The Purpose, Rewritten, Chapter 20 Justice

December 22, 1944, Paris

Albus made his way through the alleyways of Paris. Carts modified to run on coal passed in front of him, as well as a few people on bicycles, despite the snow. Small markets with a few breads and few vegetables had a long queue. The war had created monster famine in several places and Albus pursed his lips, knowing full well that everything could be otherwise, with a little magic.

He arrived in Montmorency Street and felt magical barriers crossing him. Since when had his friend taken such precautions? He looked at the number 51 of the house nearby and went to give it three knocks. Flamel's small steps were hear before the door opened. With a warm smile, he let him in.

Albus took off his hat and went to sit at the kitchen table. Flamel served him a cup of tea and he knew that his friend had gone to get some especially for him, because Flamel hadn't eaten for hundreds of years, but could drink potions, not to mention his famous secret recipe with his philosopher's stone.

"Albus, nice to see you. You weren't very explicit in your letter, but I think you had a lot of questions for me?'' said Flamel taking a seat in front of him.

''Yes. I…, I saw Grindelwald the day before yesterday in court in Africa.'' Said Albus observing his friend's reaction. "He was a vampire, Nicholas! It was only me and you who knew how to get him out of his prison!"

Nicholas looked sad and looked down for a moment.

"Did you come for accusations, Albus?" Asked Flamel.

''Acc… accusations?!'' said Albus, his voice hoarse slightly. "After all he has done! The horrors and the…'' Albus stood up and rubbed his eyes. "I just want to understand."

Nicholas remained silent. He had made this choice because he loved Seth like a son. Since Seth had needed wizard blood, he hadn't hesitated to offer himself, but the king hadn't wanted to. When Seth's prisoner had been killed, the solution of taking another wizard prisoner already occurred to him, while giving Seth some...experience with a dark wizard. Nicholas saw Albus' dismay and he owed him an explanation.

"Seth is a vampire." Nicholas said.

Albus looked at him, surprised. He slowly sat back down.

"I…I didn't believe he really was one…yet he eats like everyone else, and I never felt any danger to any student." Said Albus.

Nicholas smiled.

''Of course not. Seth would never hurt a student." Nicholas said before clearing his throat. "Seth was born in 1915 to vampire parents, Nathaniel, and Elena. He was already 22 when you saw him for the first time.''

Albus found it hard to believe. Nicholas continued to talk about him.

"He was born with a beating heart. He remained baby-sized for more than two years. Everything was unfolding at an incredible slowness. We didn't notice, me and Perenelle or any vampire on the island… time doesn't matter.'' Nicholas said with a light laugh. "I was then able to see a child grow up before my eyes, as I would have always wanted, twice as long. His parents were distant and often absent, but they did not fail to instill in him the values of vampires, how to behave... how to contain himself... he wanted everything, all the time, to read, write, laugh. He hardly slept and he was assailed by nightmares, dreams… he didn't want to stay locked up on the island and he often found himself at the marina, hidden between two fret containers. And then, one day, he received his letter from Hogwarts. His magic was complicated and mysterious, just like his birth. He couldn't do magic without first drinking blood, and that's where Grindelwald came into his life, shortly after we put him in his prison."

''Grindelwald was Seth's blood source?'' Albus asked.

''Yes exactly. There was this war that we waged against the Zeliths, and then this problem with the Aurors and the Ministry who wanted to chain the vampires with the cruellest enchantment when they had just helped entire populations of Muggles and wizards to get rid of their own race… somehow.'' continued Flamel.

"Seth has managed to make allies among powerful wizarding families, including the Malfoys. I've been able to observe certain behaviors and hear rumours… What exactly is he looking for?'' asked Albus.

Nicholas closed his eyes for a moment, resting his chin on his hands.

"Are you really asking the question, Albus? You really wonder what a wizard vampire could desire above all else?'' asked Nicholas.

"You're telling me that because he wants the same thing I...once...wanted, didn't you?" Albus said, worried.

''Not exactly. Seth desires more than anything that vampires be recognized as equal to wizards, just like goblins, and this is an opinion that I have always shared. "Assured the alchemist.

"What about Muggles?" Albus asked looking at his old friend.

