The Purpose, Rewritten, Chapter 10 The chamber of secrets
March 25, 1942
The meetings between Seth and Abraxas had multiplied. Always eager to relive this extreme pleasure he had experienced, Seth did not reject any advances made by Malfoy, who besides, could not do without quenching Seth's bloodlust either.
It was close to midnight when he heard a hiss that chilled him.
'I have to kill...I've been waiting for so long...he's come back...I'm going to kill...kill...kill.'
He stopped kissing Malfoy and looked back at the stairs leading down of the Astronomy Tower.
''What's the matter? Anyone coming?' Abraxas asked.
Seth walked over to the railing and looked even lower.
'They are close…I can smell them…the smell of blood…'
He recognized Parseltongue but knew the voice could only come from something huge and it wasn't Tom's voice either. It took no more than a few seconds to figure out what it was.
"A Basilisk...don't tell me he found the chamber..." Seth muttered.
Abraxas approached Seth and also looked down.
"Are you going to answer me?" asked Abraxas.
Seth looked at the blonde and chuckled.
"Let's just say…I think the other Slytherin heir has a nice surprise for school, even though I think he shouldn't do that…" Seth said stepping back.
"Do what? And who are you talking about? The other heir? There is an heir of Salazar?'' questioned Abraxas, eagerly wanting answers.
'Bad blood…not this time…not this time…'
The basilisk's voice, rather feminine, had faded away and he wondered if she had already made a victim, but at this hour, it could only be a teacher or a prefect. Was it Tom who could control the Basilisk? Seth tugged at Abraxas' sleeve.
"Come on." Seth said.
They descended the stairs and headed for the main stairs on the first floor. In one of the hallways leading to the History of Magic room, Seth saw, in the darkness, a body on the floor, but with a slow beating heart. He gripped Abraxas' arm, stopping him in his tracks.
''What is it?'' asked Abraxas before taking his wand. ''Lumos.''
With the light of his wand, Seth could discern that it was Joanna Rose, the Gryffindor prefect. Seth couldn't hear or smell anyone around and let go of Abraxas' arm who walked over to Joanna and crouched down to see how she was doing.
"It's that Mudblood, Joanna... she seems... petrified." Abraxas said in an amused tone. He muttered the usual counter-spell, but she remained unmoved. "She's alive?" he asked, looking at Seth, as if that question wouldn't change his reaction at all.
Seth sighed before answering and approached her.
''Yes. Her heart is beating, Malfoy." Seth replied, wondering why she wasn't dead if she had indeed met the Basilisk.
"Ah." Abraxas sighed, almost disappointed. "Do you have any idea what… petrified her like that?"
Seth approached her in turn and saw a small makeup bag next to her body. He took it in his hands and saw that there was a mirror on the top part. To complete his theory, he looked around her body again and saw Joanna's wand near her leg. Her last spell was Lumos. He knew that she wore a lot of makeup and had probably used it during her rounds and, despite her encounter with the Basilisk, she would have seen it in the mirror, causing not her death, but a petrification.
''Tsk. She drank Felix Felicis, in my opinion.'' Seth replied.
''What? But that doesn't cause petrification...unless you mean she was lucky she wasn't dead?'' Abraxas said.
''Yes. We'll have to tell a teacher. Good luck to us not to look guilty." Seth replied with a sigh.
"Damn… you know the cure?" Abraxas asked.
Seth raised his eyebrows.
"Don't tell me you already forgot your second year Herbology class?" Seth asked as he stood up.
Abraxas pouted before thinking.
''Arf... the Mandrake potion, right?'' replied Abraxas.
"One point for Slytherin." Seth scoffed.
"Frankly, I'm almost happy that this potion is only accessible once a year during the summer. We won't have to see this horror for three months." Laughed Abraxas.
Seth rolled his eyes and tried to sense the person closest to them. He could recognize certain magical auras over a dozen of meters, recognize smells or even sometimes someone's specific heartbeat. He sighed when he recognized Dumbledore's aura on the main stairs.
