(A/N managed to fix the format i think, it should reada but better now i hope. enjoy)

The four of them had brain stormed for a few hours more before the two Slytherins had to depart. A piece of parchment in hand. Knowing Slytherins locket was in fact a horcrux or was one previously, they figured that the other three house relics could be one, so the two would be looking for the Hufflepuff and ravenclaw ones.

Harry and Hermione were alone together once again. Their was a slightly awkward air between tho two. Unasked and unanswered questions raced through their minds. Hermione absently stirred her tea cup, it still full and unsipped. Harry on the other hand was on his third cup. He finally looked to her and sighed. "I think we need to discuss what just happened." Hermione hummed but didn't look up, instead finding a particular pattern in the wood fascinating. " About how you wouldn't have minded?" He promoted and her cheeks tinted a bit. "Well…Harry that's the thing. I wouldn't have. All those fights with Ron and the lessons I had to learn from them I slowly began to realize that this is a whole different culture. I had to do research and what I found was alarming. I was just starting to come around to certain things when Dumbledore died and we had to go on the run. I sat and talked with Molly before you arrived. While at first she bristled and didn't want to talk about things like that she eventually saw my point in needing to know. I think she forgets we weren't raised by wizards and expects us to know about taboo things in her mind." Harry nodded slowly. "She had used a love potion on arthur." Harry stood. "She what?!"
"Harry calm down. Let me explain." She waited until he sat again. Still a little red with anger. "She told me how she used one or two doses to gain his attention. He was an oblivious bloke as he is now." Hermione smiled and Harry calmed. "She warned both me and Ginny that a small simple dose just to gain attention was harmless. But never go above two or three at most. At that point if they don't notice you it wasn't meant to be. And to top it off if the wizard was from a high standing house and you were caught…it could be line theft and if a child should be consived this way… they.."
"Turn out like Tom…"
"Exactly. She didn't use those words but she said they become something else. Like a dementor in a way, they can have no true happiness, a soulless husk of flesh that walks the earth. Her mother warned her of the effects of love potions at a young age. There was even a time when they tried to outlaw it." Harry sat and rubbed his face with a groan. "So Arthur is fine?" Hermione nodded. Harry sighed again before taking another sip. "We both know Ron unless he's been playing us all these years, doesn't have the grades to make love potions. So where did they come from?" Hermione bit her lip in thought, a trait Harry found adorable.

"Well Ginny isn't a slouch. She was invited to the slug club after all." Hermione shivered a bit. Harry gave a curt nod, remembering the party he took Luna too. "It is possible she got some help and because slughorn assumed she only wanted to gain attention from a wizard…but wait no that timeline doesn't match up. You've started feeling for Ron fourth year. And I started noticing Ginny fifth. They had to have help before then." Hermione sighed. "They could have bought them. Or got help from the twins. They did know how to brew them after all. And if they didn't know what was going on they would have helped them. Thinking it all a prank. Could have used the excuse they were gonna make Malfoy fall for a troll or something."
Both teens sighed again. Trying to figure out the love potions wasn't a top priority at the moment. Harry got them back on track. "Anyway you were talking to Molly about wizarding culture?"
"What? Oh right yes. Once we got talking she opened up more about what she thought was outdated but is still very much part of the world. Betrothal contract, concubines, Covens, groves even multiple wives. At first I was distraught. Those things just don't happen in the muggle world hardly anymore. Yes betrothals still happen in India and such. But… it just seems so foreign. Then I got books and read. The more I read the more it upset me and made sense."

