*Let me know what you think! *
Alex gently wakes up Olivia. Olivia's eyes blinked open confused. Alex sent her a soft smile.
"Hey" Alex whispers
"Hey, how was your dinner?" Olivia asks, sitting up.
"It was nice, I'm glad we got to catch up" Alex said.
"Good, good" Olivia says, yawning.
"Have you had anything?" Alex questioned.
"No, but honestly I'm too tired to eat. Do you care if we just go to bed?" Olivia asked, standing up.
"Yea,that sounds good. Should we wake him?" Alex asked, looking down at Calvin who was sound asleep on the other end of the couch.
" No, he's fine here" Olivia says, fixing his blanket.
"Okay " Alex says, kissing his head and following Olivia into the bedroom.
They each changed and layed cuddled until falling asleep.
Olivia officially moved all of her stuff into Alex's apartment that week. It was nice to finally say she was coming home instead of coming back to Alex's. All the stuff they weren't using they put in a storage facility until they decided on what they wanted to do with it. Olivia still had another month on her lease so she couldn't give up her apartment officially until June.
Alex was busy in court all week so Olivia picked Calvin up from his baseball practices. Olivia saw him standing out front with Jake and honked her horn. Calvin waved to her and started walking her way. He got into the car and put his seatbelt on.
"How was practice?" Olivia asked, starting to drive.
"It was good, we finally got our positions" Calvin tells her excitedly.
"And? Don't keep me waiting" Olivia says enthusiastically.
"I'm the starting pitcher," Calvin tells her excitedly.
"That's great bud! I'm so happy for you" Olivia tells him looking over at him for a second smiling and then looking back at the road.
"Thanks!" Calvin says grinning at her.
They get back to the apartment and Calvin takes his baseball bag to his room. He stays in there doing some homework while Olivia starts on dinner. On practice nights she just makes something simple, so she frys up chicken tenders and makes rice and broccoli.
When they finish dinner Calvin goes to take a shower. Olivia cleans up the dishes and puts the food away. She saves Alex a plate in the fridge to heat up.
Calvin comes out to the living room when he's done with his shower and Olivia takes her turn to shower. When Olivia gets out of the shower she gets dressed and heads back out to the living room. She sees Calvin at the table finishing up his math homework. Olivia sits on the couch and turns on the TV to watch a sitcom. When Calvin is done with his homework he puts his folder back in his book bag and sits on the couch and watches TV with her.
It takes until a commercial break for Alex to walk in.
"Hey guys" Alex says, setting her stuff down.
"Hi babe, there's dinner in the fridge for you." Olivia says
"Hey" Calvin tells her.
"Oh, thank you, I'm Starving" Alex says, making her way to the kitchen and grabbing her plate to put it in the microwave.
Alex comes to sit next to Olivia on the couch and starts eating.
When Alex is done she rinses her plate off and puts it in the dishwasher.
Alex goes to her room and changes out of her court clothes and into pajamas.
"Hey Alex" Calvin says when she gets back into the room.
"Yes hun" Alex says, sitting down and curling up against Olivia.
"I'm the starting pitcher!" Calvin says happily to her, smiling.
"Oh, gosh that's great Calvin ! I'm so happy for you!" Alex tells him leaning over to him pulling him into a hug smiling at him.
"Thanks!" Calvin whispers to her, hugging her back.
The show ends and Calvin tells them goodnight before heading to bed.
Olivia pulls Alex's feet into her lap and starts massaging them.
Alex groans.
"This feels great" Alex says, wiggling her feet.
"Good, you seem like you've had a hard week" Olivia says, continuing to rub her feet.
"Yea, we have closing arguments tomorrow." Alex tells her.
"That's good, at least you'll have the weekend to recoup. Calvin will be at his grandparents and it's my weekend to work" Olivia tells her.
"Since I've been in court I've been so far behind on my paperwork, I'll probably just enjoy a bath and signing off on some paperwork" Alex sighs out.
"Sounds so fun" Olivia says jokingly.
