Elizabeth watched as Kazuma dropped another batch of coins into the jar she had given him, she had given two jars, one that he had filled with paper money and the other that he filled with coins.
The kid had gone as far as to write his name on them, it had been a few days since she had brought him to the village and thankfully he hadn't caused any problems for her.
They had fallen into a routine, in the morning she would wake up and take him to get paid and get another stack of papers.
She would listen to the headache behind the counter and yell at Kazuma for not finishing the work she had given him before she gave him even more work.
The people in the village had even started calling him the boy in green, because of how brightly colored his clothes were, when compared to everyone else.
Every day she would watch him run around like a headless chicken as he tried to find his way around the village, only to find himself standing in front of an abandoned building or a place that had less than friendly people living in it.
She couldn't help but smile, the kid was either brave or an idiot, because he ignored everyone or asked people there for directions.
It was as if he was completely unaware of the danger he was in, even infants knew not to talk to certain people ad yet he was either completely ignorant or worse he didn't care.
'And done!" Kazuma loudly declares as he puts the jar of coins down.
"So what are you going to buy?" she asks him.
"Nothing, I don't want anything right now. I mean where am I even going to put it?" he answers her as he waved his hands around and showed her her empty apartment.
The two looked at each other for a long moment before they began to laugh, she had no use for furniture, so she didn't have any.
The only things in her apartment were a couple of plates, cups, a refrigerator, and everything she needed to cook food, not to mention her clothes and her weapons.
Everything else was a luxury that she didn't need, not because she wouldn't enjoy having them, but because she couldn't enjoy them.
"Yeah listen I need your help." Kazuma says to her as he starts to look through the stack of papers.
"If I help you I'm going to get a cut of what you make." she says to him.
"Yeah, I know." Kazuma says to her as he finds the paper that he was looking for.
Elizabeth couldn't help but smirk, it was the village's impossible mission, every hidden village had one, an impossible job that no rooky could complete.
Why? because it didn't exist.
'I'm not going to help you look for that thing." Elizabeth says to Kazuma who starts to look around for anyone that might be listening.
'yeah, so you know how I started going out to find things that were lost or buried outside of the walls?"Kazuma asks her.
'Yeah and I told you not to go into the caves because the sand covers the entrance." she reminded him.
"About that, I made one." he says to her
"You made one, and by made one what do you mean?" she asks him and she feels the anger inside of her growing as she fears his answer.
Ten minutes later
Elizabeth couldn't help but grab her forehead as she looked at the giant piece of ice.
'And you made that?" Reio asks Kazuma as he points at the giant piece of ice.
"Yes and no, look it was hot, so I came in here to try and cool down, but it was still hot so I started making the place cold."
'Every time it got too hot I would come in here and make the place cold, then one day I don't know how but that was there." Kazuma explains to everyone, while not mentioning the fact that he used his create ice skill, along with his breath skill and create water skill to drop the temperature of the cave quickly.
"Kazuma you can make ice cant you?" Elizabeth asks him with a fat tone in her voice.
"Yeah." Kazuma answers her.
'Give me the paper and we will lie, and lie about everything, so Kazuma before we deal with that thing did you do anything else?" she asks him.
Kazuma decided that it was better that he didn't mention the houses that he had to clean that were covered in booby traps.
'Nooo." he answers Elizabeth while he looks away from her.
"Done." Reio says as he holds a small piece of paper that has glowing letters on it.
The four of them quickly return to the village and Elizabeth tells the receptionist the truth, that they had found the giant piece of ice in a cave somewhere and we're here to get their cut of the reward for helping Kazuma bring it back.
The receptionist gave them a judging look but didn't argue about it, instead, she just took the seal that had the giant piece of ice in it and gave them their money before she glares at Kazuma.
"You didn't fill this in right." she says to Kazuma as she points at something he had to do a few days ago.
"Do you know how much paperwork you are making me do?" she says to Kazuma before she puts a mountain of paper on the counter and starts to separate them by color.
"See these, they're the ones that you didn't fill out, these over here are the ones people have submitted because you're running around doing things."
'Oh and don't get me started on the ones that people didn't fill out right or you did wrong." the receptionist says to Kazuma as she picks up a pile of papers from the floor.
'What?" Kazuma says to her as he looks at the mountain of work.
'Dont look at me this is your fault." the receptionist says to him.
'That's too much." Elizabeth says to the receptionist who immediately glares at her.
The receptionist lets out a breath and tries to calm herself before she starts talking again.
'Look, when people found out that he was doing simple jobs for next to nothing they started coming here, you can figure out what they wanted." she says to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth rubs her head as she lets out a frustrated breath.
"Look separate the ones that pay the most, and the ones that are dangerous and give them to us, everything else give it to him." Elizabeth says to the woman who raises an eyebrow when she hears this.
'This is so humiliating." Elizabeth says as she watches the receptionist separate everything.
'Kazuma, tomorrow is your day off." Elizabeth says to Kazyuma as the receptionist finishes separating everything and looks at her with wide eyes.
'Yes, you heard me, he's taking the day off." Elizabeth says to the receptionist who begins to look at her schedule.
"But he has to." the woman begins to say but Elizabeth immediately says.
"He's taking the day off." her words aren't any different from the ones that she just said but her eyes have a dangerous glow to them.
