Against my better judgement, I'm still making this up as I go along so no idea how this will end. But rest assured, I will try not to let it fizzle out into a crappy ending.

I brought Jonouchi into this chapter, and although I had not originally intended to put in any polarshipping, there are some hints of it in this chapter. Yugi is also reminded of Atem and has a missing him moment.

Warnings: nothing much, just a bit of dirty talk and smut at the end.

Chapter 6.

Discretion.

With the exception of Yugi and Jonouchi, everyone had places to go and things to do after school today.

Jonouchi watched Yugi's body language as Anzu said a cheery goodbye to everyone and hurried off to her dance class. There was nothing too obvious in either Yugi or Anzu's behaviour that gave anything away to the untrained eye, but Jonouchi would not expect them to show any hint of affection while they were still within the school grounds, or wearing the school uniform, anyway.

However, he did notice that Yugi's gaze lingered on her until she was out of sight. He also had a far away look of appreciation on his face.

"What you up to now, Yugi?" At the sound of Jonouchi's voice, Yugi snapped out of his reverie and turned his gaze towards his blonde friend. That far away look was gone in an instant.

"Huh?! Oh! I don't know." Yugi hesitated a moment before adding, "I suppose I'll head home and help Grandpa in the store."

Jonouchi could not resist giving his friend shit stirring grin. "Missing Anzu already, eh Yugi."

Yugi tried to glare at him, but it looked more sheepish than threatening. "What's that supposed to mean?!" he said defensively.

Jonouchi winked at him. "Meh…. Stop playing innocent Yug! I know you two are an item."

Yugi looked around, but luckily most of the other students had already gone and there was no one close enough to overhear. But he was still concerned at how loud his friend's voice was. "I don't know what you're on about, Jonouchi!" he said tightly. "C'mon, let's get out of here!" He turned on his heel and walked purposefully towards the school gates. Jonouchi hurried after him.

"Wait up Yug! I was gonna ask if you wanted to hit the arcade?" he shouted even though he had reached his smaller friend's side.

Yugi stopped walking. "I thought you had work!" he said, scrutinising his friend.

"Nope!" Jonouchi shook his head. "No dog suit for me today!" There was an obvious hint of amusement in his voice. "So, what about it, eh? We ain't been in ages!"

Yugi nodded. Jonouchi was right, it was months since they had been to the arcade. "Okay! Why not?!" he replied, suddenly feeling quite keen on the idea.

As the two friends walked, side by side, Yugi realised that the last time he went to the arcade with Jonouchi was when Atem was still here, and that was almost six months ago! A wave of nostalgia, along with a sense of loss and emptiness suddenly hit him. But being Yugi he did not let it show, and instead forced a big grin. "I wonder if anyone has beaten our high scores!"

Jonouchi grinned in return. "If they have, let's retake them!"

"Yeah!" Yugi punched the air enthusiastically.

It was only when they reached the arcade that Yugi started to think about the game Atem had wanted to play when they last were here. Yugi had let him take control of his body, and it was only after he felt the rush of competitiveness surging through his connection to Atem that he realised why the Paharaoh had been so keen to play it; Seto Kaiba had the existing highest score, and, up until that point, no one had managed to get anywhere close to surpassing it.

As if reading his thoughts, Jonouchi said, "Hey! Do you remember when you and Atem were determined to thrash Kaiba's high score?!"

Yugi chuckled. "I was just thinking about that. It was more Atem than me, but between us we succeeded."

"Do you think your score still stands?" said Jonouchi. Peaked by his curiosity, he squeezed through the a group of teens hanging around the entrance and made his way to the machine in question.

Yugi followed him. "We'll soon find out!" he replied, also apologising to a couple of youngsters that had been pushed aside by Jonouchi.

They reached the gaming machine, with it's brightly painted casing and bold display, which was designed to appeal to potential players. The game in question was one of those games where you battled numerous zombie attacks and required fast reactions and great multi-tasking skills with the controls. It was something Jonouchi was crap at –zombies freaked him out so he preferred racing car games– but Yugi and, as it turned out, Atem, were both incredible at it.

As was Kaiba, whenever he had some precious time to spare.

Yugi smiled fondly when he saw TEM was still there, as the highest ever score.

Jonouchi grinned. "Told ya that would take some beating, didn't I?"

"You sure did!" said Yugi, his heart swelling with pride for Atem and the fond memory it brought.

It was little things like this that he hoped would always remain with him. Fond memories; not of lunatics taking threatening mankind, but of places they visited together, games they played and the fun they had getting to know one another.

"I'm gonna go motor racing," Jonouchi decided. Grand Turismo was one game Yugi struggled to beat him at.