"Of course" Alex says sarcastically
They lay there for a few moments and then get up to head to bed.
It was one time they were both off early enough to take Calvin to the airport. Once they saw him off Olivia took Alex out to dinner. It was a nice little bistro they have been wanting to try.
"We haven't been somewhere this nice in a while" Alex comments sitting down
"Well I thought since we had the time to ourselves, we'd go somewhere a little nicer." Olivia tells her, taking a sip of her water.
"No wine tonight?" Alex asks, sipping hers.
"I'm on call" Olivia says, shrugging.
They order their food.
"So your birthday is coming up" Olivia says, holding her hand out across the table for Alex to grab.
"It is" Alex agrees.
'I was thinking we could go somewhere , nothing big , just for a weekend, ' Olivia says brightly.
"You. Miss never takes time off work, wants to take me somewhere?" Alex questioned raising an eyebrow with a hint of a smile on her face.
"I do, how do you feel about Maine? It'll still be cold but they have some beautiful cabins overlooking a lake." Olivia suggested.
"Hmm, only if we go somewhere warm for Christmas" Alex counters.
"Deal" Olivia says grinning at her.
Alex smiles back and takes a drink of her wine.
They finish dinner and just walk down the streets of New York hand in hand. They finally hail a cab and go back to the apartment. As soon as Olivia locked the door , Alex had her up against it kissing her lips.
"I had a nice night" Alex tells her against her lips.
"Me too" Olivia said when they broke apart panting.
"Why don't we make this night even better" Alex says, biting her bottom lip.
"Lead the way" Olivia says, smirking.
Olivia wakes up to her alarm blaring. She groans. Alex was still naked next to her. She cuddled up closer to her until her second alarm went off then finally got up.
It was getting late at the precinct and her team had already gone home. Olivia was about to call it a night herself when Amanda came in looking into a cab abduction she had seen. Olivia sighed and got her phone out to call Alex.
The phone rang a handful of times and Olivia thought it was going to go to voicemail when Alex answered.
"Cabot" Alex answers
"Hey sweetheart, I just caught a case, I don't think I'm making it home tonight" Olivia tells her, sighing.
"That's okay, turn around" Alex tells her.
Olivia makes a confused frown and turns around to see Alex standing there in jeans and a sweater holding a bag of Greek food.
Olivia hung up the phone and smiled appreciatively at her.
"My savior," Olivia says, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
"Counselor, what brings you by?" Amanda asks, looking up from her computer.
"Liv forgets to eat sometimes, I don't want her to starve" Alex says grinning at Olivia who was pulling containers out of the bag.
Olivia looks up and playfully rolls her eyes at her girlfriend.
Amanda looked between the two and nodded and went back to trying to find the cab.
"So what's this new case ?" Alex asked, before stealing a bite of Olivia's gyro.
"Amanda saw a girl get kidnapped, we're trying to find the cab that took her." Olivia tells her.
"Think you can get us a warrant when we find it?" Amanda asked, looking over at them.
Alex was sitting on Olivia's desk and Olivia was sitting in her chair eating her very late dinner.
"Unfortunately I can't, I've been transferred to a different uint" Alex said, shaking her head.
"Damn" Amanda said.
"Well I will leave you to it. Be safe" Alex tells her, squeezing Olivia's shoulder.
"Of course" Olivia quips back.
Alex gathers her stuff and heads home.
Olivia and Amanda worked on the case all night. Fin and Amaro came to help the next day.
Olivia got home that night exhausted. Alex was wearing slippers with her hair pulled up sitting at the table head deep in a file and Calvin was nowhere to be seen. Olivia came up behind her and dropped a kiss on her hand and leaned down to loosely wrap her arms around neck, putting her face next to Alex's cheek kissing her again.
"Well hello detective" Alex quipped, chuckling , putting a hand up on Olivia's arms to hold her in place.
"Mmm, hello to you" Olivia says back softly, exhaustion dripping in her voice.
