"If an injury should be done to a man, it should be so serious that his revenge is never to be feared."

The Purpose, Rewritten, Chapter 11 Revenge

June 13, 1942 (Scene edited between film and book)

Seth watched as the Mediwizards from St. Mungo's, the wizarding hospital, brought Myrtle Warren's body on a portable stretcher. The teachers were silent, not knowing what to say or do, when he heard Tom talking to the headmaster.

"No, Tom, it's too dangerous, the school must close, until the culprit is found." Said Headmaster Dippet.

Seth raised an eyebrow. He knew very well that Tom hated the orphanage so much that he would do anything to never go back there, and since the school was closing, he would have to stay there, even for the next year.

Seth was boiling inside. Tom had managed to kill a witch, simply because she was Muggleborn. But, the more he looked at Tom, the more he thought he had done something even more heinous than the murder of Myrtle Warren, but he didn't know what.

"Seth, can I talk to you for a moment?" Dumbledore asked softly after touching his shoulder.

Seth jumped before turning to him and nodding.

"Of course, Professor." Seth said before following him as Tom descended the stairs near them with an almost furious step.

Dumbledore watched him pass suspiciously and Seth wondered what Tom was going to do. Seth looked at Dumbledore, who pursed his lips and shook his head, and Seth decided then to follow Tom.

He followed him from a distance, for a while, to the dungeons in the school basement. He slowed down before stopping in a hallway. Seth could hear a whisper from the other side of a door: it was Hagrid.

"You hear him, don't you?" Tom said in an almost equally low tone, knowing that Seth had followed him.

Seth moved closer to him.

"He's talking to someone…he's telling him to run away." Seth muttered.

Tom smirked and nodded.

"Yes... an Acromantula." Tom said. "Now is the perfect time to use it against him."

"What?" Seth replied as Tom took a few quick steps and opened the door where Hagrid was.

He pointed his wand at him.

"Good evening, Hagrid." Tom said. Hagrid jumped up and slammed the chest shut next to him. "I will have to take you to the authorities. I don't think you thought it would kill anyone..."

Seth frowned. An Acromantula couldn't have done that.

"You can't... you don't understand!" Hagrid said nervously.

"The parents of the dead girl will be here tomorrow. The best Hogwarts can do is make sure the thing that killed their daughter is brought down." Tom said.

"It wasn't him! Aragog never killed anyone…ever!' attempted Hagrid.

"Monsters don't make good pets, Hagrid." Tom said looking empathetic. "Now stay away."

Hagrid stood in front of the chest and could now see Seth.

"No!" moaned Hagrid before shooting a pleading look at him.

Although he valued all creatures almost as much as Hagrid, he wasn't sure he would do anything to defend him. Even though the Acromantula was innocent, for now, having one was dangerous.

"Away, Hagrid!" Tom said raising his wand.

''No!'' shouted Hagrid again.

"Cistern Aperio!" Tom said, making a circular motion with his wand and pointing it at the trunk which opened with a bang.

A huge spider, the size of a small dog, quickly climbed out of the trunk and snuck between their legs, then passed very close to Seth. Seth watched the Acromantula pass and blinked.

"Arania Exume!" Tom called out and the jet of light exploded at Seth's feet a split second after Aragog passed. "Ah, whatever." Tom continued before pointing his wand again at Hagrid.

"Aragog!" said Hagrid, one hand reaching into the void.

"They'll take your wand, Hagrid. You will be expelled for what you have done.'' assured Tom.

"Seth! Can't you tell Riddle? You know very well that Acromantulas are harmless!'' begged Hagrid.

Seth looked puzzled before answering.

"Harmless? Hagrid… these creatures are extremely aggressive and cannot be tamed. I even wonder how you got it.'' Seth said before closing his eyes for a moment. "Salazar, it's not the first time you've been surprised with animals, but now..."

"You have gone too far, Hagrid. Come on, now.'' Tom said, confirming Seth's words.

"But...I didn't say..." Seth protested.

It wasn't the Acromantula that killed Myrtle.

''IT IS! I said come on!' said Tom dryly and waving his wand at Hagrid, indicating to him to follow him and that he wouldn't mess around.

And it happened just as Tom said it would.

Hagrid was expelled out of school after they broke his wand in half. Tom had that beautiful speech, manipulating them to the very last, all hanging on his lips and drinking in his words of how he found it was Hagrid who brought creatures year after year. Seth knew some of them, but none had been dangerous before the Acromantula. He was totally unaware that Hagrid possessed Aragog, but still, he hadn't attended the meetings of the knights, where he was sure the information had passed. Tom had several spies all over the school, but Seth easily avoided them due to his senses, but it blinded him to other things going on in the school.