"Don't look too happy, Abraxas, Dumbledore is the closest... I will look for him. Stay here.'' Seth said before turning on his heels and walking towards the transfiguration professor.
"And shit…"
Seth lit his wand and walked over to the professor who spotted him as he turned down a hallway.
"Ah, Mr. Vulken. Anything to report?'' asked Dumbledore.
"Indeed, sir. The Gryffindor prefect was found petrified near the history room. Abraxas and I were on our rounds, and we didn't see his attacker when we spotted her in that state." Seth explained.
"Petrified?" Dumbledore said as they walked a little faster in the direction of Abraxas.
Abraxas had his back against the wall, his arms crossed, and Joanna Rose, who had not been moved, lay not far from him. Dumbledore rushed over and leaned close to her, muttering various diagnostic spells with his wand. Seth wondered how far Dumbledore's knowledge went. Seth was an avid connoisseur of magical creatures, but if Dumbledore didn't know what it might be, Seth was sure he would ask Newt Scamander to find out. These two had worked against Grindelwald when he tried to mislead everyone with a Qilin, although he did not know the whole story.
"I'll take her to the clinic." Dumbledore said waving his wand at her. Her body rose from the ground, and he led her in front of him. "As for you two…be careful. While waiting to find out what attacked her, warn the other prefects not to stand alone at night. I'm counting on you, Mr. Malfoy, to change your round times."
Malfoy uncrossed his arms and put his hands in his pockets before nodding.
"Of course... professor." Malfoy replied.
Seth watched the professor walk away.
"He has no idea what this is about." Seth muttered, raising his eyebrows.
He returned to Malfoy and they continued their night rounds.

March 26, 1942
The next day, Seth waited for Tom before leaving the Slytherin common room. Malfoy was already on his rounds with the Head Girl.
"Why are you dragging your journal around?" Seth asked pointing to the little black book he had given Tom for his last birthday. "I told you, no one can read it or touch it without using Parseltongue."
"I...modified it." Tom said as they walked down one of the first-floor hallways.
"Hm." Seth said before stopping and making sure no one was around. "I heard the Basilisk last night, Tom."
Tom's face jerked at the mention of his name, which disappeared as soon as it came. Tom tugged on Seth's sleeve and led him in front of the girls' bathroom door. He bothered to look down the other hallway before turning to Seth.
"I would suspect you would hear it. Too bad she couldn't perform what she was created to perform on her first night on the loose." Tom said with a smirk. He moved closer to Seth for a brief moment before tugging his sleeve again and leading him into the bathroom.
"Don't tell me it's here… I don't even dare to think how you could…" Seth began.
"Open." hissed Tom in Parseltongue.
And it was by watching the sinks move and leave a big opening in the middle that Seth understood why the entrance to the chamber was in a place, not only almost impossible to find, but also because no one knew the chamber housed a gigantic snake.
"The piping..." Seth breathed.
"Exactly... Stairs." Tom said again in the snake tongue.
Steps came out of the spiral walls, descending all the way down the pipework and Tom quickly went to them and Seth followed. He heard the sinks return to their places above him, plunging them into darkness, and Tom lit his wand. Down below, everything looked like a cave. There were rough stalactites and stalagmites, but you could discern a path among the stone as if something giant had recently passed through. It led to a door with serpents having eyes like rubies.
"Open." Tom hissed again in Parseltongue.
The door opened after a complicated mechanism was activated with the moving metal snakes. They entered the inner chamber and Seth couldn't help but be impressed once again by the splendor of the room. He took his shoes off quickly, wanting to feel the magic present around him. Tom frowned watching him.
"But what are you…?" Tom asked.
"Magic… it's everywhere! Can't you feel it?'' Seth said closing his eyes, letting the energy around him fill his senses. "I wonder if Salazar wasn't trying to protect this school…" Seth realized.
The thought bothered him, as it was known that Slytherin was generally less liked by the other founders and that he would have created this chamber and hide a monster in order to purge the school of those unworthy of being taught.
