Summary: Overhaul finds someone free of the filth that is quirks, and he won't let her slip through his fingers.
Chapter 3: Overhaul
Chisaki Kai didn't know the name of the grunt he had watching Eri while he had a meeting with Eight Bullets, but he was going find out and kill him…slowly. Perhaps even the morons he had patrolling the inner layers of his estate. He was embarrassed to even be associated with them as they both couldn't keep a 5-year-old girl in her room, or spot her as she run away, with such incompetence, it was no wonder why the Yakuza were an endangered species, only proving he would have a lot of work to do if he ever wished to see them ascend to the heights they once dominated. He strode through the halls of the place, easily tracking Eri's seeing how she left bloody footsteps in her wake, something that he both liked as it meant he wouldn't need to waste time searching for her and hated as it meant that there this place wasn't as clean as he ordered it to be, no doubt it was that fool Sakaki leaving behind his sake bottles that had been smashed up.
Before he could finalise what punishment he'll give to his bullet, he reached a door, one of the emergency exits to the place and saw it was still open, knowing where it led, he cursed under his breath and made a mental note to take a long shower after this as he stepped through it into the dirty, trashed filled alley. He had to move fast now, not just to get away from this filth, but to find Eri before she was found if someone saw her, they'll jump to conclusions and force his hand, something he didn't want to do as last thing he needed as some random hero getting involved with his affairs. He did start to pick up the sound of Eri's hurried footsteps, it seems that was starting to tire out, negating her headstart over him. He quickly followed them, gaining on the girl while remaining hidden in case she looked back and the sight of him gave her a second wind.
Unfortunately for the young Yakuza boss, he hadn't been fast enough to grab her before she made it to the sidewalk, and even worse, she bumped into somebody he couldn't see, only knowing of the impact from the surprised, feminine groan and Eri's yelp, followed by the sound of her falling to the pavement. This was bad, he made his way as close as he could get without being seen and observed, waiting for the right moment he could snatch her and dispose of the witness before they were seen as they started to talk with one another, the young sounding girl trying to calm Eri down and get her to relax. He caught a glimpse of the person and he proved himself right in his assumptions of her. The girl, who introduced herself s Midoriya Izuku to Eri, was young-most likely still in middle school with a small, weak-looking build and short green hair, he couldn't make out her face, not from his position but he suspected she must have looked friendly enough as Eri latched onto her rather quirk.
His eyes narrowed as he listened to their conversation, secretly following them through the shadows of the alley, being forced to touch the god-awful walls to use his quirk to move through buildings and other obstacles as silently as possible, someone was doing to die for making him go through this. His mood was not helped by the fact this Midoriya girl was trying to undermine months of his effort in making it clear to Eri what she was, and what her quirk was. From what he could see, the street was deserted, and while he wondered what she was doing outside of school with the rest of the brats, he also needed to figure out what her quirk was. He was pretty confident he could finish her off with a single tap before she even realized he was there, but it made to be cautious in case he couldn't, so he reframed from simply dashing out and killing her, at least for the moment but he didn't have a lot of time as she was making her way, with Eri, to the train station which was bound to have others, and policemen.
Eri then told her the truth about who she was, and this…Izuku's response tripped him up. "Well, it's a good thing I don't have one."
She said it with such cheer, without a pause or any other hint of deceit, as she continued to explain her quirklessness to Eri, Overhaul's mind was moving a mile a minute with this revelations. Quirkless? He knew that there existed, but there was such a rarity in society, with most being old enough to be his parents if not older, for a teenage girl to be quirkless as well…. He couldn't believe his luck with such a find, she was the target goal of his research, a being without a quirk in time, a pure human in their infested, rotten society. He wondered how she could sound so cheerful, so assuring when she was born into a world that idolised quirks and looked down on those who didn't fit what was accepted. Had she gone through similar life experiences as the trash he recruited into the bullets? He didn't know.
