AN: Hello, my readers! Here I bring you another adventure of our favorite slime, Rimuru Tempest and this time, he will meet what is for me, the best Avatar of all.
So... Let's get started!
Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken is set after the second season.
Legend of Korra is set after 'Ruins of the Empire'.
I don't own anything.
It was a warm and quiet morning in Rimuru City.
After what happened with Octagram, Rimuru knew that there were still things to do, but for the time being, he wanted to enjoy the peace and quiet, especially now that he had officially become a Demon Lord.
Right now, Rimuru, in his slime form, was resting peacefully in the sunlight in his home which was a small hut even considering the status and power he had, but that didn't matter to Rimuru, as he just wanted a quiet place where he could rest despite the fact that he couldn't sleep due to his slime status.
"*Deep sigh* This is what one deserves after so much stress and work. A nice relaxing, sunny day. It may be all boring, but one should enjoy the peaceful times before things get to crazy." said Rimuru.
"Warning. There is still the matter with Yuuki that…" began Raphael, Rimuru's skill filled with knowledge.
"I know that, Raphael, but I'd like to have some peace of mind before we get to that point." thought Rimuru.
"Warning. I detect a bit of boredom." said Raphael.
"Wow, it's got me." thought Rimuru with a bead of sweat. "All right. I admit it. As much as I like to get some rest, after everything that's happened, I'm a little bored. Maybe I could go see Hakuro and have him train me a bit or take a walk around city to see if anyone needs help."
Suddenly, a bright light appeared in front of him, startling him in the process before the light dissipated, revealing Treyni, one of the protective dryads of the forest.
"Greetings, Lord Rimuru." said Treyni.
"Treyni, I wasn't expecting your visit. To what do I owe the pleasure?" asked Rimuru.
"I'm sorry, Lord Rimuru, but something has happened that requires your help." said Treyni with a sad expression.
"Don't be sorry. Take it easy. What is it anyway that requires my help?" asked Rimuru.
"Do you mind if I come in to explain?" asked Treyni.
"Of course." began Rimuru stepping aside, allowing Treyni to enter the booth and sit down in front of the slime. "Go ahead and explain."
"You see, Lord Rimuru, as you know, we dryads are the tree spirits of the forest." said Treyni.
"Yes, I remember that from the first time we met." said Rimuru.
"Well, it turns out that, being spirits, we have the ability to communicate with other spirits, both in and out of this world." said Treyni.
"Out of this world?" asked Rimuru with a question mark popping out of his head. "What do you mean?"
"There is a place called the spirit world. A place where spirits can live away from humans and other creatures. That world not only connects to this one, but also to other worlds beyond this one." said Treyni.
"Raphael, you knew about this?" asked Rimuru surprised by the information received.
"Analysis. I didn't know." said Raphael.
"Another proof that, despite being the king of knowledge, it doesn't know everything." thought Rimuru with a bead of sweat. "So what does that spirit world have to do with that situation you talked about?"
"You see, I happen to have a friend in that world that I usually visit from time to time. When I went to see him this morning, he looked worried. When I asked him about it, he told me that he felt something very big and dark was threatening his home world and he wasn't sure if the people there would be able to resolve it." said Treyni.
"And I suppose you thought I could solve it, didn't you?" asked Rimuru.
"Yes, I told my friend about you and he agreed that you could help solve the problem." said Treyni with a smile.
"So, that means I would have to go to another world to solve that problem. On the one hand, I can't leave the others alone after what has happened lately, but on the other hand, I can't refuse to help a friend of a friend. My friends' friends are my friends too." thought Rimuru debating on what he was going to do. "Alright then. I'll help your friend."
"Fabulous. I'm sure he'll be happy about that." said Treyni happy that he agreed to help his spiritual friend.
"However, first I have to get things in order here, as I will most likely be gone for a while." said Rimuru.
"Of course. Of course." said Treyni.
After that, Rimuru went bouncing off to go inform the others of the situation.
Soon after, Rimuru found himself on a wooden platform and in front of him stood all the inhabitants of the city, including his most loyal subordinates and Veldora.
