Harry read the note he had received from Hermione again. It had directed him to a little used and isolated section of the castle. He had checked to make certain it was from Hermione and looking on the Marauder's map to see if she was in that room. Determining it wasn't a trick from Draco or one of his cronies to distract from whatever scheme Draco was up to Harry snuck out of the dorm and hurried to that room.
Entering the darkened room he started to cast a lumos when he heard Hermione's voice say, "Wait a second Harry."
"Hermione?"
"Yes Harry. I've spent the summer thinking about what happened at the Ministry. About how things have been over the last few years and what could have happened. So I came to a decision."
Harry swallowed. This was it she was going to tell him to bugger off and never have anything to do with him again. For some reason this made him feel like he had his broom decide to stop flying. He managed to stammer out, "What kind of decision?"
The lights suddenly came on in the room revealing Hermione who was mostly wearing a tight red leather outfit. Her hair was long and silky red. Harry's breath caught in his chest as she looked smolderingly at him. "The decision I made was that you and I should be together Harry."
Harry's mind stopped. It spun around, dropped down to his feet then crawled back into his skull sideways as he processed the vision in front of him,a dding the words together he said in a surprised whisper, "Together? As in together together?"
Hermione smiled nervously, "Yeah. As in."
"But , But I didn't think you liked me that way. This way. Like that." He said slowly walking closer as a moth to the flame. He realized his mouth and brain had stopped communicating clearly but that was okay as the rest of his body seemed to still be functioning.
"I wasn't sure you liked me like that. You had a crush on Cho then Ron keeps saying you and Ginny are going to get together. Something Ginny doesn't disagree with. So i thought since you like redheads and long hair I'd use some transfiguration to make myself more appealing to you."
Harry looked at her abashed, "You already were appealing to me. I just didn't know how to tell you. I thought you'd not like me and we'd stop being friends."
"You liked me the way i was?" Hermione was shocked. Her bushy mousy brown hair and plain figure, with her school teacher wardrobe made her think she would be lucky to catch the eye of any guy at all.
"Yeah. You looked nice, and I dunno red hair reminds me of my mum which is kinda creepy." Harry said with a nervous shrug.
"Oh. So you want me to go back to myself?"
Harry grinned at her, "All but the clothes. You can keep them."
"And as for us getting together? What do you say?" She asked. Grinning nervously.
Harry was close enough he put his hands on her hips and pulled her close, kissing her deeply and passionately until they had to break apart for air he said softly, "I say yes."
