Where Are They Now – Sanji

/A Rainbow Coloured Island Somewhere In The New World/

When Sanji had awoken, the first thing he did was question his sanity. Everything was pink, literally pink. The trees, the grass, the animals, the rocks and even the water. All pink.

Speaking of the animals, he noticed there was something … odd, something he would not discover until later. The male animals acted very feminine for some reason, though he could not figure out why.

Two days later though, he figured it out as he finally ran into the people who lived here on this island of pink and rainbows. After running through the pink forest, he stumbled upon a pink city with a pink castle in the distance with a rainbow going over it, but then he saw them…

The island was entirely populated by Okama.

He had been spotted almost immediately with the local residents almost immediately trying to convert him into one of them. Naturally, he fought back and ran, which led to the current events taking place.

"Sanji darling, don't you want to try on this pretty dress we picked out for you," one of the Okama cooed as they chased him alongside a bunch of other equally excited Okama. "Its nice and frilly, very free and liberating!"

"LIKE HELL," Sanji snapped back as he continued to run before an Okama cut him off, coming seemingly out of nowhere as they landed in front of him, creating a giant crater. "Shit-!?"

Quickly changing direction, he noticed this Okama was much larger than the others and was also holding a dress. He knew he couldn't fight them all as they seemed to be rather strong for some reason.

"Sanji darling, please come back," the massive Okama cried as they began to chase after him as well, also holding a dress. "I picked this one out especially for you!"

Sanji kept running, noticing that more and more of them were closing in. They'd been after him for days now, only the night was a reprieve for him as they seemed to just go home and sleep during that time.

"Go away, I'm not wearing any damn dress," Sanji snapped as he leapt off of a cliff and started using several rocks that jutted out of the cliff's surface to get down to the forest below, noticing that most of the Okama weren't game enough to do that. "Heh, finally…"

Unfortunately, the most persistent ones were willing to make the jump, two that he knew all too well by now. The first was a blonde in a white dress who he remembered called themselves Tibany, and another who he was especially wary of …

"Sanji darling~"

Sanji was struck in the back and sent flying down into the forest, crashing through several treetops before managing to recover, spinning in mid-air before landing on the ground where he skidded backward several more feet.

"Tch-!"

"Sanji darling … you've been a very naughty boy~"

"Damn," Sanji hissed as an Okama with red hair wearing a blue ballgown dress like that of a noblewoman landed gracefully atop a tree branch.

Caroline

"Not you again," Sanji hissed as he rose to his feet. "Can't you lot ever take no for an answer!?"

"Come now Sanji, you and I both know that you're just denying what that lovely little heart of yours truly desires~"

"I am not!"

"It's obvious Sanji that you're really a woman at heart, why deny yourself," Caroline asked gently as she leapt from the tree branch and landed before him. "Come now candy, come back and join us~"

"Like hell I will, I've got to get back to my friends," Sanji said through grit teeth. "And even if I didn't, I sure as hell wouldn't go back with you lot!"

"You won't escape us forever candy, not whilst our darling Rider has you on surveillance~"

Sanji grit his teeth and looked up at the Servant that had been tracking his movements pretty much from the start. They were riding a Hippogriff and suddenly came and landed next to Caroline.

"Hi Sanjiiii!"

"Eugh …"

"Aww, that's not a very nice reaction, how could you not wanna say hi to ME of all people!?"

Astolfo (Rider)

Bounty – 312,000,000 Berries

"Hi Astolfo," Sanji ground out, knowing full well that a Servant would brutalize him so it was best he just place nice with them.

"YAY! FRIENDSHIP FOREVER WITH BEST CHEF SANJI, WOOOOOO!"

In truth, the only reason Astolfo hadn't captured him yet was because A, his Master wasn't currently present on the island so he couldn't be ordered to. B, Sanji had been bribing Astolfo with his cooking, something that apparently was to die for. And C, apparently Astolfo knew his Master was due back any day and they could decide what to do with him.

