Chapter 28: Athena and Pallas! Showdown of the Goddesses!
"Pallas." Saori walked towards Pallas.
"Athena-onee-sama." Pallas returned. "I've waited so long for this day, for this moment. When my beloved Athena-onee-sama and I would meet once again. I'm sure you have forgotten about the past. The gardens of Olympus, where the Gods live. The ancient Age of Myth; we were so close then. So close that they said we were like one Goddess. However, our happiness was not eternal. The war began between Gods and humans. Your love was no longer mine alone. You shared it with the humans. That's why I then decided to destroy them all, to win you back; to annihilate the humans."
"That is why I was forced to fight and slay you." Saori admitted. "It was such a tragic battle. You would make the same mistake?"
"You're the one making the mistake." Pallas insisted. "Humans are stupid and ugly. They are poisonous insects that do nothing but pollute the Earth. Can you really call yourself the Earth's protector when you let them run unchecked?"
"Humans are not evil." Saori corrected. "They may not be perfect, but someday, they will grow up, perhaps into something great. A mere bug can become a butterfly."
"Humans are not worthy of being loved by Gods." Pallas snarled. "But you gave them all your love and you forgot about me. That's why you killed me. Because you forgot me, because you loved the humans more than you loved me. That's why I revived. That's why I agreed to his plan; to wipe out the humans, those ugly bugs that cling to you, from this Earth. Come back to me, Athena-onee-sama. We can be close, like we were in the Age of Myth and destroy all those who stand in our way."
"I'm sorry." Saori sighed. "No matter what I say, you won't listen, will you?"
"There is nothing left to be said between us." Pallas agreed and the two Goddesses donned their respective armors. "Let's play, onee-sama." she giggled.
"Chronotector?" Juno breathed in disbelief. "Pallas isn't using her Kamui Cloth?"
"Pallas, I'll say this one last time." Saori pleaded. "Do you truly want to kill me?"
"If you will not be mine, then you can die." Pallas declared.
"I cannot die here." Saori stated. "Because I need to protect the Earth's love and peace. Staff of Nike."
"Holy Sword of Time, Eternal Dance." Pallas called out, the two Goddesses knocked off each other's helmets.
"Where did you get that terrifying weapon?" Saori frowned.
"The Holy Sword of Time, Eternal Dance." Cere instantly recognized the weapon. "Time and space, zero and infinity. That's the ultimate holy blade that controls all that."
"Pallas, stop this!" Vesta shouted. "You know that weapon belongs to him, don't you?"
"So what?" Pallas sneered. "I will have Athena-onee-sama taste the power of the Eternal Dance." she let loose an energy blade from the sword, Saori blocking off the attack with her shield. "Onee-sama, give me your life." the two Goddesses clashed again. "And eternal myth of love." their weapons met in a stalemate.
"They're evenly matched." Harbinger noted.
"No, look closely." Juno refuted.
"Pallas, prepare to die." Saori readied her next strike.
"It won't be that easy." Pallas grinned, the Ouroboros armband around Saori's arm drained her life-force. "Too bad. On your way here, much of your life-force was taken away from you. That shield is in the way." she decided and disarmed Saori of the shield. "You're pathetic, onee-sama." she mocked. "You call yourself the Goddess that protects the Earth? It's your fault, onee-sama. It's because you love those stupid, filthy humans, because you won't love me, that's why you're going to lose. Because you forgot me."
"That is not true." Saori refuted. "Pallas, I love you. I've never forgotten you even for an instant. However, just like your fellow Goddess Guardians, I love the humans you hate, as well. Humans are weak, foolish and fragile, just as you say. But I know that they have a ray of light in their hearts. Humans are worthy of love."
"I can't understand it." a confused Pallas backed off. "I can't accept it."
"Pallas, Goddess of Love." Saori addressed Pallas. "Please, I beg you to give even a small portion of your love for me to the humans. If you absolutely insist on destroying humanity, then let us settle this here. For the humans I must protect and for the Saints who believe in me and fight for me." she charged up her Cosmo into her Nike Staff. "I cannot lose."
"Time, curve through all the stars and planets." Pallas raised the Eternal Dance. "Eternal Dance!" the two Goddesses clashed once more.
"Pallas, I'm sorry." Saori remarked. "Because of my love for you, I've avoided settling this for so long." she met Pallas' enraged charge head-on. "I am a coward and I was cruel." she deflected Pallas to the ground with an outburst of Cosmo. "Farewell, my beloved Pallas. Someday, humans may grow up and no longer need the Gods. When that day comes, let us meet again within the myth." she was about to thrust the Nike Staff through Pallas' head when Titan blocked the weapon with the hilt of the TenjinsÅseiken.
"Forgive my rudeness." Titan stated. "But I, TenjinsÅseiken Titan, shall defend Pallas-sama at the cost of my life. Even the Gods themselves cannot get past me."
Seiya jumped in, stopping the energy blast from the broken sword. "Your fight is over. So, leave the rest to me."
