He looked to Denki as they ran, hoping with all he had that they'd make it in time to at least do some of the exam. All for not as the exams were over when they arrived. However, Aburame-sensei wanted to speak with them about why they were late. Upon hearing their story of the fire and entering it to rescue three trapped children Aburame had stated that they wouldn't be taking the test next year.
Immediately the two began trying to negotiate staying in the school, but Shino Aburame, a man who concealed his face and wore large sunglasses like goggles over his eyes simply stated, "The tests are designed to determine whether you can apply what you've been taught to real situations. You demonstrated that today, and prioritized the safety of others. You'll make fine Shinobi."
This had delighted the two friends who later saw their names on the list of students who had passed the exam. However, there was still another piece to graduating, a practical exam. He felt confident in being able to pass that one, however. It was the written exam that he'd been worried about.
Having the rest of the day off Iwabee decided to go to Thunder Burger with some of his classmates, one of which, was Denki. Denki Kaminarimon was without a doubt the shortest student in their year. He had black chin length hair, some of which he gathered into a top knot. He had dark eyes and wore glasses, his attire consisted of a blue suit with white trimmings and sandals.
Also joining them were Sarada Uchiha, Chocho Akimichi, Metal Lee, and Inojin Yamanaka. Sarada had shoulder length black hair, which she parted to the right, and black eyes. She wore red glasses, and a red dress with black leggings and black sandals. Metal, if Iwabee was being honest, looked like a younger clone of his father with a few differences, for one, his eyes were a bit sharper than Rock Lee's. Chocho had a darker complexion than himself, amber eyes, and brown hair. She wore a pink dress, with a net t-shirt underneath it and black arm warmers. Her hair was pulled back into two ponytails, which she kept back with a pink headband.
Inojin Yamanaka almost looked exactly like his mother, pale blue eyes with shoulder length blond hair, which he kept in a ponytail. He had his father's very pale complexion. Until meeting Sai Yamanaka, Iwabee hadn't thought it was possible to be that white. The man almost looked like the moon had sprouted limbs and decided to be human… if the moon had a consciousness and could decide such a thing.
After a while Denki looked to him and asked, "So what are your parents like, Iwabee?"
The question was a slightly raw topic for him, but Denki had no way of knowing that. So he simply answered, "my big sister is quite firm. She's fair, and she's never given any indication that I'm not welcome in her home. But I don't remember much about them. They died about twelve years ago, actually a little more than that now. So—I guess in short, I'm not too sure. I know they were Shinobi, and my grandfather was also a Shinobi—but beyond that I don't remember much about them."
"I'm sorry," Denki apologized, to which the taller boy raised his hand to stop him and reminded him, "it isn't like I speak of it, so don't sweat it."
"Anyways, let's get some food," Chocho interrupted, changing the subject. Iwabee had to suppress a laugh. If that girl ever thought of anything aside from training, boys and food he'd be shocked. She wasn't unattractive. Admittedly he wasn't a big fan of light eye colours, and she would look better if her hair were a bit darker as well, maybe not black hair but definitely a richer dark brown. Still, he had to admit she was pretty. However, she could be self centered, and that was a trait he found repulsive.
Entering the restaurant they spotted a boy with spiky blonde hair wearing a black and pink track suit. There was no mistaking who that boy was, even without seeing his face. Boruto Uzumaki, son of the seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki.
As far as Iwabee was concerned, Boruto was the splitting image of his father. The only difference being that Lord Hokage had three whisker markings on either side of his face while Boruto had two. Boruto's little sister, Himawari had the same markings.
Sakiya had confided in the past that three of them reminded her of cats whenever she focused on the markings. He figured anyone could make that comparison. He stoically greeted him, "Boruto, meeting you here usually means one thing."
The blond boy turned around and smiled as he greeted them, "hey guys! I was gonna surprise you in class tomorrow, ya know?"
"Surprise us? Boruto the last surprise you gave us left all of our mouths on fire," Sarada interjected.
"Yeah, I'm usually all about food but that was pretty spicy," Chocho agreed.
"Shikadai's stomach was giving him some trouble today. Which if you recall, he did tell you about," Inojin added.
"Yeah, I know," Boruto answered, rubbing the back of his neck.
"A little warning would've been welcomed, but overall, it wasn't he spiciest thing I've eaten," Iwabee admitted. He felt a bit bad in a way, the others were pointing out where Boruto had messed up and he felt he needed to speak up a little in his defense. This did however cause the others to look at him, wide eyed as if they'd all seen a ghost at that moment.
"Hmm? Where'd you eat something spicier than that? I wouldn't mind trying it," Boruto asked with a broad grin.
Iwabee chuckled a little as he replied, "I'll have to find out if it would be alright. I'll let you know."
There was a chorus response from the entire group of "huh?"
Iwabee ignored the choir as he looked over the menu, unflinching, and resolved to figuring out what he was going to eat.
Elsewhere Sakiya placed a small green sphere with a small crack across one side on a table and placed her hand over it, she closed her eyes for a moment before her hand began emitting a green glow from it. Brash and irresponsible, letting this happen to a gikon. Without it she had to rely on sheer force of will in order to separate herself from her faux body and pray that nobody mistook the faux body for a corpse.
After two or three minutes the glow stopped emitting from her hands and she examined the gikon, smiling as she recognized that it had healed perfectly. She then looked over at the three large oblong shaped objects on the other side of the room and remorsefully approached them, one of them was a blond-haired man. He appeared to be in his late teens or early twenties, there was a large gaping hole on the left side of his uniform that spread from his upper chest down to his lower abdomen. The body itself didn't appear to be injured.
The next one was a blue haired girl who seemed to be around Sakiya's age, she was a little taller and wore an ornate pink cloak along with a standard shinigami uniform. The middle of it was almost fully obliterated, however it seemed that the injury that had caused the uniform to be damaged was either fully healed or close to it. The last one however made her throat tense, and her eyes sting. A woman who seemed in her mid to late twenties, with hair as white as snow resided in the third object. She had an injury from her left shoulder straight across to her right hip, and internal damage to every organ in between, but as with the blue haired girl, the main evidence of this injury was on the uniform and no longer on her body itself.
"A few more months," Sakiya stated into the quiet room as she regarded the three of three oblong objects the three adults were in. "A few more months and we can try to revive you, Aunt Minori—and Mom. I won't give up," she vowed. She brought hand up, gently grasping at a necklace hidden underneath her uniform, a white gold heart shaped locket with small pink diamonds along the outside of the locket and at the center was a white heart shaped diamond.