''Exactly. That's what I figured out too. I am his descendant and I have to continue what he had been trying to do!" Tom said.
"Muggleborns have magical ancestry…why would they be inferior to other wizards if they have as much capacity for power as everyone else?" Seth asked.
Tom's features hardened and he clenched his jaw before answering.
"Tell me, Seth, you have muggles as servants, right? Don't you treat them like your inferiors? Don't you love the power you have so easily over them? Hmm?' asked Tom.
Yes.
Seth looked away, avoiding Tom's burning gaze.
''It's not the same thing…''
"THESE MUDBLOODS ARE AS MUCH GARBAGE AS THE MUGGLES WHO BIRTHED THEM! NO MUGGLES DESERVE TO GIVE BIRTH TO A WIZARD!'' Tom yelled before turning to Salazar's statue. "Speak to me, Slytherin, the greatest of the four founders!"
Seth turned to the statue and took a few steps back, watching the statue make a gaping opening for the Basilisk to pass through.
"Is that how it's called? Do you have enough control over her?'' Seth said nervously, backing up again.
Tom laughed coldly as the Basilisk exited and stopped in front of Tom. Seth stared down, unwilling to test the death gaze of such a creature.
''You shine like the sun… who are you?'' hissed the Basilisk.
"Seth…Beleg lhúg. My ancestor is a Slytherin, but not Salazar." Seth hissed.
Saying words in Venthyr in Parseltongue was extremely weird. Nevertheless, the Basilisk understood that Seth held her in high respect. She tilted her head, too close to Seth who closed his eyes this time and felt the forked tongue brush against him.
"You can open your eyes, Seth…she decides when her gaze is lethal or not." Tom said wearily and tucked his diary into a pocket of his robe.
Seth slowly opened his eyes, seeing a gigantic mouth and staring eyes with translucent green vertical pupils. He gasped in surprise and in wonder, placing his hand on the scales and feeling cold to the touch.
"Beautiful." Seth muttered in Parseltongue. The Basilisk hissed in response. "How does she… know…?"
"I'm the one telling her and showing her." Tom said pulling out his wand.
He waved his wand in the air and smoke came out and took shape. The shape transformed into a perfect replica of Myrtle Warren. Then, the smoke kept coming out of his wand and took shape another four more times, and they were all Muggle-born wizards.
"But…Tom…"
"Don't call me that! Especially you!'' spat Tom.
Seth sighed and shook his head. He had heard the name the other knights called him, but still in their closed group. This name that represented him, in a way, since Tom was only afraid of one thing, even if he denied it, and that was death.
"Voldemort." Seth whispered.
Tom smirked and then looked at the Basilisk.
"These rascals are in their dormitory for this time, we will have to wait until later. I'll bring you food.'' said Tom in Parseltongue. "Go back to your lair."
The smoke shapes dissipated, and the Basilisk returned to the statue, which closed behind her. Tom had moved closer to Seth as he fumed, holding his tongue, but to no avail.
"Why..." Seth began angrily, but Tom put a finger to his lips.
"Don't question me, Seth. You will never regret my decisions. I know what you want, what you're worth, but you have to let me do what I want! I'll be the greatest wizard in the world!'' Tom said removing his finger, but Seth grabbed his wrist, pulling Tom closer to him.
Seth was slightly taller than him, and much more imposing.
"And me, what exactly is my place if I don't approve of some of your decisions, hm?" Seth asked dryly, feeling the anger rising higher in him. ''For now, I only see a power-hungry kid who doesn't even think before acting! For heaven's sake, Tom, you're using an incredible creature for the purpose of killing wizards!'' Seth continued.
Tom snapped his wrist out of Seth's grip and took a few steps back before pointing his wand at him. Seth didn't flinch, knowing full well that he could dodge any spell Tom dared to throw at him. He just glared at him instead.
"Tenebris Dolorem!" said Tom.