He almost laughed as he realized what he had been doing, as he had held back in case she was dangerous, only to learn she wasn't any more threatening than a house cat since while pure, it also meant she was weak. With another alley leading into the street ahead of him, he calmly walked out right in front of them, letting him see her face and her green eyes as she widen in surprise, and with surprising speed, fear and a hardened resolve as she started to size him up, no doubt trying to figure out a way to get past him or figure out what his quirk could see seeing how Eri never managed to tell her that part. All this led him to see that she realized who he was before they even spoke, smart girl, though he wouldn't say the same for her fashion sense as she wore large brown cargo shorts, garish red high-top sneakers and a pale blue tee which had the kanji for 'shirt' written on it
"There you are, Eri. I've been looking all over for you; thanks for keeping an eye on my daughter; she tends to wander off." Kai spoke up, watching her with an amused glint in his eye as she kept holding Eri so he decided to make it clear just how much out of her depth she was. "She can be emotional when she gets lost; she is a little girl, after all, so it's great that she bumped into someone that could keep her calm, Midoriya-san." Yes, he could see a shiver shoot down her spine, she knew that he knew she was quirkless, but he didn't want to hurt her, quite the contrary as she was a diamond in the rough, but she didn't need to know that at present.
"You must be Kai, then." This girl was full of surprises, even while starring him down with no way out, she did a good job at trying to keep herself calm, reminding him more of the bullets the more they spent time together, in another world she might have been a good candidate for them, but she was a woman so quirk or no, she wouldn't have been accepted into the Yakuza and while he had been fighting to adapt them to the new world, those old foggers would give him nothing but headaches complaining he was 'violating their brotherhood by bringing in a woman'.
"I'd rather we don't make a scene." He told her, putting a pin in that thought as he turned around, no hear in what she might try with his back turned to her as he knew she wasn't dumb enough to think his guard was lowered: he was baiting her to try something, try something and fail. "Come, Eri. We wouldn't want to bother the nice lady more than we have already, wouldn't we?" With a single glance over his shoulder, he could tell what she was planning and moved to stop it, he wasn't planning on killing her, but he could do many other things to get her to release Eri.
"No!" Oh, this was a surprise, Eri had seen him kill people plenty of times, and she never voiced any objection then, so why now? Eri broke out of Midoriya's arms, running up to him as fast as her bruised, bloody legs could manage but she remembered not to try and touch him as she looked up at him with fear-filled tearful eyes. "Don't hurt her! I'll go!"
"Eri…" Midoriya sounded just as heartbroken by this turn of events, giving him enough of a picture to realize what had happened between them, with the man's growing smile only hidden by his mask.
"Really, she already means that much to you?" With her nod, a plan started to form in his mind as he retracted his hand, seamlessly putting it back into his glove as they started to walk away. "Then I'll leave her alone, no more fighting back and no running away, understand?" Her muted agreement only made his plan all the more viable, and it would allow him to kill 2 birds with one stone. "You seem like a smart one, Midoriya. So, it'll be pointless to try and raise a fuss over this with the police; after all, who would listen to a quirkless girl?" He couldn't help himself, he had been in such a foul mood only minutes prior but now felt like he had just won the lottery.
"Perhaps we'll cross paths again, but that is not here or there, Midoriya-san. Eri, say goodbye." He'll make sure of that.
3 days.
3 days had passed since she met Eri…and Kai. For 3 days, sleep hadn't come easily to her, she was lucky if she managed 5 hours without waking up screaming, or with a feeling of being paralyzed, or a nightmare reliving that Thursday afternoon encounter, only it never went the way it did, always worse. Eri's fearful eyes, Kai's gleeful eyes, her shame and weakness, screams, pain and death. The dread pooled in her stomach, it made her sick to the point she could barely eat and even in the safety of their apartment, every little sound made her jump. Even as her anger boiled, she could do nothing but bite her tongue as she couldn't just rush to Eri's rescue, she didn't have a quirk, she didn't have the training, she didn't even know where to look, and she didn't have help.
