Not My Magical World

Chapter 22

Harry sat at the head of the table in a circular stone tower in the middle of New Haven. Shadows flowed across the pale white walls of the room as the members of what had become his counsel entered and took their seats; the dark red carpet muffled their shifting chairs as they got comfortable.

This was the first time they had gotten together since they joined minds to create the Lazarus tanks, and the composition of the council had changed.

Nam and Nadira had decided they no longer wanted to sit on the Council, so Jani became the voice for the Juru, and Andromeda Tonks became the voice for the medical facility of New Haven and the blood.

Divine of Juru was now the head of infrastructure for New Haven. Unfortunately for Kreature, he still had to sit on the council and be a voice for the Spark.

Jonas Greenleaf was in the same boat, he wanted a newly resurrected Theodore Tonks to sit on the Council due to his strong connection to nature, but the other Greenleaf disagreed, saying he hadn't learned enough yet.

Theodore Tonks had been enhanced by the resurrection process, increasing his connection to nature. Hearing about the Greenleaf, Theodore went to see them, and they instantly took to him, initially thinking he was a child of Gaia.

Though they were disappointed when they found out he was just a mutant blood member hybrid, they still taught him, wanting to ensure he used his abilities responsibly.

The only new members of the council were Norman Newman, the gnome, head of intelligence for New Haven, and temporary member Carver, leader of the Morlocks, but he was going to give that position back to Callisto since he believed his actions set the Sentinel on their trail, even though there was evidence that said otherwise.

"So," Harry began as he glanced up at the chandelier above the table, "who wants to start?"

Jonas Greenleaf opened his mouth to say something, only to be cut off as Clarice Glitterstone walked into the room, "Sorry I'm late."

"Problems?" Harry asked as she took her seat beside Jani.

"Not at the moment, but some competitors have tried to sneak their people into our facilities. Luckily, they haven't been able to get past the Sparks security system."

"Good," Harry nodded before turning to Jonas, "you were saying?"

Jonas straightened, and for the first time, Harry noticed he was beginning to grow taller. When he first arrived on the island, he topped out at 3'2". Since then, he's gained a foot, now topping out at 4'2".

'I wonder if the land is nurturing their growth.'

"Yes," he began bringing Harry out of his thoughts, "we are running out of land." He glanced at Carver, "With the influx of new arrivals, and the needed farmland to grow food for everyone, space is becoming scarce. We either need to extend the island or start building up."

Divine raised her hand, "I wouldn't recommend extending the island; the bigger the island is, the more the phasing technology we use to hide it will struggle."

Jonas nodded, "while we could sacrifice more space, it would mean we would have to import items, which would take away some of our independence and choke out the land," he frowned, "something my people don't want to do."

Harry's lips thinned, "I would like us to become more independent, not less, especially since anti-mutant sentiment seems to be on the rise."

Jani turned to him. "So, what do you suggest? Though we are not earthborn mutants, the Juru are classified as such, given our unique abilities, and this sentiment is causing anger to rise. Some people wonder why we don't take the planet."

Andromeda cleared her throat, "While we could do that and probably succeed for a time, the other powered individuals across the planet would band together to push us back, and the result would be more persecution."

Harry looked at Jonas, "You said building up was a possibility?"

"Yes, my people believe that it would be possible to construct farms in a tower shape to grow more food in one spot, though this method would deplete the nutrients in the land faster."

"Start building the towers. I have a task I will discuss later in the meeting that could help the nutrient issue."

Norman Newman knocked on the table, "There's also the new Sentinel to consider," everyone turned to look at him, "its technology is not of this world." With a wave of his hand, stacks of paper appeared before the Council.

The room grew quiet as everyone leafed through the information Norman had collected.

Finally, Jani spoke, "This is of Kryptonian design."

Norman nodded, "That's what I thought; though my talent only works on earthly knowledge and technology at the moment, I can still gather information from other worlds, even if I can't read it or manipulate it."

Harry leaned forward, "Work with Nadira. If you can strengthen your connection to the realm of knowledge, I believe you can increase your abilities."

He turned to Carver. "When Callisto wakes up, I want the Morlocks to train those willing to defend the island. Ideally, I would like everyone to know how to defend themselves, but I won't force anyone to join the training."

Clearing his throat, he focused on Divine, "If you wouldn't mind, work with the Sparks and see if you can find a weakness for these new Sentinels." Divine nodded, and Harry focused on Norman again, "Can you tell us anything else about the creators of the sentinels?"

Norman frowned, his eyebrows drawing together, "I could have until a day ago, but now, they are hidden from me. All I have is what's on this table."

Harry leafed through the papers again, "Well, at least we now know the names of our enemies, Kru El, Lesla-Lar, Va -Knox, and what they're up to. The question is, why are they doing this?"

