Chapter 16: The Cloth Destroyer! The Stray Pallasite Attack!

After the fight against Methone and Ymir with Souma and Yuna winning the fight...

"What?" the Silver Saint Menkar was engaged in battle against Mira, who used his Cronotech to hold the Silver Saint in place.

"You have a nice Cloth." Mira grinned. "It's shiny. So pretty. And it makes me want to break it."

"Impossible." Menkar gasped, Mira's attack sending him flying into a wall. "He destroyed a Silver Cloth with one strike?"

"Which Cloth should I break next?" Mira smirked, claiming Menkar's Cloth Stone as a prize.

In a tower the Saints were taking refuge in...

"Another Saint's Cosmo has vanished." Haruto informed, keeping watch.

"Who's the enemy?" Koga asked.

"I don't know." Haruto replied. "I'm sure there's a fight, but I couldn't feel their Cosmo at all."

"An ambush, or...?" Kikyo frowned.

"Most likely." the Earth-orientated Saint agreed.

"We should go, too." Subaru insisted. "We can catch up with them."

"You still don't understand what a war is, do you?" Haruto chided. "In a long fight, rest is critical. We've spent a whole day in battle. Only a fool would overestimate their reserves and continue fighting."

"Got it." Subaru whined, slumping on his back.

"We should rest while we can." Koga suggested. "Tomorrow will also be a fierce fight, I'm sure."

The next day...

While the Steel Saints took on the Pallasites attacking them, our main group had split off from the main force.

"Nice work, Haruto." Ryuho praised. "We didn't encounter any Pallasites at all."

"Last night, Kikyo and I tracked their Cosmo from the tower." Haruto explained. "Of course, we didn't see any."

"Then, we can go straight to Pallas' castle." Subaru declared.

"Good, I don't see any Pallasites." Haruto noted, the group were hidden behind a pillar of a courtyard. "Let's go." he led the group out. "Stop." he barked, stopping in his tracks in the middle of the yard.

"What's wrong?" Koga noticed the three Goddess Guardians were on edge.

"There's someone watching us." Guardian Juno hissed.

"I don't feel any Cosmo nearby." Subaru pointed out.

"This isn't Cosmo." Haruto corrected. "My ninja intuition is telling me something. They're watching us, but from where?"

"Above!" Vesta barked.

"Element Rejection!" Mira descended from the sky, his powered-up glove came down on Subaru's shoulder pad, destroying it.

Haruto charged in, attempting to take Mira from the back,

Said Pallasite merely shifted behind the Wolf Saint, his glove reached out to grab Haruto's armguard.

"This is..." Haruto landed on his feet despite the shockwave, stunned to find his armguard utterly shattered. "Impossible. He destroyed my Cloth in a single blow?"

"Nothing's more fun to destroy than a real Cloth." Mira grinned. "The other... what was it? A Steel Cloth? It wasn't worth destroying."

"Who is this guy?" Koga demanded. "He took out Haruto and Subaru in a single hit."

"Why isn't this guy wearing a Chronotector?" Ryuho wondered.

"Because I don't need one." Mira bragged. "I am the Pallasite Mira. Nice to see you, Saints. You'll be my first prey for the day."

"Are you a Class-2 Pallasite?" Haruto questioned.

"I don't know what Class I am." Mira shrugged. "I couldn't care less. More importantly, would you let me destroy your Cloths? Battles with Saints are really dull, so I've added something to make it more fun. I'm destroying the Cloths of all the Saints I meet. I'm also defeating Saints and collecting these things." he proudly showed off the Cloth Stones in his possession.

"Cloth Stones?" the three Bronze Saints were shocked.

"Did he steal the Cloths from all those Saints?" Ryuko was horrified.

"This guy..." Koga hissed.

"Koga, calm down." Ryuho chided. "If he's defeated that many Saints, he's strong."

"There's something strange about his attack." Haruto added. "As though my Cloth shattered on its own at his touch."

"Deconstruction..." Vesta realized.

"That's right." Mira declared. "This Alchemy Glove Pallas gave me resonates strongly with your Cloths, destroying them. It's a new toy I got for agreeing to participate in this battle."

"You sound like you're here to play." Haruto growled.

"Can't you tell how I'm dressed?" Mira chided. "I am playing with you."

"Then you destroyed Saints' Cloths and took them for fun?" Koga hissed.

"Without a Chorotector, fighting against you Saints is much more fun and intense." Mira remarked. "If you let me destroy those Cloths, I'll allow you to live."

"Don't underestimate us." Koga hissed.

"Ladies." Juno drawled.

"Yes, Taichou?" both Vesta and Ceres gave their leader a wry look.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but is he ignoring us?" Juno glared.

"I do believe he is." Ceres replied.

"Juno?" Ryuho gawked when the Light Guardian shot forward.

Mira simply backflipped over Juno's head and was about to land on the Guardian's back when she turned to face him, her cupped hands outstretched.

"Star Burst!" Juno fired off her light sparks directly into Mira's eyes, blinding him.

"Lightning Edge!" not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, Ceres fired off a curved lightning energy blast from her scythe's blade at the recovering Mira, sending him flying back into a wall.

"Oversoul." Vesta was not in the mood for a prolonged fight and called forth her Crisis-level finishing attack. "Blazing Phoenix!"

"This is gonna hurt..." Mira muttered, seeing the destructive firebird close in on him. Stretching out his Alchemy Glove, he managed to reduce the phoenix's power enough not to inure him too seriously. "A direct hit of that magnitude would have killed me." he admitted. "But you three ladies did surprise me. I concede. That makes me mad. It makes me angry to let you go. I don't care about the Cloths or my fun anymore. Let's fight for real."

"He still has more power?" Koga was stunned as Mira powered up.

Juno and Ceres were about to summon their Crisis powers when they heard clapping.

"That's enough." Europa stopped the pending fight. "Mira-san, are you refusing to accept defeat again? We can't have you trying to destroy the Saints' main force at the moment."

"What are you doing here, Europa?" Mira growled.

"Mira-san, think about the balance of power on the battlefield, would you?" Europa chided. "You understand the point of this fight, right?"

"I'm not in a good mood now." Mira spat. "Or will you fight me?"

"Please calm down and think, Mira-san." Europa rebuked. "About what will happen in the battle now. Wouldn't it be more fun to let them live?"

"Talking with you always throws me off." Mira snorted, powering down. "I feel stupid for getting mad. I'm going to take a nap." he walked off. "I don't want you ruining my fun again."

"Have a nice day, everyone." Europa also retreated.

"That Mira was really strong." Ryuho remarked. "If it wasn't for the Guardians, we would've..."

"You idiots." Subaru snapped. "Why are you so frightened? We don't have time to waste here."

"He's got a point." Ceres agreed.

"We have to go ahead to defeat Pallas." Koga nodded. "Let's go; to Pallas' castle."
