Adam Pov
When I say, that the urge to start making monkey noises is too much. Will people believe me? Well, depends if they actually know how it feels, so yeah.
I am currently holding the urge to start making noise, as I sneak in one of the windows of said establishment, I plan on stealing from. Which also happens to be both a Jewelry Shop and a Clothing Shop. Safe to say, I am and will be enjoying my time stealing some gold to be melted down and sell to another city.
I moved from one ceiling joints to another. All the while keeping my eye on the store's patrons and workers. I then noticed a pearl necklace close to one of the support beams, and I quickly made my way there.
Double checking the people, to make sure they are distracted. I swiftly and nimbly swung down, and with my elongated pair of Capuchin arms. Grabbing the pearl necklace off the mannequin, is like taking candy from a baby.
Though the pearls making some clacking sounds, did alert some of the workers. But they ignored it... Which is odd and concerning.
I then made my way on to the roof to deposit the necklace, before coming back to snatch another precious piece.
My eyes landed on a diamond ring. But the damn thing is near exposed, and protected by a glass casing. So I decided to be smart and ignored it.
"This is going to be harder than I thought" It pains me to say this but... I am no Thief. I may lie and cheat, but stealing was never one of my stronger traits.
But, since this is just for extra money. I can't really do much, other than hunting. As I doubt some tavern or Inn, will allow a nobody like me to work under them. That and I just want to steal things.
With a mental sigh, I stretched and started playing the Mission Impossible theme song in my head.
Success! I managed to steal at least fifteen pieces of jewelry. And ten of them Gold pieces. So I can smelt them down, turn them to small bars, and sell then to the next city or town over.
The other five were gems and some pearls. I got an Emerald Ring... The damn emerald is as big as the thickest part of my pinky finger. Two rubies that are perfectly cut, and the last two. Are the pearl necklace, and a set of black pearl earrings. Goddamn, for a growing city, they do have quite the industry already.
I am already on my Human form, after finding a desolate alley to transform in. To which I decided to go back to the Inn I rented a room from, as it was already seven in the evening. I love having my phone still. Though the question is... How could I charge it? Though if I think about it, I can probably turn my crank up flashlight as a charger. I mean... It's possible if I get the necessary tools. But I'll do that tomorrow. For now, I need to store my stolen goods and take a night stroll... As a Microraptor. Cause why not?
I arrived at the Inn I am staying at, and got greeted by the Tavern owner. A large burly man, with arms thick enough to be called a tree. Oh, and He has a daughter the same age as me.
"Welcome back, Adam. How was your tour of the city?" He asked, a large smile plastered on his face.
"Well, I sold the remaining Buck for some silver, almost got ran over by a runaway horse, got some local pastries, which I loved the sweetbread by the way. Just wonderful. Oh, and just witnessed the aftermath of a robbery. Some guy apparently stole from some rich Merchant, and the Guards are trying to solve the case"
I lied... But I did not lie about the sweetbread. The damn thing just hits different.
"Haha! Glad you liked Greg's work. He and his wife took years to perfect their craft, and it even has garnered the attention of the local Nobles! A hit for their children. Also, a rather unfortunate thing, yeah? Hope the thief gets caught soon" He continued, though the way he said the last part, is way too scary. But I managed to keep my cool.
"Yeah, say. I was wondering, what's the next town over?" I asked, and my blood ran cold when he told me the name of the place.
"Hm? Oh, you heading for Lescatie? It'll take you more than a week if you're not travelling by horse, and a little under if you are. We're a Border City, similar to Lescatie, but less influenced by The Order and in my opinion? Those priests needs to get laid" Ok, that last part is funny... And true in a sense.
"Ah, that's why I heard yesterday's news about a sudden Vampire Hunt when they found out, that one of the Nobles were a Vampire" I added, to which he nodded.
"Yeah, but to be completely frank. The Vampire didn't even do anything, and she has lived here for years before getting outed. Damn, Madam Guinevere was a usual patron of our Inn for the food too" He sounded extra dejected for the last part. Seems like the Vampire has taken a liking to this Inn's delicacies, and I don't blame her.
