Jinx found herself in the middle of the vast ocean, battling against violent waves. Darkness stretched as far as her eyes could see, and she was alone. From the depths beneath her, a large dark figure materialized, with four menacing red eyes fixed upon her. Its hand wrapped tightly around her foot, violently pulling her down. Panic surged as she gasped for air, her struggles becoming increasingly desperate.
Just as she was about to die, she abruptly woke up in her room—a cozy apartment in Jump City, decorated with her signature pink and black style.
As an honorary Titan, she had embraced a new life as an anti-hero. However, these haunting dreams had plagued her for the past week.
Frustrated and determined to find answers, she decided to open one of her old magic books and started studying about recurrent dreams. To her surprise, she discovered that this dream was somehow connected to someone she knew—Raven, one of the original Titans.
"Hmm," Jinx made a curious sound as her mind filled with questions. "So this is about the dark bird? How curious."
Intrigued by the connection between her dreams and Raven, Jinx's curiosity grew, prompting her to delve deeper into understanding the significance behind the recurring dream and its connection to her fellow Titan
"Time to vist my new friends" she said, closing her book.
The Titans were out enjoying a casual day, planning to grab some pizza when they spotted Jinx seated in their usual spot. The reflex of engaging in battle was no longer their immediate response. They had grown to trust the former villainess, though some reservations remained.
As Jinx saw her fellow Titans approaching, she greeted them with a friendly smile. "Hey, guys. Mind if I join you?"
Cyborg raised an eyebrow, but Robin spoke up, displaying his newfound trust. "Sure, Jinx. Pull up a seat. We were just about to order."
Jinx's presence didn't seem to faze the other Titans anymore. Beast Boy even offered her a slice of pizza, which she gladly accepted.
They all chatted casually, laughing about how Jinx discovered Starfire's weird taste in pizzas. Jinx tried to act like she was just bonding with the team, but every now and then, she found herself staring at Raven.
"So, Rae, are you always this serious?" Jinx asked, her mischievous gaze fixed on the young half-demon. Raven raised an elegant eyebrow, seemingly caught off guard by the question, her piercing violet eyes momentarily widening in surprise.
"I think so," Raven answered, her tone remaining composed. She was known for her stoic demeanor, carefully guarding her emotions behind a veil of calmness.
"Hmm," Jinx hummed casually, feigning nonchalance as she reached for a slice hot pizza. She took a playful bite, savoring the flavors while maintaining eye contact with Raven. "I would've thought a half-demon would be a little more...you know, fun."
As the word 'demon' slipped past Jinx's lips, the atmosphere at the table shifted palpably. The air seemed to grow heavy, and the jovial chatter of the other companions quieted, their attention now directed towards Raven. Each person felt a twinge of unease, a collective awareness of the volatile nature of her demonic heritage.
"Excuse me?" Raven's voice cut through the tense silence, her tone remarkably calm yet laced with an undercurrent of suppressed anger. Her slender fingers instinctively curled around the edge of the table, her gaze piercing through Jinx like a blade.
"Yeah... fun, I don't know," Jinx replied, seemingly oblivious to the weight of her words. Beast Boy attempted to change the subject, but Jinx persisted, undeterred. "I mean, your father is like the most badass evil creature in the universe."
The words hung in the air, causing everyone at the table to look at Jinx in a mix of surprise and concern. Raven felt a jolt of shock shoot through her, her usually composed facade momentarily shattered.
"What?" Jinx asked, feigning innocence, although her voice quivered slightly. "Did I say something wrong?"
Raven took a deep breath, gathering herself and regaining her composure. She wanted to maintain control over her emotions and not let Jinx's words affect her.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Raven responded, her voice calm and measured.
Jinx leaned forward, her mischievous smile widening. "Which part? The demon part? Or the fun part?" she teased, clearly pushing the boundaries. Raven's nervousness grew, her instincts warning her to tread carefully.
"Oh!" Jinx suddenly exclaimed, as if struck by a revelation. "It was a secret?" She playfully placed a hand over her mouth, pretending to be surprised.
Raven carefully chose her words, her voice calm yet tinged with a hint of firmness. "My father is not a matter that you should be concerned about, nor is my personality."
