Good News! I love this cute, hinted at in the manga so many times, couple so much that I have decided to make this into a mini series.

Warning: No sex, but some suggestiveness and a teenage boy buying condoms.

Disclaimer: I do not own Yugioh and likely never will.

Part 2.

Keeping it Secret.

There was a definite bounce in Yugi's stride as he walked home from Anzu's house. He had started the day a boy and was ending it a man. A small part of his male ego wanted to swagger and brag about it, but his humble nature and common sense reminded him that it would be a terrible, cruel thing to do to the woman he had just shared something so magical with. Besides, if he so much as mentioned it to Jonouchi, Anzu would likely never forgive him, and rightly so.

Even though it was late Sunday afternoon and the store was closed, when Yugi opened the entrance door to the residential part of the building and stepped inside, he could hear his grandfather pottering about at the front of the store, dusting display cabinets and re-stocking them, ready for opening at eight tomorrow morning.

Any hopes Yugi had of nipping upstairs unnoticed to his room, were dashed when his Grandpa looked up from the cabinet he was cleaning and called out, "Ah! Hello Yugi! How did your studies with Anzu go?" He was certain that with Anzu as a 'study partner' his grandson's studies would go very well indeed. And after everything Yugi had been through over the past couple of years, he deserved to do well in his final exams.

"Good, thanks!" Yugi called back, walking through into the shop area to save shouting. "We finished the whole assignment!"

Standing up straight from the low shelf, Sugoroku stretched his aching back and chuckled. "That's excellent! I'm very proud of you my boy."

"It's only one assignment Grandpa!"" Yugi replied, chuckling. "I still need to pass my exams." He grimaced when he noticed his poor old grandfather's lack of mobility. "You really need to take a proper day off Grandpa, let your back settle a bit."

Sugoroku waved him away. "There's nothing that a quick stretch won't cure." He smiled, changing the subject back again. "I'm sure you will pass your exams with flying colours," he said with certainty. Not sharing in his grandfather's confidence, Yugi scratched the back of his head and shrugged.

"Dunno about flying colours, but I'll at least scrape it," he said, semi-jokingly.

Sugoroku tutted. "Well, now you're home. would you mind lending me a hand? There's a couple of boxes I need bringing out here. I would do it myself, but… ya know, me poor old back." Just to emphasise, he massaged the joint in his lower back and winced.

Yugi rolled his eyes. "Maybe your back needs more than a quick stretch then," he pointed out, with a hint of teasing.

"Oi! More respect for your grandfather," Sugoroku teased back. Yugi smiled warmly.

"Of course I don't mind helping Grandpa. He dropped his book bag on the counter. "Which boxes do you need?"

"The one marked Anime Figures, and the one marked trading cards," Sugoroku told him.

Nodding, Yugi went to the back of the store and carried the two boxes through, placing them down where instructed to. "Would you like me to help you stock the shelves as well?" he asked.

"Thank you. That would be a great help," replied Sugoroku, smiling when Yugi knelt to rip the parcel tape off the first box and he spotted a small bruise on his grandson's neck underneath the collar of his shirt. His grandson also smelt of a woman's perfume.

He could not resist asking, "How was Anzu?" There was a huge hint of suggestion in his voice.

Trying to hide his blush, Yugi turned away and started taking the little anime figures out of the box. How the hell did Grandpa guess?! "She's good, thanks," he said casually, so as not to give the game away.

"Has she heard back from the dance school in New York yet?"

Standing up, Yugi shook his head. "Not yet." He started handing the figures to his grandfather. "They have high standards," he added, as he watched Grandpa diligently arranging the figures in the cabinet. "I think they're waiting until she gets her exam results before they confirm her place."

Sugoroku turned to look at his grandson. "You're going to miss her when she goes, aren't you, Yugi?"

Usually, Yugi was used to the teasing, but after what happened with Anzu earlier he blushed furiously. His response was defensive. "Of course I will! She's my best friend! But I won't try and stop her doing what she's always dreamed of." ….Just as he did not stop Atem from stepping through those doors to the afterlife, although sometimes he wished he had.

Sugoroku smiled sympathetically. "I know how much losing Atem has upset you, I don't want you to suffer again when Anzu goes. So if you need to talk…."

"I'll be fine Grandpa!" Yugi interrupted rather abruptly. "You don't need to worry about me. I've processed Atem leaving," he lied, "-and Anzu's going to New York, not the afterlife, so I'll be fine."

"I know. But you're still very young, and you've been through an awful lot in the last couple of years. I just want you to know I'm here for you, okay?"!

Nodding, Yugi smiled. "Yeah, I know. Thanks Grandpa. I didn't mean to snap at you, but I'm good." He was better than good right now, and did not want to spoil his mood by thinking about Atem being gone or the prospect of Anzu leaving.

::::::::::::

It was only when Anzu got in the shower that she noticed the love bite on her neck, and other small bruises peppering her breasts and collar bone. Gosh! Yugi really had gone to town. For his first time, he had been pretty adventurous and bold for a boy who used to be so timid and shy.