But, that ain't gonna kick me down. They may have the experience, but I'm stubborn as fuck. So one day, I will build a restaurant that will beat every other eateries in this damned place, out of this world! Hoohaa!
Time to get my Culinary Training to work once I find a suitable place to live. And preferably somewhere out of Order and Sabbath territory, pretty much somewhere in between.
"I see, thank you sir. I'll go see the local markets for a map tomorrow. For now, I'm getting a plate of some bread, mashed potatoes, and mead" I said after thanking the man.
"Heh, pretty heavy for Dinner, but you do you kid. Sarah! A plate of Mashed Potatoes, bread, and mead!" He yelled towards the back, where a high pitched "Yes Sir" answered.
"I'll take my seat over there, and here's for the food" I said, giving him the appropriate amount of money. Which barely leaves me with some, just two silvers and five copper coins left.
The man happily took the money, and resumed work on the counter. While I, made my way over at a secluded part of the tavern, as to not gather any attention to myself... Which isn't doing much as my clothes still garnered the attention of some of the men with the high chance of them being thieves and mercenaries.
I quietly hummed to myself, all the while tapping the tune of "Until I Found Her" on the table, as I wait for my dinner.
"Nice song you got there, stranger" A woman wearing a cloak said, after approaching me. "Mind if I take a seat?"
Oh well, if she's a Mamono, better get a good impression then ding dong ditch the bitch. Just in case she the more "Greedy" type... Which I don't mind cause reasons, but I ain't ready to lose my Humanity yet.
"Sure, just a question though. Why?" I asked with no hostility.
"Hm, well. I would be lying if I said there are no other available seats, no?" She joked. "Just curious about the song you've been humming for the past minute"
"Hah, I suppose I can tell you. I made it myself... A small reminder of a past I once had" A bit half truth. "What are you? Some wandering Bard?"
"Well, you could say that. Although, I'm more of a Traveler myself. So I couldn't help but overhear your conversation with the Inn owner" She replied, a bit of edge on her voice.
"Well, I suppose we have something in common. But that doesn't answer my question" I told her, eyes narrowing in suspicion.
"That is true. Very well, I'm looking for someone to hire as my escort to Lescatie. And as you can see, the patrons of this Inn isn't exactly... Friendly so to say" She carefully eyed the crowd, making sure no one is listening to us.
"I see, then what makes you think I can help you with that?" My gut is telling me that something is amiss here.
"Well, you are a Hunter aren't you? I am quite certain my current wares would last me and my friend for four days. But after hearing your talk with the Innkeeper, I doubt we could ration just enough to make it to Lescatie" She replied, no changes in her tone.
"Friend?"
"Yes, She and I have been traveling since last week. We've been joining caravans and other groups of travelers for safe passage, but the ones here doesn't plan in moving to an Order controlled city" She placed a hand under her chin.
"I see. This friend of yours? Couldn't she hunt for the both of you?"
"She could, but our path reaches outside the Order's protection. I'm afraid that we would be encountering Monsters, and she is the only one capable of fighting them off in this small group of ours... If you accept of course" She replied, a more serious tone took over her voice.
"Hm, very well. I suppose it isn't a bad thing to have companions to watch my back, whenever there is a Monster attack. Alright, what time are we leaving tomorrow?" I accepted, but still am suspicious of the woman.
"As soon as dawn breaks" She removed her hood, and I was greeted by a woman of exceptional beauty. Black hair that cascades down to her back, a pair of purple eyes that shone like amethyst, and full lips. "You can call me Ella"
She reached out her hand for a handshake, and I took with hesitation. As soon as I touched her, I felt no ill feelings. Which is a good sign.
"Adam" I shook her hand, and that was when we were cut off by my order finally arriving.