"Dinner is in the fridge if you're hungry" Alex says leaning back to look at Olivia sideways.
"Yea, I think I've lost my appetite" Olivia says, groaning, letting go of Alex and sitting next to her.
"Rough day?" Alex questioned elbow on the table leaning on her palm looking the exhausted detective over.
"Yes, we have some leads, they just don't make sense yet. Instead of that I'd like to talk about what you did today before picking up Calvin. I'm sure it was much nicer than my day" Olivia says back.
"Well I did laundry, cleaned, went grocery shopping and yes I got you that smoothie stuff you wanted" Alex says pointing a finger at Olivia.
Olivia gently smiled at her.
"Thank you" Olivia says.
Olivia got up and grabbed a banana.
Alex watched her open it and take a bite.
"That's all you're going to eat?" Alex asked delicately.
"I'm not all that hungry. How was Calvin's trip to his grandparents? Where is he by the way?" Olivia asked, still eating her banana.
"It was good. He told me they want to come up for his first game. They have this week for practice and his games start next week. There's two a week. One on Thursdays and one on Saturdays. He is in his room playing the game. Actually he should probably be getting off soon" Alex says looking at her watch for the time.
"Well I can't wait to see him pitch for his first baseball team. I haven't seen his pictures come in yet, have you?" Olivia asked, smiling with pride.
"Not yet, if they aren't here by Tuesday after practice whoever picks him up can ask the coach about them" Alex says back.
"Deal" Olivia says, throwing her banana peel away.
"I'm going to take a shower. I'll tell Calvin it's time for bed" Olivia said.
"Sounds good Liv" Alex says looking back at her file when Olivia walks out the room.
Olivia knocked on Calvin's door and opened it. He was playing his xbox 360 when she walked in.
"Hey buddy, it's time to shut it down for the night" Olivia tells him.
"Can I just finish this match?" Calvin pleads.
"Fine this match, then bed. I mean it, Calvin" Olivia says, giving in.
Calvin hurriedly nods and Olivia walks back out the room.
She goes into her and Alex's room, grabs her clothes and heads for the shower.
When her shower is over she goes back out to the living room and sees Alex still going over the file.
"Are you almost ready for bed? I'm wiped out" Olivia asks, leaning against the doorway.
"Yea, almost just give me a few more minutes" Alex says looking over her shoulder at Olivia.
"Of course" Olivia mumbles and heads to the bedroom.
By the time Alex actually got to bed an hour later Olivia was already asleep. Alex climbed into bed and kissed Olivia's forehead before throwing her arms around her waist and snuggling close.
The next day Alex was in her office working on her fourth cup of coffee that day when someone knocked on her door. Alex groaned and told them to come in, to her surprise it was Trevor.
"Hey Cabot, I brought you lunch" Trevor says, setting down a bag on her desk.
Alex looked at it skeptically.
"What, it's not going to bite" Trevor says, offended.
"Uh huh, what is this bribe going to cost me?" Alex asked, taking the sandwich out of the bag.
"I've come offering a plea deal" Trevor says smugly.
"Why does this feel like something I'm not going to agree to?" Alex questioned him.
"I don't know, because you like throwing your weight in the courtroom?" Trevor quips back.
"Ha ha" Alex says.
Before Trevor could respond one of her junior ADAs opened her door and stopped suddenly looking at them. Alex rolled her eyes.
"Can I help you with something while you're ruining my sandwich break?" Alex asked, annoyed.
"I just wanted to tell you the jury came back" the junior ADA said and then turned around and left.
"Ah the ice princess came back huh" Trevor says laughing.
"How do you think I keep them in line? My witty charm?" Alex questioned deadpanned.
Trevor chuckled.
"So this plea deal?" Alex prompted.
"Right, so I think we drop it down to five years" Trevor tells her.
"Fine, that sounds reasonable" Alex sighs and agrees.
"Great I'll send you the paperwork" Trevor says and gets up to leave.
Alex finishes her lunch and gets back to going over the open cases her unit has.