Her hand slipped down between her legs. It was pretty amazing how he instinctively knew what to do with his fingers. Even she had not managed to give herself that much pleasure, and she knew where things were! She could not wait for him to pleasure her again like that.

Feeling embarrassed by her own thoughts, she grabbed the shower gel and started washing.

The marks on her chest she could hide, but the one one her neck was going to be more difficult – she would have to do her blouse up and tie her cravat properly tomorrow.

::::::::::::

The following morning, Yugi rose early and spent longer than usual on his appearance. He happily ate breakfast, and then ran out of the door to meet Anzu so that they could walk to school together. Watching him go to school with such enthusiasm for a Monday morning, his mother and grandfather shared an amused look. They usually had to wake him up and drag him out of bed on a Monday morning, and he also tended to be a grouch at breakfast!

Anzu was not at the usual meeting spot when Yugi got there, so he waited. Five minutes later she came running down the steps with a big smile on her face. He responded with a beaming smile of his own –she was as beautiful as always.

She greeted him with a nudge. "Good morning Yugi! How are you today?"

"Great, thanks! How about you?"

She shrugged. "Tired." She feigned a yawn. "But better now I've seen you."

"I tend to have that effect on people," he joked. They both giggled.

They started walking, neither bringing up the previous afternoon, but both waiting for the other to mention it. There was definitely an awkward atmosphere between them.

Typical! Anzu found it irritating; they should be discussing how they were going to proceed before they arrived at school, because they would not be able to discuss it once in class.

With half a mile to go, she had had enough. "About yesterday," she said. Yugi stopped walking and turned to smile at her, nodding.

"It was nice," he said, not knowing what else to say.

She rounded on him. "Nice?!" she snapped. Realising there were people were nearby who might hear, she lowered her voice. "We shared something precious, and all you can say is 'it was nice!'?"

He cringed. "I didn't mean it like that!" he said defensively. "I meant…" he trailed off – what did he mean? "I really want to take you on a proper date," he said. "I've still got my tournament winnings, I can afford to take you somewhere really nice."

Smiling, she nodded. "That would be lovely, Yugi. But what we need to do first is talk about our relationship. We crossed a line from friends to lovers. We were very… intimate. We have to decide if we should… do it again, or put things on hold until I know for definite if I've been accepted into Juilliard."

"I want us to do it again," he said, again without thinking, cringing when he saw the look on her face. "I mean… I love you. I want us to be a couple. We can worry about New York when the time comes."

Anzu nodded thoughtfully. "That's a bit how I feel too. But we mustn't mention it again while we're at school. We have to act like nothing's changed between us to avoid suspicion."

"Okay," Yugi agreed, willing to do whatever to please Anzu.

They started walking again. "Do you want to go somewhere after school?" he asked.

"Sure. But the guys will know something's going on if we say we want to be alone."

Yugi shrugged. "Tell them you've got dance class, I'll say I'm helping Grandpa."

"My dad's still away, and my mum's working and won't be home until seven. You can come round for tea after school, if you like?" she suggested hopefully. He grinned.

"Sounds good!" eagerly hoping for round two – he should probably stop off at the store on the way, to buy some more condoms.

As hoped, none of their friends suspected anything and the school day went by as usual. After all, it wasn't like they had huge signs on their foreheads announcing they had slept together yesterday.

As expected, Jonouchi suggested they all went to hang out at the arcade after school.

Yugi caught Anzu's eye.

"Actually, I can't," she said. "I have dance class."

"And I promised Grandpa I'd help him in the store!" said Yugi.

"And I promised my sister I'd look after Joji," Honda said, groaning.

"I need to be somewhere else, too!" said Ryou, not wanting to admit to his friends he was having counselling to help him get over the traumatic events in his life caused by the spirit of the ring. They worried about him enough as it was.

For a moment Jonouchi looked disappointed, and then brightened up. "How bout I come help Gramp's with ya Yuge?"

Yugi cringed, trying to think of an excuse. "Er.. Sorry. It's kind of not convenient. My Dad's home, and my Mum's cooking a special dinner and I'm helping Grandpa clear up so we can close early." It was a rubbish excuse, but the best one he could think of on the spur of the moment.

"You didn't tell me your Dad's home?!" Anzu exclaimed, trying to bolster his excuse.

Yugi's face flushed. "Didn't I? Yeah… I meant to tell you guys: he came home yesterday on a surprise visit. He's only here for today, then he's off again in the morning. I'd really like to spend the evening with him."

"Oh, well!" Jonouchi shrugged. "Tell ya dad ya pals say 'Hi!'" Sighing in disappointment, he added, "Guess I'll just have to go home to suffer my old man, unless he's out getting drunk."

Feeling sorry for his friend, Honda suggested, "You can always come and help entertain my nephew? That's far worse than dealing with your old man."

Jonouchi snorted. "Meh… I'll go and annoy Sanpei instead," he concluded. "I'm not down to work today, but hopefully he's got some groceries he can pay me to deliver. Smell ya later!" He ran off.

"Yes. Bye everyone!" Ryou left too, leaving Yugi and Anzu alone with Honda, who turned and gave them a knowing grin.

"It's okay you two, I'll keep your secret safe." He winked.