A little surprised at the dark pain spell, but prepared nonetheless, Seth used one of those vampiric powers that allowed him to move faster and moved sideways, dodging the jet of black light that swept past him. Tom blinked, visibly surprised, but started again with various spells, some mute, some audible, but Seth dodged them one after another. Water splashed through the air for each spell that hit the puddles, and debris was thrown when spells hit statues or the ground.
Tom was radiating anger. His reddish face was beading with sweat, and he was out of breath. Seth lost patience with this useless fight and went to strike Tom's hand, who dropped his wand, to then go behind his back and lock his arms with his right and pull his brown hair with his left hand, thus showing Tom's neck where his heart was beating strongly.
"Do you want to come to this, Tom? Breaking that trust we had between the two of us?" Seth said gravely.
Tom's scent, a mixture of pine and autumn leaves, filled his nostrils. His magic radiated from his body, and it was only a matter of putting his mouth there to drink the divine nectar of life that he adored so much to taste this magic.
"That's it... go ahead." Tom said, as if to taunt him.
The temptation was there. Seth no longer felt Tom pushing against him, waiting for him to make up his mind. He put his tongue on the skin and slid it up to his ear. He felt Tom shiver.
"Why?" Seth whispered. "But why would you let me do this to you?"
"I see you acting with Malfoy. The looks he gives you… and the others… the others talking nonstop about the girls, about you, and even about the teachers. I don't feel any of that. I don't see the point of stopping at that. But you… would you even be able to make me feel anything?" Tom finished in an almost inaudible tone.
Feel nothing? Seth released his grip on Tom and turned him towards him. He placed a hand on his cheek, then pressed his lips to his. Tom's lips were warm, soft, inviting, poignant, addictive… He could kiss him for hours on end he loved those lips so much.
Tom put his hands behind Seth's head and back and pulled him closer to his body, forcing a deeper, more passionate kiss. Their mouths parted for a gentle tongue-fight, but a moment later, Tom bit Seth's lip, causing drops of blood to flow into Tom's mouth.
The effect was instantaneous, and everything came crashing down. Tom's heart was pounding, his eyes widened, and a feeling of euphoria washed over him.
"Ah... haha, ha! What's… what's that… that drum…'' Tom said before bending over under Seth's incredulous eyes.
He knew what other people's blood did to him, but Tom's reaction to his blood was completely unknown to him. His father had never told him about it. He licked his lips, stopping the flowing blood.
"Tom...I don't think that was a good idea..." Seth said becoming more and more worried.
Tom straightened up and took a deep breath.
"My heart...it's my heart...Salazar...as good as dark magic..." Tom hissed in Parseltongue before putting his fingers to his lips. His gaze lingered on Seth. "Once again, you will never cease to amaze me."
Tom took a step toward Seth, a step so fast it was inhuman. Seth quickly understood that his blood had given Tom vampiric effects, that all his senses had increased tenfold and that he had no idea how to act, both he and Tom, and Seth began to hope that it wouldn't last long. Tom had grabbed hold of Seth's collar while he was lost in thought and pulled him with superhuman strength towards him, but Seth pushed him away.
"NO!" cried Seth.
He backed up and fled in the other direction, not looking back. Soon enough, he was now in the Forbidden Forest, his heart racing.
He didn't sleep that night, brooding over what had just happened. In the morning he wrote a letter to his father and watched the owl go away. It may have been a coincidence, but another owl arrived and landed in front of him, holding out a leg with a letter on it. He untied it and began to read.
Nin Còon,
I have their addresses. They have a wife and children.
Lazarus
Anyone else who read this letter wouldn't have understood, but Seth knew that Lazarus was talking about Felipe and Daniel, the two aurors who had betrayed the vampires. He burned the letter before taking another parchment and writing him just two words: This summer.

