The last thing that she remembered was looking into a pit in Mt. Coronet when a sudden shove from behind pushed her forward.

Right. That was grandma.

She couldn't believe that her own grandmother would try to kill her. Who the hell does that?

"I guess it's my fault for trusting a complete stranger!" Celeste yelled out into the void. Her voice echoed in this space of nothingness. She was happy to just hear something.

Pwooooah, a creepy cry responded from behind her.

She tried her best to turn around, but it was hard given the fact that she was floating in nothing. Literally nothing. Is this what it's like to be dead? She thought.

Her trusty partner Froslass floated up to her. Celeste's heart dropped; she hugged her icy body tightly.

"Where are we?" she whispered, "Am I dead?"

No. I remember dying. It was nothing like this, Froslass said, placing her hands on her hips, I'd say that this is space, more than anything.

"Space? How can we be in space if I can breathe and I don't see a single light source at all?"

I don't know… Where is your bag?

Celeste looked at both of her arms and realized that her bag-and the rest of her team- were missing.

"I must have dropped it when I fell. Weird. Why are you here then? I could have sworn that I'll die," she shuddered, thinking back to the last things that she saw: the pointy ends of the stalagmites getting closer and closer until she closed her eyes and covered her head, despite knowing damn well that such a long fall will kill her anyway.

I don't know. I tried freezing the floor to soften your fall but you were moving too fast. I got closer and I guess I wasn't paying attention because I flew straight into a column and fainted.

Suddenly, a bright light appeared from Celeste's right side. She covered her face but fearlessly turned to the direction. She squinted and saw a tiny, rectangular shaped object floating towards the light. The bright ray slowly became duller until Celeste could easily make out a four-legged being with horns. The rectangular object floated into her hands. She clutched it tightly, realizing that it was just a phone. Froslass glanced over her master's shoulder. The two looked up to the being in the bright light.

"Welcome to my realm," the being said, "I am pleased to have thou here. I am that which all beings- man and Pokemon alike- call Arceus. Soon, thou shalt appear in a world different to that which thou had seen. Seek out all Pokemon, and thou shalt find me once more."

Without even moving, they levitated closer and closer to the being until the brightness was too much for their eyes to handle…

"Wake up!"

Celeste closed her eyes tightly, feeling as if a hammer were hitting the top of her head.

"Hey! Can you hear me?"

Every muscle in her body ached. She slowly opened her eyes.

She was greeted by three small Pokemon, which she quickly recognized: Cyndaquill, Oshawott, and Rowlet. Behind them stood a man with a purple poof hat and a lab coat, staring at her with clear concern. She looked to her side. Froslass laid face down in the soft sand. She sighed and rubbed her eyes, realizing that her contacts were still in.

She got up and looked around. She clearly wasn't in Mt. Coronet's cave anymore, but she also wasn't in that weird place of nothingness. She was obviously on a beach, behind her was a body of water with a boat tied to a dock. But this beach was nothing like the one in Sunyshore City; it was small and surrounded with lush greenery. Gentle waves crawled up the sand and fell back into the larger waters. Froslass yawned and floated up, studying the strange territory with her master. Celeste looked back at the man and squinted at a logo on his coat.

Oh crap, she thought, realizing that the logo looked a little too familiar.

"Oh thank goodness that you're okay!" the man smiled, "You scared me! I have never seen anyone fall out of the sky like that!"

Celeste wrinkled her nose. Falling out of the sky. She looked up and saw a small, dark circle in the heavens right above where she stood. Her eyes burned from the old contact lenses, she rubbed them again then turned to the man.

"Where am I?" she asked.

"Why in Hisui of course!" the man responded, smiling as if the question were ridiculous.

Celeste thought hard. The name sounded familiar… of course it was! Great-grandma Calytrix was obsessed with Sinnohvian mythology. Her excitement turned into waves of sadness. Grandma Calytrix was gone, she needed to remember that.

"Hisui? Ha ha, very funny," she retorted but the man's expression turned serious.

