HINATA

A WEEK LATER

"What do you think?" asks Asahi. "I'm renting this from the owner, but I clearly can't handle the cost alone. Previous roommates slowly left after getting better jobs." He chuckles. "Completely understandable." He scratches the back of his head as much as he can. The man bun he is wearing seems to be getting in the way. Asahi looks comfortable in some sweatpants and a tee shirt.

"Huge backyard," notes Tsukishima peering into the backyard. He is right about that. Has a nice little outdoor tent. The grass is so green with a lowly flower bed I know Asahi doesn't maintain. I wonder if I could convince Kageyama to grill out there.

"Looks good so far," states Kageyama with his hands in his short pockets.

"I'm going to go look upstairs!" I exclaim. My room is my domain. I need to see which room would be mine. I waited long enough.

"I have the master on the first floor," explains Asahi. "Help yourself to the upstairs. All the rooms are about the same." I head upstairs hearing footsteps behind me. I try to entry the bedroom at the end of the hall with Kageyama and I both trying to entry the room.

"Hey!" I exclaim.

"Hey?" he questions as we both still try to access the room. "You're the one who is entering my future room." We both struggle trying to get into the room first.

"Are you kidding me!" I exclaim. "I saw it first." We finally fall into the room with me landing on top of Kageyama. I hiss grabbing his hair as he tries to stop me but fails.

"Ow!" he cries. "Stop it! The room should be mine. I'm younger!"

"You asshole!" I hiss. "You knew I wanted this room." I straddle Kageyama as we continue to fight.

"You guys are at it already?" drones Tsukishima from the doorway. "I'm taking the room at the front of the hall so yeah. Whoever doesn't get this room gets the last one." The last room is across the hall from Tsukishima. He hums before walking away. Kageyama manages to flip me over pinning my arms to the ground.

"Still think you can beat me?" he questions. I struggle thrusting my hips trying to break his hold. It's not working. I glare up at Kageyama as he smirks at me. Bastard…..I go to move my legs realizing the position we are. This has happened more times than I can count but this feels different. Now that I know he is gay…..not bi but gay.

"Let me up," I reply.

"I guess I can," says Kageyama. He sits back on his knees as I wiggle my way out from underneath him grabbing my chest. "You okay?"

"Yeah," I reply standing up fighting down my arousal. Nothing like having a strong man on top of me and…..he felt good. I distract myself glancing around the room and it is large, well at least large to me. The window is big and beautiful. The walls are not white but an ivory color. Kageyama opens the closet that has huge with mirror sliding doors on it.

"This place is a sweet deal," he replies.

"Agreed," I reply looking out the window seeing the street below. So cool. "Let's see what the other room looks like."

"This room is what a 14 by 14?" he asks.

"I think so," I reply walking out the room. "You know I hate math." We walk down the hall to the other room. This one is the same, but I really dislike it being up at the front. What if I want to have sex? What if they hear me?

"What are you thinking?" asks Kageyama pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Um nothing," I reply wrapping my arms around myself. "I just mostly want the back one."

"You can have it," states Kageyama causally.

"Really?" I ask turning to look at him. Kageyama nods his head.

"It seems like you really want it," he replies.

"So do you," I reply folding my arms walking over to him.

"You seem like you need it more," he replies before walking over to the window just as wide as in the other room. "This is a really nice view." I walk up standing beside him.

"It is," I agree. I glance at Kageyama watching the sun bounce off his dark raven hair. "Thanks for letting me have the room."

"It's no big deal," replies Kageyama smiling as he stares out the window. "Your eyes get this little light in them when you see something you like. I would never want to take that from you." My mouth drops open in awe. "Anyway, when do you think we can move in?"

"I'm sure Asahi wouldn't mind us moving in sooner," I reply. "When do you plan on moving in?"

"After my parents come back from their trip," he replies. "They will be back next week. I only like being home when they are not there."

"I can relate," I reply. My mother can be a bit overprotective. I need this more than anyone would ever know. She doesn't know about me liking men and women. I plan to keep it that way. She worries about me enough. She knows my lifestyle would cause a lot of problems. I know I haven't chosen the perfect path but who's to stay I would end up with a man or woman. We shall see. So far, I have only been with one girl and one guy. I really enjoy his company. Not sure if we become anything. It's….complicated.

"Oi," he replies. I stare at Kageyama thinking maybe he can find someone to love. I'm certainly not rushing it, but he needs some experience. Get out there a little. I can tell he is a little lonely but would never say so. He holds on to our friendship tightly as well as our old teammates. He doesn't let many people into his world. He will have to if he wants a relationship.

"Kage," I say emotional enough to get his attention. He stares at me and I can see my voice caught him off guard. "Have you ever been out to a gay bar?"

"What!" he exclaims. "God no!" I feel stupid for asking. I mean no one knows he is gay.

"I think we should go," I reply. "Have a little fun." Kageyama glances down at his feet.

"I don't know about that," he replies. "I mean my gaydar doesn't even work."