They were interrupted by an owl tapping the kitchen window with its beak. Nicholas got up and went to open the window for her, but it was not one, but three owls that came in and dropped letters. Two for Nicholas, and one for Albus. The owls did not wait for an answer and flew out the window as quickly as they had come.

"I recognize Seth's handwriting on one of your letters." Albus mentioned.

Nicholas didn't answer and opened Seth's letter while Albus opened his.

"No…not again…" Nicholas muttered, putting his hand over his mouth.

He finished the letter and opened the other, which was from Nathaniel.

"Vampires will have to go to court again." Said Albus. "It looks like Seth got in the way of Director Wood."

"I…, the king mentions that the ministry doesn't give them a choice regarding goblin artifacts, and Seth mentions that Wood went to their island to get them to sign a ledger which was actually another way to control them via enchantments embedded in that parchment.'' said Nicholas who didn't mention that Seth had written that Lazarus had stopped him from committing murders. The alchemist sat down and rubbed his face. "I'm too old for that...I don't want to anymore...but he...he needs me, but I don't see how I can help him, I don't have a voice in the ministry."

"You're going to have to tell me more than not enough, my friend." Dumbledore said.

OoOoO

Ministry of Magic Courts of Justice, December 24, 1944, London

Seth really didn't like the Ministry Hall of Justice. It was round and as all the jury members surrounded them in the stands, the defendants were in the middle, and he felt very vulnerable. His father was next to him and Leadzurm on the other side. He knew that Gellert was once again confined to the Vulken mansion in Egypt for an indefinite period.

In the stands was Director Wood, who was glaring at them. Sofia, Emmanuel, and Urquart accompanied him and all the members of the Wizengamot were present, including Dumbledore. He was disappointed with Flamel's absence, but he had received an owl from him and in his letter, he had explained that he had told Dumbledore everything.

Everything?

Seth was looking at Albus and he suddenly felt naked before his gaze. What had Nicholas said to Albus, exactly? What did he mean by everything?

The Minister knocked his gavel and the people fell silent. He explained why the vampires and goblins were here again.

"Seth Vulken. You destroyed a Ministry scroll that was used to record the names of vampires and prevent Director Wood from performing a Ministry task. You'll need to give wizards access so they can do their job, as well as inspect your island since according to reports, an entire muggle village is there. Are you going to cooperate?'' asked the minister.

"No." Seth replied.

"And why this refusal? You know very well that this does not bode well for relations with the Ministry, Mr. Vulken. It was mentioned to me that it was your desire to come and work here at the end of your studies.'' Said Minister Spencer-Moon.

The minister's tone sounded sympathetic, but Seth had a hard time seeing if he actually cared about him and just knew about what had happened on the island, or the presence of the enchantments on the parchment.

''Mr. Minister. I have nothing against the ministry, and I would never have stopped Director Wood from doing his job. However, I have to ask you if you knew what was on the scroll?'' asked Seth.

The minister frowned and looked at his manager. Seth then saw a sincere reaction and concluded that the minister himself was unaware.

"Don't pay attention to what he says. It was just a scroll! Not to mention that he chased us off his island without us even being able to observe anything!" Wood spat.

"Bereg Radag." His father muttered beside him.

"What do you mean, Mr. Vulken?" the minister asked Seth.

Seth hesitated to reveal what he could do but felt he didn't really have a choice. Under the inquisitive eye of his father, he sighed.

"I have... abilities that allow me to sense magic in objects or sense auras in people." Seth said.

Murmurs echoed in the stands.

"Are you able to prove these sayings?" Asked a man next to the minister. Before Seth's incredulous gaze, he introduced himself. "I am Boris Bones, Manager of Magical Regulation and Inspector within the Ministry."

''Mr. Bones. Your wand is in your inside right pocket. Mr. Minister, your wand is attached under your pants to your belt. You also have keys…in your left pocket.'' Seth said as he looked at the other wizards. ''Mr. Greengrass, you have a pendant under your shirt, Mr. Malfoy also has a pendant that emanates magic, and each of the Patriarchs of the families present here all have a distinctive ring, some on their right hand, some on their left. Even Wood has his on his right thumb…"

"But...it's amazing." Bones muttered.

Seth heard Wood's heart race and he would take great delight in seeing him fall.

"So… what did you see in that parchment?" Spencer asked.

