It was the middle of the night in Republic City and everyone was sleeping peacefully, especially Team Avatar, as they had recently raided the Triple Threat Triad base and detained everyone there, as well as confiscating and/or destroying any cargo there at the risk of it falling into the hands of someone evil or insane (like Varrick).

Although they were sleeping, Rimuru was still awake, as he didn't need to sleep and was on the roof of the building quietly watching the city being illuminated by the spirit portal.

He may have come to that world to resolve a dangerous situation that hadn't yet happened, but he still enjoyed his time in that world and in the company of his new friends.

However, no one, not even he, could sense what was happening.

At the spiritual portal of Republic City, all seemed quiet, with the light from the portal illuminating the area, but then, something or someone crossed the portal.

That person stared at the city around the crater where the portal was.

"Ah, Republic City. It is nice to see you again. I would like to see how things have changed since my departure, but I have business to attend to." the person said before leaving.

In a small house in the slums of the city, there were several men, but they weren't just any men.

These were members of the Triple Threat Triad who were discussing what happened with the police and Team Avatar.

"Damn. We've been dealt a big blow." said one of the men in frustration.

"I can't believe months of collecting and recruiting have been wiped out in a matter of hours." said another of the men.

"At this rate, the triad will eventually disappear." said the third man in grief.

Suddenly, the doors to the room opened violently, drawing the attention of the men standing there.

"Who's there?" asked one of the men.

"How dare you come in here?" asked another of the men.

"Gentlemen. Don't tell me you have forgotten about me?" asked the person who passed the doorway entering the room and the men gasped as soon as they saw who it was.

It was a man of average height, but the most striking thing was that his right arm was a tentacle and the right half of his face wasn't human.

"T-Tokuga?!" exclaimed one of the men.

"The last time we heard from you, you disappeared into the spirit world! We thought you had died!" said another of the men.

"You thought wrong. I was just hiding until the time was right for you to return. And what do I find out? That our triad is falling apart!" said Tokuga looking angry.

"P-Please forgive us. Since you left, things have been going wrong for us." said one of the men.

"Y-Yes. Several of our people left to join other triads and most people have stopped being afraid of us." said another of the men.

"We tried to obtain materials through the artifacts the Equalists used as well as recruit members who were kicked out of other triads, but the Avatar and her squad of cronies located our secret warehouse and took everything from us." said another of the men hoping that would rid them of the spirit man's fury.

"The Avatar, huh? Well, I guess I can't entirely blame you for your incompetence. Just this once." began Tokuga calming the men. "Now, the most important thing is to get back what is rightfully ours. Starting with the territories we lost."

"But, sir. We have no men or armaments left. How do you plan to do that?" asked one of the men.

"Fortunately, I didn't spend all my time in the spirit world hiding. I also gathered a few benefits." said Tokuga with a wicked grin.

"Benefits?" asked another of the men.

Suddenly, a few grunts were heard from behind Tokuga and the men were horrified when the ones causing the grunts showed themselves.

"Soon, not only will we regain control of this city, but even the Avatar will be beneath us." said Tokuga with a toothy grin.

The next morning, Korra, Asami and Rimuru were enjoying a light breakfast.

"Hey, I just realized something. Being a slime, do you really need to eat?" asked Korra curiously.

"Not really, but that doesn't mean I enjoy the taste of food." said Rimuru with a smile.

"You're right. I would feel a little sad if I wasn't able to enjoy the food even though I don't need to eat it." said Asami.

Just then, a butler came through the door.

"Miss Asami, Miss Korra, you have a call from police officer Mako." said the butler.

"I'll answer it." said Korra getting up to answer the call, with Asami and Rimuru following behind, as they were curious.

"What's up, Mako?" asked Korra picking up the phone. "What? Really? How is that possible? Okay, we'll be right there." said Korra hanging up the phone.

"What happened?" asked Rimuru.

"The central base of the Agni Kai Triad has been attacked." said Korra

"What?" asked Rimuru and Asami in surprise.

Later, the three of them, aboard Asami's satomobile, went to the scene of the crime, which was a completely destroyed building, with several police and emergency vehicles parked around it and several people, whether they were civilians looking at the scene with curiosity or people who were affected by what had happened.

"Wow. It looks like a tornado acted up." said Rimuru.

"Only in this area?" asked Asami not believing it was natural.

Getting out of the satomobile, the three approached Mako and Bolin who were near the destroyed building.

"Mako, what exactly happened?" asked Korra.

"We don't know. According to witnesses, a couple of men came in the middle of the night and soon after sounds of fighting were heard before the building collapsed." said Mako explaining the situation.

"Have there been any injuries?" asked Rimuru.

"Almost all of them. Most are in serious condition." said Mako.

"Have you been able to find out anything?" asked Asami.