Only once did the headmaster ask him to confirm Tom's words, and as he felt the stares of the teachers, the ministry, Tom... he nodded before looking down.

Tom received a medal for service to the school and before the end of the classes, he also received the medal of academic merit. Although Seth had performed as well as him, he thought that the director had given him this medal because he already adored Tom, but anyway, his thoughts were on more important things.

Like towards Felipe and Daniel.

"There is the Quidditch World Cup this summer. Shall we go together?" Yaxley asked as they sat on the train.

Seth was looking at Tom who was reading a book. Something was wrong with… his body? His magic? He couldn't put his finger on it.

"Seth, Yaxley asked you a question." Tom said without looking up.

"My father has already bought the tickets in the ministers' box, and there is always room." Corban added.

"Yeah, I'll come, Corban." Seth said thinking it might distract him after the horrible things he was planning on doing to two aurors before that infamous game.

July 2, 1942, Vulken Manor, Egypt

(Warning, very graphic violence)

Pulling off the Moody family had required the intelligence of Lazarus with the collaboration of Vincent Vulken at the Ministry and a bit of magic from Seth. Lazarus had been watching the Moody family for several days before sending by owl, a watch for Felipe. The watch had been sent as a *gift* from the ministry for service as an auror. What Felipe didn't know, was that this watch was a portkey with a countdown timer.

At each meal, Felipe, his wife, and their son held hands before eating and said a prayer. And yes, even among wizards, religion existed. Seth had made this portkey illegally in conjunction with Vincent so that the portkey would not appear in Ministry records.

Thus, at 6:30 p.m. precisely, the portkey activated, and the Moody family was now in Egypt, in front of King Vulken. Without having any time to react, their wands found themselves in Seth's hands and the three had been brought to their knees with their hands behind their heads. Seth recognized the boy, Alastor Moody, a Hufflepuff, who had left Hogwarts when Seth was entering 3rd year.

Felipe attempted wandless magic, pushing the vampires hard against the walls as he got to his feet, but after the initial shock, Seth used his speed to grab him from behind and lock his arms with his right arm and pull his hair with his left. The magic wands were now on the ground.

"I knew you were just monsters! Here is the proof again!'' Said Felipe angrily.

His wife moaned as Greisha, one of the vampires who had followed Seth from London, took her the same way Seth had. Lazarus had grabbed their son by the throat and slammed him against the wall.

"And you think you're better than us after what you put us all through?" Nathaniel said as he straightened his clothes.

The king whistled and two Rottweiler dogs entered and stood straight like soldiers at his side. Nathaniel moved towards Felipe, who tried to move and use his magic a second time, but Seth pushed his magic back with his own and prevented him from moving.

''It is not possible. No vampire has the power to do that. No vampire has the right to do that! It's in your laws!'' protested Felipe.

''Dad! Why are these people mad at you?'' asked the boy.

Nathaniel stood an inch from Felipe's face. He put a hand on his cheek and Felipe jumped at his touch.

"Do you remember what I promised you, Moody, hmm?" Nathaniel whispered in a chilling tone.

Felipe's eyes widened in fear.

''DAD!'' yelled the son before Lazarus took his dagger and swiftly shoved it into the boy's left eye.

Screams echoed in the room. His parents screamed in horror, trying to move towards him, but were unable to move. The smell of blood and fear filled the vampires' nostrils. Their eyes changed from blue to black.

Nathaniel violently opened Felipe's mouth with two fingers of his left hand and with his right, he grabbed his tongue, dug in his fingernails, and pulled so hard it tore from his throat. Blood spurted everywhere and the tongue was thrown towards the dogs who jumped on it.

The Moody matriarch fainted and Greisha let her crash on the floor. The son also crashed down, his hands over his eye from which the blood flowed profusely. Lazarus licked his dagger as Felipe fell to his knees, vomiting blood. His body went through uncontrollable spasms as the pain was unbearable.

Nathaniel bent down and grabbed Felipe by the collar before pulling him up. Seth moved to stand next to his father. These wizards deserved this torture and Felipe deserved the death his father was going to give him.

"My son, know that your venom is not just for giving pleasure. It's all in the intention.'' Said Nathaniel before sinking his teeth into Felipe's neck who let out another scream mixed with gurgling noises because of the blood in his throat.

A moment later, Felipe's heart stopped beating and when he fell to the ground, the two dogs jumped on him and started to devour his body.