"Okay. I'll play Kung Fu Fighter." Yugi loved fighting games and was a massive Bruce Lee and marshal arts fan. Strange for a lad that hated violence, but it was not real world violence. In the real world he had always been useless at defending himself in physical fights. However, in a video game, he was a kick arse black belt master and could knock out anyone who dared to fight him. At one time, every kick, every punch or chop was delivered with one of his bullies in mind. These days he had no bullies so it was just for fun.

::::::::::::

After an hour or so of playing on the game machines, the two friends decided they were all played out and needed to go and get something to drink.

They went to the cafe next door to the arcade and found a seat.

"What ya having Yugi? My treat," said Jonouchi, pulling out his wallet.

"Are you sure?! Don't you still owe Mister Clown?"

Jonouchi waved him away. "Na… Well, I do, but he's got me working all weekend so he'll soon owe me wages," he said, with a gleeful chuckle.

"Oh, well, okay. I'll just have a cola, please," Yugi said politely.

"Cool. I'll go get em, then." Clutching his wallet, Jonouchi went up to the counter. Yugi need not know that buying the drinks would leave him short of dough for the bus fare home, leaving him no choice but to walk the four miles home.

Unaware of the dire financial state his friend was still in, Yugi pulled out his phone to check for any messages from Anzu. The only message was from his grandfather, asking what time he would be home. He replied to say he would be home in half an hour or so, before pocketing his phone again.

A few moments later, Jonouchi had returned with a can of cola for Yugi, and an iced coffee for himself. He handed Yugi his can, and a straw.

"Thanks." Yugi would have liked a glass to pour it into, but did not say anything. He popped the tab, stuck his straw in and took a long sip. He had not realised he was this thirsty!

"So, Yugi," Jonouchi began, as he poked at the ice of his own drink with a straw. "About you and Anzu…"

Yugi coughed and almost choked on his fizzy drink. "What.." he hiccuped. "..about us?"

Jonouchi leaned in closer with a smirk on his face. "You don't have to pretend. I know you two have moved beyond the just friends phase." He winked. "If ya get my drift."

Cheeks flushing, Yugi blanched. "We're friends!" Looking at Jonouchi's face, he knew he wasn't getting off the hook that easily. "Please don't say anything to anyone. Not yet. Not until after we graduate."

Jonouchi grinned triumphantly, banging the table with his palm. "I knew I was right!" he crowed. "How long have you two been.. ya know, serious?"

Yugi grimaced. "Not long. Recently," he said, trying not to blush.

"Ya could have told me," Jonouchi added, sounding upset that Yugi had not told him.

Yugi sighed apologetically. "Sorry. If it's any consolation, we haven't told anyone – not even Grandpa."

"Nah.. don't apologise. Just winding you up! I can understand why you're keeping it quiet. If the Wicked Witch of Expel finds out you and Anzu are an item you're both doomed." Jonouchi's words were not very comforting and Yugi felt himself internally shudder. Jonouchi was right, if Miss Chono found out they were in a romantic relationship, out of spite, she would try and stop them from finishing their exams. If successful in her vendetta, they would not get to graduate, and Anzu would lose the opportunity to study in New York. Even if they appealed to the board of governors and were successful, they would still suffer some repercussions.

"Thanks for reminding me." Frowning, he let out a huff. "Anzu's dad already hates me. He'll hate me forever if I get her expelled," he said miserably.

Jonouchi snorted. "You wont get expelled –Chono doesn't have that much power since she turned down the vice principal's sexual advances." He snickered.

"I guess." Yugi was sceptical. "I'm still not taking any chances. As far as everyone is concerned, Anzu and I are just friends."

"And don't let Anzu's dad get ya down either," said Jonouchi. "He'll come round when he realises what a great guy you are, Yug!"

Yugi was not convinced. "Thanks, Jonouchi. But, unfortunately it's not you I have to impress. Anzu's father thinks she should be concentrating on her education, not dating a boy he thinks is a loser," he said, looking a little downcast.

Jonouchi was perplexed by Mister Mazaki's perception of Yugi. "You're not a loser, Yugi! You're the King of Games! That has to mean something, right?!"

"Not to him it doesn't," said Yugi, shaking his head.

"Yeah, well, you and Anzu are old enough to date whoever you like so he can't stop you seeing each other." Having said his piece, Jonouchi downed the rest of his canned coffee.

Yugi was keen to change the subject. "Talking of dating … have you heard anything from Mai?" he asked tentatively.

Scowling, Jonouchi shook his head. "Pfft…! That woman will be the death of me," he said scornfully. "Made me think I had a chance with her and then ran off coz she's afraid of her feelings." He was more upset than he let on.

