The second after Rimuru crossed the portal, he felt himself coming out of it, as if it was just a curtain and when he reached the other side, he was shocked to find himself in the middle of a huge crater covered with vines and around the crater there were tall buildings and airships flying through some parts of the sky.

"So this is Republic City." said Rimuru.

"Analysis. Detected various subjects carrying magic-like energy." said Raphael.

"They must be the benders Iroh spoke of. Anyway, I guess it's time to explore a bit while I look for the Avatar." said Rimuru before beginning his exploration of the place.

Meanwhile, in another part of the city, the famous Team Avatar was having a snack in a local restaurant with their satomobile next to them.

As soon as the day began, they decided to go on a little patrol through the city like in the days of the Equalists, but so far, nothing of concern had happened.

"You know? It might sound weird coming from me, but I'm glad nothing bad is happening." said Korra.

"You're right. It is weird coming from you." said Mako with a smile.

"Although it's also nice that nothing is going on. Sometimes it's nice to enjoy a little peace." said Asami.

"Yeah, because we all know that something will happen later that will make our lives exciting or worse." said Bolin.

"By the way, Asami, how's that project you said you were working on coming along?" asked Mako.

"It's still only in the process of being created, once I have the necessary data, I can start on it." said Asami.

"I just hope you don't push yourself too hard. You know you can count on me if you need me." said Korra.

"I know and that's why I love you." said Asami before giving her girlfriend a kiss on the cheek.

"How about you Bolin? Are you getting better at your new job?" asked Korra.

"Well, I admit it took me a little while to get used to so much paperwork and serving teas and pastries, but I think if I keep working hard, I'll be able to move up." said Bolin.

"That's the spirit." said Asami.

"I just hope you don't quit and find another job as usual." said Mako.

"Hey, I already told you that I'm not fickle. This time, I plan to follow through to the end." said Bolin.

"I'll believe it when I see it." said Mako before the group shared a laugh.

"To all units. To all units. Armed robbery at the central bank. Suspects have fled with loot and are circling near Cabbage Corp." said a police officer over the satomobile radio.

"Looks like the break is over." began Korra before the team sat down in their respective seats, with Asami at the wheel and Korra at her side. "I still don't understand why you won't let me drive."

"Because the last time you did, you almost crashed." said Asami.

"It was only once and you know it." said Korra.

"Girls, let's leave the subject of Korra's driving for later." said Mako.

Heeding the firebender, Asami started the satomobile.

"Team Avatar! Here we go!" exclaimed Bolin as the team's satomobile advanced down the street.

Meanwhile, Rimuru was walking through the streets of the city looking around with a big smile.

"This place brings back so many memories of my original world. Except for the whole steampunk theme that was so popular among young people. It's almost like I've stepped back in time." said Rimuru.

"Warning. Object detected approaching at high speed from behind." said Raphael.

Confused and curious, Rimuru turned his head in time to see a vehicle speeding through the streets, speeding past him.

Soon after, another vehicle appeared and accelerated in the direction the previous one had gone.

It was then, the moment that vehicle passed by Rimuru that he noticed its passengers as if in slow motion.

There were two men and two women, but the one that caught his attention the most was a dark-skinned woman with short black hair.

The vehicle they were in continued to accelerate until it disappeared around a corner as it chased the previous one.

"Raphael, have you noticed?" asked Rimuru.

"Analysis. The recent woman possessed a higher energy level than everyone else. Detected a spiritual presence within that woman." said Raphael.

"There is no doubt. She is Avatar Korra. I must not let her out of my sight." thought Rimuru.

Knowing it wasn't a good idea to draw attention to himself, he ducked into an alley and made a pair of wings shoot out of his back before taking flight as he set out to follow the Team Avatar vehicle quickly.

From what he could see, Team Avatar's satomobile was chasing another satomobile.

"Mmm. Looks like a police chase. Well, this will be a good opportunity to be able to observe their skills in person." said Rimuru.

Back with Team Avatar, it was still in pursuit of the criminals.

From the enemy satomobile, the hatch opened, revealing a pair of people in kabuki masks who set about launching fire, water and earth attacks in an attempt to hit their pursuers, but Korra, Bolin and Mako were able to counter some of the attacks while Asami drove the satomobile to dodge the others.

"At this rate we won't catch up." said Asami.

"Bolin, help me block their way." said Korra.

"That's done." said Bolin.

They both got up from their seats and used earthbending to create a large stone wall in the middle of the road, which forced the target satomobile to turn in another direction, with the Team Avatar's satomobile following them.

"That gives me an idea. Korra, Bolin, block their path to guide them in the direction we want." said Mako with a plan in mind.

"Roger that." said Korra.