Elena, who had watched the scene, advanced towards the mother, and gave her a slap which woke her up. She screamed and backed away in a panic until her back hit the wall. She saw her husband lying on the ground, then her son who was unconscious and screamed in horror.

''She was the one who kept the register of vampires across the world and who announced who to give this mark to.'' Lazarus explained with hatred.

"No...please...I didn't know...my son...has nothing to do with this...please let him live!" the mother begged.

"Let him live? So that he tells the Ministry everything and history repeats itself again?'' Asked Elena.

The Moody matriarch looked at Seth.

"He's…he's a wizard, right?" The woman said, pointing at him. "Let him erase his memory then." She added before gasping in revulsion as she looked back at Felipe.

Seth had never performed an obliviating spell but couldn't help thinking that Alastor didn't deserve to die for things his parents did. Without warning anyone, Elena grabbed the woman by the neck, her nails digging in the flesh. The queen groaned, then sank her teeth into her neck.

The woman screamed again, and Alastor regained consciousness. He panicked and began to tremble, his heart racing. He closed his remaining eye and placed his hands on his head.

"God, let this be a nightmare, please." Alastor said.

"I got my revenge, you can do whatever you want with him, Seth." Nathaniel said before walking out of the room, followed by his dogs.

Elena let the woman's dead body fall to the ground and went out in turn. Greisha sighed before leaving.

"And I who wanted to have fun with him… are you sure you can accomplish what his mother wanted? He shouldn't remember anything…'' said Lazarus putting away his dagger.

"There's still Daniel, Lazarus." Seth said.

"Dan...Daniel?" Alastor muttered uneasily. "Lana Longbottom has done nothing about this mark! And their son is still at Hogwarts! Oh… god damn it… mom…'' he added with broken voice.

Alastor walked over to his mother's body and took her hand in his. Seth gulped, unsure of himself. Lazarus sensed the prince's emotions and took his face in his hands.

"Nin còon, now is not the time to be... human." Lazarus hissed. "These wizards treated us like vermin and chained us for years! Cast this oblivion spell if it can make you feel better, but don't dwell on those feelings that cloud your vision."

Seth shook his head, and thought Lazarus was right. Lazarus let go of him, sensing his determination and went to pick up Moody's wands. Seth let his wand slide to his hand and pointed it at Alastor who was humming to his mother as he stroked her hair.

The pages of the oblivion spell book resurfaced in his memory. The one he would try would be to remake a memory instead of just erasing what had just happened. He imagined a scenario where masked dark mages attacked his family and Alastor managed to escape, but lost consciousness just before Apparating due to his injury.

"Obliviate." Seth snapped.

Alastor, sobbing, stared blankly before crashing onto his mother's body. Seth knew his spell had worked and added a hatred for dark mages to him, which wasn't difficult considering Alastor was already an auror in the making.

He removed the watch from Felipe's shredded body and placed it on Alastor's wrist. Not only would this serve as a homecoming, but also, he had implanted in his head that it was the only memory of his father since the body of his parents would never be found.

Seth went to tap the watch and whispered the portkey spell after removing him from his mother's body and Alastor was transported by the portkey. Lazarus licked his lips and twisted the wands between his fingers.

"I can keep them, can I?" Lazarus asked.

Seth looked at Lazarus who was holding the wands.

"Hm, I wouldn't play with them if I were you. Wands can be fatal in muggle hands, so I don't know what they could do to you, Lazarus. And if you keep them as souvenirs, don't put them somewhere that Alastor can one day find them.'' Seth said.

''Find them? No one will come to our island, let alone this… wizard.'' Lazarus said with a face of disgust before pulling himself together elegantly.

"I'm going to take these bodies to the Nile where the alligators will finish the job." Seth said before summoning sheets to cover the bodies.

''What? It's not for you to do this, my prince, and the king has already planned… how can you…?'' said Lazarus, outraged.

Lazarus grabbed Seth's arm and they walked out of the room.

"Lazarus..." began Seth.

''No. Know your place.'' Lazarus said pointing to the lower floor where servants were.

Seth remained silent and looked down. Lazarus placed his right hand on his cheek before kissing him tenderly. His heart raced due to receiving a kiss from the first person who had done it in his life. He responded by hugging Lazarus and pulling him closer to his body.

Suddenly his thoughts turned not to Abraxas, but to Tom and the Chamber of Secrets. Would he have feelings for him, despite what had happened? A rival without being one. Tom was capable of murder, torture and already knew Seth, his secrets and what he wanted.