"You see Harry, the 'pureblood' dogma was because those lines were some of the very first to have magic. Their seem as the father's of magical society. And like the monarch family, you want it to stay alive as long as possible." Harry nodded. "But there is the issue of becoming inbred. And those types of relations create squibs. So the contracts are very articulate. They make it so both families can thrive and prevent inbreeding as best they can. Of course most of the darker families have stopped caring about inbreeding and only about political standing." Harry sighed. "So that's why Tom didn't like muggleborn and half loods?"
"No the opposite." Harry blinked. "What?"
"Harry it's quite simple. You get all of the pure blood families to breed with only each other, you create non magical family lines. You eradicate them. He went after the light families because they wouldn't follow him blindly in taking out wizard kind altogether. You take out the magic…"
"You get rid of potions…orphans with magic…people like Tom."
Hermione nodded.
"And that's why he targeted muggleborn. They introduce new blood for the family lines. Strengthen it." Hermione nodded again. "So Daphne's dad and my own we're trying to save not only Davis and Greengrass but Potter as well?"
"Right in one Harry."
Harry slumped into his chair. "I don't know Hermione. I'm with you. We're literally made for each other. How on earth would that work now? Not to mention we were both raised that you have only one partner." Hermione shrugged her shoulders. "That's why we need Daphne and probably Tracey's dad in the know. Even if you just took them under protection of house Potter that might be enough to save them."

Once their conversation took on lighter tones they stood and walked to the library once again. Now having a general idea of what they were looking for, they began to research the founders and what items they may have left behind. Godric along with the sword had a helmet, but it had been melted down to do major repairs of the sword one hundred years after he had died. It had somehow broke in an epic battle that cost the wizard his life at the end. Both had agreed the sword could not have been tainted, for it only took in what made it stronger, and it had been in Dumbledore's possession for a few years. Next they found besides the monster of Slytherin and his locket, he never had anything else of great value or importance. He had been a simple wizard and didn't lavish himself, preferring to stay busy with teaching. That had caught both by surprise. The monster had been created with full knowledge from the other three to protect the school, not harm it. That the original motto had been 'do not turn your back on the snake that bites.' to the now popular. 'do not tickle a sleeping dragon.'
"Slytherin wasn't evi?"

"Not according to this journal from then. Your ancestor knew Salazar personally, and trained under him. He was almost named the heir of the Slytherin line until Salazar had gotten a muggleborn pregnant. That muggle had been the founder of the faint line. And because they hadn't we'd. The child kept the gaunt name."
Harry let out a low whistle. "Damn. What happened?"
"I don't know. But according to this Salazar's house was originally the only house that accepted muggleborn….the other houses were very strict about who went where. Ravenclaw only took the wisest of the pure families. Those who could infante her house to the all knowing house. Hufflepuff took the blindly loyal. They never questioned when given tasks and orders from her and being masters of potions didn't hurt either... And Godric…" Hermione sighed and looked down before looking at Harry. "He only took those who would die for the greater good."
"So wait…you're telling me the whole Slytherin was evil was pure fabrication?!" Harry shouted, looking down rage filling his face. "Yes Harry. When Salazar finally snapped at the other three about being biased on who was taught. They took battle. But with three against one…"
"He failed."
"Yes. The Potter, Gaunt, Greengrass and Davis lines took the man and buried him..."
"Where Hermione? Does it say?"
"Here Harry. He's in the family plot out back."

Harry had stood and walked briskly to the window over looking the back gardens. "Then why weren't my parents buried here?"
"I couldn't tell you that Harry. I wish I could. And I know this is a lot to absorb but we need to keep looking. This is a lot of information that can come to light at a later time. Our first priority is making sure you live through this." Harry scoffed and returned to his seat, arms folded and a scowl deep on his face. "You're just as important." He mumbled but Hermione chose to ignore him. Flipping more pages. "Helga had three items. Her potions cup, that doubled the strength of any potion in it, she had a knife that's cuts could not be healed by magic in time. The more you tried to heal the worse the cut got. And finally her potioniers sash." Harry shivered. "Why would a puff need that deadly of a knife?"
"Harry they weren't the puffs claws and snakes we know now remember?" Harry sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck. Ok well what about ravenclaw?" Hermione flipped a few pages reading quickly. "I only see one thing. It was a diadem."
"A what"
"A diadem. It's like a tiara." Harry made an oh with his mouth again. "The wearer gains all the knowledge of the house. It was meant to stay in her line only. But after her daughter was bequeathed it. It vanished."
"Oh that's great. So I highly doubt Tom got that one then."
"I would be so sure. All of these items were suppose to be impossible to find or just handle. So unless he was headmaster there would have been no way to just get them. But he got Slytherins locket." Harry grumped again slamming his head on the table. "So now what?"
