Chapter 4

I woke up in the middle of the night from a nightmare. My whole body was covered in sweat and I was breathing fast. I didn't know what to do. I got up, grabbed my six Poké balls which housed my Pokémon, I changed my clothes and went downstairs.

Opening the side door to the garage, I saw my father in his alt mode, recharging deeply. I touched his handle and opened it to get in, he climbed inside then started him up by hot wiring the truck. The black GMC TopKick roared to life, I backed out of the garage and raced down the street.

Pikachu looked at me while driving. "Pika?" it tilted his head toward me. my Pokémon got out of their Poké balls, except Charizard and Onix.

I looked at my Pokémon and smiled as I was driving. I was only fifteen, but I saw my father drive Ironhide's alt mode a few times. So, I could do it. I was going a little faster than normal, the dream of losing that battle still haunted me sometimes—and tonight wasn't any different. I was driving down the street slowly. I didn't see the semi coming and it hit me. Causing me to back out. Ironhide did a few flips before landing on his alt mode's roof.

I was blacked out, my Pokémon were badly injured, police, fire trucks and an ambulance were called to assist the situation. A firefighter ran to the flipped Top Kik and one of them crouched down and shined their flashlight through the window.

Five passengers. Four Pokémon and their trainer were badly injured, two Pokémon were in their Poké balls. The firefighter opened the door, thankfully the door wasn't caved in so they didn't have to use the Jaws of Life to cut through, they just had to pick the lock.

I was dragged out. The firefighter grabbed his backpack and the six injured Pokémon to bring them all to the hospital and Pokémon center.

The paramedics loaded me and my injured Pokémon into the ambulance. Ironhide was towed to the mechanic shop so he can be checked out tomorrow.

My Pokémon was taken to the Pokémon Center, I was taken to the ER to get checked out, and probably go into surgery.

"Does he have any family?"

"I don't know. We can't ask him." the other doctor told his coworker.

"Who can we call?" The doctor asked.

"We can go to the receptionist desk and ask for the number of his parents. The two doctors walked to the receptionist desk of the ER.

"We need the phone number of a boy that was brought in not so long ago."

"What is the problem?"

"We can't go through his phone and call his parents."

"Then, what should we do?"

"Dr. Martian, there is someone here." The man walked in. He was the owner of the semi who hit Ironhide.

"Hi, my name is Anthony Martinez, I heard that you took a boy in today." his voice was breaking. The man had jeans, work boots and a hoodie on. He also had a hat on, and his helper Pokémon Ivysaur, was next to his feet. the man took a breath.

"He was driving a black 2006 GMC Top kick. That's all I know. I-I don't know if my brakes failed or what, but I was just driving. I didn't see the truck and it slammed into me."

"Ivysaur." His Pokémon said.

"It wasn't your fault… okay? We need to call his parents."

"Call them."

Will picked up his phone and tapped the answer botton.

"Hello?"

"Hi, this is Dr. Martian, who am I speaking to?"

"You're speaking to William Lennox. what's going on?" Will asked, sitting up and swinging his legs on the edge of the bed and getting up, not waking Ironhide.

"Your son has been in a car accident. He and his five Pokémon are not in good condition."

Will ran downstairs and swung open the side door for the garage. Ironhide was gone.

"Shit…" he cursed under his breath.

"You need to come down here now, Mr. Lennox. your son is currently staying in PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital and Pokémon Center."

Will's heart sank to his stomach. "Okay, I'll come as soon as possible."

"I am sure your truck is safe, Mr. Lennox."

Will ran and grabbed the spare keys to his other car. He ran to his barn and opened the doors that housed his truck. A red 2005 Ram 1500. Before Ironhide, this truck was how he got around California.

Will got inside and went to the hospital and Pokémon Center.

He stopped his truck at the hospital, Will ran into the ER and went to the receptionist. "Excuse me I'm looking for a boy named Lance Lennox."

"He's staying in the room across from you."

"Thank you, where is the Pokémon Center?"

"It is on the second floor."

"Thank you." he said. Will first checks on his son.