Dumbledore was reviewing his students' latest tests when he thought back to the day that had just passed. His fifth-year class with Slytherins and Ravenclaws had gone as usual, except for Seth Vulken's thirty-five-minute delay. He had mentioned not feeling well before taking a stamina potion. He did not mind, since he had completed the test like everyone else despite being late. What bothered him was his reaction with Tom Riddle. Not only He hadn't sat next to him, but he had given him several looks during the rest of the lesson to which he only saw smirks from Tom in response.
In the afternoon, another Muggle-born student had been petrified, in broad daylight. And that was not all: the fat monk, Hufflepuff's ghost, was also petrified, and he was found in front of the petrified student. The director then intervened by asking the teachers to accompany the students to the next lesson and that there was now a curfew at 6:00 p.m.
Alongside his many parchments, he had taken out the book written by his friend Newt Scamander, Fantastic Beasts. He only mentioned one creature capable of petrifying his enemies, and that was the Basilisk. Was it really that snake that was in the school right now? The legend of the chamber of secrets which would have been created by Salazar Slytherin and would have hidden there a monster able to get rid of Muggle-borns?
He remembered Tom telling him he could talk to snakes and, behind his respectable, perfect boyish looks, could he be the one who found that room and would use the snake to get on with what Slytherin wanted to accomplish? He rubbed his temples with his fingers, sighing.
"What did Tom do to make you look at him like that, Seth?" Dumbledore muttered aloud to himself.
Seth Vulken, even though he doubted that he was ultimately a real vampire, he had this feeling that the students weren't in danger with him. He had never replied to students who annoyed him or tried to provoke him. He had even seen him several times with other students from other houses helping them with their homework and lessons. When he had tried to find out more about Seth by writing to Nicholas Flamel, he had only had one sentence for an answer.
Albus,
What would you do if someone constantly kept asking you questions about your child?
Nicholas Flamel
Was Seth Vulken actually Seth Flamel? Why would the Flamels hide the birth of their child from him? His theory that Seth was a vampire had been put aside and he didn't know what to think, but one thing was certain, although Nicholas was his friend, this answer told him enough to drop his many questions and accept this student like he would do it with anyone else, regardless of their appearance and origin.
Which still didn't solve the problem the school had at the moment. He had to find this chamber, otherwise the school would close soon.

(Beware, explicit scene)
Two more months passed and on three more occasions Muggle-born students were petrified. Seth began to think that Tom would end up killing a student before the end of class because those students couldn't all be that lucky... having glass, a mirror, water, or a ghost nearby, saving them from death from the gaze of the Basilisk. He had received his father's letter explaining that ingested vampire blood kills or drives humans who consume it mad, as a reason to why a childe's heart stopped beating. No one knew what vampire blood could do to wizards.
In addition to avoiding Tom, he avoided Abraxas as best he could, although that night before curfew, Abraxas had grabbed him and taken him to a broom closet before kissing him passionately.
"Two months...two months of you avoiding me, not telling me anything, not coming to knight meetings anymore." Abraxas said as he removed Seth's cloak and unbuttoned his shirt.
He would have liked to push him away, he would have liked to run away, but his body was in need, in need of touch, of pleasure, of blood…all that Abraxas gave him without asking anything, without saying anything and he was there, in front of him, covering him with those ardent kisses, burning with desire. Soon enough, his clothes were on the ground, and the blonde was on his knees, stroking his cock with his hands as his fingers brushed his anus. His mouth enveloped his testicles, and his tongue continued its way to the tip of his penis and then coated his erection with saliva and disappeared into his throat.
Abraxas massaged his cock at the same time and looked at Seth's face, which now had jet black eyes. Abraxas let go of Seth's phallus and stood up before taking his mouth and pressing his lips against his. Abraxas' tongue licked Seth's long, sharp teeth and he cut himself in the process. Unfazed by this gesture, Abraxas thrust his tongue further into Seth's mouth and let his blood pour into him. Seth's hands found themselves on Abraxas' back, pushing him closer and his fingernails piercing the flesh.
