With the fight finished, and having finally caught her breath, Chara straightened herself out. The wrapping around one of her arms a bit loose, with a little bow made of the torn purple cloth. Bits of burned flesh visible between the strands.

She noticed that Flowey was staring over at a pile of leaves. A space illuminated by the various torches lit in the area. She tried to determine what it was that was so interesting, but couldn't really figure that out.

"What'cha lookin at?" She asked.

"The Save point." He said, sighing. "You should, thinking on it, probably save actually..."

"Eh?" She raised a brow, recalling her memory with Mychal, and the concept of saving and loading.

She didn't quite recall the concept of save-points, only the faint outline of the idea. Yet, she did know there wasn't one there, at least none she could see. Imagining it as a big shiny thing that would be...distinctly hard to miss.

Noticing her inaction, Flowey raised his 'eyebrow.' "Well?" She shrugged. "What, do you...not see that thing?"

"Uhm, well-" She glanced towards the entrance of the room. "I did see...something like one. I think. But that was when I was entering the room, and it was purple."

"Yeah...about that...your soul-" Flowey tapped her with a leaf. "why is it purple?"

"I just found red Lilac-ing." She snickered, while he glared. "B-but uh...I don't know...I just, woke up with it like this." She placed a hand to her chest as it shined briefly. "I mean it worked, right?" She glanced at him. "I did uhm...sort of die a little bit, and came back."

The flower hummed. "Well, that's true." He began to lean side to side, eyes closed, thinking. "Well, I know...there was supposedly another human that came through with a purple soul. But that was a long time ago." He noted, adding. "And, I never met them. So...that doesn't really help actually."

"How do you know they came through?" She asked.

"Cuz I saw the j-" He paused. "B-because someone brought it up. So...don't worry about it."

"K. Question Petals, how do you-" she tapped the flower. "know about saving and loading?"

"Cuz I can do it. Or, sort of?" He hummed a bit, glancing at the unseen thing. "It doesn't seem to be working with you here. Which is weird...the other human souls never interfered before. I figured since they were different it wouldn't matter...hmm, I mean, I can still save, but...definitely can't load."

"E-heh...that's weird." She noted. "Sorry?"

"Just forgot about it...we'll, sort that out later." He reasoned. "So uhm, we should continue on. If you're really set on leaving."

"Absolutely." She agreed. "Not really a point to stay here, right?"

With this agreed upon, she turned towards the room on her left, following it, rather than the path on the right. Venturing within, she noticed something set upon a pedestal. There were shiny things within.

Stepping back, she used what was left of the stick, putting it up towards a torch until it lit. Before venturing back within, looking over the intrerior further.

She found that there was a bowl on the pedestal. The shiny things within appeared to be individual wrapped candies. The entranceway leading to a dust-covered ring of flowers around the pedestal.

"Hey, there's candy in here!" She stepped closer.

"Hey idiot, don't eat those!" Flowey ordered appearing from a crack nearby. "This is, clearly, a trap."

She glanced over the 'take one' sign. "Hmm...maybe I can just take one?" She asked. "Might be chocolate."

"You'd seriously eat chocolate that's just laying around in some strange bowl?" Flowey asked in irritation.

"Yup." She replied. "Someone put up the sign, right? Why would candy not be safe?"

"B-b-because...Chara?" He looked stunned by that. "Yeah...that's just one more reason I can't let you wander off." He noted in concern. "Look, even if they are safe...they're probably super old, and they'll just make you sick. So, don't bother." The girl looked from him to the bowl. "Chara, I'm being really serious. Leave the candy alone."

An intense debate began to rage within her mind, eyes transfixed on the bowl of candy, illuminated in the light of her makeshift torch. It was an imaginary court-room case between herself, and various renditions of herself.

A version of Chara with a yellow sweater, and boots sat at a desk. "Hear ye, hear ye. The court of Chara is in session." She adjusted her suspenders and looked around. "We're open for discussion on the matter of potential fatal candy."

"Greetings." One wearing a white shirt and green hoodie said. "I mean...he's probably right about it not being safe." She reasoned, shrugging. "Best we leave it alone. Better to be safe than sorry, right?"

Another slammed the imaginary desk, wearing a long rainbow scarf. "But it's candy!" She looked around. "And it could totally be chocolate. C'monnnnnn guys!"

There was a murmuring between the many renditions of Chara observing the scenes playing out. Those within the main area consulting with one another. One or two nodding.

A third wearing a red and black sweater spoke. "I hope it's a trap. Maybe it'll hurt us...kill us." Tears dripped from her eyes. "Isn't that what we'd deserve?"