All in all, he was delaying the seemingly insane Servant.

"Now come on Sanji darling, just join us," Caroline cooed as she slowly advanced toward him. "No need for such … rough play, is there~"

That sent a shiver down Sanji's spine as Caroline slowly advanced toward him. He grits his teeth, as he entered a combat stance.

"I'm not ever wearing that crap, you hear me, Caroline!"

"Oh, my candy, such pent-up aggression~ But don't worry, we'll soon have that all worked out … won't we~"

Caroline vanished and reappeared on Sanji's right with the blonde ducking just in time to avoid the kick. He tried kicking upward, but Caroline easily blocked it and struck him square in the chest, sending him flying into a tree.

"Come now darling, you know you can't win against me, so why resist?"

"I am NOT … wearing a dress," Sanji snarled as he rose to his full height. "I don't care if you lot kill me, I refuse!"

Caroline seemed genuinely shocked for a moment before shaking her head, seemingly reverting back to her usual flirtatious tone.

"Sanji darling … you'll understand soon enough," Caroline sighed as she went to attack again only for Sanji to begin spinning rapidly on the spot. "What are you doing candy?"

He spun around for a bit before stopping, his leg now on fire as he glared at Caroline.

"Diable Jambe …"

Caroline actually seemed taken aback by the hatred in Sanji's eyes, but Astolfo noticed something else as they stepped in front of Caroline.

"Stolfo darling, what is it," Caroline asked, nervousness in her voice as she looked over at Sanji who's eyes had a very faint reddish hue to them.

"You'd better be careful here Caroline, he could hurt you," Astolfo replied only for Caroline to raise an eyebrow.

"But he couldn't even read my speed before, so how can he suddenly do so now?"

"Its faint, but I can sense it … Aura," Astolfo muttered as Sanji glared at Caroline.

"I will not wear any fucking dress," he snarled as he raised the leg that was on fire out in front of him. "DO YOU HEAR ME!?"

"Sanji," Astolfo said as they moved forward. "Go. I won't let the others bother you."

Sanji's rage turned to shock as the flames on his leg vanished along with the faint reddish hue in his eyes.

"What …?"

"Go Sanji, I'll come chat to you in a minute, kay?"

Sanji was clearly caught off guard by Astolfo suddenly helping him, but he wasn't about to throw the opportunity to have at least a minute of peace away. So, he took off into the forest as fast as he could, running for over twenty minutes before he hit a beach.

His running slowed to a jog as he finally came to a stop near a rock and sat down, staring out at the ocean. His mind turned toward his friends, wondering what had happened to them. He wondered if they were even alive after what had occurred.

He drew his last cigarette and lit it, taking a drag with a sigh as he heard Astolfo's Hippogriff touch down nearby before they dismounted and came over to him. He looked over at Astolfo before looking back out at the ocean.

"Are you okay Sanji?"

"No. No I'm not."

"Wanna talk about it?"

Sanji eyed Astolfo for a moment before sighing and recounting everything that had happened that led him to being here. Once he was done, he was surprised that the seemingly insane Servant wasn't being such. Instead, there was a looking of understanding in their eyes as they sat down next to him.

"You've been through a lot, huh? Gotta say though, I'm surprised you're travelling with Natsu though."

"You know him?"

"Ask any Servant and it's like a ninety nine percent chance they'll say they're at least aware of who he is. I know him quite well though, he's fun to hang out with. But I'm actually better friends with his Daughter than him."

Sanji raised an eyebrow at that. He knew Natsu had a Daughter, but none in the crew aside from Seilah and Mordred really knew anything beyond her name.

"Her name is Cynthia, right," Sanji asked with Astolfo nodding in response. "Natsu talks about her sometimes, though I've never met her myself."

"The Cynthia you would probably end up meeting and the one I know are pretty different," Astolfo replied as they got up and stretched. "Kinda like how the Natsu you know and the one I know are different. Y'know?"

"Yeah, I get it."