"No, half of the survivors were unconscious and the other half too scared to say anything. Which is very strange." said Bolin.

"Hmm. In view of what the witnesses have said, it was most likely an attack between triads." said Rimuru with her arms crossed.

"I've been thinking the same thing myself. The question is which one of them it was." said Mako.

"Considering the number of triads in the city, it could have been anyone." said Asami.

"Well, if it has attacked the Agni Kai Triad, then it's only a matter of time before they attack again." said Korra.

"Agent Mako! They're attacking the base of the Red Monsoon Triad!" said a police officer.

"What?!" asked the five in unison, surprised by the recent information.

"Looks like it didn't take them long to do it." said Rimuru.

In a matter of minutes, the five arrived with Asami's satomobile at the scene of the crime, where they found the same scene as before, namely a destroyed building with several wounded.

Korra quickly got out, knelt down next to a man lying on the ground and lifted his head slightly.

"Are you okay?" asked Korra.

The man let out a groan of pain as he opened his eyes slightly.

"The… The Avatar?" the man asked weakly.

"What happened here? Who attacked you?" asked Korra hoping to get answers.

"The… The horror. We… were many… He… was one, but… Monsters… Monsters!" exclaimed the man before collapsing in surrender.

Rimuru walked over to him and put a couple of fingers on his neck.

"He's still alive. He's just unconscious." said Rimuru, to the relief of the others.

"It's fine. This confirms about the attack between triads." said Mako.

"But we still don't know who is responsible." said Asami.

"I have an idea." began Rimuru drawing the attention of the others. "In scale of power, which is the most powerful triad?"

"That would be the Creeping Crystal Triad." said Bolin.

"Wait, you think Jargala has something to do with this?" asked Asami.

"I would find that hard to believe. She may be the head of a triad, but she's not the type to completely destroy a place." said Korra remembering her alliance with that woman.

"Maybe, but I'm not just saying she's the culprit, I'm saying she could be the next target." said Rimuru.

"There's only one way to find out." said Mako.

Shortly thereafter, the group arrived at the base of the Creeping Crystal Triad, with two guards guarding the main entrance.

They got out of the vehicle and approached the entrance.

"We are here to see Jargala. Tell her the Avatar wants to see her." said Korra.

The guards looked at each other and nodded to each other before one entered the base.

It was a few minutes before the guard who entered opened the door and stepped aside, a sign that they could pass.

They were walking through the halls, being led by the guard, until they reached a door which the guard opened, allowing the group to enter an office where a woman could be seen sitting behind a desk.

"Why, bless your eyes, Avatar Korra. I always thought you'd be the last person to visit me." said Jargala with a smile.

"The thought is mutual." said Korra.

"Let's get down to business. They have attacked the Agni Kai and Red Monsoon Triads." said Mako.

"Getting to the point directly. I like it. Regarding the attacks on the other triads, I know about it." said Jargala.

"And… you are responsible?" asked Bolin.

"No, but that doesn't mean I'm against it. After all, I'll have less competition this way." said Jargala.

"Aren't you really the one who is carrying out those attacks?" asked Rimuru a bit suspiciously.

"No and if it were me attacking the triads, I wouldn't do such a dirty and destructive job." said Jargala.

"For some apparent reason, I think you speak the truth." said Korra.

"Thank you. That comforts me." said Jargala.

"So, that would mean you're next to be attacked." said Rimuru.

"Ha. Let them try. They'll be in for a good surprise." said Jargala.

"You shouldn't underestimate them. They've already wiped out two triads." said Asami.

"Because those were weak." began Jargala using her earthbending to avoid a small green gem. "I'm not like them."

Suddenly, they began to hear screams of panic and pain from outside the office.

"What the hell is going on out there?" asked Jargala angrily.

In response, the door burst open as a man was shot into the office and impacted against the desk, destroying it in the process.

"But what...?" asked Jargala in surprise and confusion, as did the others.

It was then that Rimuru sensed something alarming.

"Look out!" shouted Rimuru quickly grabbing everyone and pulling them out of the way just as something entered the office from the ceiling, leaving a huge hole in the process and causing a curtain of smoke.

By the time the smoke cleared, everyone was shocked when they saw a creature that was made of a dark substance, with a pair of tentacles on its back and several glowing balls in a row inside.

"A dark spirit?" asked Korra in shock.

The dark spirit turned its 'gaze' towards them and let out a roar before shooting its tentacles towards them, but Mako reacted quickly and repelled the tentacles with a horizontal kick of fire.

Soon after, through the entrance of the office, another dark spirit that looked like a lizard with a gecko mouth appeared while, emerging from the floor, a dark spirit in the shape of a worm emerged.

"I don't know where these things came from, but they made a mistake coming here." said Jargala before stomping her foot, causing a row of stalagmites to emerge from the floor in the direction of the lizard dark spirit.