"All right. I'll be brief, ladies and gentlemen. Due to a problem a friend of Treyni's is having…" began Rimuru pointing to the dryad next to him. "I will be out of city for a while. So I expect you, in my absence, to protect the city and behave properly." said Rimuru. "I feel like I'm talking to a group of children that I'm going to leave alone at home. Although this wouldn't be the first time, as I had to be away while teaching Shizue's children."
"Don't worry, Lord Rimuru. We will protect our beloved city." said Rigurd.
"That's right. we are no longer the same as before." said Benimaru.
"We are stronger now than before." said Hakuro.
"That's right. As long as I am present, nothing will happen to you." said Veldora.
"You can go peacefully." said Shuna.
"Lord Rimuru, couldn't I go with you?" asked Shion wanting to go with him.
"I'm sorry, Shion, but this is a mission that, according to Treyni, I must perform alone. Although, of course, Ranga will go with me." said Rimuru.
"I will always go wherever you go, master." said Ranga wagging his tail in happiness while Shion pouted in envy.
"Anyway. That's all. Take care everyone." said Rimuru receiving cheers from the audience.
Later, Rimuru and Treyni were in the garden of the slime house, because, according to Treyni, only spirits or people with great connection to them could directly enter the spirit world, so Treyni was the only one who could help Rimuru enter there.
"Well, that's all sorted now. We can proceed." said Rimuru.
"As you say, lord." said Treyni before a bright light enveloped her and the slime.
A few seconds later, the light disappeared with the two of them included.
When Rimuru 'opened his eyes', he was amazed by the environment around him, for it was nothing like what he had seen both in his home world and the world he lives in now.
In fact, he could compare that place to one out of a fantasy fairy tale.
"Wow, that's an impressive place." said Rimuru as he watched a series of eel-like creatures, but with bird-like beaks, fly through the sky.
"Analysis. The energy emanating from this place surpasses that of our world." said Raphael.
"It's probably because of the spiritual energy. Even I can feel that there is more energy here than I imagined." thought Rimuru. "So where is your friend?"
"Follow me. It's not far from where we are." said Treyni leading the slime through the spirit world.
They were walking for a few minutes and in that time, Rimuru was totally focused on the scenery around him as well as the various spirits that swarmed around.
They continued walking until they came to a small hut placed in the middle of a meadow.
They knocked on the door and waited for a while until someone opened the door.
Rimuru was slightly surprised when he saw that the one who opened the door was a very old man with a long beard.
"Ah, Treyni. I see you're back." the old man said.
"Hello, Iroh. I came to tell you that I have brought someone who can help you with your problem." said Treyni recognizing the old man.
It was then that Iroh noticed the slime.
"Greetings, sir." said Rimuru.
"Ah, you must be Rimuru Tempest. Treyni told me a lot about you and I must admit you look cuter in person." said Iroh.
"Hehe. Thank you." began Rimuru rubbing the back of his head with a slight blush. "I guess you're Treyni's friend, right?"
"That's right, my name is Iroh. Treyni and I usually meet up when she comes to visit the spirit world." said Iroh.
"I understand. She told me that your world was having problems and that you might need my help to fix it." said Rimuru.
"Of course, but it would be better if I explain it to you inside." began Iroh allowing the slime and dryad to enter the hut and sit at a nearby table. "Would you like some tea?"
"You know I always like your tea, Iroh." said Treyni.
"Well, I guess some wouldn't be bad." said Rimuru before shifting into human form.
Iroh placed two cups on the table and poured tea into both.
Rimuru and Treyni took their cups and blew a little before proceeding to drink it.
"Well, how about it, Lord Rimuru?" asked Iroh sitting down across from them with his own cup of tea.
"It's very good. I've never tasted tea like this before." said Rimuru.
"Well, that's because you haven't met someone who brewed tea the way I do." said Iroh before laughing lightly.
"So what can you tell me about your world? If I'm going there to solve that problem, I need all the information I can get." said Rimuru.
"Sure. That's understandable. You see, Lord Rimuru, in the world you used to live in before you passed on, there are humans with a special ability known as bending. A martial art technique that allows the user to be able to manipulate one of the four elements. Air, water, earth or fire." said Iroh.
"So there are humans with powers similar to magic. I wonder if they are related." thought Rimuru as he listened to the story of that world.
