October

Dear Will,

Happy Halloween! Today, Mom sent me something from her Facebook memory. It was of you, me, Dustin, and Lucas in middle school. It was the year we went as the Ghost Busters. We thought we all looked like losers since we were the only ones who showed up to school in costume. Now I'm happy we did it. That day was fun.

I'm writing this letter from Hawkins. I'm staying at Fort Wheeler for the weekend. Max and Lucas decided to elope! They did it a few hours ago at the courthouse. Jane and I were the only witnesses since she was the maid of honor. They plan on having a giant party over the Christmas Holliday and having their honeymoon over New Year.

Everyone thinks Dustin is seeing someone. I noticed he had a certain glow about him. The same one I had when we first got together. He's always smirking at his phone. He was on his phone during that convention last month for almost the entire time.

You can't tell, but I took a break from writing this. Guess who visited? Nancy and Jonathan. Nancy is sitting outside, helping Mom pass out candy. Jonathan looks so tired. I wanted to say something, but he looked on the verge of tears.

Now, the paper is wet. I better be careful not to tear it. Jonathan came up to my room. He asked how I was doing. That's when he saw the letter. I had to explain it to him, bringing me to tears. We hugged and cried for a good thirty minutes. He asked to read the other letters, but I don't know if I'm comfortable with that. These are very personal for me.

Tonight was the first night I genuinely smiled. I smiled, celebrating Max and Lucas. I smiled, seeing Holly dressed as Supergirl before leaving for a Halloween party. I feel horrible. You could be suffering, and here I am smiling.

I miss you, and I love you. I hope you're happy and healthy.

Love, your boyfriend,

Mike