For a while during the chase, as they continued to counter the thieves' attacks, Bolin blocked their path with walls of earth while Korra blocked other paths with walls of fire or earth.

That caused the satomobile to continue going in another direction, not knowing that it was going the way they wanted it to go.

All this was observed by Rimuru from the air.

"Mmm. It looks like they're using the streets to shut them down. Good thinking." said Rimuru.

In the end, the two satomobiles were cruising down a street at high speed and just as the enemy satomobile was about to pull away…

"Now!" said Mako.

Hearing the signal, Korra used her earthbending to create a huge wall of earth.

The enemy satomobile was about to turn, but unfortunately, both sides were blocked by earth walls they put up earlier and in the end, the thieves stopped the satomobile when they saw that they had ended up in a dead end.

Team Avatar stopped their satomobile a short distance from each other before the four got out.

Just then, Rimuru landed on the roof of a nearby building and kept his gaze on Team Avatar.

"I see the plan has worked. Let's see how things work out." said Rimuru.

"Republic City Police! You're under arrest!" said Mako.

"Surrender right now if you don't want to get hurt!" said Korra.

The driver's door opened and one of the thieves quickly got out, but the second he stepped on the ground, he threw a series of stalagmites straight at them, forcing them to step aside.

"Well, it looks like they don't plan on giving up." said Bolin.

"Well, it's their decision." said Asami putting on her electrified gauntlet.

The thieves, who turned out to be six in number, charged towards them as Team Avatar charged towards them as well.

A thief took from his canteens two drops of water that he froze to turn them into icicles that he threw at Asami, but she quickly dodged them.

He then proceeded to cover the floor with water that ended up frozen, with the intention of making her stumble, but Asami took advantage of that to slide towards the thief who covered his hands with water to create gauntlets of ice with which he intended to hit her, although Asami dodged a punch before kicking him in the stomach that made him retreat.

Before he could react, Asami rushed over and hit him with her electrified gauntlet, knocking him down in the process.

"Mmm. Iroh told me that one of their members was a non-bender. It must be her. You can tell she's had a lot of training, not to mention that gauntlet. That's an interesting weapon." said Rimuru.

Another thief created from the ground stone blocks which he threw towards Bolin who countered them with his own stone blocks.

Then the thief covered himself with rocks until he became a stone golem before advancing towards him.

Although Bolin was a bit surprised at first, he regained his composure and, taking some small stones from his pocket, created a lava shuriken that he threw towards the golem, which raised an arm to hit him.

The lava shuriken cleanly severed the golem's arm, exposing the thief's arm and then Bolin did the same to the other limbs, causing the golem to fall backwards before completely unraveling, exposing the thief which Bolin locked in an earthen prison.

"Impressive. Iroh told me about bending sub-elements like lava, but I didn't picture it in that style. In fact, it reminded me of a very popular toy from my world. What was it called?" asked Rimuru.

Another thief began throwing fireballs that Mako countered with his own fireballs before performing a kick into the air to launch a wave of fire that forced the thief to duck.

Then, the thief put his hands together to launch a powerful flare that Mako managed to block with his own hands and with a swing of his arms, undo the flare before charging towards the thief.

The thief tried to parry him with fireballs and waves of fire, but Mako dodged every move before wrapping his fist in fire and throwing a punch to the thief's chest, knocking him down in the process.

"He's strong. I'll admit it. If Benimaru trained him, he'd go even further." said Rimuru.

Korra stood in front of the last three thieves.

The first created a water whip to try to hit her, but Korra used a fire bow to undo part of the whip.

The second thief jumped up to launch several fireballs from his feet, but Korra dodged them before erecting a wall of earth to block the last attack.

The third thief took advantage of this moment to make a pillar emerge underneath the Avatar, which sent her shooting into the air, which the three thieves took advantage of to launch their elemental attacks.

However, Korra quickly took action and used airbending to stabilize herself and create a sphere of air around her that protected her from the attacks.

Propelling herself with firebending, she returned to the ground and quickly created an air scooter on which she rode and quickly circled around the thieves.

She circled a couple more times before jumping up and launching a wind wave with a horizontal kick that knocked the thieves down.

After that, Korra pulled out a pair of metal balls from a small pouch that she manipulated with metalbending to turn them into small ribbons that she threw towards the robbers and turned them into clamps that kept their arms and legs stuck to the ground.

"Mmm. Truly she is skilled and good at bending the elements. However, being skilled and strong isn't enough if she's going to face that threat Iroh told me about." began Rimuru before getting to thinking. "I think I have an idea." said Rimuru with a smile.

"Ha. That was a sucker." said Bolin.

"Well, after everything we've faced, it would make sense that some third-rate thieves would be nothing." said Asami.