That last thought only angered her further as she recalled how the police had just brushed her off once they realized who she was, it didn't matter that she could be telling the truth, that there was a girl in need. No, all that mattered to them was she was 'overreacting to seeing a strict father', she threw her pillow at the wall for that, the new décor in her room not at all helping her with her mood. She felt the tears building in her eyes, a common occurrence now, as she thought back to the encounter, how she was too weak to help someone in clear need, how she was too weak to be Eri's hero, only proving All Might right, how could she be anything like him when she couldn't even save one person? And now, she was the one in need of saving, because Kai said it himself, they were going to cross paths again, he was going to come for her and she didn't know which scared her more, the idea that it was to silence her, or to drag her into whatever hell he built for Eri.
But she wouldn't go down without a fight, as pitiful as it turns out to be. So, she spent as much time as she could looking into ways to protect herself and ward off potential kidnappings, even basic self-defence she could use to surprise them and get away. Any extra time she could buy herself was badly needed, as she needed it to figure out how to help Eri if she couldn't rely on the police, she needed to rely on pros, which seemed implausible as well, before she remembered someone trying to be a hero and while she would rather avoid him at all costs, she could see him jumping at this, if for no other reason then it was something that would boast his image and stroke his ego. She had already told her mom her plans, and her fears, as was the advice of many of the websites she found which made it clear to tell others you trust if you feel like you're being stalked.
But she still felt like she needed to do more, but with no friends and few forums online she could trust to even take her seriously, she turned to her safe space and sought out advice from them, efforts that seemed to draw the attention of an unexpected person.
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 11:59 am: You say someone might be stalking you?
Midoriya paused with this, as she had been on Snooping Bugle for a while now, asking around with the others for advice. It was a small mercy that none of the users was sceptical of her, taking her far more seriously than the authorities. But the issue with this chat window from this person whose username she didn't recognise was the fact she had been keeping her inquiries to private chats.
QuirkLover15. 17/07/XX 12:04 pm: How did you know that? I didn't put it in the general chat.
She decided to poke them first, see how they knew that, the response she got wasn't one she expected.
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 12:09 am: My company runs this entire thing, one of the mods was concerned and reached out to me.
She paused once more, not from surprise but from shock as she had known who run this site for years, there was no way this was her…right? Oh my God, this was her!
QuirkLover15. 17/07/XX 12:11 pm: You're Chitose Kizuki? As in the executive director of Shoowaysha Publishing?
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 12:12 pm: I see someone knows my name :)
She couldn't help but blush there, she couldn't believe she just did that! Part of the reason she liked to message people was that she could keep her fangirl tendencies in check to not creep them out. she didn't want her first interaction with such a media mogul to be so socially terrible. At the very least, it explained how they knew her name as when she signed up for her account, she entered her name, phone number and address.
QuirkLover15. 17/07/XX 12:13 pm: OMG, I'm so sorry about that! I didn't mean to freak out.
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 12:15 pm: No need to apologize, I didn't take offence as I'm quite proud of my work.
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 12:15 pm: But that's not why I'm here. Are you in danger, Midoriya? Do I need to call the police?
QuirkLover15. 17/07/XX 12:19 pm: It's a little more complicated than that, and I doubt they'll listen.
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 12:17 pm: Try me.
Reading that, gave her hope as she finally had someone that do something willing to listen. So she did, for almost 20 minutes, she explained the encounter to her, from how Eri appeared, how she spoke and what they talked about, to Kai's surprise appearance, his veiled threat to harm her then and possibly kidnap her in the future. She didn't leave anything out, with Ms Kizuki only interrupting her for questions here and there, or keeping her on the topic.
QuirkLover15. 17/07/XX 12:43 pm: And that's it. I want to save her, but I don't have any help, I can't fight and no one will believe me.
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 12:44 pm: I see, that is an issue as there aren't a lot of good options here.
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 12:44 pm: But I can see one major issue you're facing, it's credibility.
QuirkLover15. 17/07/XX 12:45 pm: Really?
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 12:47 pm: Right now, few people in any position of power trust you, even if I managed to get you the information you could give them, they'll dismiss it without reading it.