Everyone turned to Jani and Divine.

"What?" Jani asked, speaking for both of them.

"Well," Harry rubbed the back of his neck, "Your people were in the phantom zone with them. Can you tell us anything about their personalities?"

Divine and Jani shared a look before Divine, being the older of the two and thus the one with more memories of the people in question, spoke, "Kru El and Lesla-Lar both have a superiority complex and want to prove it to others. If they made the Sentinel, they wanted to prove they could do so with earth technology."

Carver spoke up, "That can't be the only reason they're doing this."

Divine shrugged, "It's probably not; I'm just telling you what I know of them from previous interactions."

"And Va -Knox?" Harry asked.

"Certifiably insane."

Andromeda raised her hand, and Harry nodded at her.

"Could we expose them?"

Harry shook his head, "We could, but that would mean potentially exposing the people of Juru. It would also cause the world's governments to put people under more scrutiny, something we don't need right now with people coming and going from the island for work."

Andromeda nodded, sending an apologetic look to Jani and Divine.

Harry stood to his feet and began pacing, "All right, here's the plan so far. Carver and Callisto will begin training a defense force for the island," he stared into Carver's blue eyes, "At the end of the training, they will all go through a security check to make sure they won't do anything harmful."

Carver nodded, and Harry turned to Norman, "Begin working with Nadira as soon as possible. You need to get through that magic and discover what Kru-El and the others are up to and whom they are working with."

He turned his focus to Divine and Jani, "When Norman is not working with Nadira, work with her to see if you can find other advanced technology hidden throughout this galaxy, we're going to need an edge."

Sitting down, he turned to Andromeda, "Now, on to other matters. How is the resurrection process going, and what kind of people are joining our community?"

"Those resurrected while thankful do not want to live in any of the three cities we have established. They have agreed to pay for the land, but as Jonas said," She glanced at the Greenleaf in question. "We don't really have the space for the mall to have an individual home."

Andromeda stared around the table, "With the Way the World has changed, they're nervous about leaving the island" She turned to Harry, "And I wouldn't want to force them. We resurrected them, meaning they're at least partially our responsibility."

Harry opened his mouth, but Andromeda raised her hand, "Yes, I know they chose to come back to life, so their life is their own, but at the same time, most of them have been dead for hundreds of years."

"Is it our responsibility, or do you feel responsible for what your family did to them?"

Andromeda looked away, and Harry stared around the table, "We are an island that gives people a better chance at life, not babysitters. If they want a life, they will have to work for it unless disabled. Even then will find something for them to do as long as they are mentally fit."

He turned to Andromeda, "However, we will accommodate these people since I want the island to be self-sufficient, and certain jobs can't be performed in the city. Now, besides this, how is everything else going?"

"Other than that, there are a variety of trades now on the island. Former farmers are now working with the Greenleaf. a few blacksmiths are interested in learning from the spark. Some ships have been requested so fishermen can apply their trade."

"Teachers, merchants, and laborers are updating their knowledge in the teaching Citadel before going into the world again."

"I don't have a problem with building some ships," he looked to Divine, who straightened, her blue eyes staring into his, "I hope the Spark and Greenleaf can work together to create a sustainable design."

"Why are you looking at me?"

"The Spark worships you because of your ability to interface with technology. So far, all your technology is cleaner than anything else, so the Greenleaf are happy."

"It's true," Kreature said, wonder shining in his flame-like eyes at the thought of her ability.

Taking a deep breath, which drew attention to her chest, divine released it and shared a look with Kreature and Jonas, "We'll See what we can do."

"Thank you, now as for the space issue, I think I have a way to solve that," Harry waved his hand, "which I will get to in a moment. Have there been any problem cases?"

"Though most of the souls you rescued from my family estate are still awaiting resurrection, Amelia is going through them with her daughter, so far we only found a few that would cause trouble for the island," Andromeda shifted uncomfortably, "Amelia is teaching her daughter how to absorb them to protect herself."

"Good," while he would've liked to have given all of them a second chance at life, he wasn't going to allow killers, rapists, or other deviance on the island.

Jonas leaned forward, "Now, what idea do you have to resolve our space issue?"

"I have an idea of how to terraform a planet, but to accomplish it, I will need a particular material, which I was hoping the Greenleaf could help me with, but if it's all right with Andromeda, I think it would be good to send Ted," he glanced at the woman.

The woman in question nodded slowly. She wanted to keep him safe but realized she couldn't put him in a bubble. Not only would he be miserable, but he would resent her for trying, "He would like to get off the island, he hasn't said anything, but I know he's going stir crazy," she looked at Harry, concerned shining in her eyes, "but is what you have planned dangerous?"

He shook his head, "It shouldn't be, but he won't exactly be dealing with a human entity, so there's always a chance."