When Alex gets home with Calvin in tow she order's pizza because she doesn't feel like cooking. While waiting for pizza she and Calvin went over some of his homework he had a couple questions on. They heard keys jingle in the locks and knew Olivia was home.
"Hey guys, I stopped the delivery guy in the lobby" Olivia says walking over to the table and putting it down.
"Great" Alex says and gets up to grab plates.
Calvin puts away his homework and heads over to grab a piece.
Calvin had three slices of pizza before leaning back in his chair.
"I'm full," Calvin exclaims.
"I see that" Olivia says, chuckling.
Alex laughs too.
"Hey, so can I ask you guys something?" Calvin asks, suddenly nervous.
"Sure" they responded together.
"How do you know if someone likes you, like, like likes you?" Calvin asked quietly, looking between both of them.
Alex almost choked on her bite of pizza quickly taking a sip of water. Olivia rubbed her back to help.
"Uh, well, do you have someone in mind that you like?" Olivia asked softly.
"Yea, Emily, she's so cool, and super fun. She paints and even plays the game with Matt and me" Calvin says, his face beaming.
"Has she said anything to you?" Alex asked, getting her breath back.
"Well no" Calvin says dejectedly looking down at the table.
He took a breath and looked back up at them.
"How did you guys know you liked each other?" Calvin asked.
Alex grinned back and Olivia knew it was not going to end well for her.
"After a case Olivia asked me out for a drink, and out of curiosity I went. She didn't really like me when we first met" Alex starts and Olivia rolls her eyes, interrupting.
"To be fair you were sent to our unit to babysit us" Olivia reminds her.
"Anyway, so I went and she told me she knew there was much more to me than the hard exterior I showed. She told me she saw the compassion I was capable of and maybe I wasn't as bad as she initially thought" Alex finishes smiling over at Liv.
Olivia was looking back at her with heart eyes.
"So that's it. She gave you a compliment and you knew?" Calvin asked, confused.
"Pretty much" Alex shrugged, taking another sip of her water.
"It's the little things you do if you want to show someone you like them. For instance, for an entire month I would bring her a coffee every time I went to her office" Olivia tells him.
"More like you were trying to bribe me with coffee" Alex mumbles.
"But yes, I agree. Girls like when you pay attention to small details about them" Alex tells him.
Calvin nodded trying to take in this information.
"Thanks guys" Calvin says, getting up and going to his room.
When they heard him shutting his door Olivia looked over at Alex with a twinkle in her eyes grinning.
"That was also the first night we slept together" Olivia says with a lower voice.
"Well I wasn't going to tell him that" Alex says back playfully rolling her eyes.
"Oh God, we're going to have to give him the talk aren't we?" Alex asked wide-eyed
"Us or his grandparents" Olivia tells her, pulling her into a side hug.
Alex groaned in response.
Alex took Calvin to school the next morning so Olivia could get to her interview with Amaro.
He was quiet the entire drive so Alex kept casting side glances his way.
"You okay?" Alex asked, pulling up to school.
"Yea, yea, do you think it would be okay if we went out for a pizza after our first game next week? I want to invite Emily and Matt even if we lose. I think it'll be cool to celebrate '' Calvin asked eye's hopeful.
"I'll talk to Liv but I'm sure she will be fine with it" Alex agrees.
"Thanks" Calvin says, hugging her and getting out of the car.
"Have a good day" Alex says to a now empty car.
Olivia and Amaro finish their interview. They head back to the squad room to let everyone else know what they found out. Olivia got notified they found a body so their missing person case just turned into a homicide. Once Amanda and her got back from the M.E. She decided to call it a night.
"Calling it a night already?" Amaro asked from his seat, turning his chair to look at her.
"Yea, night guys" calls from over her shoulder leaving the precinct.
Amaro watched her walk out and the other's went back to work.
Olivia pulled up to the school a little before practice was let out and watched from the stands.