Another wearing a brown sweater made finger guns. "Are we gonna talk about that?"

The scarf wearer declared. "Nope!" While pushing the crying Chara to the side. "No bad thoughts. Only candy!"

One wearing a red shirt and black jacket said. "I have a suggestion. We take one. See what happens." She then added. "And if nothing happens...we take another. Rinse repeat."

A final one, with inky black eyes, and a green shirt added. "You're all debating this like it matters. When it really doesn't." She wore a perpetual smile and glared at the crying one. "The truth is...we all know, deep down, that we can never...truly...die~"

The imaginary court of Chara exchanged looks. Turning their focus to the last one, with burnt wrappings around her arm. Eyes closing, as she left her imagination. Flowing back to the present, staring at the bowl before her.

With a sigh of defeat, she turned and started out of the room, Flowey seeming quite content. And the moment he looked away, and let his guard down, she rapidly turned on her heel, and ran over. Snatching one of the candies, holding it up triumphantly.

"Ha!" She declared, hearing him let out a sound of dread. "See...nothing happened."

"O-okay...fine. Just, let's go okay?" Flowey requested.

The intrusive thoughts within beckoned. "Definitely should. Yup...that's a really intelligent line of thinking."

"Chara don't." He requested.

"Hmmm...yoink." She quickly snatched another.

Almost immediately, she noticed the bowl tilt. A sound like a clicking in the air, prompting her to step back. The bowl tumbling over, smashing against the ground. The pillar it was on breaking apart like pottery.

"That's probably not good," Chara said.

"What did you do!?" Flowey asked in alarm.

"Me?" She asked. "I didn't do anything!" She declared. "What did you do?"

"Chara, RUN!" He demanded, vanishing into the floor.

His sense of urgency transferred to her, as she quickly reminded herself of a fact she hadn't contemplated. Death was...painful, and she didn't like it. Her attempted dash towards the entrance was interrupted by a snapping noise, and a familiar snikt.

Her foot caught on something, causing her to trip, finding herself violently pulled up into the air. A spike having pierced through her show, which she managed to slip out of. Resulting in her falling with a thud to the ground, wincing, gritting her teeth.

She promptly saw the red leaking from her foot. The metal having sliced across it, when she was falling free from the shoe. The spikes piercing up, having reached the top of the door. With her shoe torn through, being held there for a time.

The flower appeared beside her. Noticing the blood, his expression turned to one of horror. Eyes widening, before he snapped from it.

"C-chara, are you alright?" He asked in alarm.

Despite the bleeding, the cut itself wasn't terribly deep, though it certainly hurt quite a lot. She didn't like the feeling of bleeding, and turned to examine her leg. There was a slide going up part of it, leaking a thin line of blood from where it had been cut.

Shivering, she pushed back when the door made another noise. The spikes began to lower, making the same awful noise as they retreated into the floor. Hiding beneath the flowers present throughout the room.

Flowey kept saying something, but it wasn't processing. Everything seemed silent, her eyes unblinking as she rose to her feet. Staggering, stumbling, and then limping over to grab her shoe. It was dusty now, and had a few holes punched through it, nearly tearing it in half.

Pressing her fingers through a hole, she felt strangely hollow. Her internal debaters yelling angrily at the one who made such a poor suggestion. As her imagination processed things, before her attention returned to the Flower presently looking at her in concern.

Sound returned slowly, as did her smile. "That...that was side-splitting, huh?" She joked. "Guess you could say...the door really likes Sole food."

"You almost died!" He exclaimed in disbelief. "How can you joke about that?"

She noticed the flower near her foot, wrapping vines around it tightly, causing her to wince more. He gave her a stern, and annoyed expression. Before sighing and severing the vines from himself.

"Sorry." She apologized, realizing that her hand was shaking still. "I mean, even if I did die, at least I'd have two shoes again." A disturbed laugh escaping her lips. "It wouldn't matter...much, right?"

"Chara-" Flowey began, noticing that she seemed to be tearing up some. "Eh, you alright?"

"Sure." She continued smiling adding. "Just uh...hurts a little is all." She suggested leaning against the wall to put her shoe back on, despite the holes. "T-thanks for the help."

Flowey looked her over. "Okay. No more venturing off the path. Got that?" He asked. "We're...let's just...get you home, okay?"

Chara felt both guilty, and a bit idiotic. She contemplated triggering the trap again. Try things over, without the pain she was experiencing now. However, she resisted this, deciding instead to Persevere, despite her stupid action.