"Enchantments to control anyone who puts their signature on it." Seth said and several whispers echoed through the room again. ''Mr. Wood absolutely wanted each of the vampires to sign this scroll, whereas writing the names and putting a check mark on it would have been enough, even if it was a normal scroll. I also wanted to sign as a prince of my nation, but he refused. I couldn't stand the Ministry of Magic trying to control us again, and in anger… I burned that scroll. Mrs. Moss, Mr. Urquart and Mr. Greengrass are all witnesses to what happened and what was said."

The minister had to knock his gavel three times to silence the room. He spoke with Bones for a few seconds. Wood was starting to panic.

"Know that I didn't know anything about it. That you had already proven that you had no need to be controlled like this.'' Said the minister.

Wood stood up and pointed at Seth with a shaky finger.

"Muggles… muggles are on their island and know of our existence! They violate the International Magical Secrecy Law! Who knows if these Muggles aren't held in slavery? Taverns full of vampires indulge in practices with Muggles, drinking their blood!" Wood spluttered.

Lies.

Is it not?

Seth looked at his father but couldn't tell what he was thinking.

"Filled with vampires? But are you crazy or what?'' boomed the voice of the Vampire King. ''Mr. The minister, this wizard has visibly exceeded the limits. Vincent and Brian will be happy to redo the vampire registry without anyone's intervention. I have complete faith in my son when it comes to the island and muggles, as you already know, have been there for hundreds of years and have never broken your law!'' Nathaniel continued.

"I'm offering to do this registry with Vincent and Brian." Sofia suggested. "Wood lied to me, lied to all of us, and he also damaged the relationship we have with vampires."

Spencer looked at Wood and narrowed her eyes.

"You are impeached, Wood. So, take a week off at the same time." The minister said and he banged his gavel.

''NO! These vampires are going to get the better of us! Seth is a wizard vampire! He committed the murders of Daniel and Felipe!'' Wood shouted.

''ENOUGH! Let's bring Wood home under restriction!" Thundered Spencer. "For a whole month!" the Minister finally decided, and Wood was brought out by two wizards.

Wood shouted more profanity as the doors closed behind him. Seth exchanged a look with his father, wondering how Wood could have known what he had done. This had explained his behavior and his relentlessness in wanting to control the vampires again, which did not reassure him.

"The African minister asked me to review what happened four days ago. Have you made a decision, Mr. Vulken and Mr. Leadzurm?'' asked the minister.

Nathaniel looked at Leadzurm, who gritted his teeth before answering.

''Yes. We… reluctantly accept that the artifacts will not be sold to us, but placed in Gringotts and we want a record of who will buy them." Leadzurm said.

You could see the disgust on his face as if he ripped out his own heart. Having been around goblins for years, Seth knew there was nothing worse than the decision he had just made. Goblins were magically bound to the artifacts they produced, but wizards didn't care.

The Minister spoke again with Bones and another witch before speaking to Leadzurm.

"We accept." The minister said and knocked his gavel again. "Last case: what did you do with Gellert Grindelwald?"

Nathaniel moved his tongue and exchanged a few thoughts with his queen before answering.

"Four years locked up in the Vulken mansion. A year for every death he caused.'' Nathaniel said.

''Sixteen.'' replied the minister without flinching.

"Excuse me?" Nathaniel said.

"He's a vampire, right? Time doesn't matter anymore, does it?'' said the minister more harshly. Nathaniel remained silent. ''You released him from a prison where he was already for his crimes committed, and now that he must again suffer the consequences, we accept that you decide, and although I approve of the punishment, Grindelwald does not deserve any better than sixteen years locked away! We'll review his situation in sixteen years.'' Said the minister before knocking his hammer without giving the vampire king a choice, nor asking the advice of the council. "The session is over. Happy festivities to all.''

Seth thought the council had already consulted before bringing them into the room. The wizards stood up, but some stayed and chatted amongst themselves. Lord Malfoy pushed his way through and walked over to Seth.

"Seth! I invite you to the mansion tonight if you wish. Abraxas longed to see you.'' Septimus said.

Seth would celebrate Christmas the next day with his family and Nathaniel put a hand on his shoulder before leaving with Leadzurm.

"Of course, though, I have a guest at our house…" Seth said.

Albus approached them, probably wanting to speak with Seth. Septimus pursed his lips.