Abraxas groaned in pain and huffed but placed one hand in Seth's hair and the other on top of his ass. When they needed air, Seth broke the kiss and started to kiss the blonde's jaw and move towards his ear, which he sucked for a moment and moved down his neck with his tongue. His left hand moved up to the blonde's hair, and he clenched his fingers, taking a grip to pull his head to the left.
''Yes! I've been waiting for this moment for so long!'' moaned Abraxas.
Seth breathed in the blonde's sweet scent and decided he wanted more of him. He released him and grabbed him by the shoulders before turning him around, facing the wall and slamming him against it.
"Ah… But what are you doing?" asked Abraxas, feeling the coldness of the stone wall against his chest.
Seth stared at the blood running down Abraxas' back, the result of his fingernails piercing the skin. He licked the skin, tasting the blood that made him think of the red wine he'd had at Malfoy Manor. Abraxas shivered at the touch of the tongue. Seth placed a hand on Abraxas' buttocks and ventured in the middle with a finger that was close to the opening.
"Would you be ready for me, Abraxas? I want to hear you scream my name. I want to hear you beg me over and over again." Seth whispered in the blonde's ear before pushing a finger, whose nails were now retracted and normal, into his anus.
Abraxas moaned and stuck his ass out towards Seth for better access.
"I'm always ready for you Seth…I was going at your pace, not mine." Abraxas said under his breath.
Seth sneered and stuck in a second finger before doing a circling motion to loosen the muscles, but to get to the size of Seth's cock, it would take at least three fingers. Abraxas moved his hand down to his own phallus and massaged himself at the same time. Seth grabbed Abraxas's hand away from him.
"I didn't say you could touch yourself." Seth growled.
"Ah, Salazar. Are you getting the upper hand now?'' Abraxas replied.
"And why not?" Seth replied, thrusting a third finger into Abraxas.
Seth pushed the blonde's hair to the left and ran his tongue down his neck again. The pleasure that awaited him excited him more and more and made sure that he no longer thought of Tom, nor of Muggle-borns. He withdrew his fingers before placing himself and thrusting his rod into Abraxas's buttocks. Abraxas cried out as a pleasant electric shock also shot through Seth's body. He remained motionless for a moment, giving Abraxas time to relax, but also to tame this new sensation.
"Please...move." Abraxas begged.
Seth smiled and placed his right hand on Abraxas' hip and his left hand on his back, stroking him gently. He backed up before sinking again, eliciting another moan from Abraxas.
Abraxas had his hands on the wall, and he was leaning over for easy access to Seth. With each stroke Seth gave, a jolt of pleasure ran through his body and his hand found itself on his cock again. Seth groaned and took his hand away again.
"Damn it… SETH!" yelled Abraxas.
Seth laughed and continued his movements, faster and faster. The closet echoed with guttural sounds with skin-to-skin clapping. He felt his pleasure rising rapidly and before he reached his climax, he placed his arms under Abraxas' shoulders and pulled him up into a straight position and sunk his teeth into his neck. As his venom poured through Abraxas's body, he lowered his right hand to his cock and began massaging it greedily.
With a scream, Abraxas ejaculated with such force that he began to tremble as Seth unloaded into him in turn.
This feeling of pleasure was unmatched, and Seth promised himself to do it again as often as he could. If only to forget the everything else.
"Holy shit, Seth." Swore Abraxas, gasping.
Seth still had his mouth on her neck, sucking on the skin with his eyes closed. He gently removed himself, his flaccid member dropping his cum onto the floor.
"Mmm, I never would have thought..." Seth began in Parseltongue, when he heard the Basilisk.
'Kill…now…NOW!'
"If you wanted to turn me on again...keep it up." Abraxas said turning around and wanting to kiss Seth when Seth put a finger to his lips.
"Abraxas. Something just happened.'' Seth said seriously.
Abraxas looked at him for a moment and frowned. They hurriedly cleaned themselves with spells and got dressed before leaving the closet.
Suddenly, Seth sensed it. A dark magic of unparalleled immensity seemed to come from the ground. His affinity with magic couldn't be hidden from him, it was obviously Tom's signature. But what had he done?
