Arkham Asylum was the pinnacle of his life's work. The greatest and most terrible lives in Gotham all gathered together under one roof, to be studied under his own watch and control. With their unique abilities and skills, he had a fighting chance against the rest of the universe.

Seeing Arkham Asylum in this state was rattling. All of his research to preserve human bodies through cryostatis, gone. His research into the Super Steroid Venom, gone. And his influence over the Justice League was about to up in smoke.

"Not now Clark." Batman said, as he wheeled the Batwing over Arkham Asylum, staring down at the wreckage.

"Bruce, you need to stop." Clark said. "You've gone too far this time."

"This doesn't concern you, Clark." Batman snapped.

"I've been to their island." Superman said. "I've spoken to their people. If you continue antagonizing them, I WILL stop you."

"Do that and the Justice League will collapse." Batman snapped. "I don't have time for this."

He clicked off the communicator as the Batwing came to a stop. He disembarked the Batwing, gliding down onto the ruin of the Asylum like an angel, and surveyed the damage with a practiced eye.

The giant that had done this had vanished into thin air. Going by Starfire's report it had happened after she had done some damage to it, but he doubted her testimony was entirely reliable.

He had long ago learned that only his reports could be relied on.

In an ideal world… Batman would be the world's only superhero.

Raven and Historia had seen the Batwing swing over the Asylum. Historia, determined to confront Batman directly, had turned to ask Raven to take them up to where he had landed. Before she could acquiesce, however, two figures swooped down on them.

"Robin!" Raven said, surprised, as her Robin landed neatly in front of her.

"Raven!" He said. "What are you doing here?"

The second Robin landed next to Historia, and in one smooth fluid motion he reached to grab her. Historia gave a startled yell, grabbed him, and then threw him up and over her shoulder. He crashed to the ground at her feet, and lay still.

"Ugggggh…"

"You know these guys, Raven?" Historia asked, as she turned to face her. Raven tried to hide the surprise on her face.

"Yes." She said. "This is my friend, Robin."

"A pleasure to meet you." Historia said politely, as Jason groaned at her feet again.

"Aren't… you the one responsible for all of this?" Robin asked, tentatively.

"I am not." Historia said, shaking her head. "But I am here to negotiate with the Batman. Please take me to him."

Jason sat up, rubbing his head as he glared up at them.

"What are you doing, Dick?" He hissed. "We have our orders. Restrain her!"

"What do you think, Raven?" Robin asked.

"I trust her." Raven said quietly. "I've gotten to know her and I… think she's being genuine. She wants to put a stop to all this just as much as we do."

Historia smiled at him, and nodded, and took a step closer to him.

The man she had thrown spun his leg out, tripping her.

Historia let out a cry as she fell to the ground. Raven darted forward and grabbed hold of her, as the other Robin leapt to his feet, eyes blazing.

"She's coming with us." He declared.

"No!" Robin said, as he pushed past the girls to face his opposite. "That's not necessary!"

"Have you seen what she's done?" Jason demanded. "Out of my way!"

He tried to push past Robin, only to get punched in the face. He staggered backward, his head reeling.

"Go now." Robin told them. "He's here. If there's anything you can do to stop this…"

"Thank you, Robin." Historia said, sounding relieved. "I won't forget this."

"I will take her." Raven said. She wrapped her arms around Historia and disappeared.

Robin turned back to face Jason, who was grimacing with pain.

"You're going to regret this, Dick." He rasped. "Siding with criminals over your own family…"

"Family?" Robin repeated. "Don't be so familiar. You wouldn't even be wearing that costume if I had stayed in this city."

Jason laughed.

"If you had stayed, Batman would have known a long time ago that I would be a better successor, not you."

Robin's eyes narrowed. 'What do you mean?"

"What do you think all this was about, Dick?" Jason asked. "Bringing you back… inviting your idiot friends… allowing that alien to run about unsupervised. Gotham needs a new Batman, and Bruce wasn't sure whether it should be me, or it should be you. And after what you just did… it ain't going to be you."

"I'm not going to attack someone who wants to negotiate peacefully." Robin said coldly.

"With that kind of attitude, you'd fall for every sob story that came your way." Jason told him. "My wife is sick, I'm committing crimes to cure her… I'm doing this for the environment… I'm doing this because I can't eat… Pah!"

He spat.

"Gotham needs a harsh hand to deal with crime." He said. "Look at all the people the Eldians have killed, and you just let their queen go?"

"I let her go with Raven." Robin said. "And I trust her."

"That little slut would have locked herself in this Asylum if we had let her." Jason said. "She-"

What she was Robin never found it, because he had grabbed hold of his steel rod and brought it down across Jason's face. With a sickening CRACK, Jason again hit the floor.

"Don't you ever." Robin said coldly. "Speak about her like that."

Jason rubbed his face as he glared up at Robin.

"Last Chance, Dick." He said. "If you don't stop now-"

Robin brought the rod back down on his face. Jason rolled, and then reached out a hand at Robin's leg.

A bright, Red X burst from his hand and wrapped around Robin. He let out a cry as he fell to the ground and, struggling, he glared up at Jason.