"Yes, Hisui. What is so funny about that?"

Celeste looked at her surroundings again. In the distance, she saw a fort. Behind the man stood a small shack with a wheelbarrow. Where the hell am I? She thought.

"Who are you?" she demanded.

"I'd like to ask you the same thing. I mean, you literally just fell out of the sky," the man paused, "And your clothing does seem pretty unusual… Something tells me that you're not from around here, are you?"

Celeste looked down at her outfit. She was still wearing the dress that her mother gave her for the trial.

The trial… Fuck. How much time has passed? Will the verdict be out soon?

"No, but I really need to get back home. It's super important!" the girl said.

"No problem! I'll try to help you in any way, stranger who fell out of the sky. Now tell me, where is home?"

"Celestic Town!"

"Hm…" the man thought for a moment, "I've traveled far and wide but never heard of such a place. Although, you must be from somewhere far away. This," he gestured towards Froslass, "is not found anywhere near Jubilife Village. In fact, this is a peculiar specimen… how did you acquire it?"

"I found her when she was a Snorunt and adopted her… wait. Did you just say Jubilife Village?"

"Fascinating… I am not sure what this 'Snorunt' is but, tell me, would it be okay if I document your friend?"

Froslass looked at Celeste.

"Uh, I guess? Wait, can you tell me where I am? Like, actually where I am?"

"Humanoid… seems to be wearing a kimono… I'm sorry, what did you ask?" the man took a notebook out of his lab coat's pocket and jotted his notes down.

"Where am I?"

"I told you. Hisui. Now, this Celestic Town… What region is it in?"

"Sinnoh."

"Sinnoh?" the man raised his eyebrow, "Ha ha, very funny. Almighty Sinnoh is a deity, not a place."

"Look, I really need to get back home so let's stop playing these games-"

"I'd love to help you once I figure out what this so-called 'Sinnoh' region is."

"It's a region. It's north of Kanto."

"Kanto? Never heard of it," the man frowned.

"Okay, so let's get this straight. You think that you're in Hisui?" Celeste rubbed her temples.

"I know that I am in Hisui. Here, you appear a little confused. And a gentleman would never abandon a person in need. If we don't find a way back to your home by sundown, do you have somewhere to stay? How will you survive?"

"I don't know," Celeste admitted, "I lost my bag with all my items in the fall."

"Oh, well they must be nearby. I can help you look for them-"

"No, not this fall. It's a long story."

Her grandma tried killing her, Froslass piped up.

"Anyway," Celeste glared at her Pokemon, "My things aren't here. But I have Froslass to defend me in case wild Pokemon attack me."

"What about the weather? Do you have any way to defend yourself against the elements?" the man asked worryingly.

Celeste didn't say anything. Her dress definitely wasn't warm, nor comfortable. Plus her heels were digging into her feet and she just wanted to change back to her sweats and sweater.

"I see," the man said, "Well, worry not, stranger! I would never abandon anyone in need!"

The three Pokemon next to the man cheered. Celeste almost forgot that they were there.

"Ah, I almost forgot!" the man said, as if he read her mind, "I was finally able to catch up to these Pokemon but they ran straight to the shore. I guess they had a feeling about you tumbling out of the sky here."

The man smiled again, "These are my Pokemon. And I see that you have one of your own. That is quite an accomplishment, especially since Pokemon are so dangerous. Although I suppose that I can't be too surprised by someone who literally fell out of the sky. Oh! I almost forgot to ask, what is your name, stranger?"

"Celeste Shirona."

"Ah, it is nice to meet you, Celeste Shirona!"

"Well, my name is just Celeste. Shirona is my surname."

The man gave her a confused look again.

"Never mind…" Celeste quickly added, "And what's your name?"

"I'm Laventon! I'm actually a Pokemon professor," he grinned with pride, "Well, this is not an official profession yet, per se, but it will be once I deepen our understanding of Pokemon. Pokemon like these-"

As he turned to his Pokemon, they all ran off in different directions. Celeste raised her eyebrow. He must have recently gotten them. If he were their actual trainer, they would be much more obedient, like Froslass.