"Oh, Mr. Lennox, your son is going into surgery now. you'll have to wait."

William went to the Pokémon center that was on the second floor of the hospital. The elevator doors open and he walks up to the front desk. A man with red doctor scrubs and a white doctor's coat was taking Pokémon to the back and treating them.

"Hello, can I help you?" he asked

"Yes, I'm here for my son's Pokémon."

"Alright, what Pokémon does he have?"

"He has Pikachu, Sylveon Greninja and Starly."

The Doctor walked to the back and pulled out a small Poké ball holder that held his three Pokémon. Pikachu was sitting on the desk.

"Pika!" Pikachu called out, Will smiled and picked him up and smiled.

"Are you ready to go?"

"Pikachu!" William put his other Poké Balls into his pocket and went to the elevator to the first floor.

Will stood from the chair he was sitting and walked up to his son's door a few hours after his operation. He was still asleep. The doctors took him into surgery long ago and he needed to rest. Lance was probably under the medication, Will walked in and held his hand. Pikachu sat by his bedside. Will took his hand and put it towards his head and closed his eyes. He took a breath as he was trying to stay strong.

His doctor walked in.

"Hi, I'm Dr. Martian, are you the father?"

"Yes, what the hell is going on?! How did this happen?"

"Well. My brakes locked up and that caused the accident. I'm sorry this happened but—" Will walked up and pulled on his shirt.

"You listen to me, where is my truck?!"

"I-It's at the mechanic's shop!" He struggled to say. Will sighed and got out his phone and texted Ratchet to find Ironhide and take him back to NEST.

"You're lucky that no one got seriously hurt." Will sent a death glare at him.

"Ivysaur."

"What's your name by the way."

"Anthony Martinez."

"Alright, Anthony. I'm not going to press any legal action because it was an accident." Will said. Then he got close to him. Anthony backed up as he was backed into a corner.

"And if you ever, do this again…"

"Woah, woah!" the doctors said, pulling Will off the man. Anthony pushed him off as Will was being grabbed by the doctor. Pikachu was about to use Thunderbolt on his trainer's father—if the doctor didn't interfere that was.

Anthony slid his back towards the wall, then he walked out of the room.

A few hours pass, Will went back into the room, I was out of surgery already and resting now. Will pulled up a chair, Pikachu was in William's arms, Sylveon was laying on the floor next to his bed.

Will walked towards me and touched my cheek. "Why didn't you tell me?" he mutters, sitting in the chair that was beside his bed.

I still had my eyes closed. I was breathing, Will saw my Pokémon still in the soldier's arms. Pikachu was scared for its trainer.

"Lance. I just want to let you know that I'm not mad, okay? I was worried, my heart dropped when I got the call from the doctor that you've been in an accident. I don't want you to pass… What about your whole life ahead of you, didn't you say that your next journey was New York City to compete in the New York Pokémon league?" that didn't work. I stayed unconscious.

"Come on Lance, please!" He said again—begging for me to wake up.

William sighed and sat there, looking down at the ground. He thought of his son, his boy. He is scared that something might or will happen to him when he's in this condition. He sighed again, touching my cheek.

"Mr. Lennox, you have to go now, visiting hours are over." William nodded.

"Pikachu, I want you to keep an eye out for your trainer."

"Pika!" He salutes the soldier. Will pet the Pokémon on the head then left, he was going to visit me tomorrow.

I finally opened my eyes. A few days later, Will and Ironhide were sitting in my hospital room, My Pokémon were sitting around me. Pikachu saw his trainer open his eyes first and hugged him.

"Pika Pikachu!" my Pokémon said happily.

"Hey, Pikachu!" I smiled then hugged him.

"Lance!" Will embraced him in his arms, I did the same, I smiled and stayed like that.

But then, I remembered…. I remembered the accident.

I moved away from him and pulled my knees up to my chin and sat there.

"Dude, if this is about Ironhide's alt mode… don't worry about it… We're not mad… We're just glad that you and your Pokémon are safe… I don't care… Ironhide can get himself fixed at NEST, okay?"