"Oooh, what have you been hunting lately, mister?" I am tempted to punt the damn girl with a thin stick... Well, whip her with it, but I'll only do that if I end up with a submissive and breedable Mamono for a wife.
Ok, let's not get too kinky right there.
"Listen, while I get it that you're curious. I am not that much of a morning person, and I'd prefer to not be bombarded by repeat questions the entire day. Capiche?" I metaphorically place my foot down, doing my best to disinterest the girl from questioning me.
"Aw, but we're allies! We cant not get to know each other!" Ok, she pouts adorably, but I must not be swayed too early.
The female in question is just a tad shorter than me... an inch or two, but I couldn't tell because of that sorry excuse of a leather helmet she's wearing. She has pinkish hair that is cut short, bright baby blue eyes, and fair/borderline tan skin.
She's wearing what a DnD player would associate a Ranger, except for the leather cap she's wearing, and the fact that she uses a damn sword.
"We do that later, for now. I need to sleep walk... Well, walk without any sense of thought, because I'm tired still, and I want sleep... I regret accepting that we stride at dawn" I complained, making the two giggle.
"You heard the man, Abby. Let's keep the interrogation for later" Ella came to my rescue, which I gave her an appreciative nod. To which she returned with a short giggle.
"Aww, too bad. Oh well, I guess I need to be more alert then" She said, while somewhat dejected, she hadn't lost too much pep in her.
"How do you put up with her?" I asked Ella, making sure to keep my voice down.
"Lots and lots of experience and patience" She replied, a fond smile on her face.
"Good for you then" I told her, resigned and dreading for the upcoming storm of questions later on.
As we traveled, I couldn't help but remember the uneasiness back when I was in that forest. The fact that these two soon appeared, after I left the forest was also just giving me the wrong vibes. But, since they haven't done anything yet, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
The day went by quickly, and in the afternoon where we spent under a tree for some rest. Abby has started her assault.
"So, what the reason you want to go to Lescatie?" I groaned internally.
"New place, new beginning. All that fun stuff" I answered, ignoring the pout she's giving me.
"Why, did something happen back at your old place?"
"Yes, and that's all you get"
"How about your family?"
I paused when she asked me that question. A notion none of them didn't miss.
"That's something private" I replied "And I won't be answering anymore questions"
We all went quiet, while I continued playing with my knife. The tension is thick, more so when Abby kept giving me concerned looks, and Ella grimacing.
"Listen, you two didn't know. So I can't blame you... Just be mindful of your questions, next time" I told them, which eased up the tension a bit. But the apprehensive air still remained.
"I'm sorry, I should've seen the possibilities. Living in small villages isn't the best" Abby apologized, genuine and sincere.
I waved her off.
"Like I said, you didn't know. So no need to apologize, I... I already accepted the fact that I would never see them again" Ella's expression didn't change much, as her grimace returned in full force. I guess she doesn't like the notion of losing someone close to her.
"Anyway, lets get going. We've already rested enough" I said, and they all nodded.
Three days. Nothing much has happened, until this.
"Now, get down and we won't hurt anyone, got it? Just hand over any valuables you have, and we won't resort to violence" A Bandit, their leader spoke with a neutral face. Meanwhile his goons, are less than decent human beings with how disgusting the way they look at both Abby and Ella.
"You heard the Boss! Hand over your money, weapons, and anything valuable!" A bandit with a crooked nose and rotting teeth said. A savage smile adorning his ruined face.
"It's a six against three, two considering Ella isn't a fighter. You won't stand a chance" I told Abby, who was about to draw her sword.
A round of snickering came from the goons. Their creepy smiles coming right after in full force.
"Smart move" The leader complimented, as Abby releases her grip on her sword hilt.
"We don't have much on us, only this and nothing more" I told them, showing the small coin sachet I made from the leather of the Buck I caught back then.
The leader nodded at me, and I threw the sachet at the goon closest to the leader. And judging by the look of disappointment he had. He didn't like the amount in it.
"Fuck! We didn't get a good haul Boss, these guys barely have money in their pockets" The goon said, earning a scowl from his Boss.