"Oh dear," the man sighed, "Why do they keep doing that?"

"Some take a while to get used to their trainers," Celeste shrugged.

"You seem to be very knowledgeable on Pokemon… Do you think that you can help me catch them? I just don't know how to keep them under control."

Celeste and Froslass walked forward a couple of steps. Behind a rock, she saw a small glowing item.

"It's the phone from where we fell out of," she whispered to Froslass so that Levonton wouldn't hear.

And it has a text for you already: 'Follow my message and complete thy mission,' Froslass read out loud.

"Mission… seeking out all Pokemon? That's what the being in the void said."

"Aha! I found you!" Laventon cheered from a couple of meters away.

Celeste put the phone in her pocket and ran towards the sound of his voice. The man's shouting turned into cries of frustration.

"I am trying to use these balls to catch my darling Pokemon, but I do not have the best aim," he said sadly.

"You mean PokeBalls? Here, I can catch them," Celeste extended her hand and the professor handed her five balls. They were a little different from the PokeBalls that she was used to. They appeared to be made from wood rather than plastic or metal and were a lot heavier.

The girl crouched down and slowly walked up to Cyndaquil, which squealed in excitement once he noticed her. She threw the ball and easily caught him. She then walked to the Oshawott, which was an easy catch as well. In the meantime, Froslass rounded up Rowlet and Celeste caught it as well.

"Wow!" the professor exclaimed, "You're a natural!"

"Thanks. I did have a lot of practice," Celeste muttered, remembering the rest of her team. What happened to Infernape, Lanturn, Gardevoir, Mawile, and Rotom? Why was Froslass the only one that was taken here? Is the rest of her team safe? Or are they stuck on the floor of Mt. Coronet? She remembered when she was younger, she lost her team of Eeveelutions due to a wild Gyarados attack. Is her current party doomed to the same fate?

"'Practice'? That's amazing! Most people don't dare go anywhere near Pokemon… You know, I have this dream to collect the data on all of Hisui's Pokemon and compile the first record of them, a Pokedex, as we call it in the field. But, to gather all this data, I would first need to catch all of Hisui's Pokemon. Catching them with traditional traps- that is, nets or fishing rods- is quite inefficient and time consuming. And PokeBalls were invented oh so recently. Truth be told, even I don't know how to use them. Yet, here you came, literally dropped out of the sky, with a natural talent for catching Pokemon. I know that you said that you have to get back home, but I really need to have all Pokemon caught to complete my research… Maybe you can help me out for a bit?"

The idea made Celeste uneasy. She thought about how her father landed in hot water.

That sounds a lot like what Arceus asked you to do, Froslass told her, sensing her uneasiness.

"I'm sorry, can I have a moment with Froslass?" Celeste asked the professor.

"Of course!" he smiled and walked away with his newly caught Pokemon.

"How do I know that that was Arceus?" she asked Froslass.

Because the being looked like Arceus? And introduced themselves as Arceus?

"What if it's Giratina?"

I don't think that Giratina would ever be able to disguise himself as Arceus.

"I'm sorry, I just don't want to end up like dad," she folded her hands, "Speaking of which, the trial must be done by now? Do you think that he was found guilty?"

He was guilty without reasonable doubt. The trial is to see if he is innocent by reason of insanity.

Look, Froslass added, Arceus asked you to seek out all Pokemon. As strange as this guy is, it might be better siding with him. At least for now. You lost all your stuff. At the very least, he might offer you a bed to sleep on.

"Mr. Laventon!" Celeste called out to him, "I have made a decision. I'll help you until I can find my way home."

"Oh yes!" the professor cheered, "Thank you so much! First things first, let's head back to my village. I'm sure you could use some rest. I'll check every map we have to see where this 'Sinnoh' region is."

The professor started heading towards the fort. Celeste followed him but stopped for a moment to look at a mountain far, far away. Over it was a dark, shadowy cloud, brewing a violent thunderstorm.