"Anyway, I bet you're wondering why I told you to go and why I've told the others to leave you alone, right?"

"I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to know," Sanji replied as he looked toward the Servant. "So why did you help me?"

"When you used that attack, the one that lights your leg on fire, what did you feel?"

"What did I feel? Well…I was pissed off about basically everything," Sanji admitted. "I was mad at Caroline, mad at the others, mad at you, mad at being stuck here on this island … just … mad."

"Yeah, that sounds about right," Astolfo hummed with a slight nod. "Tell me Sanji, has Natsu ever told you about Aura?"

"Aura," Sanji repeated as he took another drag from his cigarette. "You mean that weird stuff that he, Seilah, Mordred and Brook can use, right?"

"Yeah," Astolfo nodded. "What do you know about it?"

"Not too much aside from what I've heard from discussions between them," Sanji replied as he looked up at Astolfo. "Why?"

"To give you a quick lesson. In their most basic form, Gods Aura is blue, Devils Aura is red and Hybrid's Aura is a mix between the two. There are higher versions but its not really important right now…"

"Okay, but what is important?"

"When you glared at Caroline, your eyes had a reddish hue to them."

Sanji sharply looked up at Astolfo, the shock clearly present on his face.

"Are you serious!?"

"Yeah. The reddish hue means you're very very close to awakening the ability to use it Sanji, but you've gotta work a little harder to get it."

"Really!? So, you mean I'll have that … Devil's Aura!?"

"Yes."

"Holy shit," Sanji muttered as he contemplated the level of power he could attain with it.

Every wielder of Aura he'd seen was so far beyond the people who didn't have it that it wasn't even funny. With that kind of power, he could fight against these people to help his friends, he could fight against Servants!

"How can I train to unlock it!?"

"From what I've heard, in order for Humans in this world to unlock it, they need to unlock their Haki, if you know what that is?"

"Yeah, I know what it is. Natsu was helping us train to unlock it," Sanji replied with Astolfo raising an eyebrow.

"He was? Hmm …"

"What?"

"I think Natsu was always pushing for you to eventually unlock access to Devil's Aura then if he was training you to unlock your Haki," Astolfo replied as they walked out toward the shore before turning back to face him. "Natsu doesn't just train random people he meets off of the street. Every person he teaches, he's doing so for a reason, even if its his Aura itself guiding him subconsciously to do so."

"So, you think he knew we'd need this power?"

"Tell me Sanji, what is the main goal of your Pirate crew?"

"Our Captain, Luffy, wants to be Pirate King."

Astolfo hummed and nodded, putting two and two together as she realized just why Natsu was training them.

"That makes sense then. You'll need Aura if you want to compete against the stronger foes in the New World. Natsu must know this and was preparing you guys for it."

"So, that means I should focus on unlocking the ability to use Haki so that I can then unlock Aura," Sanji asked with Astolfo nodding in response. "Then I need to find someone who can teach me."

"My Master can teach you," Astolfo said, the slightly insane and cheery demeanour returning. "They're actually on their way here right now!"

"On their way here? You mean back to the island, right?"

"No silly. They're heading to where we are right now," Astolfo grinned as Sanji shot up from the rock he was sitting on in shock.

"What!?"

"Relax, they aren't gonna force you to wear a dress or anything, I explained the whole situation to them," Astolfo said with a wave of their hand. "You'll probably like em!"

"If they're anything like Caroline then I highly doubt it," Sanji scoffed only for a rather loud laugh to echo through the forest behind him, prompting him to turn around.

"Come now Sanji, dear Caroline isn't that bad," the voice boomed as a massive Okama with a huge head and purple afro emerged from the forest. "They can be a bit forceful, but they aren't that bad once you get to know them."

"Hi Master," Astolfo grinned as they skipped over to their Master's side. "I talked to him, seems like he wants to learn how to use Haki!"

"Is that right? Well, that can be arranged," the massive Okama replied before grinning. "Do you know who I am candy?"

