Not My Magical World
Chapter 14
Harry floated above a large island, light bending around him as it flowed into him. With each breath, salty sea air filled his lungs, and the sound of the water relaxed his body.
It'd been six months since the black hole incident. During that time, he purchased three islands off the coast of Europe. He then teleported them close to the equator, and the people of Juru moved two smaller islands to join his own. With the Juru providing power, he merged the islands into a central landmass.
Once that was done, they used Harry's newest invention, the matter converter, to convert abandoned structures into raw materials.
Some mass was lost during the conversion, but with all the buildings worldwide left to rot, they had more than enough to build with.
With the success of the matter converter, Clarice was marketing them as Celestial Enterprises ' newest way to clean up sites of abandoned construction to be reused. In the current deal, they would get money for the converter and 10 percent of the raw material. Right now, they would use it for building, but later, he hoped to be able to sell it for profit.
Tearing his gaze away from the Japanese temple-like structure at the island's far end, Harry watched Jani fly toward him. "Shouldn't you be helping finish the construction?" Harry nodded toward the island where Juru were picking up stone and wood.
Under their touch, the wood and stone flowed like putty as they built more structures going away from the crystalline temple.
Using islands from two different ecosystems around the world gave the place an ecosystem like no other: pine trees and black spruce group aside palm trees lush with coconuts. Rich brown, almost black dirt, joined together with coarse sand.
Jani shook her head, "All I can do down there is help with coordination and lift heavy things; I am needed more for the study group."
The study group she spoke of was when Harry linked his mind to some Juru, and they shared knowledge, using Harry's power to build the village faster.
Harry glanced at her, taking in her black bikini and thin white veil wrapped around her waist. "You're not exactly dressed for it."
Jani glanced at him, taking in the muscles that stretched his skin, taught, and the sweat that ran down his bare chest and back. According to him, the energy of the Juru through his body healed some of the malnourishment he had been going through since arriving in this parallel world., "You're not either,"
Harry looked down at himself, sweat soaking into the waste of his jeans as his toes pointed to the ocean below, "I'm a guy."
"That is sexist, and you know it."
"Probably," Harry replied as he flicked his hand, creating a pale purple portal in the air, "Now are you coming or not?"
–XX –
Harry and Jani emerged from the portal into Harry's lab deep beneath Potter Manor.
As the portal closed, Harry looked around at the gathered people.
The first was Divine, a Juru scientist who specialized in technology. She was 5'11" tall with blue eyes, short dark hair, pale skin, and curvy with wide hips. She wore a silver Gi that highlighted her curves and was accented with a dark blue border.
The following two were Nadira and Nam; Nadira would act as the magical specialist, while Nam would be their medical personnel.
Kreature moved over to Divine, eager to talk shop with her.
The following person was Greenleaf, a new type of being created by Dobby during his travels. Like the spark, Greenleaf was a former house elf, but where the Spark focused on technology, the Greenleaf concentrated on nature.
This particular Greenleaf, Jonas Greenleaf, stood 4'11" tall with dark vibrant green eyes. Dark brown skin showing wiry muscle. His skin was adorned with green tribal tattoos down the length of his body.
He wore a vest of animal skin and a pair of tight brown leather pants.
He was there to help them integrate technology with nature, hoping to make their new island home a self-sustaining entity.
The final person was Andromeda Tonks. As he stared at her, he recalled when she contacted Clarice, giving him a meeting time and place.
–XX –
Harry sat in a coffee shop waiting on Andromeda Tonks. Clarice had contacted him and told him that Andromeda wanted to meet, so here he was in a very public place broadcasting a telepathic wave of ignore me until I draw attention to myself; given their last encounter, it was a smart move.
It'd been a week since he rescued the people of Juru from the black hole facility, and with the help, he was finally starting to build his haven for mutant kind.
He shook his head; he couldn't think about that right now. Andromeda had been an enemy the last time they met, and she may be again. Brushing the crumbs of a Danish off his shirt, he reached for his coffee; the pale brown liquid was more cream and sugar than actual coffee,
Taking a sip, he glanced toward the door as the scent of processed coffee beans filled his nose.
Andromeda Tonks strode into the coffee shop, her back straight, showing off every bit of her 5'9" frame. She had grown her hair since he'd last seen her, and it now traveled down her back in a wavy onyx-colored sheet.
Andromeda strode forward, her eyes like stone, her lips twisted into a frown.
Harry couldn't help but take in her body as she drew closer.
