces." Millie said. "There can be no other witnesses."
"What?!" Cody exclaimed. "No! I don't want you to kill Tyler. He is my best friend! Well... maybe not my best friend anymore, but i don't want him to die! And, besides, he doesn't sound very happy that Mr. Belmont is his dad. I can tell how sad he was before leaving with Loona. I wish that this was all just a dream, and my normal life on Earth can go back to the way it used to be without his dad ruining everything for me." he turned away.
"We know it's so much for you to take in, Cody." said Octavia. "But maybe you should stay away from Tyler for your own safety."
"What if we can help Tyler?" asked Cody.
"Look, if we all want to get to the bottom of this," said Loona, "Then we should see what Mr. Belmont is planning. Cody is off from school tomorrow since it's Saturday, so we can follow Tyler without him noticing and look at what is really going on."
"But you guys won't kill him, will you?" asked Cody.
Millie pulled out her ax for a brief moment before Moxxie put it away. "Millie." Moxxie said. "Come on, Cody says he doesn't want him to die."
"Just trying to help him out, Mox-Mox." Millie said.
"Well, if you're not careful," said Tex. "You're worst enemy can be your own best friend."
"A good point." said Blitzo. He was thinking of Fizzaroli, although Blitzo was the first to hurt him years ago.
"How are we gonna look at this Angel without Tyler or his dad seeing us?" Cody asked
"We'll need the perfect disguise." said Crystal.
"Something no one will ever suspect." said Serena.
"I have just the perfect idea for it!" Stolas sang.
The next day, Tyler was walking out of the ice cream parlor and having a cupcake cone on him as he was walking. Little did he know that a group of people were watching him from something inconspicous that it would fool anyone. Turns out, Cody, Loona, Moxxie, and Millie were huddled together in a moving bush. "This is the genius idea Stolas came up with?" Loona whispered angrily.
"Don't look at me." said Millie. "I am not Stolas
"you should blame Blitzo too." Moxxie said. "Try not to get your breath on me, Loona. It smells like feet."
The female hellhound looked angry. "Excuse me, fuckwad?! You want me to tear you in half?"
"Just try it." Moxxie said. "I've grown stronger."
"You? Don't make me laugh."
"Guys! Not in front of the kid, remember?" Millie reminded.
"Sorry." Both Loona and Moxxie said. They moved in a safe distance near Tyler without them getting caught, and every time Cody's best friend turned around, the four hiding inside the bush would just keep still and continue moving as soon as Tyler would continue walking down the street. A few drivers were noticing and weren't looking on in front of them, accidentally crashing into random obstacles. Nevertheless, despite how much of a hassle, the bush made it to Tyler's house, and Loona tried seeing through one of the windows.
"Psst!" said a male voice from the right. It was Blitzo, hiding in another bush with Vortex. It was a bigger bush than the other four were hiding in since Tex had a very muscular body. "Can you try not to have your ass next to mine, bodybuilder?" said blitzo
"What? It's not my fault. You're the one squirming around in here." Tex said
"just don't fart and or shart on me."
"What? Why would I do that?" Said the male hellhound confused.
"Guys, quiet. We're undercover." Said Moxxie.
"Let's see what's going on." Cody whispered. Silent, the group listened and Moxxie was using binoculars to take a closer look at this.
"Ah, there you are, Tyler." Said Mr. Belmont. "Did you find your way alright, son?"
"I... I did dad. There was a couple of cars crashing for some reason."
"Ah, some people are just reckless fools who have no awareness on any given danger." Belmont brushed off. "You cannot save everyone, son."
"You told me that many times before, dad."
"Ah, he is always an over-precautionary kind of man." Said another voice. It was Adam, who was walking in the room with Lute.
Moxxie looked shocked to see this stranger. "Oh my fucking god." He breathed in disbelief
"What?" said Loona.
"It's Adam."
"The Adam?" Millie sounded as equally shocked as her husband.
"You don't mean," Loona said
"Yep, we're fucked up." Blitzo said. "The exorcist leader working with Cody's newest sworn enemy."
"Who is this guy?" Asked Cody.
"That's Adam." Tex said. "He is the leader of the Exorcists Angels. One of the most dangerous beings in existence."
"He and his followers are responsible for keeping the population of Hell in check from overpopulating." Loona added.
Cody remembered Charlie mentioning that to him when he first met her. This guy was the leader of those so-called Angels? This was definitely more serious than he thought. If Mr. Belmont is working with him, and the DHORK agents, then he truly is fucked.