Jonas cocked his head to the side, curiosity shining in his green eyes, "What are you talking about?"

"I want him to head to an island called Krakoa."

Everyone turned to look at him, "Krakoa," Andromeda repeated.

"Yes."

"What is Krakoa, and why would we need to go there?" Jani asked.

"Krakoa is a sentient island born billions of years ago from a mutant woman. Like its progenitor, it can adapt to any environment; I want to use part of it as the core for a world seed?"

"A world seed?" Divine asked, blowing a strand of dark hair out of her face.

Harry waved her off. "Let me iron out the details; then I'll show you."

"So, you want Ted to go to Krakoa and obtain a piece of the island for your experiment?" Andromeda asked.

"Yes."

"What are the dangers?"

"Krakoa is a psychic vampire that feeds off the energy produced by sentient creatures. I don't know when he was last fed, so there's a chance he may try to keep Ted to feed on him."

Andromeda tensed, "How do you plan to get around this," she asked, her voice hard as her gray eyes shone with an inner glow.

"By transforming the energy produced by one of my mini suns into psychic energy, that should be enough to feed him for a while."

"And if it's not, what if Krakoa decides to go for the real thing?"

Harry shrugged, "I don't have all the answers, but I'm assuming the Greenleaf would want to meet this sentient island so he will have some backup."

"You would be correct," Jonas said, standing to his feet, "when do we leave?"

Hours later, Harry moved around his lab as Andromeda, Clarice, and Ted emerged from the stairway leading to the Potter mansion.

Clarice grunted as she sat a sack of coal down near the table. Harry was working at, "Why did you have me bring this again?"

"It's for something we will need after Ted completes his mission." he glanced at the man in question, taking in the changes he'd gone through since coming back to life.

He was 6 foot even, with broad shoulders, thick muscles, a prominent chin, short Brown hair, and yellow eyes. He wore a plaid shirt, jeans, and well-worn boots. A jacket was draped over one arm as he and Andromeda stopped on the opposite side of the table.

"Ted," he greeted, "good to see you again."

Ted offered his large hand, and Harry shook it, surprised to find calluses there since it hadn't been long since he was resurrected.

"Thank you for returning me to my family."

"You're welcome, but remember to use this chance well. Not everyone gets it," Harry said, images of his parents flashing through his mind.

Ted wrapped an arm around Andromeda's waist, pulling her close, "You don't have to worry about that."

As the couple stared into each other's eyes, Harry wondered if another child was in the future.

Turning away from the couple, Harry stared at the items on the table. With the coal Clarice bought him, there was now Coal, Graphene, silk, and kudzu.

Each of these items would serve a purpose in what he was trying to create; the coal would be forged into diamond, one of the hardest substances on earth, and the graphene for its thermal and electrical conductivity, which he hoped to change into magical conductivity.

The silk for its tensile strength. He hoped to combine the graphene and silk to create narrow pathways for the mystical energy to flow through and, finally, the kudzu for its ability to grow.

"So," he began as he curled his fingers, lifting the coal into the air, "What's the latest with the business?"

"Our power plants are working perfectly, and the workers are happy," Clarice replied, pulling a clipboard from somewhere. "We've cleaned up most of the landfills in Europe and are now having the waste needed for the power plants delivered to the plant directly."

"What are we doing with the land that was cleared off?"

Clarice glanced at the coal as it was reduced to a fine powder, "we are selling it for profit, but as we discussed before, anyone who wants to turn it into farmland is being given a discount," she shook her head as the coal dust transformed into tendrils and began spiraling to form a central mass, "I still think it was a bad idea."

"It is in a way, but I would like to help England to become a little more self-sufficient."

Clarice shook her head, "A noble goal, but it's not going to work, those in power will apply pressure to small farms to get what they want, and old deals made by the powerful will always be in place."

The mass of coal began to glow with heat as Harry used gravity to apply extreme pressure. Using thermal manipulation, Harry pushed whatever heat was escaping back into the center. "You're probably right, but at least when I die, whoever judges me after won't be able to say I didn't try."

Clarice shot him a concerned look as the diamond began to form.

Moving his fingers, Harry did his best to guide the diamond into the shape you wanted without compromising its crystalline structure. Once it was about half the size of a basketball, he began slowly withdrawing heat from it, "what else do I need to know?"

Clarice hesitated, wanting to ask about his previous statement, but in the end, she just shook her head, promising herself she would do it later, "Certain countries want to speak to you about building power plants in their nations."

Harry raised his hand, "Are they wanting me to sell them the technology or build a plant in their country?"

"Mostly the former."

Harry shook his head as the diamond floated down to the table, "I'm not going to sell them my technology. If manipulated, it could become the greatest weapon in the world."