"My place..." Seth said in a whisper after breaking the kiss.

"Hmm...I see your lips already belong to someone, my prince." Lazarus replied before cracking a smile. "I won't do it again then, but I will always remain your adviser."

Seth looked over the railing. Several vampires were feeding, and others were discussing what had just happened in a good mood. The king and queen looked up at their son, satisfaction in their eyes. Seth smiled, seeing his parents happy, since he realized that was what was important to him: seeing his family happy.

And he will do anything to keep it that way.

Seth had taken what Alastor had said at his word and confirmed with Lazarus: Daniel was the only Auror in his family and was almost always at the Ministry rather than at home. The story of Alastor had passed in the newspaper, and everyone was wondering who these black mages were he had spoken of.

But, no trace of magic had been detected in his home and Alastor's parents were never found.

Looking for a way to get revenge on Daniel without drawing attention was actually the use of a Muggle method, which Lazarus got wind of from Darthael.

Castor powder.

Considered a biological weapon, the toxin is extracted from castor bean, a plant native to tropical Africa where it is perennial and shrubby, but which is known in temperate regions where it is herbaceous and annual.

Ricin is soluble in water, in food, of which it does not modify the taste, hence the fears of contamination of drinking water networks. It can also be freeze-dried in powder or dispersed by aerosol.

By ingestion, it causes severe intestinal symptoms (colic, diarrhoea, vomiting), with dehydration followed by a state of shock and death. Ricin has toxicity to the liver and pancreas. Through the respiratory route, it develops an even greater toxicity by causing hemorrhagic pulmonary oedemas.

A tenth of a gram is enough to kill a 100 kilo man. There is no antidote.

Seth stood in a corner of the Leaky Cauldron with a hood over his head. He had used the Imperius on Tom, the owner, since he made Daniel's tea every morning. Sure enough, Daniel walked through the door, looking hurried.

'Hello Tom.'

'As usual, Dan?'

'Always.'

Daniel looked in his pocket and his gaze lingered for a moment towards the back of the room where Seth was, but he found what he was looking for, a sickle, and thanked Tom after taking the tea he gave him in exchange. Seth smiled and walked out of the pub before Apparating, not without releasing Tom from the imperius.

Daniel was found dead thirty hours later in one of the ministry toilets. It was unheard of, and all the departments threw the ball at each other, since no one had found anything abnormal, except that he had felt sick.

Seth had sent the page of the newspaper regarding the death of another auror to his father and Seth received a simple scroll that read: Hantacin, Thank you.

"What an easy death you gave him." Lazarus said with a sigh.

Seth put the parchment on his desk, or rather, his father's old desk, and crossed his legs.

''Easy? Throwing up your guts and defecating for hours must be a nice way to die." Seth said amusedly.

Lazarus chuckled and shook his head.

"What a loss then." Lazarus said thinking of the blood. "Don't potions cure all ailments?" he asked.

Seth grinned mischievously.

"That's the beauty of it. He must have taken an anti-emetic potion for his nausea and then felt better, but ricin is a poison and attacks the organs. Maybe he even thought of the bezoar, which is an anti-poison, but…too late!'' explained Seth.

"Well, that's one thing settled." Lazarus said before taking an envelope from his inside pocket and giving it to Seth. "Your ticket to the Quidditch match."

Seth uncrossed his legs and took the envelope from Lazarus before opening it. The note was gold and shone with a silver and red color. The teams were the Tutshill Tornadoes and the Caerphilly Catapults.

"I can't wait to see this...hundreds of thousands of wizards..." Seth said dreamily.

Lazarus looked at him for a moment and tilted his head.

"Sometimes I forget how young... and innocent you are." Lazarus muttered.

Seth exhaled loudly through his nose.

"Innocent." repeated Seth.

Lazarus moved around the desk to go near Seth who looked up at him.

"Yes, innocent and wonderfully beautiful to look at." Lazarus replied with one of those elegant smiles.

Seth stood up and put the ticket in his pants pocket.

"So, you want to come watch me while I laugh at seekers who can't see the snitch?" Seth chuckled.

''Oh no. This sport is utterly disrespectful.'' Lazarus said closing his eyes briefly.

Seth chuckled.

"Come on, I want a good meal, don't you?" Seth said.

''Hm, per good meal, we're not talking about the same thing, are we?'' asked Lazarus before making a slight bow as he let his prince pass.

"Dessert then." Seth chuckled.

August 1, 1942, Death Valley, California, Quidditch World Cup

The colors, the sensations, the smells, the magic… everywhere.