"Bring him along, you won't be the only ones tonight, Mr. Vulken." Septimus said before curtsying and walking out.

"Professor Dumbledore." Seth greeted. "I imagine you spoke to the minister and other council members before the session started."

Dumbledore looked around the room before returning his gaze to him.

"Not just them. I can't help but be… apprehensive about you and your intentions, having myself…'' began Albus.

Seth bit his tongue…hard. He longed to retort at the man, now smaller than him, in front of him. He swallowed the blood that had spilled into his mouth before speaking.

"Thank you for what you've done for us, Mr. Dumbledore." Seth replied and not giving Dumbledore time to say anything else and turned on his heels before walking out.

OoOoO

Malfoy Manor

The guests began to dance as the evening was just beginning. Seth watched Abraxas and his fiancé, Isobel Avery, waltzing elegantly. Corban was dancing with Monica and Seth smirked, clearly seeing that Corban was uncomfortable. If she had tried to make him jealous, it wouldn't work at all.

"Come dance with me, young Vulken." Septimus said extending a hand to Seth. Seth stood up, taking his hand. ''You know how to dance, I presume?'' added Septimus leading him towards the middle of the room among the other dancers.

''Of course. You can't think a vampire like Lazarus Vulken wouldn't be offended that his prince couldn't dance.'' Seth replied.

Septimus laughed.

''Ha! That vampire you suggested I meet. Never would I have believed someone I could be so much like...and what intellectual diversity!'' Septimus said as he grabbed Seth by the waist and began to lead the steps.

"You are welcome, in turn, to come to the castle tomorrow, despite the presence of our muggle servants. I acquired two elves as well, as you know. You could chat with Lazarus as you please.'' Seth said while keeping up the pace.

"We have other parties that last several days, but Armand could very well stay at the mansion while I save myself from the festivity tomorrow." Said Septimus.

Seth spun around, coming to the end of Septimus's hand, and coming back to him in the same way.

"Tell me... Dumbledore talked about what happened on my island before this morning's session?" Seth asked.

''Briefly. He mostly talked about vampire laws and reminded everyone what the Ministry had done with the orb and that something like this shouldn't happen again. When you mentioned the control enchantment, it all came to light, and we knew you would come out triumphant and Wood could only fall. However, I am very curious…'' Septimus said.

Septimus grabbed him more vigorously by the waist and spun him around before dropping him into his arms as he bent down.

"Yes?" Said Seth, a smile on his face.

Septimus pulled him up and followed the music with well-placed footsteps.

"Felipe and Daniel. Did Gregor aim right?'' asked Septimus curiously.

The music ended and their faces were only an inch apart. Seth slid a finger along Septimus' cheek.

"Right." Seth hissed in Parseltongue.

Lord Malfoy smiled knowingly and walked over to the refreshment table. Monica appeared next to him and asked him to dance. Seth glanced over to the divans where Lord Greengrass was, and Lord Greengrass was eyeing him suspiciously and a twitch had appeared on his upper lip. Seth suspected that he had to think of a way to cure Monica of her curse, but he hadn't been able to reach François, the French vampire, whom Lazarus had told him about.

"Of course, Monica." Seth replied.

They danced for several minutes before Monica spoke to him.

"We miss you, Seth. Everyone was surprised that you weren't at Hogwarts. The teachers are still talking about you and several students were wondering what happened to you, until Callum Yaxley started talking nonsense about you and his brother. The headmaster had to intervene…'' Monica started, but Seth put a finger to her lips.

"Leave it… Monica. I'm not interested in what teenagers may think.'' whispered Seth leaning into her ear.

''Oh.''

The music followed a crescendo and Seth twirled her around, being the leader this time. Monica finally smiled, making up her mind to forget about Hogwarts and concentrate on dancing. Seth made graceful moves while being provocative and daring. When the music ended, he placed a kiss on her neck, not without smelling her flower scent.

Abraxas came over from the refreshments table and held out a glass to Seth.

"You should stop for a bit and quench your thirst, huh?" Abraxas said with a wink.

Seth smelled blood in the cup, mixed with wine. He raised his eyebrows before taking the cup and waved his right hand over the cup, wanting to detect possible substances that shouldn't be there, but he saw nothing. He walked to the windows with Abraxas while Monica walked back to her family.