Beneath the gray thigh-length wool coat she wore, Harry could see a black blouse straining against her bust. Tight jeans accentuated her hips. Ankle-high boots poked out of the ends, clicking on the tile as she crossed the room.
Placing down his cup, Harry nodded, "Andromeda, I hope you are well?"
"Let's dispense with the pleasantries," Andromeda said, sliding into the seat across from him, "my daughter said you wanted to offer me a job."
"I dream of creating a haven for mutants similar to the one I had in my home reality. To do that, all mutants need to be strong. In my home reality, an elixir was created by Salazar Slytherin called the phoenixes rebirth."
Andromeda's eyes widened at the name.
"Salazar enhanced their mutant abilities by imbuing them with magic, giving them the ability to manipulate magical energy through their gift and an extended lifespan."
"I want you to work with some associates of mine to create an improved version of the elixir along with a process that will enhance and change a mutant's ability."
Andromeda's eyes narrowed, "why do you want me to change a mutant's abilities?"
"Because there are mutants whose gifts are nonviolent, but they're still persecuted. If we are to be persecuted regardless of our gifts, we will need a way to defend ourselves."
"Why come to me, and what do I get out of it?"
Harry raised a hand, waving a waitress over with a cup and coffee. She set the cup down in front of Andromeda and filled it, "Would you like anything to eat, ma'am?"
Andromeda shook her head, "Just coffee."
Harry nodded as the woman made to fill up his cup. After she walked away, Harry took a sip grimacing at the bitter taste. He grabbed the cream and sugar from the table and began mixing it into his coffee.
"I came to you because you possess the same ability Salazar Slytherin did in my home universe. As for what you get out of it, I can give you the Phoenix's rebirth potion and every super soldier formula ever used."
Andromeda's eyes widened, "You lie."
Harry shook his head, "Why would I call you here just to lie to you?" Placing his hand beneath the table, it flared with a pale purple light. Withdrawing his hand, he pulled a thick book from beneath the table, handing it to Andromeda.
Andromeda reached forward, but Harry drew the book back, a pale purple film covering his Iris, "if you try to leave with this book, you nor your daughter will remember our previous conversations."
Nodding stiffly, Andromeda took the book and quickly flipped through it. With each page she turned, her eyes widened, and her flipping became more frantic. Finally, she shook the book, "I'll work with you, but I want something in return."
"And what would that be?"
"I want Arcturus Black, the head of the black family, dead. I want you to bring his head to prove you did the deed."
"Done. Do you know his current location?"
Andromeda shook her head.
"It will take some time then," picking up his cup, Harry downed his coffee in one gulp before rising to his feet, "Now, let's take you to meet your colleagues."
–XX –
"Let's begin," Harry said, coming out of his thoughts. He led the group to a larger runic circle reminiscent of a wagon wheel. Six circles made of blocky, curved runes lined the wheel's outer ring.
Moving into the center of the circle, Harry sat down cross-legged.
The rest of the group, Andromeda, Nam, Nadira, Kreature, Jonas Greenleaf, Jani, and Divine, moved to one of the circles in the outer ring. Each shifted into a cross-legged position as Harry closed his eyes.
After the first month, once he was sure he could trust the Juru, Harry took the select few into the Akashic Plane. While there, they would each study a chosen subject.
For Nadira, it was magic. For Jani, it was psionics. For Nam, it was medical techniques from across the universe. For Andromeda, it was learning to use her chemical and compound manipulation with magic.
Jonas Greenleaf searched for a way to gain a closer connection to Gaia.
Kreature and Divine desired to learn more about technology.
Harry's job was to absorb, understand, and translate this information into something the others would grasp. His connection with the others made this more manageable since they each had a grasp of the knowledge they were searching for.
–XX –
With a sliding sensation, the group appeared in an extensive library. Bookshelves spiraled up as far as the eye could see, and tables sat sporadically throughout the space.
Lamps with flickering purple flames sat on each table.
Harry gazed around the space; a large part of him missed the cozy little library he had created with his mother, but that space would not accommodate a group this large, so the construct to access the plane had to be changed.
Without a word, the group fanned out, their footsteps echoing across the hardwood floor.
Harry took a seat at the closest table. Leaning back in his chair, he breathed deeply, preparing himself for what would come.
Harry stiffened as the first person grabbed a book, and a copy of it appeared in his hands.
It shone with purple light as he translated the knowledge in the book into concepts the chooser could understand.