QuirkLover15. 17/07/XX 12:49 pm: But why? Wouldn't the truth be enough?
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 12:52 pm: Would you trust a tabloid known for its scandalous stories?
QuirkLover15. 17/07/XX 12:52 pm: No.
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 12:53 pm: Exactly, the messenger counts more than people know. A Tabloid could report that All Might was injured and weakened but no one would believe it because they don't trust them, even if they had solid proof.
Here, Midoriya nearly choked on her glass of juice. Thankful she wasn't on facetime with the woman as she just knew she would have suspected something with her reaction there.
QuirkLover15. 17/07/XX 12:58 pm: Yeah…They wouldn't.
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 13:01 pm: So, what we can do is have some of my people head over to the area and look around, they'll find the information we need to bust this Kai guy, and save Eri.
QuirkLover15. 17/07/XX 13:02 pm: Thank you so much! I didn't know what else I could do so, sure I told my mother but there isn't much an accountant can do about this, and with the police brushing her off…
QuirkLover15. 17/07/XX 13:03 pm: Just…thank you, really. I wasn't able to save her before, maybe we can save her now.
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 13:05m: There's no need to thank you, child. I couldn't just sit back and do nothing now, could I?
Izuku just knew she was smiling as she typed that out, but there seemed to be more coming in.
Cheshire Cat. 17/07/XX. 13:05m: Though I would appreciate it if you could clear something up with me first, you said that Eri called her meta-ability a curse and that it messes with other meta-abilities.
In the middle of central Tokyo, was located a massive, lavish and eye-catching skyscraper, it didn't have as many floors as other buildings, but it made up for this on account of the fact each of its 50 floors was twice the normal distance from the floor to ceiling, a means to account for those with meta-abilities that just made them taller than most. This building served as the headquarters for Shoowaysha Publishing, one of the biggest names in media in the country. Inside that building, in an executive office fit for a woman of her status, sat the curious blue-skinned woman that had made all this possible, the one that in only 20 years, had taken them from a small local newspaper into the media giant that now was.
"A meta-ability that damages other meta-abilities?" She wondered to herself, seated in her extremely comfy chair as she closed her private chat window on her computer, having finished her little chat with Ms Midoriya not too long ago. What she had learned was something she couldn't just set aside. "Watanabe." She called for one of her aides, and less than 10 seconds later, the marge doors leading to her office opened up, and a middle-aged woman with a fish-like appearance walked in and bowed.
"Yes, mam?"
"Send up one of our journalists, I have a job for him." She instructed her, she'll need to entrust this to someone both capable, could lead a team, and was trustworthy. It was perhaps a secret fortune that the police hadn't been involved with this yet, it gave them more time to move in. With Watanabe gone, she called for another, this time a man in his late 40s with a stone-like face.
"Takahashi, I'll be taking a call, so I would appreciate some privacy." The man, whose face didn't change at all, nevertheless bowed to her before leaving her office, off to spread the word that unless it was important, she wasn't to be disturbed. Still, she did not take needless chances as she pressed a small button under her desk, connected to a hidden system built into the floor, walls and ceiling of her office which both scanned for listening devices and other spyware before it fried them. Satisfied that there was no such thing in her office, she opened up another program on her computer, far different from the others, a smile on her face as she couldn't help but be jumpy over what she learned, over such an interesting story she could uncover and tell the world, but her smile did fall when she recalled more of the details.
"What a deplorable man, stuck in the past and daring to tell such lies." She sneered to herself, her green eyes burning with a seething hatred for a man she never even met, but would most likely kill on sight. But she contained herself, there was much to be done, and so much to prepare. Her smile returned as she thought about all she could do, all that they could do against this upstart fool. "Yes, I can see the headline now. The last hoorah of the Yakuza: Life and downfall of Kai…" She paused before she started to chuckle to herself as the program she opened up started to call for its other members, requesting a meeting. "Oh, how silly of me, I don't even know his name."