"Search the women" He ordered, and his mens smiles returned.
As two idiots came close, I gave a stern warning to one of them, when he tried grabbing something Ella doesn't like getting touched. And by warning, I mean a kick to his balls.
A girl's squeak is what I received from the dumbass.
"Damnit Fred!" The right hand man of the Boss sighed and cringed at the sight.
"I only allowed searching, not groping. One wrong move and I'll personally castrate anyone with a stop to their balls" I warned, garnering some appropriate responses from the bandits.
One of the idiots decided it was a bright idea to draw their weapons, swords and daggers gleamed in the afternoon sun. As I merely scoffed at the sight.
Having a new body, means that I have better stats overall. And judging by their lanky frames, I can easily take down the idiots, and will have an equal fight with their boss without transforming.
"Heh, the tough guy thinks he's tough" I repressed the urge to groan at the dumbass that spoke.
"You said it earlier, you lose to us" Another cocky bastard spoke. This time, annoying me.
"Then why don't you fuck around and find out?" I taunted. That garnered the idiot that spoke to charge at me.
I dodged a sloppy stab to my chest, and I grabbed his overextended arm. I then promptly hoisted him up with barely any effort, and slam him on the ground head first, just enough to knock him out.
"Next" I said, goading the idiots to attack me recklessly. Which worked.
Two more charged at me, and another at Abby. Who now raised her sword to fight alongside me.
I ducked a swipe from the one on my left, and tripped the one on my right. Causing the idiot at my right to stumble on his ally, making them lose their balance.
I then kicked one of them away, and delivered a strong enough punch to break his teeth in at the guy laying on his back.
That also knocked him out, and the guy that I kicked away has recovered and tried to stab me on my back. But his screaming told me how close he was. So I sidestepped him, grabbed him by the waist, and german suplexed him for the knockout.
"Bunch of idiots you have here"
The boss only sighed, suggesting he knew this would happen.
"While I agree, I don't think we could just live and forget this" He replied, standing up from the rock he was sitting on.
"Your funeral" I replied, dropping to a boxer stance, as I didn't really need to use my ability to keep my facade up. Before he could charge, I heard a grunt from Abby and found her knocking out her bandit.
"You're distracted!" I heard him yell... Fucking idiot.
I dodged his fist, which I now just noticed having a bronze knuckle duster between his fingers. So a brawler, I guess I can use this as an opportunity to test out my new body it's limit-
"Gaaahh!!!!"
Or I kick him below the belt. As soon as he toppled over, I began castrating him by punching his balls again and again, causing everyone around us to cringe. Including Abby and Ella.
"This one is for targeting us"
*Smack*
"This one is for actually going through with the plan without much thought"
*Smack*
"This one if for not reigning in your idiots"
*Smack*
"And this? This is for the idiot that tried molesting a woman"
*SMACK!*
I added an extra oomph by changing my muscle density by double. Allowing for a slower, yet heavier punch.
"I may not be the most upstanding person in the world, but I do not like and despise Molesting, Nonconsensual activities, and Rape. NTR if you're into specifics"
I kicked him over to his right hand man, who is crying and covering his jewels.
"Get him a healer ASAP if you want to keep his dignity as a man" I turned around to leave, only to get an idea and turned back, much to the man's fear.
"Before I forget, I'll be taking our money and yours now"
He tried to resist, but cracking a single finger like how Kaneki would, reminded him of what I would do again. With that, he promptly gave up all their valuables, including some new weapons of choice.
I then moved close to his ear and whispered.
"If I find you stooges doing this shit again, I will personally hunt you all down. One by one, and castrate you all in more ways than one. Trust me when I say, a nutcracker will be the last one to suck your balls"
The man peed himself out of fear, before scrambling with the others who are now awake, away from us.
I turned around, a smile on my face, and a large sack of money in my hands.
"Now, let's get back to traveling. Yeah?"
I barely got a response from the two, but that'll do.
End.