As his conscious mind performed this task, another part of him tapped into the energy of the Juru within the circle and began helping build the island just a little bit faster.
As the magical energy flowed through him, he took 1 percent for himself. He stored it away, using the rest to help build the island and transfer the esoteric knowledge Nadira was learning to the other Juru.
Faster and faster, books began to appear before him. Before long, he was holding his hand over books and allowing tendrils of power to flow from his palms to connect to each book.
After an hour, his body shook, sweat ran down his skin, and it felt like an ice pick was jammed through his brain.
"All right, we're done for the day." As one, the group moved back over to Harry, each knowing the plane would consume them if they were left there alone.
Again, the sliding sensation took them as they moved from the dimensional plane back to reality.
–XX –
The group swayed as they reentered their bodies.
Slowly, each person ambled to their feet with a grimace from the input of knowledge.
Hand on his head, Harry flicked his fingers, opening seven portals, one for each of the participants.
With a muttered thank you, each trudged to the portal, their shoulder slumped in exhaustion.
As Kreature made his way to his portal, Harry called out to him, "Kreature hang on a sec. I've got something for you."
Tiredly, Kreature made his way over to Harry.
Dropping his left hand from his head, Harry stretched it out, summoning a thin black box from a nearby shelf. Opening it, he revealed the six bronze spheres inside to Kreature, "I told you a while back I would create something for you to be able to walk in the human world unnoticed. Implant these into your bodies, and you can shapeshift."
Kreature straightened, excitement filling his amber-colored eyes. Slowly, he took the box, "Thank you." He licked his lips, glancing at Harry nervously.
"What is it?"
"I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but why only six?"
"Someone implanted with one of the spheres will be able to grant a spark the ability to shapeshift as long as they have their consent."
Kreature nodded. "Do you think these will work for the Greenleaf?"
Harry shook his head, "No, I'm sorry, but your makeups are too different."
"Well, thank you anyway. I know you have made The Spark very happy." With a bow, Kreature turned away, walking toward his portal.
Harry watched him enter the portal before turning away and going toward the stairs leading up to Potter Manor. While he would like a nap, he had a meeting with Clarice at the British branch of Gringotts in an hour.
–XX –
Harry leaned back in a chair at the head of one of Gringotts conference tables, his eyes drifting closed as he waited for Clarice Glitterstone. His eyes snapped open as Clarice entered the room.
Moving to a chair beside Harry, she sat down, "No Gideon, Fabian, or Kreature today?"
Harry looked her over before answering; she still stood at 3'2". She wore a black business suit with a red blouse highlighting her wide hips and visible bust. Her white hair flowed down her slender back, drawing attention to her narrow face and slanted yellow eyes.
"All three are busy hanging off the Divine's every word."
"Ah," Clarice nodded, "the alien mutant." Pulling papers from a bag at her side, she glanced at him, "What do you want to know first, business or the location of Arcturus Black."
"Business first."
"All the power plants owned by celestial Enterprises are now renovated and linked, operating as a single entity and producing 30 percent more power."
"Good, next."
"The matter converters are a big hit. We're getting requests from the states, Russia, Germany, and Japan."
"That's fine, push the cells through, but increase the price for going outside Europe. Tell them it's an export tax."
Clarice nodded, making notes on her papers.
"So far, I hear good news. Anything I need to be made aware of?"
Clarice shut her folder and looked at him, "violence against mutants is rising, and the one called Magneto has founded a haven for them."
"I know; I hope to ally with him soon; I just don't know how he will feel about my idea of enhancing mutants."
Clarice shook her head, "I don't think that will be an issue. He believes the mutants will eventually have to fight to live. Since the alterations you have planned would help, he may even encourage it once he sees the results."
"Before that, I want to get the Morlocks on the island. Though she hasn't said anything, Callisto misses those she called family." He stared into Clarice's yellow eyes, "you know it's not only human mutants or alien mutants that are allowed on the island, right?"
Clarice looked down, "I know, but the goblins are proud people. The gnomes will probably join you once they see the island succeed, but the blood won't give up what they know."
"The Blood are not so different from mutants; they each possess a unique ability to funnel and manipulate their magical energy. I know they would be hunted if the humans found out."
"In most places, yes, but here in Europe, magic is celebrated."
Harry shook his head; though he could help the mutants, it didn't look like he could bring them and The Blood together like what happened in his world; mutants were too new here, and those with magic were too well-established.
"So, what can you tell me about Arcturus Black?"