"Seth. So, tell me, where is the snitch?" Corban almost yelled excitedly in his ear to drown out the noise around.

Seth pointed to the ground on the far right of the stadium. Corban took his omniculars, those copper binoculars, equipped with all sorts of buttons and dials, allowing action to be reviewed, replayed and detailed frame by frame any moment of a Quidditch match, and tried to see where Seth was pointing.

"I don't know if you can see, but next to the bottom of the second tower...it's been twirling around in a circle for almost a minute." Seth replied.

Corban said nothing for a moment. Nott imitated him with his omniculars, having heard Seth next to him.

''I can't believe it! Seekers have been staying up there like dickheads for at least an hour, and you get asked where it is and you see it over… what, a hundred yards?!'" Nott replied.

"Hmph, watch out Nott, you're going to have the best Seeker in the universe next to you… better have Seth sign you a handkerchief in advance." sneered Orion a little further.

Seth rolled his eyes: he would never apply as a professional Quidditch player. The commentator's voice echoed through the air as a maneuver by one player unsettled another, causing him to fall several yards.

"Phew! That can't feel good.'' Nott said.

The match went on for another four hours, with the Tornadoes scoring 370-320 before the Catapults' seeker caught the snitch from under the other's nose, giving the final score at 470 to 370 for the Catapults.

Seth couldn't hear anything. The screams of hundreds of thousands of wizards and witches filled the stadium, and Seth was one of them, caught up in the emotions that came from everywhere. After the calm returned and Seth moved into Orion Black's gigantic, luxurious tent, the teenagers took their places in the living room while Abraxas handed them beers.

"Muggle beer?" asked Avery, who had joined them after the game.

"Yes, and if anyone tells my father about it, he will receive the worst curse I know! Guess the elves are incapable of producing anything but wine and butterbeer.'' Malfoy said with his smug air.

"They've got to be some use for that trash." Avery sneered, not without glancing at Seth.

Owen Avery was a true purist and still didn't accept Seth as a Slytherin, even after five years together.

"Hey, if you have a problem with Seth, you can leave, Avery.'' Orion said. "Just because Tom isn't here doesn't mean you can disrespect him."

"Respecting that guy? That damn Mudblood." Avery muttered, but Seth had heard him very well.

Abraxas' heart raced, suddenly afraid that Seth would react, but Seth drank from his bottle and acted as if he hadn't heard him.

"Go play chess, Avery." Malfoy said with a sigh.

"Yeah, right." Avery replied, pulling the game out of a cabinet with a wave of his wand.

Corban shook his head and went to sit across from Avery, ready to be his opponent. Orion and Nott joined them to observe them. Abraxas took a box from his pocket and held it out to Seth. It was nicely wrapped in silver embroidered fabric. Seth put his already empty beer bottle next to him and took the box curiously.

"I know it was your birthday yesterday. So, here's a present from the Malfoy family.'' Abraxas said with a smile.

Seth looked at the package and hesitated to open it. The gifts he received became more and more rare, since no one knew what to give him now, even his parents.

"Can I open it here?" Seth asked.

"Heh, as long as you don't share its contents, yes." Abraxas said with a mischievous smile.

Seth took him at his word and unwrapped the fabric, then opened the box. Its contents surprised him: there must have been about twenty candies of a blood red color, and he thought that's what it actually was: blood. He picked one up and held it up to his nose. Despite his acute sense of smell, which he thought he would have smelled from afar, he was still surprised by these candies, because they were indeed blood. He looked at Abraxas who was still smiling at him and raised his eyebrows, wondering if he was going to taste it.

Seth put one in his mouth and immediately recognized the taste of the blood of Abraxas, and of Septimus. It was slightly sweet, and he also tasted the honey and wine added to these… confectioneries. Decidedly, Abraxas really had a good idea, because he loved it.

''Ha. I dare to believe that your father didn't want to participate in this gift.'' Seth said.

"Indeed." Abraxas replied wearily. "But, do you like them?"

Seth took another in response.

"Definitely." Seth said before closing the box and putting it in his pocket.

"Hey…Vulken. Do you know poker?" Nott asked as he went to grab another beer and chill it with a wave of his wand.

"Do you want to lose what few Galleons you have on you, Ronan?" Asked Seth who could hear heartbeats and know who was bluffing or not, every time.

Ronan laughed as he fetched a deck of cards and sat down at another table, followed by Seth, Corban, and Abraxas.

They played, drank, and laughed all evening, all night, in which they fell asleep everywhere, having spent one of the most wonderful days of their lives, among friends.