Calvin threw three fast balls and struck out the batter. Olivia grinned to herself, he really was getting better at his pitches. It took a few minutes before the coach called it quits. They had a huddle at the end of practice to talk about what went right and what each of them to work on. Calvin went to grab his bag and noticed Olivia standing by the stands and waved at her.
"Yo Benson, your mom is hot" one of his teammates says whistling.
A couple of the guys laughed with him.
"If you think she's hot you should see his other mom, she's fine" one of his other teammates says, shaking his head in approval.
Calvin grinded his teeth together and grabbed his stuff.
The two kids that made comments went up to him blocking him from leaving the dugout.
"Move" Calvin says shortly.
"Why don't you invite us over so we can get to know your moms better, huh, Benson?" One of them said suggestively.
"Move" Calvin said again, balling up his fist.
"Or what?" One of them said giving him a shove.
Calvin went to raise his fist and Jake came over and grabbed his wrist stopping him.
"Don't let him win. Come on Cal, lets go" Jake said moving them through the two that were blocking the exit.
When they got out , Calvin started walking faster.
"Hey wait up!" Jake told him. He started walking faster to catch up with him. He grabbed his shoulder, turning him around.
"What!?" Calvin shouted at him balling up the fist that was by his side.
"Just wait, you can't let those guys get to you" Jake said, taking a step back.
Calvin scoffed.
"That's easy for you to say, they weren't suggesting that they wanted to sleep with your mom" Calvin says, rolling his eyes. He kicked at the ground, dirt covering the top of his shoe.
"Those guys are just jerks. I'm sorry, I didn't stand up for you before now" Jake told him.
Olivia came jogging up to them when she saw the commotion.
"Boys, everything okay?" Olivia asked, putting her hand on Calvin's shoulder.
They were quiet for a moment and Olivia looked between them. Jake started to open mouth and Calvin beat him to it.
"Yea, everything is fine" Calvin mumbles out.
Olivia gave him a disbelieving look before looking over to Jake.
"That's your story too?" Olivia asked him.
He nodded looking at the ground.
"Come on, let's get you home" Olivia says, sighing , wrapping her arm around his shoulders, walking him to the car.
When they got into the car Olivia started it, just sitting there for a few moments. They both stayed quiet. Olivia bit her lip.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" Olivia asked gently.
"No" Calvin says gruffly, looking out the window.
"Okay" Olivia whispers.
She puts the car in drive and heads home.
When they get home Calvin heads straight to his home. Olivia makes hot dogs and mac and cheese for dinner. They both eat quietly. After they were done Calvin went to get up.
"Sit down" Olivia says authoritatively.
He sat back down huffing, not looking at her.
"You wanna tell me what happened at practice?" Olivia asked, crossing her arms leaning against the counter.
"No" Calvin grunts out.
"You know we are going to have to talk about it" Olivia tells him, continuing to stare at him.
" No we don't. Why can't you just leave it alone!?" Calvin shouts standing up from his chair.
"Because it looked like you were about to hit Jake today. We've talked about how you can't use your hands to solve your problems" Olivia tells him a little louder than before.
"Right because you've never hit anyone to get your way before? I saw the bruises on your hand a couple weeks ago" Calvin tells her scoffing, turning away from her.
"Hey, you don't get to just walk away from this Calvin! Listen to me, sometimes it's part of my job to use violence but that doesn't mean it's the first thing you do." Olivia says walking around the table to stand in front of him.
Olivia and Calvin have a staring contest until he rolls his eyes.
"I have to go shower for school tomorrow." Calvin tells her walking around her to go grab clothes and slamming the bathroom door.
Olivia sighs and goes to get changed for bed. She hears the shower turn off a little while later and hears his door close a lot softer than the bathroom door had.
Olivia was sound asleep when Alex had finally gotten home. Alex went to check on Calvin, she opened his door and he was sleeping peacefully. She shut his door and went to her own, she saw Olivia asleep too. Alex grabbed clothes from the drawer and went to take a shower. When she was finished she went to the kitchen and made herself a sandwich. She saw the container of mac and cheese but decided against it.