She straightened herself out and took a deep breath. "Yeah...we uhm, probably should." She began limping. "Heh...ow..."

Flowey briefly considered his next action. Wagering she would undoubtedly get herself into more trouble before too long. Noting that all it took was him being out of sight for a second, for that to happen.

"Hey stop for a second...let me see your arm." He requested.

She did as he asked, the flower uprooting himself with a bit of effort. Climbing up her arm, wrapping around it. He came to rest on her shoulder, glancing at the flower necklace she still wore on her neck. Then noticing her little smirk.

"You're like a parrot now." She suggested, wiping her eyes.

He managed a smile. "Just...call me Parry."

"Howdy-" She said, mimicking his voice. "I'm Parry, Parry the Parrot."

"Squawk." He replied plainly, making her snicker. "Hey, can you heal at your save?"

"I don't think so." She glanced at her arms, still burned. "I don't think it does that...yours?"

"Not at present. Tried." He noted frowning. "Sorry."

With some newfound hesitance, the pair continued onwards. Heading to the right, before taking the left turn towards another room. Entered the next one, Flowey hummed in contemplation, pointing to the cracks in the floor, and strange window-like things on the wall.

"That floor is super fragile." He explained. "If you step on it, you fall down."

"Eh...t-to where?" She asked.

"Another floor. But it's possible to tell which one's which." He assured. "I think there's...meant to be a marking or something."

She hummed, limping forward. Giving an examination to the floor, keeping her away from the door across the end of the hall-like room. It didn't take her too long to notice that one of them had a strange mark on it. A little scorch mark, that the other sections lacked.

"Can you uhm...maybe push on it?" She asked.

"Yeah." He replied, as she knelt down, wincing. "Careful...don't hurt yourself."

He created a little pellet, tossing it at the spot. Causing the ground to give way. The magical tiles shining, a little, giving them the ability to look down. It was dark enough below, that it almost seemed like there was nothing, if one fell, but a pit. He huffed some, and tried another. Revealing the same nothing, save a distant floor.

"Maybe we can go down?" He muttered in thought.

"Is there...even a way down safely?" She asked.

"W-well there was." The flower huffed, thinking. "Look, I'll uh...I'll lower you down, okay?"

"Are you sure?" Chara glanced to him.

"Sure, I'm sure." Flowey replied. "Just, let me latch into somethin, okay?"

He looked around for a moment, before extending his roots into vines. Punching them into a more stable section of the floor. Giving her a nod, she leaned forward, staring down. For a moment, the idea seemed to inspire dread, her heart beating a little quicker. But she reminded herself she could just 'continue' if she died. Even if the pain would be bad...it would be okay.

With that macabre thought, she carefully gripped the edge, glancing to him. "Don't drop me...please."

"I won't, just...go." He huffed.

Lowering down with the vines she was able to see Flowey strain in the process. Farther they went, into the dark that was below. Her good foot coming to touch the ground, her damaged one gradually resting beside it. Her friend gave a little pant, strained while withdrawing his vines.

"Are you okay?" She asked quietly.

"Yeah...just-" Flowey blinked, whispering. "Chara...no sudden noises..."

She raised a brow, before looking around the area. It was dark, almost jet black in some respects. But her attention promptly fell on a couple Froggits, resting in one of the corners. And then to a fly-like creature relaxing near the door on the left side of the room, which seemed to be a way back up to where they came from.

Her heart beat faster at this. She wasn't sure they could progress, fighting that many enemies. At least, not as damaged as they were. His request for silence was met, however, as he pointed to the door leading out.

Chara took a breath, holding it, as she began to limp to the exit. Creeping past one of the sleeping monsters. Reaching near the other. Who shifted some, and let out a soft croak, when they passed. Both tensing up, facing it. Only to discover the creature was effectively snoring. The light from the hole starting to fade, as the magic stone that made it up, began patching.

Her companion motioned for her to hurry up some. Which she did. Reaching the door, and passage going up. Thankful to be out of this location, as they began to scale it. Gradually reaching the top. Pushing out of the strange wall window, and onto the floor. Chara finally letting out the breath she was keeping in, turning her head back to the broken section they had passed. Suddenly realizing something.

"H-hey Flowey?" She asked.

"Yeah?" He glanced.

"Why didn't you just...lift us across?" Chara inquired.

He was quiet for a moment, before groaning. "Let's just keep going."

"Okay." She sighed, the two getting up again.