Jinx paused for a moment, seemingly unaffected by Raven's response. She took another bite of her pizza before speaking again, her tone nonchalant. "You know, Rae? It's kinda become my matter, since your stupid father has been appearing in my dreams for over a week now."
Raven's eyes widened in surprise, and a wave of shock rippled through the rest of the group. They exchanged glances, unable to fully grasp the implications of Jinx's revelation. Raven's usually composed demeanor faltered for a moment as she tried to process Jinx's unexpected connection to her father.
Still chewing her pizza, Jinx maintained a casual demeanor despite the bombshell she had just dropped, seemingly unfazed by the tension in the table.
Raven's face contorted with a mix of offense, embarrassment, and a flicker of aggression as she swiftly rose from her seat, her eyes locking onto Jinx. The room filled with motr tension as her friends watched, unsure of how the situation would unfold.
"Relax, Rae," Jinx said, mirroring Raven's movements and rising to her feet as well. "I've known you're a demon since the day we met."
Raven's jaw tightened, and a hint of a sinister edge crept into her voice. "Watch your words, Jinx," she warned, her tone laced with a touch of dark allure.
Jinx, held her ground and shifted her smile to a serious expression. "I was a thief and a troublemaker before, but when it comes to dark magic, I've preferred to keep my mouth shut. However..." She paused, her demeanor growing solemn. "I've dreamt of Trigon."
Raven's eyes widened, a mix of surprise and apprehension flashing across her face. Her friends exchanged uneasy glances, realizing the gravity of Jinx's words.
Back at the tower, the other Titans felt a sense of relief that Raven hadn't resorted to violence against Jinx. They gave the girls some space and allowed them to continue their conversation privately. Raven, still carrying a tinge of offense, led the way towards her room, with Jinx walking beside her.
"You could have just told me without making it a scene," Raven grumbled, her voice tinged with annoyance.
Jinx grinned mischievously, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Oh, come on! You should have seen your face. It was priceless."
Raven opened the door to her room and motioned for Jinx to enter. "Just so you know, not just anyone is allowed in my room. Consider this an exception. Don't think we're suddenly becoming friends."
Jinx chuckled playfully. "Aw, just when I thought you were my soul mate." She let out a mock-sigh before continuing, "But seriously, Dark Baby, I really want these nightmares to stop."
They stepped into the room, and Raven wasted no time in preparing for a ritual. She began drawing a symbol on the floor using a red powder, her movements precise and deliberate.
"Why do you think it's my father?" Raven inquired, her voice filled with a mixture of curiosity and concern. "Couldn't it just be a regular nightmare?"
Jinx leaned against the wall, contemplating Raven's question. "Oh no, I thought about that the first few times. But these last two nightmares, the four eyes were there. He was Trigon, I know it for sure. He didn't speak, but somehow I could hear his voice echoing in my head, like a... recurrent evil whisper," she confirmed.
Raven finished drawing the symbol on the floor and strategically placed candles around it, casting an eerie glow in the room. The preparations were in place, and now they could begin the ritual in hopes of finding answers and putting an end to the haunting nightmares.
As they sat facing each other, their legs crossed, an air of fear croosed Raven´s head. The realization that there was a slight chance Raven might have to face her father, Trigon, caused her breathing to quicken. Jinx keenly observed Raven's nervousness, finding it oddly endearing. She had always perceived Raven as this mysterious, serious, and always prepared individual.
"Hey, Raven? Are you okay?" Jinx inquired, a playful glimmer in her eyes, not quite believing that Raven could be experiencing fear. "Are you afraid?" she asked, her tone laced with amusement.
Raven attempted to brush off Jinx's question, her voice feigning confidence. "Of course not," she replied, but deep down, she couldn't deny the fear that gnawed at her core.
Jinx leaned in closer, her expression a mix of mischief and curiosity. "Hey, maybe it's not your father. Maybe he is, but I just want to start sleeping MY usual nightmares," she suggested.
As Raven and Jinx immersed themselves in meditation, their eyes closed, they focused on relaxation and entering a deep trance. Raven began the incantation, her voice steady and measured, as she chanted, "Somnia ad me veniant, In somniorum regnum me deducant, Per astra et umbras, In somnorum abyssum immergant." The words reverberated in the room, filling the space with an ethereal energy.