I sighed, Pikachu smiled and he hugged me. I sighed and I looked at my father, William smiled at me, he put a hand on my shoulder, telling him that it was okay.

I smiled at him and looked at Ironhide. His alt was damaged but he was fine—thank Primus. Ironhide went to my bedside and put a hand on my head.

"Ironhide, I'm sorry, man." he said.

"Hey, hey, hey. I don't care about my Alt right now, I just care that you and your Pokémon are safe, alright?" I hugged him and I held him. I smiled as I felt comfortable in my step father's arms.

Will smiled at them, Pikachu jumped onto his trainer's shoulder. I flinched.

"Ow, ow. Hey Pikachu." I winced as I adjusted myself to feel more comfortable in the hospital bed. "Pikachu…" My Pokémon apologized.

"It's okay buddy. I know you didn't mean it."

I nod and hug him again. All my other Pokémon hugs me too. Will walked up to me and put a hand on my shoulder. I smile at both my fathers.

Sam and Bumblebee were walking to my room. They were visiting me, when they found out that I was awake, they had to come, Sam was worried about him. We all did go to the San Francisco Pokémon League.

Sam and Bee walked into my room.

"Hey, Sam." Ironhide said.

"Hey, Hide. How's Lance?" Sam asked.

"I'm fine, Sam." I said

"You sure, you got hit pretty bad, Ratchet showed me the damages through text."

I nodded and sighed. Sam walked up to me and embraced me like both my fathers did. "Thanks, Sam… but I'm okay."

"What about your Pokémon, are they okay?"

I nod, Sam sat by me and looked in my direction.

"You okay? Do you want something to eat?"

I nod. "Can you get me Chipotle? I want a burrito."

"Sure dude."

"I'll text you what I want."

"Okay, I'll be back. Bee, you want to stay or come with me?" Sam asked.

"I need to come with you anyway, I'm the car, dude." Bee told his best friend. Sam nods, Torchic was in his arms. He walked out of the room with Bee and Torchic Sam walked out of the hospital with his Pokémon and guardian, then he went into Bee's alt mode, Sam started the car and they went to get me some food.

I was now eating in my room. Ironhide and Will were talking to each other, I was listening to 102.7 KIIS FM on my phone.

"Pokémon Centers in Hollywood are closed for repairs, but the hospitals are still open, so if you want to take your Pokémon to the Pokémon Center. there are ones open in Los Angeles."

Sam was sitting by me, holding my Sylveon. Starly was perched on Ironhide's holoform.

"Looks like we can't take our Pokémon to get treated in Hollywood." Sam said. I nod.

"At least we have a center at base." I told Sam.

"True. And we have Ratchet, so he can treat them."

"Does he know how to treat Pokémon?" I asked.

"No, another soldier knows how to, do you want to battle when you get better?"

"Yeah, if we can, I think Ratchet won't let me battle."

"I don't think either." Ironhide told him, walking up to me, I put the tin foil in the bag that it came with and placed it on the ground.

"Lance," Will said.

I nod.

"We're going to NEST alright?"

"Okay, sorry about your Alt mode, Ironhide."

Ironhide nodded and smiled, I hugged my step father and they both left.

"You want me to stay?" Sam asked.

"Sure."

Sam sat next to me and watched my phone screen, staring at the different options for my Pokémon types specially.

"What is that app?"

"It's a Pokémon health app. It helps me track my Pokémon's level, attack levels. And even diet."

"I heard about that. They talked about it on the radio once before." Sam said, nodding.

"Yeah. Ratchet actually recommended it to me. It was on the Pokémon League's website. I asked Ratchet about it and he said that it was a good idea, he does have the equipment in the MedBay, but I'm not there a lot."

"That's a smart idea, actually. Hey I have an idea, why won't we have a battle when your discharged? the hospital does have a battlefield in the back."

"Sounds like a plan, Sam."

Days later, I was fit enough to battle. I was dressed in the attire that consisted of a blue Autobot T shirt, checkered shorts and NIKE Air force ones that Ironhide bought me when starting on my journey.

Sam and I were about to start, then someone walked up to them.

"Lance?"

"Ben?"