"I didn't think you would. Some smaller nations want power for the people and will have you build a plant on their land."

"That could work," Harry nodded, "see if any of the resurrected people have the powers needed to build the plant or the desire to work there. Also, find out what we can get in return. It has to be worth our while, after all."

Clarice nodded.

1Harry picked up the items off the table and went to the runic forge. Kneeling, he opened the panel on the side and placed the items inside. Moving to its control podium, he put his hand in its center and stilled, his mind sinking into the device.

XX –

Standing at the holographic table with the items he placed into the machine strewn across it, Harry flicked his fingers. The graphene and diamond lifted into the air, breaking apart as Harry isolated the traits he wanted to keep.

For diamond and graphene, those traits were their durability and conductivity. He bound the qualities together in a runic spiral using the runes for reinforcement and power to reinforce the attribute of the diamond and increase the amount of energy the graphene could store.

An oval took shape in the air.

Looking over the oval, he frowned. Swiping his finger through the air, he attached a rune for transformation into the conductivity rune. Moving to the opposite side, he re-created the rune.

Turning his attention to the kudzu and silk, he pulled it into the air before breaking it down and isolating the tensile strength of the silk and the impressive growth of the kudzu.

He bound the two traits together using the runes for reinforcement, creating a long chain of runes. He began constructing the jewel's interior by moving the chain inside the oval, overlapping it, and interweaving it until he created a small chamber inside. As he built the chamber, he adjusted every third rune to amplification. Once he was finished, check to ensure the room for transformation lined up with the others creating the jewel's interior.

Once he was satisfied that the interior of the jewel w stable, he copied the image one hundred and eighteen times.

Swaying slightly as the runic forge pulled energy out of him to duplicate the material needed to replicate his creation, Harry took a breath before writing the symbol for an element on the periodic table inside each jewel.

Steadying himself on the table, Harry stared at the items. Pushing his will forward, space around him flashed, and Harry shook as more energy was withdrawn from his body.

XX –

Clarice, Andromeda, and Ted jumped as bright light shot from the top of the runic forge. Out of the top of the pyramid came 118 bronze-colored ovals. Green stripes ran through the ovals, and if you look closely, a thin line of white ran through that stripe.

Ted moved forward as the ovals began to fall, his arm blurring as he caught each one.

"Show off," Andromeda admonished, a fond smile on her face.

"Only for you," Ted quipped back, turning the jewels over in his hand, "what are these things?"

"You guys are so sweet it's disgusting," Harry said, staggering away from the pyramid as Clarice nodded in agreement.

Andromeda placed her hands on her hips, wrinkling her white gown, "You wouldn't think so if you didn't work so much and found some love of your own."

Ted stepped forward, "What are these?"

"The other component needed to create a world seed." With a wave of his hand, all 118 jewels disappeared in a purple flash.

Ted looked down at his hand, "Where did you send them?" He asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.

Harry moved to a nearby shelf, picking up one of his mini suns. Inhaling sharply, he pulled the energy from it, straightening slightly as some of his fatigue disappeared. "I sent the jewels out to gather the elements from the periodic table." Turning back to the group, he slowly filled the orb with psychic energy.

Stopping before Ted, he handed him the orb, "Are you ready?"

Taking the orb, Ted looked around, "Yeah, but I thought you said the Greenleaf were going with me."

"They'll meet you on the island. They can travel through trees, so they don't need me to teleport them."

"I need to learn to do that," Ted muttered, slipping the orb into his pocket and throwing on his jacket.

Andromeda moved forward, smoothing out the wrinkles and folds of his jacket, "Be careful, and come back to me."

Ted leaned down, kissing her lips, "You know I will." Pulling back, he nodded to Harry.

Harry nodded back. Flicking his hand, a pale purple circle appeared in the air.

Stealing himself, Ted stepped forward, his yellow eyes full of determination.

As Ted disappeared, Andromeda faced Harry, her gray eyes hard, "If he doesn't come back, I'm holding you personally responsible."

Harry stared back, his eyes equally hard, "Fair enough."

"On that note," Clarice said, breaking the tension, "there's one more thing I need to tell you."

Harry looked at her.

"There is a woman in America that wants to meet you."

"Really, who?"

"Her name is Luna Lovegood, but it's strange," Clarice's brows pinched together.

"How so?"

"She contacted my personal number?"

"So?" Andromeda cocked her head to the side.

"My number at Gringotts. Those are internal numbers we can call out, but no one is supposed to be able to call for security reasons."

Interest sparked in Harry's eyes: "When does she want to meet and where?"

"Three days, at," she hesitated, "Stark Industries."

"Stark Industries," Harry repeated.

"Yes," Clarice began to fiddle with a strand of her white hair, "apparently, she is Tony Stark's daughter."