Monday both couldn't come fast enough and too fast for the Midoriya family. For Inko, it hadn't come fast enough as she got up early, took her shower and dressed in one of her best dress suits, did her make-up, and did up her hair into a neat bun. It was the day when she would officially pull her daughter from that horrible school, and make sure she gave that principal a piece of her mind, if she was lucky, the threat of her filing a lawsuit against him and the school would be enough for them to fire any of those teachers that let such behaviour carry on for as long as it did.
For Izuku, it came to quirk as it meant waking up from another nightmare at 4 am, remaining in her bed for another 2 out of exhaustion and terror as she made silent prayers that Ms Kizuki will be able to find something they can use. Once it was time to get ready, she dragged herself out of her bed, taking a cold shower to force herself awake, along with copious amounts of caffeine after she got dressed in one of her clean uniforms, though she did have to ask her mother to use make-up to cover up the worst of her exhaustion as she looked as bad as she felt at the moment, the sensation of being watched still being on her despite it all.
This would be her first time leaving the apartment since the incident, the first time where she'll be at the most vulnerable to whatever schemes that monster could cook up, and it terrified her but as much as her mother wished to allow her to remain at home while she had this meeting, she was required to be there. She could only do her best not to think about it, as she knew she wasn't safe outside, not when Kai knew what she looked like, and her name. Her only calming thought was that Kai didn't know where she lived, nor did he know which school she went to see how when they met, it was outside school hours and she wasn't wearing a uniform.
Such an atmosphere proved too tense for many conversations between mother and daughter during breakfast.
The damned nerd hadn't been to school since Tuesday, a fact that worried Bakugo, as much as he wouldn't admit it to anyone. That nerd was many things, annoying, weak, easily frightened, maybe depressed, sad, skinny and many others, but she was also a diligent student, not as much as home but close. She had never missed a day of school, seldom late for class so he knew something was wrong when she didn't wasn't at her desk, quiet when he walked in with his lackeys Tuesday morning. A feeling that only got worse when she hadn't appeared for the rest of the day, with his useless teacher only mentioning it once when he marked her as absent on the attendance sheet. Then she was absent the following Wednesday, then Thursday
Even after these last couple of months of not having to worry about her following him like a sick puppy, it wasn't a feeling he liked…not having her there. His lackeys joked that she had taken his advice, which sent an ice-pick through his heart as he hoped not. He didn't mean what he had said, he didn't actually WANT Deku to die, only to stop getting herself involved in fights she couldn't win. For her to stop aiming for dreams she could never achieve. Sure, UA for some dumb reason had removed the rule barring quirkless people from the hero entrance exam and hero course, but who in their right mind thought anyone without a good quirk could even get into UA? If half the extras in his class didn't have a chance with their…okay for extras quirks, what hope did she have? As far as he was concerned, UA did it just to look good, thinking that one would be desperate enough to even try but clearly, they hadn't heard of anyone as desperate as Deku, who against the odds and all logic thought she could stand in the same ring as him.
And in his frustration and anger, he said something he probably shouldn't, but hell, she'll get over it. she always did…right?
Come to think of it, she hadn't been herself for a while now, had she? The nerd was far quieter than normal, which he first preferred as listening to her mumbling always managed to get on his nerves, but after a while, the silence annoyed him even more. During school, it was next to impossible to find her after one of the other extras dumped their lunch on her, she had become a ghost, nearly always silent, doing her best to blend into the background with the rest of the extras and always rushing out at lunch and when it came time to head home, more than that, whenever he was, she wasn't and when he appeared, she made herself scarce. Her earlier words about giving up popped into mind, and how at the time he didn't believe it as he thought she'll be back at it within a week but it stuck, it only got worse as she didn't even react to the insults, to the trippings, to whatever the hell these extras could throw at her. He had seen this first-hand a month after the incident with the slime villain when she went to collect her shoes and he just happened to be heading home.