"No!" shouted Korra managing to neutralize the attack with her own ground attack.

"Why did you do that?" asked Jargala.

"Don't kill the spirits. If you do it will affect your own spirit." said Korra remembering what she learned about the true story of Avatar Kuruk, who was hunting dark spirits and because of it ended up sick and dying.

"So how do you suggest we stop those things?" asked Jargala.

"Whatever we're going to do, we'd better do them quickly." said Bolin as the two dark spirits prepared to attack them.

"If we can't kill it, we'll hold them off." said Rimuru.

"There is no other choice." said Asami preparing to fight, as did the others.

Mako and Bolin stood near the dark spirit worm that lunged at them.

Mako managed to stop it by creating a wall of fire and Bolin took advantage of that to create several stalagmites that crossed at the tip, enclosing the dark spirit in an earthen cage.

Asami and Jargala stood in front of the lizard dark spirit that shot its tongue towards Asami who managed to dodge it before managing to grab it with her electrified gauntlet, launching an electric shock that made the dark spirit scream in pain, something that Jargala took advantage of to shoot some green gems at the spirit's legs and the moment they touched the legs, they extended until they hooked into the ground, trapping the spirit.

Korra shot a stream of water at the last dark spirit, covering its lower body with water before freezing it, managing to trap its legs, but its tentacles, being free, reached towards her and would have hit her if Rimuru hadn't pulled out of nowhere a katana that she used to cut the tentacles, making the spirit roar in pain.

Before he could continue, Rimuru got on top of him and punched him in the head sending him crashing to the ground, knocking him down in the process.

"Now, Korra!" said Rimuru knowing what the Avatar had to do.

Korra acted quickly and used waterbending to create a pair of water ropes that swirled around the dark spirit.

With smooth movements, she made the ropes move gracefully and elegantly as the spirit glowed with a golden light.

Soon after, the spirit was bathed in a golden light and when it dissipated, it revealed itself to a small spirit.

After that, Korra did the same to the other spirits, returning them to their original, pure form.

"Go in peace." said Korra bowing as if in prayer.

"Oh, yes. I'd forgotten she could do that." said Bolin.

"So, is everything settled?" asked Jargala.

"It looks that way, but I can't figure out what a couple of spirits are doing here." said Mako.

"I haven't seen any since the Magic Convergence years ago." said Asami.

Before they could ask anything, they heard a groan and looked to the source to find that the first spirit Korra purified was waking up and looking at the Avatar.

"Avatar, thank you so much for healing me." said the spirit.

"You're welcome, but why did you turn dark? Did something happen to piss you off?" asked Korra.

"Oh, no. It was nothing like that. It was his fault." said the spirit.

"His?" asked Rimuru with an arched eyebrow.

"I never saw anyone like him. He wandered aimlessly through the spirit world and wherever he went, everything turned dark and cold. I tried to escape, but he grabbed me, turned me into what I was before and forced me to obey him. I'm sorry for what I did." said the spirit on the verge of tears.

"Don't feel bad." began Korra kneeling down in front of the spirit. "You said it yourself. He made you do bad things. You aren't to blame for anything."

"Thank you." said the spirit.

"Can you tell us who it was that transformed you?" asked Rimuru.

"Well, I don't know who it was, but I can tell you that it was a human and a spirit. Oh, and he had a tentacle for an arm." said the spirit.

That made everyone in the room go wide-eyed with horror, as they found that description immediately.

"That description… It can only be him." said Asami in horror.

"Of course. I should have guessed that something like that would be his doing." said Mako.

"There's no doubt about it." said Bolin.

"Yes. Tokuga is back." said Korra.

"And it looks like things are going to get more complicated." said Rimuru.

Back at the Triple Threat Triad building, Tokuga was sitting on some sort of throne with his eyes closed, as if he was meditating.

"Mmm. Looks like the Avatar has finished off a couple of my pets. No matter." began Tokuga rising from the throne to look around the room, where different glowing eyes could be seen among the shadows. "I guess it's time to level up."

"Level up?" asked one of the men standing in that room along with the others. "But sir, with the rest of the triads in the state they are in, we have a chance to rule the slums of the city."

"Yes. Now the Triple Threat Triad is back on top." said another of the men.

"You're wrong," began Tokuga, confusing the others. "This isn't over yet. It won't be over until the Avatar and her friends have fallen."

"May I remind you that the last time you faced the Avatar and her friends, you ended up losing and hiding in the spirit world." said one of the men.

In the next instant, Tokuga grabbed the man's neck with his tentacle and pulled him towards him to look him in the eye.

"You are right, but unlike before, I am now much stronger than before. Now even the Avatar won't be able to keep up with me." began Tokuga as a dark aura surrounded him, frightening the men. "It is time to send the Avatar my welcome gift."