Anzu and Yugi both gasped. "What?!" they both said at the same time.

"No...no…. You've got it all wrong. It's not what you think!" said Yugi, blushing.

"We just want to be alone together, to study for our exams," Anzu said, with more composure than her boyfriend. "We've been working hard to catch up."

"Oh…. Right…." he said, smirking. "I'll let the two of you go then." With a knowing look, he turned to leave. Those two were terrible at lying about their obvious attraction to one another. But, although they had been spending a lot of time together lately, he was wondering if either of them had the guts to act on it. Nah….they were way too shy.

"Phew! That was close," Yugi whispered to Anzu after Honda had gone.

"You think?" she replied. "Jonouchi's too dumb to notice. Ryou's too distracted. But I'm sure Honda suspects something."

Yugi shrugged. "So what if he does? I trust him not to tell. And anyway, it's not like we're obvious or anything."

They started walking. Passing the chemist, Yugi stopped. "I need to get some…. you know?"

"Oh!" Trying not to gasp, Anzu put her hand to her mouth. "I'll wait…" embarrassed, she looked around. "over there." Leaving Yugi standing there, she hurried over to a bench under a cherry tree and sat down. Looking up at at the branches, she noticed they had signs of buds already starting to form –exams would be over and they would be graduating before they knew it, and then she would leave for New York.

Taking a deep breath, Yugi went into the chemist shop, praying he would not see anyone he knew.

Feeling very self conscious he went up to the counter. A young woman in her early twenties was serving, which increased his embarrassment level even more.

"May I help?" she asked. Yugi stood squirming on the spot, words dying on his tongue. The young woman rolled her eyes at him. Teenage boys!

"Can I…" he gulped, his throat drying up. He tried again, "Can I have…. Featherlightextrasensitive," he blurted.

"Sorry, I didn't quite catch. Did you want something for an extra sensitive skin condition?"

"No!" he seethed, becoming exasperated with her. "Condoms!" he hissed through gritted teeth.

"Oh! I thought you meant…" Sensing his embarrassment, she tried to be professional and not to let her own awkwardness show by giggling. "Which ones would you like?

"Those!" He pointed at the shelf behind the counter. "Extra sensitive."

Smiling to herself, the young shop assistant took a packet off the shelf and Yugi nodded, confirming that they were the ones he wanted. She rang them up and he paid. Quickly shoving them in his bag, he left, only breathing properly again once he was outside. That was far more awkward than he thought it would be.

He found Anzu sitting on the bench.

Smiling awkwardly, she looked up at him. "Did you get what you wanted?" she asked. He nodded.

"Yup! No problem," he said, pretending it had been a breeze.

They did not hang around and made their way to Anzu's house.

Opening the front door, Anzu lead the way inside. The were both excited, awkward, nervous and giggly.

"Do you want to go straight up to my room, or shall we have something to eat and drink first?" she asked, grabbing his hand. Yugi could not wait to go upstairs with her, but he was also hungry and thirsty.

He did not have time to reply.

"Anzu. Is that you sweetheart?" Mrs Mazaki called from the sitting room.

Anzu and Yugi froze. " .God!" Anzu mouthed, looking at Yugi in horror. "Do you think she heard?"

He shook his head. "I dunno," he mouthed back.

Putting on a forced smile, Anzu went into the sitting room. Her mother was laying on the sofa with the curtains drawn.

Anzu's smile fell as she became concerned. "Mum! Are you okay?"

"I felt a migraine coming on, so I came home early," her mother replied.

"Have you taken painkillers?"

"Yes. Just waiting for them to start working their magic." Mrs Mazaki squinted past her daughter. "Is that Yugi with you?"

Anzu looked over her shoulder to see Yugi standing behind her. "Yes. We cam home to study for our exams. Would you like some tea? I was about to make some."

"Yes, that would be lovely, thank you. Green tea, please?"

Smiling apologetically at Yugi, Anzu made her way to the kitchen to make the tea. "I guess we should study in the kitchen rather than go to my room," she whispered, disappointed.

Yugi nodded. "It's okay. It can't helped," he said, mirroring her disappointment. "Will your mum okay?"

"Yeah, she'll be fine." She touched his arm sympathetically. "Are you okay about us not being able to, you know?"

Nodding, he smiled, and leaned in to kiss her gently on the lips. Aware of Anzu's mother in the other room, he did not linger. "I'll live," he winked at her. "I'm sure we'll get to be alone again soon."

Anzu was just about to pull him in for a longer kiss, when they heard Mrs Mazaki's voice behind them. "What are you two whispering for?"

The young couple startled, and Anzu pulled away from him like she had been burned. "We didn't want to disturb you! And what are you doing wandering around. You should rest."

"I came to get my tea."

Anzu rolled her eyes. "It's not ready yet. I'll bring it to you. Now go and relax Mum, or your migraine will get worse."

Mrs Mazaki tutted. "Yes, Mother Hen," she teased. Mother and daughter both laughed at the joke.

Yugi watched on with mild amusement. Little did he realise that trying to snatch time alone with Anzu was going to be more difficult than they both realised.