She had just opened the small locker; which triggered a slime bomb which went off right in her face. She didn't scream, she didn't cry, she didn't do…anything, even when he approached the damn nerd and grabbed her by the shoulders to shake her to respond, all she did was just stare at him, at her ruined shoes, and at him with the same blank, terrifying eyes. If he could have said a positive thing about Deku before, it was she had the most expressive eyes, emeralds that always shined bright. But at that moment, they were dull, carrying as much light as a burnt-out campfire, they gave him a primal sense of…wrong to him. He had left her like that, and she didn't even react when he set off a small explosion right next to her hear as she, lifelessly, set about cleaning up the mess.
She was back in school the very next day as if nothing had happened.
Now missing school? Someone was wrong and he was going to get to the bottom of it. But then, she wasn't at school the next day, even the day after that which only added to his growing anxiety, was she dead? Did she go it? He hated that he couldn't just believe it wasn't true, not after seeing what he saw, as he couldn't tell if that was her limit. Regardless, he kept an ear to the ground and tried to listen for any rumours about suicides, or bodies of teenage girls being found in the area, something he kept up when Friday rolled around and her desk was still covered with insults, still burnt from his explosion…still empty.
Monday proved to be a break for him, as he had arrived at school early. Because of that, he had seen Izuku, seated outside the principal's office, he didn't know why she was there, all he knew was that she was alive and he was going to get answers.
"Where the hell have you been, Deku?!" She jumped at his question, nearly leaving her seat as she turned her tired, and terrified eyes to him. That was strange, she had looked at him with scared eyes for years, sure but this? This was a whole new level.
"Oh, hi, K-k-kacchan!" Just as pathetic as ever, but there was a tinge of exhaustion there as if she was too tired to even stutter right, but she hadn't answered his question. He got right up into her face, glaring down at her as she wintered like a leaf.
"Where the fucking hell have you been, shitty nerd?! You think you can just vanish for 4 fucking days and not say why!" She shrunk in further, muttering all the while at speeds and volumes he couldn't track which only angered him further. When he yelled for her to speak up, her response of 'not feeling well' made him want to smack her across the head. Not feeling well? That was the excuse she was going for? That was bullshit and they both knew it. As long as he's known Deku, she's had a crazy strong immune system, never getting sick no matter what she did, even when they played in the mud and rain, while he had to stay home the next day, she had gone to kindergarten like if nothing happened, the idea of anything that could keep her down for 4 days was crazy, something like that would need to her to send to the fucking hospital, not spend time in bed.
"What's the real reason, Deku?" He was getting tired of this shit.
"I'm. I'm leaving Aldera, I'm finishing online." What? Did he hear that right? The fuck would she be leaving now for? Summer break was only two days away, why would she leave before they could even fucking finish the first semester of their last year of junior high? But she wasn't giving him answers, just looking at their damned feet like they were more interesting that the conversation which only made him snap. He raised his hand, a small explosion popped over her head and then Deku…just freaked. At the sound of the blast, she jumped once more, her eyes looking right at his hand, but also…not? Either way, she went still, the terror that was there before being amplified
Before she screamed,
Falling out of the seat, she was kicking, screaming and punching even he jumped back in surprise at this, she was yelling about 'Staying away', 'Not to hurt Eri' whoever that was, and 'She's not weak', he didn't know how long he felt like he was just standing there, it felt like hours, it felt like seconds-either way, the door to the principal's office was near ripped off its hinges as an enraged Auntie Inko appeared and for a second that their eyes locked, he felt more fear shoot through than any of the times his mother had been pissed with him, but the second past as quickly as it came as she turned her full attention towards Izuku, scooping her up into her arms and calming her down. Speaking softly into her ear, hugging her close and keeping her face hidden in the crook of her neck.
It took her 10 minutes to calm the girl down, at which point she just fell asleep in her mother's arms, whatever terror-filled episode she had drained her of whatever strength she still had. Carefully picking her up, Inko got up to her own feet, clearly worried for her daughter while he and the principal could only really watch, not knowing what to do, or how to process what they had just seen. On her feet, with Izuku bunched up in her arms, no doubt using her quirk to help pick her up, she turned to them both with a glare.