The next morning Olivia woke up early and started the coffee. When it was finished she brought it to the bedroom and sat it down on Alex's nightstand. She gently pushed Alex's hair behind her ear. Alex woke up with some protest.
Olivia chuckled.
"Good morning" Olivia greets her when Alex's eyes open.
Alex wiped at her eyes sitting up.
"Morning" Alex says sleepily.
"You got in late last night" Olivia says, handing her the cup.
Alex smiles at her appreciatively while taking a sip of the coffee.
" Yea, I was trying to finish signing off on the cases from last month that were cleared" Alex tells her.
"Oh, by the way Calvin wants to know if we can all go out to pizza with a few of his friends after his baseball game" Alex says, taking another sip of her coffee.
"Yea, I don't think so" Olivia says standing up from where she was sitting on the bed.
Olivia started grabbing clothes for work. Alex looked over at her confused.
"Okay? And why don't you want to celebrate his first game?" Alex asked, setting down her cup and walking over to her.
"I think we should pull him. He was doing so well before he was hanging out with those kids. And now? Yesterday I saw him almost hit a kid. He almost hit a friend and he wouldn't even talk about it to me. I don't think he needs to be around those kids" Olivia says back with finality.
"So that's it. No discussion, just let's pull him over one fight?" Alex looks at her in disbelief.
"Yea" Olivia says finishing getting dressed.
"I'm not pulling him out of a sport he is excited about. I'm sure if we talk to the coach and the school we'll get to the bottom of this" Alex says annoyed at her girlfriend.
"I have to get into work. I'll see you later" Olivia says back gently kissing Alex.
Alex huffs annoyed watching Olivia leave.
Alex looks up that night when she hears the door open and then shut. Alex had a glass of wine in front of her. Olivia sighs and comes to sit down next to her.
"Look, I'm sorry about this morning. I shouldn't have shut you out. I think talking to the school would be a good start" Olivia leans forward grabbing Alex's wine and drinking the rest of it.
Alex raised her eyebrows at her.
"Well good because that's what I did today. I talked to the coach and the principal. There were two boys who were causing trouble and the coach had already suspended them from the first two games before I had even talked to him." Alex tells her picking up her glass to refill it.
Olivia sighs out following Alex with her eyes.
"Did he tell you what happened?" Olivia asked her.
"The two kids were using provocative language against a student's parents." Alex says clipped.
"Against us you mean. That's why Calvin was upset. Then why did he try to hit Jake?" Olivia asked, confused.
"Jake stopped him from hitting those kids and Calvin was mad that he stopped him." Alex says returning to the couch.
Alex sighed and sat down her wine glass. She reached out and grabbed onto Olivia's hand.
"Liv, he is protective of us. That's what he was trying to do. He was trying to protect us, and you can't be mad at him for doing the same thing you would've done" Alex tells her.
"He is supposed to be better than us" Olivia huffs.
Alex shrugs.
"So we teach him" Alex softly says back.
Olivia nods and pulls Alex to the bedroom to go to sleep. They both had a long day.
When Olivia finished up with the arrest report she packed up and went home. Alex had picked up Calvin from practice that day since she was dealing with a suspect. Olivia walked in and heard the showering running and saw Calvin at the table still in his practice clothes.
"Hey Cal, how was practice?" Olivia asked him.
"It was good, it was the last one before the games start" Calvin tells her looking up from the paper he was writing.
"That's good, I'm glad. So do you think you're ready for the game?" Olivia asked, sitting down after grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.
"I think so" Calvin says, shrugging.
Olivia fluffed his hair and grinned at him.
" if you keep throwing those fast balls they won't know what hit them" Olivia replied smiling.
Calvin's face broke out in a wide grin.
"I'm sorry I yelled at you" Calvin says his face scrunched up like he was upset.
"Yea, well let's just not make a habit of it, okay?" Olivia asks.
"Okay" Calvin nods.
Olivia nods back and goes to the bedroom to change.
