They both groaned. Why couldn't anything in Harry potter's life be simple? "What do you mean. Please explain it to us, we saw a glow when we err…kissed, but we have no idea what it means." Hershey gave a simple nod but ushered them back down the hall. "First a proper meal, then talk." Dobby had popped to where the other elves gathered so he could learn where he was to be when not helping Harry Potter.
The two teens sat and ate the first real meal in a long time. They would have gotten sick, had it not been an easy stomach meal. The elves knew how hungry they really were and despite wanting to make them as full as possible, they knew it would take a few days to get to that point. So for now, they ate a soup heavy on broth and some bread and cheese. Portioning it out so they couldn't gorge themselves and vomit it all back up.
When Harry finished his bowl he asked if he could have more broth, and the elves happily obliged, knowing a little more broth wouldn't hurt the boy. Hermione had only asked for tea after, leaning forward to her elbows and sighing into the steaming cup. "For as simple as that meal was, I haven't felt so good in a long time. Maybe we can actually catch up on sleep too. Not having to be constantly on watch." Harry nodded in agreement and let his head fall into his hands for a moment to rub his face. "Excuse Hershey master Harry Potter sir. But you asked Hershey to explain." Both turned and looked at the elf, motioning him to sit with them. At first Hershey hesitated but the sharp look in Hermione's eyes quickly changed his mind and he climbed up to the seat. He knew those eyes, lady Potter had given him the same eyes when he didn't sit with the family either.

Hershey cleared his throat and let out a soft breath before looking both teens in the eyes. "Master and Mistress made a bond." He started looking at Hermione before she could ask questions, holding up his little hand. "When the Master and Mistress kissed, your souls touched. It is said in elf histories that when you find your other half, the souls touch and you glow."
"Can you explain what you mean by other half?" Harry asked softly, his cheeks a little pink. "It was said that sky god created life. That when he made humans they had four arms, legs and two heads. That he feared the power they had and tore them in two, tasking them to find their other half for all time. And when they do, their power was unmatched." Hershey did his best to speak as fluidly as possible. Lady Potter didn't spend all that time working with the elves for him to do her injustice now. "So, what you're saying…" Harry started. "Is we found our other half?" Hermione added looking up at Harry. "Yes." The elf said simply. "I thinks wizards call it soul mates. It happens so rarely we find our other half." Hershey looked to the side softly before eyeing Harry with a sad smile. "Your parents were too. But because of the war… their power was stunted." He clenched his face a little. "Not stunted…drained. When you were born, the power drained from both your mother and father to protect a child born from such a union. They's power was almost full again when snake attacked. They again used all their power to save you." Harry clenched his jaw, tears threatening to fall once again. "Yous father used his to hold snake back long enough for yous mom to get you upstairs. She had put carvings all over the room of strange pictures and lines. When yous father died, yous mom felt it inside. In her final moments she asked you to be spared, and when he refused she used the last of her life to power the pictures. She died but you lived."
"So wait… was I hit with the killing curse?"
"Hershey did not see, the light was too bright. She did however draw with her blood that on yous head." Harry touched his scar. "When the light faded your mom died. Not before, not with green light like Master James." Hermione looked closer at Harry's face and suddenly stood, the chair scratching the floor and she leaned over the table and took his face in her hands. She tilted his head to get a look at his scar. "Harry. I knew I recognized that symbol. Harry it's Sowilo. It's a Norse rune." Harry furrowed his brow. "Hermione I don't know what that means."
Harry was beginning to feel overwhelmed. "Harry. When you study ancient runes it's kind of a mash of all the types of runes that were from all different cultures. Nordic runes were used by vikings and such. It was the writing and ritual work for the Nordic people who believed in the Nordic gods. I would have to look at my books again. But I believe it represents the Norse god Balder or Sol. And if correct it's for power and vitality. Harry…your mom literally carved power into your very being. She gave you her power." Harry cried then. His mom had given her literal life and with that all the power he would need.
The power he knew not.