"Now all that's left is to warn Chief Beifong and have her and her men deal with them." said Mako.

Korra was about to say something when she suddenly froze, as if she felt something approaching and turned to look at the earthen wall they had put in the middle of the road to stop the thieves.

"Korra, are you okay?" asked Asami noticing her girlfriend's expression.

"Something's coming." said Korra.

Before anyone could ask, a couple of cracks were heard and everyone turned their gaze to the wall that was beginning to crack until it exploded into thousands of pieces, leaving a smokescreen in the process.

Soon after, the sound of slow clapping reached their ears and they all looked ahead to see past the slowly melting smokescreen a young-looking person with blue hair and a mask covering his face.

"Bravo, Team Avatar. You put up a good fight. I congratulate you. Especially you, Avatar Korra. You impressed me." said Rimuru.

"Who are you?" asked Korra staying cautious, as she could sense that this person wasn't normal.

"Are you with them?" asked Asami referring to the thieves.

"No. I would never be with guys like them." said Rimuru.

"So, are you… an ally?" asked Bolin.

"Or enemy?" asked Mako staying cautious as well.

"Mmm. Good question. Tell me, Avatar Korra, if I were really an enemy, what would you do?" asked Rimuru before releasing some of his power, making the atmosphere feel heavy.

Team Avatar was in total shock as they felt the enormous power this person was giving off.

"W-What is this feeling?" asked Bolin.

"How does he have so much power?" asked Mako.

"I feel like I'm going to faint." thought Asami.

Of all of them, Korra was the most shocked, as she hadn't felt this much power since UnaVaatu, the dark Avatar.

Her first thought was to run away, but she felt that if she did, that person might chase her or hurt a lot of people, among them, her friends and her girlfriend.

With firm resolve, she showed a serious expression and took a step forward, much to Rimuru's surprise, though it couldn't be seen with the mask.

"Interesting. A normal human couldn't even take a step in the face of such pressure. In fact, I'm glad they didn't at least faint." thought Rimuru.

"I'd fight you! I don't care how powerful you are! I'd fight you even if it cost me my life!" declared Korra with determination and seriousness.

"Korra!" exclaimed Asami worried about her girlfriend.

"Really? Despite the power advantage, you would fight me?" asked Rimuru.

"If it's to defend those I care about, I will." said Korra in all seriousness.

"Avatar Korra… You have passed the test!" said Rimuru immediately stopping releasing power.

Needless to say, that left the Team Avatar members completely shocked and confused.

"EH?!" asked the four of them in unison.

"Hehe. I'm sorry about earlier. I just wanted to make sure of one thing." said Rimuru.

"Wait, was that before just a little test?!" asked Mako in surprise.

"Well it wasn't funny, I almost fainted!" said Bolin.

"Why did you do that?!" asked Asami.

"Explain yourself! Now!" demanded Korra.

"Calm down. Calm down. I understand your anger and I apologize for it. As for why I did it, well…" began Rimuru before removing his mask to reveal his face to those present. "My name is Rimuru Tempest and I was sent to help you, Avatar Korra."

"What? Who sent you?" asked Korra.

"Let's say it's someone who is very good at making tea." said Rimuru by way of a hint.

That made Korra's eyes widen in surprise, for there was only one person she knew with that description.

"Are you… Are you talking about Iroh?" asked Korra.

"Wait, you mean the great Iroh, the dragon of the west, the uncle of Lord Zuko and who helped Avatar Aang end the 100-Year War?" asked Bolin.

"Yes, that's the one." said Rimuru, as Iroh also told Korra about some things about the previous Avatar.

"But that doesn't explain why you did what you did before." said Mako.

"Well, I was watching your fight and I recognize that you all are skilled and strong, but I wanted to know what you would do if you were in the presence of someone truly strong. And you approved as soon as Korra declared that she would fight me regardless." said Rimuru.

"Korra, were you really planning to sacrifice yourself like that?" asked Asami.

"I had to. I wouldn't stand for you or anyone else to get hurt." said Korra.

"That's very noble of you and I appreciated it, but I would have fought you had it happened." said Asami.

"And so would we." said Mako.

"Yes, Team Avatar sticks together even in the face of the greatest dangers." said Bolin with a smile.

"I see you're not the only brave one, Avatar Korra. You have good friends, no doubt." said Rimuru.

"Thank you, but you said Iroh sent you to help me. Why?" asked Korra wanting to know why her friend from the spirit world would send someone so strong to help her.

"I think we would agree to talk it over in a more private place, don't you think?" asked Rimuru.

With a joint nod, Team Avatar and the human slime came to an agreement, for they wanted answers as to why someone so strong was sent to their aid.