"Those people are known as benders, but there is only one who has the power to bend all the elements. That person is given the title of Avatar." said Iroh.
"The Avatar?" asked Rimuru feeling curious about that person.
"The Avatar is a being that has been in existence for many millennia through a cycle of reincarnation that happens when it dies." said Iroh.
"And I suppose there is a new Avatar in your world, isn't there?" asked Rimuru.
"That's right. Her name is Korra and she and her friends have been performing world-changing feats." said Iroh.
For the next few minutes, Iroh was telling the slime all about the exploits of Team Avatar.
First he told him about the Equalists and how their leader, Amon, who was secretly a bloodbender, intended to take away the benders' abilities.
Then he told him about how Korra had to face her uncle and a very dark and powerful spirit, but after defeating them, she left open the spirit portals that connected that world with the spirit world, allowing humans and spirits to live together, something that impressed Rimuru, even as he told him about how, in doing so, she also brought back the airbenders who had been nearly extinct for over 100 years.
He then told him about the Red Lotus and their plan to eliminate the leaders to bring freedom to the world and although they managed to defeat them, Korra suffered a terrible blow that caused her to be out of commission for three years.
After those three years, Korra finally returned, only to have to face a friend of hers, Kuvira, who intended to conquer a city with a giant robot carrying a weapon charged with spiritual energy and when the robot fell, Kuvira tried to use the weapon, but Korra stopped it and the collision caused the creation of a new spiritual portal.
Needless to say, Rimuru was impressed by this.
Then, he told him about a man who, when attacked by a spirit, merged with it and tried to destroy the spirit world, but was stopped in time, although he managed to escape.
Finally, he told her about Guan, a man who served Kuvira and intended to continue her legacy, but Korra and her friends, along with Kuvira, managed to stop him before it was too late.
"Awesome. She really is an amazing person." said Rimuru.
"I think so too and that you already told me about her." said Treyni.
"Yeah, I know. As far as I'm concerned, she's worthy of her Avatar title." said Iroh.
"But that leads me to ask a question. Why is my help required? From what you've said, Avatar Korra is quite powerful. Shouldn't she be the one to handle the matter?" asked Rimuru.
"It is true that she is powerful, but for some reason, I feel that the approaching threat is far more than she can handle." said Iroh.
"What exactly is that threat? What is it that she is going to face?" asked Rimuru.
"I don't know exactly. All I know is that the spirits are very uneasy and worried and that hasn't happened since Vatuu." said Iroh.
"Please, Lord Rimuru. I wouldn't have brought you here if your help wasn't really needed." said Treyni.
Rimuru folded his arms as he paused to think for a few moments.
"Well, if Avatar Korra, who is almost like a heroine in this world, is really going to need my help, who am I to refuse?" asked Rimuru with a smile.
"I'm glad to hear that." said Iroh with a smile.
"I knew you would accept." said Treyni with a smile.
"So where can I find Avatar Korra?" asked Rimuru.
"You'll find her in Republic City. The portal that connects that world to the city is about halfway down that side. It's not hard to notice." said Iroh.
"I understand." began Rimuru before getting up. "Thank you very much for the information, Iroh and for the tea as well."
"You're welcome. Come visit me some other time." said Iroh.
"I will." said Rimuru before walking out of the house, leaving the old man and the dryad alone.
"I was right, wasn't he?" asked Treyni.
"Yes, I understand why you respect him. I'm sure he and Korra will become very good friends." said Iroh as he continued to drink his tea.
Meanwhile, Rimuru was walking through the spirit world until at last, he came to a huge field of flowers in the center of which stood a pillar of light reaching all the way to the top.
"*Whistling* Wow. I've never seen a portal like this before." said Rimuru.
"Analysis. The energy emanating from the portal is similar to that of the space transportation spell. I recommend proceeding with caution." said Raphael.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine." began Rimuru before walking to stand in front of the spirit portal. "Well, new world, here comes Rimuru Tempest." said Rimuru before stepping forward, crossing the portal in the process.
AN: And here is the first chapter where Rimuru begins his journey to the other world.
What will await the powerful Demon Lord, Rimuru Tempest, in a world full of benders?
We will find out soon enough.
See you in the next chapter!