"Katsuki." Her tone was cold, completely unlike what Katsuki remembered it to be, eyeing him like it was a piece of dogshit stuck to her shoe. "Stay away from my daughter, or I will not hesitate to press charges for illegal quirk use and assault, I would have already if Izuku hadn't begged me not to." She didn't even give him time to comprehend just what the hell happened, never mind her threat against him before she turned back to the principal.
"If your so-called 'star student' can do this to my daughter, I don't even want to imagine what your rotten apples are like. We won't be spending another minute in this farce of an educational institution; you can expect to hear from my lawyer soon enough." With that, she turned around and left, the principal following after her, sweating like a fucking pig as she tried to dissuade Auntie Inko from apparently suing the school? Which just left him standing there, awkward and confused about the entire thing. Was he right to think she had reached some breaking point? That reaction was far from just fear, it was as if she was scared for her life…and this Eri people. He turned to leave, to head to class to try and think about what had just happened, but he spotted something on the floor, where Deku had been sitting.
Kneeling to pick it up, he saw that it was a letter, one addressed to him of all people. Did…did she want to give him this before they left? Was that why she was looking down the entire time because she had this on her lap? He felt the urge to rip it open and read it but held himself back. He had already set the girl into a panic attack, he'll read this when he got home. As he walked to his class, he wondered if his old hag was going to go visit her. If she'll be allowed or even went to take him with that reaction from Auntie Inko, it was far from pleasant, he didn't need a rocket science degree to know that if his old hag wasn't already in the know, she would be soon enough.
This was by far, the strangest mission that Master Overhaul had sent him on if Sakaki Deidoro wasn't going to complain. The goal wasn't too hard, probably the easiest mission he's ever given, at least on paper. All they had to do was kidnap their target, a green-haired quirkless teen by the name of Midoriya Izuku, and they were to do it quietly, pretty easy right? It wasn't like she had some pesky quirk to worry about, how hard could it be to snatch her when she wasn't paying attention?
Harder than he thought. As he drank water, having been forbidden by Chronostasis from drinking till they had their window, and watched their apartment from a safe distance, he couldn't help but want to give her a hand. Overhaul had been clear that she wasn't an idiot and had already run into him and the brat and she made that clear, as for 3 days now, she hadn't even stepped outside the apartment, only leaving with her mother the previous day which Chronostasis thought wasn't the best time to grab her, as they'll need to kill the woman which would only bring unwanted attention to them.
But they had just switched up their strategy if they couldn't grab her off the street, they'll have to grab her from her home. So they called to ask for another one of the trash, Toya Setsuno to be sent to help with. Once the man had arrived, Chronostasis explained the plan to the fanatic blond who confirmed he could do it. so they wanted and lucky for him, as he wanted a drink, they didn't need to wait long as, after an hour, her mother was seen walking out of the apartment, as she walked down the stairs and onto the street, Setsuno used his quirk to steal her keys out from her purse right as she got into a taxi, all without her realizing it. With that done, they waited a few more minutes before they went in.
With the keys in hand, it didn't take much to enter the apartment without a fuss. To help keep things nice and calm, Deidoro downed a little sake at long last and activated his quirk, just a little so anyone caught in its effects would feel tipsy. With that, they heard a crash from the kitchen, walking in, they found the target on the floor, rubbing her head with a broken plate and glass nearby, she must have been walking when she was hit with the effects of Sloshed. Didn't matter now as she turned to see who walked it, doubt expecting it to be her mother returning after forgetting something. Her scream was muffled by Chronostasis, who also used his quirk on her slow down her movements for an hour, while Deidoro drank, even more, to ensure she wasn't going anywhere.
Still, she fought back which he could respect, even if it was annoying so he didn't feel bad Chronostasis reached into his pocket and injected her with a sedative, and just like that, she was out like a lamp. Which left him and Setsuno to grab her and get her out, Chronostasis locked the door behind them, leaving nothing of their presence in the apartment.