"No, I don't," Sanji replied cautiously.

"I am Emporio Ivankov, Queen of this Kingdom and one of the Officers in the Revolutionary Army! And I have a proposition for you!"

"It doesn't involve making me wear a dress does it …?"

"No! I propose a challenge, one that will help you grow stronger as well as improve that repertoire of recipes I heard you have! Defeat the ninety nine Newkama Kenpo Masters across the island and you may have the recipes they hold, the secret of our arts that allow us to be so strong! Once you have them, I will teach you Haki, and, perhaps even teach you how to use Aura," Ivankov said with clear enthusiasm to the idea.

"So … I must fight these ninety-nine masters who each have a recipe, I then will learn how to use Haki and Aura … There is no dress involved in this, right?"

"No dress unless you want it," Ivankov replied with a nod.

"Okay then … I accept," Sanji replied with a nod. "But after I know how to use Haki and Aura, I want to be allowed to train against Astolfo."

"Really? Very interesting darling," Ivankov muttered. "I suppose I can understand though, given your situation. I agree, but obviously do not kill my darling Stolfo!"

"Obviously," Sanji scoffed as Astolfo cheered.

"YAY! I'm gonna get to go all out eventually, I'm so excited," Astolfo cheered only for Ivankov to pat their head gently.

"Patience Astolfo darling, Sanji must train himself to be stronger first before he can even conceive of fighting you."

"I know, I know, but I can't help but be excited!"

Ivankov grinned before looking back at Sanji.

"Now, I should probably let you know that Luffy, Natsu, Mordred and Seilah are all okay," Ivankov said with Sanji's eyes widening in surprise.

"You know about them!?"

"Yeah. I met Natsu and Luffy in Impel Down and met Seilah and Mordred at the battle of Marineford. Natsu and Luffy are not exactly in the greatest of conditions … but they are alive."

"That's a relief," Sanji sighed as he sat down on the rock. "This means I've really gotta get stuck into training so I can join up with everyone again."

"Indeed. Obviously, I want you rested up before you begin. I've heard you've gone days without sleep or proper food," Ivankov replied with Sanji nodding stiffly. "I won't have them chasing you anymore, instead you will seek them out for the challenge. Part of the challenge however will be reaching them as I've instructed them to be in certain places across the island."

"So its training within training then?"

"Yeah, you catch on quick darling," Ivankov nodded approvingly. You should know though that some will be easier to find than others in order to make things far more challenging for you."

"That makes sense," Sanji nodded as he finished his last cigarette. "Is there any chance you can get me more of these?"

"I could, yes," Ivankov nodded in reply. "However, I will only do so if you show me these supposedly famed cooking skills that even Luffy and Natsu praise as that of a culinary God!"

Sanji chuckled and nodded back in reply, inwardly happy that the pair had praised his cooking so highly even when he wasn't around.

"Sure, I don't see why not. I assume you have access to most ingredients?"

"That we do candy."

"Alright then, I suppose we could head to that castle I assume is yours and I can whip something up. I'm pretty hungry myself after all."

"Oh my god, MORE OF SANJI'S COOKING," Astolfo cheered as they leapt back on their Hippogriff and took to the skies. "I'M GONNA EAT EVERY LAST BITE SANJI!"

"Sanji chuckled as Astolfo took off toward the castle.

"Seems you've won Astolfo over, I'm curious to see how your food will taste for myself," Ivankov said as the pair started walking.

"Don't worry Ivankov, no one ever complains about my cooking," Sanji replied before growing more serious. "And thanks for offering to help me grow stronger … I appreciate it."

Ivankov looked down at the now determined look on Sanji's face and nodded approvingly. He was glad to see the Chef was ready to begin his training, despite being in a place he clearly didn't want to be.

And so, the pair made their way back to the castle as Sanji mentally prepared himself for the trials to come, hoping that at the end of it he would unlock the power to help his friends.

Hope you all enjoyed and I'll see you in the next one!