"Even more reason for you to go to a gay bar," I reply. "It's harmless. We go out drinking, mingle. If you met someone great, if not it's whatever."

"I'm scared Hinata," he admits with his voice shaking. I glance down seeing his hands tremble. I grab his hands into my own.

"Hey," I say softly. "I will be right there with you."

"I guess you're right," he chuckles. "At least I will have you with me." This comment causes me to smile. "As you know we have training coming up. Let's get moved in first, then we can focus on my outing."

"How the hell are we suppose to do that?" I ask. "Training will keep us busy right until the season starts in late June. Which sucks. I can't even enjoy my birthday." Kageyama chuckles letting go of my hand.

"Not my fault they will keep us busy," says Kageyama walking out of the room.

"You're totally stalling!" I exclaim running behind him. I follow Kageyama back downstairs.

"You guys finally done?" asks Tsukishima standing in the kitchen. I like the kitchen. It not huge but just right for the space. I like the island that also has the sink and dishwasher on it. It's right across from the stove, plenty of counter space with the fridge to the right. The breakfast table enough for 6 people to sit comfortably. I can picture me and Kageyama eating there already.

"Yeah," replies Kageyama. "Asahi, when can we move in?"

"Oh," he replies surprised. "You can move in whenever. Rent is due on the 1st, late by the 5th."

"That's good," replies Tsukishima. "Most it is late by the 3rd."

"True," replies Asahi. "It caught me off guard too. I'm not complaining."

"Can I have the address?" asks Kageyama. "We are going to be having our furniture delivered here."

"Who's we?" he asks.

"Me," I reply waving my hand. Asahi giggles.

"Okay," he replies. "Let me write it down for you guys." Asahi runs into his room.

"New furniture huh," says Tsukishima walking over. "You guys must have big money."

"Whatever," says Kageyama. "We have been saving for this moment. Hinata and I wanted to be roommates since freshmen year. We couldn't afford it." Tsukishima smirks.

"I always wondered why you and the shrimp weren't living together," he states.

"Hey!" I exclaim. "I'm not that short." They begin to laugh as Asahi comes back in the room.

"I'm glad to know you guys are going to be my roommates," he replies. "I really didn't want to room with a bunch of strangers."

"Oh I know," says Kageyama taking the paper. I take mine from Asahi not believing in a few weeks this is going to be my home. We go over a few minor details before leaving. This is because of Kageyama. Leave it to him to want to know everything.

"Tsukki, when do you plan to move in?" I ask. Tsukishima walks over to his car.

"Probably another month," he drones. "Why? You guys planning to have a raging party without me?"

"What!" I exclaim. "No." Tsukishima laughs waving us off.

"You guys are so easy," he replies. "See you around roomies." Tsukishima gets into his car pulling off. I chuckle glancing over at Kageyama. He is staring at me so intensely I blush shifting me eyes. He doesn't look at me like that all the time. Just sometimes. It can get to me some days. Today is one of those days.

"Ready to be dropped off home," he replies. I roll my eyes.

"Not really," I mutter. I don't feel like going home but it has been a few days. "But it's time I make an appearance."

"Don't worry," he replies as we both get in his car. "Soon you will be your own man."

"So true and it can't get here soon enough!" I exclaim. "Did you want to go shopping together for our furniture?"

"Are you asking me that because I'm gay," states Kageyama. I glance at him baffled as he begins to drive.

"Seriously Kage," I reply. "I would not ask you to go shopping because you are gay. I just thought it would be something fun we can do together."

"Sorry," apologizes Kageyama. "I just keep thinking….."

"I'm not going to change how I treat you," I finish for him. "You know I would never do that."

"I think my mind is playing tricks on me," he replies.

"It can be like that in the beginning," I say tenderly. "You kept this secret for so long. When I first admitted I was bisexual I was terrified of being judged." I still am which is why no one knows. Only the people have been with me sexually know. Kageyama glances at me.

"Someone else besides me knows your bi?" he asks.

"Yes, but they figured it out on their own," I reply crossing my legs. "Their eye for men like me and you is pretty spot on and damn near scary." Kageyama appears curious like he wants to understand.

"So what happened?" asks Kageyama. "What happened after they found out?"

"Nothing happened," I lie gazing out the window. "They kept my secret." It's true. They became my confident, my friend, my lover….. We aren't in a relationship. Like I said it's complicated.

"Who is it?" asks Kageyama.

"I can't tell you," I reply. "I'm sure you understand recently coming out." I'm fibbing here. My lover doesn't give a fuck if people know his status. Kageyama nods his head.

"Yeah, I get it," he replies. "I'm glad you had someone to talk to….." I study his face. He doesn't fully feel that way. There is more to that statement.

"What are you thinking Kageyama?" I ask.

"I don't want to talk about it," he mutters. I know how he can get deciding to let it go. I know he is going through a lot right now. I want to help him. I feel like I know how and not at the same time.