"I'm sure she'll come back when she's ready," said Yugi, trying to give his friend some hope. Anzu had told him, in the strictest of confidence, that Mai left because she did not want to be accused of seducing a teenage boy who was still in high school. She was currently dueling on the European circuit. But she did occasionally get in touch with Anzu, and whenever she did she always asked after Jonouchi.

"D'ya know where she is?" asked Jonouchi hopefully. Blushing, Yugi shook his head and sucked up the rest of his drink. Jonouchi narrowed his eyes. "You do know, don't you?"

Pulling a face, Yugi cringed. "I'm not supposed to say anything. But she did tell Anzu she likes you. She's just afraid of her feelings."

"I thought it was something like that," said Jonouchi, nodding. "But don't stress, I'm not gonna give you a hard time. If you can't say, that's fine."

"Thanks," said Yugi, feeling relieved. If pushed, he would have caved. "Just… don't give up on her completely –that's all I can really tell you."

Sighing, Jonouchi nodded. "I guess I'll just have to accept that, for now."

Yugi looked at his watch. "I should probably be getting home." He had told Grandpa he would be home by now.

"Yeah, me, too," said Jonouchi. It would be a long walk home, but he had a lot to mull over so he did not mind.

::::::::::::

Having eaten dinner, showered and changed into his pyjamas, Yugi lay on his bed and called Anzu on his phone.

"How was dance class?" he asked. She told him it was good and then asked him what he did after school?

"I went to the arcade with Jonouchi," he told her. He paused, biting his lip before continuing, "He knows... about us." She would find out at school tomorrow anyway, so he might as well tell her now. He heard her huffing in annoyance.

"What?! You told him! Why?!"

"I didn't tell him! He guessed! I couldn't lie and say he was wrong, could I?" he said defensively.

He heard her deflate. "I suppose not." She sighed. "Everyone's gonna know now. We'll be expelled. My dad will be furious."

"Don't be silly. That's not gonna happen. Jonouchi promised me he won't say anything."

"Pfft! Like that means anything! Don't get me wrong, I love him to bits, but he's a blabbermouth. He can't help it, it's just the way he is."

"Stop over reacting," Yugi said firmly. "He's not like he used to be; he's grown up a lot and is more responsible. He's also our friend. We can trust him." He had a calm, assertive, reassuring quality to his voice and it made Anzu feel a little less anxious.

"Okay. But if he breathes one word to anyone, I'll make sure he'll never father any children!"

"Ouch!" The thought almost brought to Yugi's eyes. "That's a bit harsh," he said, chuckling to make light of it. Realising how cruel she had sounded, Anzu also laughed.

"It needs to be a big enough threat to deter him," she said. "I wouldn't actually castrate him, however tempting it may be!" Yugi knew she was joking, but...

"Remind me not to upset you," he teased, making her giggle.

"You're safe," she said. "I'm going to need you to father my children one day." Realising what she had just said, she gasped. "I didn't just say that."

If only she could see the huge smile on Yugi's face! "Yes you did! I heard you and you can't take it back," he teased. "Seriously though, I'm honoured. I can't wait." He felt a rush of love for her and it went straight to his libido.

"Well, you might have to wait a few years. At least until we're married and ready," she told him matter of fact. Too busy dreaming of miniature Anzu's and Yugi's running around, Yugi was barely listening.

"Yeah…." he said dreamily. "I love you, Anzu." He would marry her tomorrow if he could.

"I love you too, Yugi," she cooed back. But then let out a long yawn. "I'm soooo… tired. I should probably get some sleep. I wish you could be my pillow."

"I would probably keep you awake," he teased, with a light chuckle.

"School finishes early tomorrow," she reminded him. "Both my parents should be at work… hopefully. So we could come back here, for some more… studying!"

"I'll get my pencil sharpened," he said saucily. Anzu had never heard him talk so suggestively before and she liked it.

"Yugi!" she exclaimed, pretending to be horrified. But she was giggling, which gave her away.

"Maybe I can help you sharpen it," she teased. If only she could see how much he was blushing, or the erection he was now sporting.

"And… on that note, we should probably end the call, before the conversation gets any worse," she said.

Yugi was disappointed that she did not want to take this a bit further. He had never had phone sex before and all that suggestive talk had sent a rush of blood to his libido, which was now in need of some attention.

"Yeah, okay. I'll er… see you in the morning," he said, sounding distracted.

"Goodnight Yugi." Anzu blew a kiss down the line to her flustered boyfriend and they hung up.

Missing her voice already, Yugi turned his phone off, placed it on the bedside table and then reached for the box of tissues so that he could take care of his throbbing erection, that had no intention of going away on its own.

A bit of smut to finish. I hope you enjoyed.

Until next time.