He tasted the liquid and as he had smelled it, it was indeed wine mixed with the blood of Abraxas.

"Do you like it?" asked Abraxas.

''Of course, yes. Why do you always do such nonsense?" Seth chuckled.

"Because I like to surprise you and make you happy, without forgetting to thank you for coming here. You couldn't have known how much… I missed you.'' Abraxas replied before clearing his throat. "My work takes up all my time, but the only times I am alone…"

Abraxas didn't need to finish his sentence. He felt the same way and thought only of taking him to his room and jumping on him. Drinking the wine with his blood didn't help his thoughts at all.

''Your work? What exactly is it? I didn't think the Malfoys really needed to work." Seth said.

"Oh…I say work, but the Malfoy family are Ministry advisers and part of the Wizengamot besides the administration of the Board of Education. It's not so much work per se, but we're involved everywhere and since I'm the heir… well, you must have your own idea on that.'' Abraxas explained.

Lately Seth had had to act within his nation, and he could perhaps understand what Abraxas meant and he began to think that his father was not telling him more than he had to, when he maybe should. He was extremely surprised at the day's verdicts and did not know what Gellert had done. His sixteen-year imprisonment at Vulken Manor had left him speechless. Gellert certainly wasn't going to sit idle for so long... was he?

"I think so." Seth said.

Abraxas looked away, observing his fiancée with Monica.

"So, are you going to launch yourself at her, or at Corban? I really can't pin you down on this. You might as well be with me, hm?'' Abraxas said stepping closer.

Seth detected jealousy in Abraxas' voice again. He finished his cup and put it on the table behind Abraxas while moving closer. He grabbed his beautiful blonde hair adorned with a butterfly and breathed into his neck.

"I'd take all three of you if I could." Seth hissed in Parseltongue and Abraxas shuddered. "But now is not the time." He continued normally.

"Shit." Abraxas said and Seth let go of him as Isobel came towards them.

"Vulken. Only you would dare to touch my future husband's hair without that person receiving the cruciatus from him.'' Isobel said. "What would I give for him to look at me the same way he looks at you."

''Women! Know your place.'' Abraxas threatened as he grabbed Isobel's wrist.

Seth felt a spark of magic pass from Abraxas's hand to Isobel's wrist and frowned. He was definitely unaware of so-called pureblood customs. Isobel pulled her arm back and lifted her chin before turning on her heels and leaving. Seth didn't comment and continued to chat with Abraxas, not seeing that Isobel had taken Seth's empty wine cup.

The rest of the evening was pleasant, and Seth noticed that Corban had fallen asleep on one of the couches. He chuckled and shook his head: classic Corban reaction. No wonder his Animagus form was a Kneazle. He followed Abraxas in an adjoining room where the walls were filled with books, and artifacts adorned shelves.

Explicit scene (Brief, but needed to story)

The door closed behind him, followed by an intimacy spell cast by Abraxas, and Abraxas attacked his lips, his arms wrapping around him and hugging him.

"It can't go on like this, Seth." Abraxas breathed between kisses. "Months… months without having you. I can't do without you anymore." He continued, backing Seth up to a wall where books fell as his back touched that wall.

Abraxas took off his shirt and sprinkled his chest with burning kisses. Seth didn't know what to think. He, too, had very often thought of Abraxas, but could easily take pleasure elsewhere. This was not the case for Abraxas. Seth moaned as Abraxas was on his knees before him, his pants already down and his cock in his mouth.

"Abraxas..." Seth whispered.

Warmth spread through his stomach and excitement skyrocketed. He grabbed his hair and watched the blonde suck him passionately. It continued for several minutes until Seth groaned and came into Malfoy's mouth. The latter absorbed everything and then got up, pulling up Seth's pants and kissing him again.

"Take me, take my blood, I beg you." moaned Abraxas.

Seth didn't need to be asked any longer. Hearing pleas drove him crazy, awakening his vampire side almost instantly. His eyes turned black, and his left hand reached into the blonde hair and he tugged on it, abraxas neck laid bare in front of him. His teeth lengthened and he dug them into the inviting skin. His venom poured out in a powerful jet and Abraxas quivered and squirmed beneath it, moaning, and groaning in pleasure.

"Yes...yes!" Abraxas breathed.