The next room had a single rock, a sliding spot to a slot for it. And a row of spikes blocking the way. However, as it seemed far too easy, the duo approached it with caution. Examining every angle, checking every little thing. Finally, they pushed the rock, the spikes going down. Waiting for a few moments, the rock suddenly shifted back slightly, causing the spikes to burst back up.

"There's the trap." Flowey commented in annoyance.

"Hmm..." Chara thought, briefly visualizing a menu of sorts.

The menu glitched, and altered, as she struggled to imagine what it would look like. Deciding on something like 'statistics' it flickered to something useful. Settling there. Greeting her with simple things, her name, her health level, basic stats, and other options.

Chara

LV 1

HP 4/20

ATK 0

DEF 0

G 5

|Items | |Stats | |Cell |

Focusing on stats, it expanded. Revealing the same details as the first page, along with 'equipment.' Which was made up of the slots; Weapon. Armor. Outfit.

Her armor was marked as 'Flower Necklace.' It seemed to do nothing as actual armor, however. The girl checking it, noting some of the flowers had been crushed during her dodges, leaving the petals bruised, not unlike herself.

Her weapon was marked as 'Charred Stick.' It was badly broken at this point. The fact it hadn't completely shattered was amazing to her. She felt like it would break completely before too long.

She noted she could move left or right, something that felt odd to her. Something new. The girl briefly swiping her hand, the display glitching, as it began to display Flowey's page.

Flowey

Lvl 1

HP 4/12

Seeing the health, she felt somewhat anxious. Wagering she knew why his was so low. Glancing down at her foot, wrapped in vines to stem the bleeding. Still leaving behind faint bloody steps as she had been traversing things. She felt like there was something she couldn't remember, a way to fix this.

Shaking it off, she made a point to keep better track of it. With a sigh, she swiped the menu away. Her focus turning back to the rock. If they could get past this...surely they'd find Toriel. She couldn't have gone 'that' far, could she?

"Maybe...I can use the stick?" She suggested.

"What...to keep it from movin back?" Flowey asked, as she nodded. "Actually, that's...not a bad idea. It could work."

She limped to it, as Floweys vines pushed the rock into place. Chara shoving the stick at an angle that would hopefully keep the rock in place. Before the duo started away from it.

As she walked, the pair heard the rock try and shift back. Chara limping across the presently rescinded spikes. Glancing back in time to hear the stick snap, the spikes jumping up once more, inches after they'd crossed. A sigh of relief escaping her lips, a smile forming.

"I told you it'd work." She said, limping along.

"I agreed with you, idiot." He replied, smiling, adding. "Course...now you don't have your stick." He nudged. "Actually...thinking on it now, you could have asked me to get it. I could have held it into place, and then catch up with you, though."

Chara looked to his smug little grin. And glared some in response. Prompting him to snicker and chuckle.

"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up Petals." She huffed some. "Ya know, you could have suggested it, instead of losing our weapon for us."

"I mean I could have." He shrugged. "But I didn't want to steal your thunder."

"Uh huh, sure." She rolled here eyes, while digging out the candy from her pocket, as she limped on, briefly inspecting it.

Monster Candy - Has a overtly licorice flavor - Heals 5 HP

Upon observing the words she realized what she had forgotten only moments before. There were things that could heal them. Candy, evidently being one of them. Which she both appreciated knowing, as well as felt a little dumb forgetting.

The Flower raised a brow, as she held it up to him. "You want me to eat something that was part of a trap?"

"It will heal you. Just...eat it, nerd." She requested.

Flowey huffed. "If I die-" She glared a little. "okay, okay, jeez. So serious." He undid the wrapper, popping the candy into his mouth. "Huh...tastes like licorice." He asked. "You want one?"

"We only have one left." Chara replied, sounding hesitant.

He chewed on it as they proceeded onward. Entering the next room, which had a little turn, to the next general puzzle. It appeared to be a vast space of breakable walking space. Chara and Flowey staring at it briefly.

The Flower folding his leaves in contemplation. "Well...that's annoying."

"You know all this stuff, right?" Chara asked.

"Eh-heh, usually I uh, skip some rooms." Flowey admitted.

"Seriously?" She asked in frustration, hearing a sound like hopping. "How does that help us?"

"Well, usually I'm not guiding someone who's being a bit rude today. I'm usually just trying to avoid-" The world flashed red and black. "other...uhm...monsters."

The duo noticed a strange gel creature. Which seemed to have been resting. Only, to be knocked into by a rather familiar looking Froggit. Which grinned a little as they took notice of it.

"Croak." It said, roughly translating to- "Die."
