Patrick's Secret
Chapter One
The smell of bread and freeze filled the air as Patric and Spongebob entered the restaurant, which was over half filled with customers either eating at their tables, walking across to grab ketchup, or entering the public restrooms.
One thing true about Patric that everyone knew was that he absolutely loved krabby patties just as much as everyone else did.
As the two stepped up to the counter, an annoyed nasally voice began to complain. "Why are you here on your day off?"
Patrick pretended to not listen as he laid his eyes out the window. It would be expected for his peers to think he wasn't in sync with the situation that was about to unfold.
"We're just here for lunch, Squidward," the spongebob began to happily explain, starting with the story of Patric getting lost in the fields.
The starfish was able to get every word of his best friend's co-worker ranting about how it would be better if he just got fired.
Squidward Tentacles, the Krusty Krab cashier, despised the sight of the two goofballs appearing at any costs. Patrick, however, was sure that he despised Squidward even more.
Not only was the lazy cephalopod grumpy every minute of day; with no explanation of why he was still able to keep his job going; but he was always trying to find ways to make Spongebob anxious and freak out over things that were not necessarily.
Patrick did not appreciate his dull neighbor picking on his best friend like that. In fact, the starfish was pretty certain that it was Squidward's only goal to make Spongebob miserable so he would leave Bikini Bottom.
"Yeah, Squidward, can you make krabby patties just as good as Spongebob can?" Patrick asked dully, barely laying his eyes on the squid.
Squirdward let out a scoff, as if he knew that the starfish was insulting him.
Spongebob was unaware of Patrick's dislike of Squidward, and only gave a humble gesture about how Squidward was just as good a cook as he was.
As a usual response, Patrick spaced out so it would be easier for him to not make negative remarks about his best friend's co-worker. Spongebog was surely to let it go by then.
Sitting at the table and waiting for their food to get served felt like hours to Patrick. The only way to pass the time was for his best friend to discuss their future fun plans for the evening.
It was difficult for that to happen when Eugene Krabs, Spongebob's current boss, demanded that the yellow guy work on his day off.
"Time is money, boy," Mr. Krabs said, "we are beyond busy."
Patrick made up an excuse to leave and walk around town so Spongebob wouldn't feel bad about ditching his friend. It was the least he could do for him, since the sponge loved his job more than anything.
The starfish casually made his way out of the restaurant so he could make his way over to the Bikini Bottom public library, the last place anyone would ever expect to find him. It was one of the few places Patrick often visited while Spongebob was either working or attending boating school.
"Howie, Patrick," came from Sandy Cheeks, the land squirrel and probably the smartest person in Bikini Bottom. Only her suite and air helmet would allow anyone in the sea to know, or even become acquainted with her.
Patrick dully and slightly peered over his shoulder to see his friend, as he sat at a round table in the Children's Reading area. Sitting there and falsely reading a children's book while secretly hiding a sheet of notebook paper inside, was the only way anyone would ever think just a little realistically of him hanging around in a place surrounded by books.
"Gee, I wouldn't expect you to try and read something," Sandy said with a grin as she made her way over.
Patrick instantly shut the book to hide his paper full of written notes, and held up the book with a silly smile. "The Pretty Seahorse has many pictures," he said.
"Uh-huh," the squirrel replied before giving some ideas on future plans with Patrick and Spongebob. The three often did a lot together, even if they were all so different from each other.
Sure, Patrick wasn't as dumb as everyone thought, but he wasn't near as smart as Sandy, who often used Spongebob as her science lab monkey.
Patrick wasn't in the mood for listening, so he pretended to space out as he actually went deep into thought. He didn't necessarily dislike Sandy, but she wasn't his favorite person either. He thought Sandy often used her intenallence as a way to brag about how wonderful her species was, which was slightly annoying to him.
However, Patrick was sure that Sandy wasn't acting that way on purpose, and that it was the squirrel's way of revealing her possible stupidity.
"So, how about it, Patrick?"
"Mmm?" The starfish finally gave his friend somewhat decent eye contact so he could hear what she was trying to tell him.
"You, me, and Spongebob hike the mountains tomorrow."