Seth saw only desire and envy in Abraxas' thoughts. The Malfoy heir was completely obsessed with him, and he didn't know whether to be worried or let things go. But he detected something unusual in Abraxas' blood and a sudden odor that could only mean one thing: Abraxas had ingested Amortentia, the love potion that takes away sanity.

Abraxas had an orgasm as well and Seth ran his tongue over the wound and then placed his hands on Abraxas' shoulders, holding him at a distance. He shook his head as other thoughts began to invade him. Abraxas' voice was whispering in his head, and he felt his gaze blur. Did the potions ingested by others affect him when he drank their blood?

"Abraxas." Seth said more seriously.

"What?" Abraxas said putting his hands on Seth's face. Abraxas' eyes were dilated, and a cloud seemed to hover in his gaze. ''What's the matter?''

What was the antidote to Amortentia again?

Abraxas…

Seth...

We are united.

I'm yours.

Mine.

Seth shook his head.

"Dobby." Mentioned Seth hastily, wondering if the house-elf would show up at his call.

Young Dobby appeared beside them and leaned so low that his nose touched the ground.

"Did you ask me for me, sir?" Dobby's voice squeaked.

"Why did you ask for that retarded elf, Seth?" Abraxas asked, taking a few steps back.

Seth crouched down level with the elf, and Abraxas gasped in horror and the elf moaned in fear as he took a step back.

"Don't be afraid, Dobby. Could you get…'' began Seth before shaking his head a second time. "...an antidote potion, if the Malfoys have any." Seth asked.

Abraxas took Seth by the arm and pulled him up.

"Are you okay!? Lower yourself to a slave!'' Abraxas said and Dobby vanished. "Wait…what did you just ask him?"

"An…an antidote, Abraxas…come here." Seth said suddenly having a strong urge to kiss him again.

Seth couldn't think of anything else. Abraxas filled his thoughts. His lips, his skin, his smell, his taste… time no longer mattered.

"Sir..." Dobby squealed.

The two lovers ignored the house-elf.

"Sir… oh… hm." Dobby said before gathering his courage and snapping his fingers, causing Seth and Abraxas to separate.

Dobby levitated the antidote potion and threw it at Seth who caught it in the mouth and the liquid poured down his throat before he could react. He began to cough, and Abraxas took out his wand and pointed it at Dobby. Seth shook his head, his mind clearing, and seeing Abraxas, he rushed between him and the elf.

"Dobby! Did you bring another one?" Seth asked.

"How dare you, filthy elf! Attacking a wizard! You…''

Seth took the potion Dobby handed him and showed it to Abraxas.

"Abraxas!" said Seth.

Abraxas' glassy gaze fixed on Seth and a goofy smile appeared on his face.

"Seth… do you want me to kill this elf?''

''No. Drink this, you'll thank me.'' Seth said with a wink.

''What?''

Abraxas looked at the potion and Seth's face. He took the potion from his hands and emptied the contents. Abraxas paused and blinked.

"Damn." Abraxas sighed. "That fucking woman...I know she did this!"

"How could she have taken…part of my body for that potion to have that effect on me?" Seth asked.

Abraxas closed his eyes and sighed again.

"Your glass of wine… she definitely took one of your glasses to put her potion in and give it to me. All because she's jealous of you! She wanted you to be disgusted with me, probably. Ugh…" Abraxas put a hand to his face and sat down in a chair.

Seth looked down and picked up his shirt before noticing Dobby wriggling his hands.

"Thank you, Dobby." Seth said, but Dobby was looking at Abraxas nervously.

"You let this happen Dobby, you know what to do, don't you?" Abraxas said in a nasty tone.

''Yes Master. Dobby will punish himself immediately, sorry, master." Dobby squealed before vanishing.

''What? Punish himself? But why are you acting like this with him? If it wasn't for him, we'd still be under the effect of the potion until morning, and I HATE being controlled! I can't believe that… oh no.'' Seth said realizing that any blood he ingested from a person could suddenly be dangerous, or potentially dangerous.

''What? He's just a slave, Seth, and he should have stepped in a long time ago!'' Abraxas said.

Seth had had enough and wanted to go home.

"I will wake up Corban. Thanks for the evening, Abraxas, it was still enjoyable and… Merry Christmas.'' Seth said as he put on his shirt and walked out of the room.
