The next room wasn't all that vast.

It was a rectangular room with the walls meeting in a middle section. Another room, or rectangle of sorts beyond it. Leaves marking the center path, the divider btween the two and whatever lay ahead.

In the middle of the leaves however, there was a strange dark monster floating there. It was taking up all the space needed to get through. The girl looking it over, trying to determine the origin of this being.

"Is uhm...Flowey, is that a ghost?" She asked.

"We should...go back." Flowey suggested, looking unnerved. "Wait for it to leave."

"But, the froggits are coming." She reminded the flower. "We can't go back."

She expected justification for his suggestion, but Flowey seemed to be contemplating something. The room falling into an aching silence, the pair glancing back, and then to the ghost. The shadowy specter merely hovered there, doing nothing of note.

In fact, the ghost was doing nothing. Literally nothing. Just floating there, taking up space. At one point glancing over towards them, registering their presence.

"Maybe we can make it move?" Chara suggested.

"That's a terrible idea," Flowey stated quickly.

Annoyed at his lack of good suggestions to an alternative, she stepped forward and motioned for it to move. The ghost giving her a glare, ignoring her. The glare becoming a look of surprise, as it turned and gave her a proper look over.

"What...are you?" The ghost asked sounding confused.

"Huh...I'm-" She began.

"No way, hold up. You've gotta be kidding..." The ghost began, grinning. "You look exactly like that bitch's kid."

"That's...do you mean...mom?" Chara asked. "Why would you ca-"

Flowey winced, and said. "Can you just uh...get out of the way. For a minute." He noted. "We'll just be in an ou-"

The Ghost gave an evil look. "Shut up flower boy." They turned to face Chara once more. "Yeah, I know that look. Saw it in one of those photos she has." The ghost prompting the girl to step back. "Hey, wanna hear something funny. I went and made myself a dummy, that looked just like you." Chara's eyes widening. "Hell, I've been wearing it off and on for the last couple months just to watch her freakout." They laughed evily. "But...here you are. I'd say you're not dead, but I don't really know what you are. Just a freak, I guess."

Their general insults and commentary on her person were hardly the focus of Charas thoughts. Instead, a few things were clicking into place, her expression rapidly darkening. Her usual blinking, ceasing.

"You're the reason she looks at me like that." Chara said quietly. "The reason she's...like that?"

"A lifetime of needin therapy is how she got like that. I just nudge her towards the rope now and then." The ghost stated in grim amusement. "Not that a shrink'd do that crazy brawd any good."

To the ghost's surprise, the world suddenly flashed black and red. The phantasmal figure grinning, chuckling softly. Chara's eyes piercing their own, hate welling up in them. The red iris's, with a splash of purple in them, gradually became surrounded by darkness.

Napstablook blocked the way.

They let out a little yawn, while keeping their own evil grin. Flowey meanwhile tensed, and let out an anxious breath. The girls soul manifesting before her, grabbing the attention of the flower and the ghost. Some dark substance oozing from the cracks of the purple object.

Flowey tried to Talk their way out.

Flowey immediately said. "L-look, we don't wanna fight you. We just need to pass is all." - Napstablook appeared amused, at the groveling.

Chara meanwhile swung out at the ghost, only for her first to go through them. A sudden recoiling effect causing her to stagger back, looking confused. Uncertain of why it hadn't worked.

"Idiot. I'm a ghost. You." Naptablook seemed to stretch larger. "Can't." The grin grew disturbingly wide. "Hit me."

The phantom laughed, music notes promptly manifesting around them, each burning with a strange magical energy. Rising, and spiraling, as the ghost hummed to the beat.

They weaved throughout the air, the girl taking an instinctive step back. Suddenly they were cast forward, bursting in three seperate sets of three. Side-stepping each proved easy enough. Only for one to slam into her from behind, dealing shared damage to both herself, and Flowey in the process.

Glancing back, she found another few coming, and weaved to avoid them. Managing to do so, as Napstablook observed. Clearly curious how she'd respond. Flowey felt the strange sensation, like a voice in the back of his mind, the shadows seeming to seep from the edges of Chara's eyes.

Chara decided to Challenge.

Flowey was forced to attack.

"You think you're so tough?" Chara asked, adding. "You're just a bully. A weak one at that." Flowey let out a sound of alarm - Napstablook was not amused. Their magic burning hotter in response.

Flowey felt something tear at his senses, a compulsion beckoning him to seize the moment of distraction. Generating several pellet-like bullets, he then fired them out in quick succession. Napstablook didn't notice before they made impact, eyes opening more as they took damage. Hissing some at the injury.

"I get it now. So that's how you want to play it?" The ghost chuckled.

A new series of attacks were generated, this time running across the floor beneath her. Creating a cascade of darker colors, which, before she knew it, changed location. A section suddenly lighting up.

Trying to dodge it, she stepped away. Only for magic to burst from the other parts. Burning at her as she let out a loud cry of pain. The light vanishing, as another pattern appeared.

Stepping forward, she avoided the next wave. Having to move left, right, up, down. Before the attack finally passed. Her entire body shaking, as she struggled to stay up. Flowey in similar fashion looked miserably from the hits.

The pain became to overwhelm the hate, and her will wavered for a moment, as she cowered to it, struggling to stand. The sight clearly amusing the ghost even more, only for another round of bullets to collide with them. The Phantom growling at this action.

"C-hara, we need to run!" Flowey declared.

"As if I'll let you." The Ghost said. "Honestly, the only problematic one-"

Once again, a set of notes fired out at them, the girl rising, darting through them. However, she staggered and limped, evading each attack. Only narrowly evading the ones she could, from the nearly constant barrage.

A misstep, from the singed remains of her foot sent a spike of pain through her body, causing her to stumble. A bullet note approached her, burning hot. Before it could impact, a movement saw it hit something other than her own projected soul.

"F-flowey?" She asked, as the flower broke apart into dust.

A sudden empty feeling washing over her, fractured images assaulting her mind. Her legs gave out, as she fell to her knees, grasping at the bits of dust. Feeling confused, horrified, and guilty. Tears welling up in her eyes.

That wasn't meant to happen. She hadn't meant for that to happen. The words looping, before something intruded upon her thoughts.

"That one." The Ghost remarked. "Wow...and you were so fierce looking before. Guess it was all bluster." They said dismissively, earning her attention. "What's wrong princess...you wanna kill me, like I did your little friend, don't you?" They beckoned. "Well c'mon kid, give it your best shot."

The rage surged, and she let out a yell, while struggling back to her feet. She swung at the ghost repeatedly, using all the force she had left. Trying to muster something, anything. But it didn't matter, her attacks did nothing.

Swing after swing, nothing. And then, the wound on her foot opened, the immediate pain, toppling her over. Ending with her falling hard to the ground. Soul burning brighter, despite it all.

She looked up at the ghost, her eyes clouded with darkness like ink. Slipping from her as tears, and hatred. Not just at the smug smirk, but at herself.

"Thought so." Napstablook said. "Now, I know humans leave bodies behind...and something tells me you will too." They whispered to her. "So, maybe I'll puppet around your corpse, and see how she likes seeing you rot again?"

The notes suddenly exploded beneath her, the pain prompting a scream, as the soul shattered.