"You… you're Red X!"

"Yeah." Jason said. "I've been watching you for a long time, Dick. I know all of your moves. I'm willing to do things that you never would."

Robin struggled vainly as Jason put a boot in his face. Blood spurted out from Robin's nose.

"I don't think Bruce will ask too many questions when I tell him you died fighting the Eldians." Jason said. "He has a bit of a soft spot for you, you know."

Jason reached down and lifted Robin up. He struggled vainly against his bindings as Jason led him a large hole in the building. The hole, probably created during the fight, exposed the room to the elements, and the large cliff that it was built on.

"See ya, Dick." Jason said, as Robin fell. He let out a scream as he plummeted to the rocks below.

Batman was beginning to conclude his initial investigations when Historia approached him. He frowned.

"It's you." He said. "What do you want?"

"I'm here." She said, her voice loud and clear from across the roof. "To negotiate terms. You will cease your attempts at apprehending my husband and incarcerating him in this facility, and we will stop our attack."

"You are in no position to make demands." Batman said, his voice cold. "You have just made an enemy of the entire world."

Historia smiled bitterly. "That is not much of a threat to us, I fear."

"The Justice League will strip you all of whatever power you think you possess." Batman said. "After tonight, your husband cannot be allowed to run free."

"And why not?" Historia demanded. "Because you are frightened of him?"

"Because of all that he has done." Batman said. "Killing those that the law has decided must be allowed to live."

"And who makes those laws?" Historia demanded. "You?"

"I have my part to play." Batman growled. "And I will play it to the very end."

The two stared at each other.

"Please…" Historia said. "If you don't stop now, everyone in this world will die."

Batman leapt forward. Historia screamed as a pure black barrier of energy appeared before them. Batman stopped and stared at Raven, who was standing hidden just behind her.

"You will." Raven said coldly. "Put an end to this now."

The two stared at each other.

"You will regret this, Raven." Batman said. "I will destroy you."

"Please." Historia said. "You are negotiating with me, not her. I-"

"Stand down, Historia."

Historia jumped. Eren Jaeger and Mikasa Ackermann leapt up over the side of the building and stood facing them.

The three parties stared at each other.

"Jaeger." Batman said. "You're a monster."

Mikasa stepped forward, a hand on her sword, but Eren merely glowered.

"Many have called me worse." He said.

Historia took a step forward. "Eren, I have this under control, please-"

"We can't let this stand, Historia." Eren said, his voice sharp. "Consider who we're dealing with. This is a man who controls all of Gotham to tyrannize his enemies. He must be stopped."

"We don't need to involve ourselves with their problems!" Historia told him. "We're only making ourselves new enemies!"

"They were already our enemies!" Eren snapped. Historia gasped and took a step back.

"We weren't targeted because of anything we did, or stood for. We were targeted because we were a group outside of Batman's control."

"Enough." Batman rumbled, as he turned to face him. "I'm bringing you in."

"Into Arkham?" Eren repeated. "That may prove difficult." He gestured around the ruins of the Asylum with his hand.

Batman lunged forward. Mikasa leapt in front of Eren and swung her blades. They clashed against batman's armor with a twang. Both parties glared at each other.

"You're too dangerous to be allowed to go free." Batman said.

"You would threaten my freedom?" Eren asked. "You truly are my enemy."

He stepped forward, ignoring the struggle to his side, and reached Historia.

"We're going home." He said, as he grabbed her hand. Historia gave Raven an apologetic look as she was pulled to the edge of the building.

Eren cast a look back at Raven. "Thanks for looking after her." He said.

"Anytime."

They leapt off the edge. Eren's ODM gear caught into the side of the Asylum, and the two of them swung away. Mikasa pulled away from Batman and followed suit.

Batman stood in silence for a moment, before turning to glare at Raven.

"Don't think I'm letting you get away with this."

"Do you really imagine that I would really give you the chance?" Raven asked, coldly, as the dark shadows began to envelop her. She was gone before Batman could even make a move.

Left completely alone on the rooftop, all Batman could think of was how he needed more power, more control, more determination to destroy his enemies, the Eldian people.

Dick Grayson never hit the rocks below. A blonde figure swung by and grabbed hold of him mid-fall.

"I got you!" The young man cried, as he twirled around and shot back to the small boat hidden among the rocks. The members of the Survey Corps stood around apprehensively as Armin Arlert lay Dick on the deck of the ship.

"Who is this? An inmate?"

"I'm not sure." Armin said. "Can you identify yourself?"

"Robin." The boy said, gruffly. "Thank you." He said, as an afterthought.

"Batman's man?" Armin asked, sharply.

"Yes." Robin said. "Well… not so much anymore. I'm trying to do my own thing now…"

Armin stared at him. The wheels in his head were turning.

"We're taking him back with us." He decided. "Where's Eren?"

"Here."

Eren ladned on the deck of the boat with Historia in tow. Mikasa not far behind.

"Ah." Eren said, his eyes falling on the still restrained Robin. "It's you."

Without bothering to explain himself, the boat took off into the sea.

The Attack on Arkham had been a rousing success.