But just as they were about to descend further into the dream realm, Jinx's doubts began to creep in. The sensation of the ground lifting beneath her, the feeling of being suspended in mid-air, startled her. Panic welled up inside her, and she quickly voiced her reservations.
"Okay, no, no, forget it," Jinx spoke, her voice filled with trepidation. "Sorry, I made fun of you, Rae. I don't like this. Make it stop."
Raven, sensing Jinx's distress, reached out and held her hand, offering comfort and reassurance. "Just keep calm," she urged, her voice soothing. "Focus on your nightmare. Let it come to the surface."
Jinx took a deep breath, summoning her courage, and began to recall the details of her recurring nightmare. The dark, tumultuous waves of an ocean, the desperate struggle for breath, the menacing presence of a creature lurking in the depths—all these elements came flooding back to her.
As Raven delved deeper into the dream, the malevolence Jinx had described became palpable. The suffocating darkness enveloped her senses, and she could feel an insidious presence lurking within the depths. But as the nightmare intensified, Raven's discomfort grew more pronounced, manifesting as a searing pain in her forehead that threatened to consume her.
Meanwhile, Jinx, overwhelmed by the vividness of the nightmare, opened her eyes only to find herself plunging into the dark waters of the ocean. Panic set in as the water engulfed her, its realism feeling all too tangible. "Too real, too real," she repeated frantically, struggling to stay afloat.
Despite her own pain and disorientation, Raven recognized Jinx's desperate situation. Ignoring her own discomfort, she reached out and grasped Jinx. With a surge of strength, Raven fought against the turbulent waters, using her abilities to create a protective barrier around them, shielding them from the nightmare's onslaught.
Standing on the false floor created by Raven's powers, both Raven and Jinx were trying to catch their breath after the harrowing ordeal. Jinx, still filled with anger, confronted Raven about her unexpected actions.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Jinx exclaimed, her voice laced with frustration. "I thought you were just going to stop the nightmare, not send us to it!"
Raven winced, the pain in her forehead intensifying as she fell to her knees, clutching her head. It felt as if her skull were being split in half. Despite the agony, she refused to give in, determined to find the answers they sought. With blood trickling from her nose, Raven wiped it away, her gaze fixed on the crimson stain.
"This is not supposed to happen," Raven spoke, her voice strained. "In a dream spell, you're not supposed to bleed."
Her words carried a mixture of confusion and concern.
Jinx, genuinely concerned for Raven's well-being, helped her stand up, She could see Raven's attempts to downplay her pain and discomfort.
"Hey, Rae, let's go. This isn't good," Jinx urged, her voice filled with genuine worry.
Raven insisted, "I am fine," but her words were belied by the blood still trickling from her nose. She tried to brush off her condition, but Jinx saw through the facade.
"Yeah, right," Jinx responded, her tone laced with skepticism. "You're clearly in pain, aren't you?"
Raven hesitated for a moment, realizing that she couldn't hide the truth from Jinx any longer. Taking a deep breath "Yes, but it doesnt matther. This presence... it's my father. Somehow, he has infiltrated your mind."
Jinx shrugged her shoulders in a helpless gesture. "I don't know how or why he's here in my head,"
"there has to be a reason"
Raven's piercing gaze remained fixed on the pink-haired witch, her determination overshadowing the pain that coursed through her. With a furrowed brow, she ask, "How exactly do you know my father?" Jinx scrunched up her face, attempting to recall the details.
"Trigon? Uh, um... I don't know, like I said... I just knew," Jinx stammered, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
"No, you... you told me... you knew I was a half-demon since the day we met," Raven interjected, her mind racing as she started piecing together the fragments of the puzzle. She could sense that they had fallen into a trap. "But when did you find out who my father was? How do you know his name?"
As Raven posed her questions, the ocean's waves seemed to grow more turbulent, as if they were aware of the gravity of her questions. The surges intensified, stirring up towering tsunamis in every direction.
"Who told you his name?" Raven demanded, raising her voice above the roaring tempest. Jinx struggled to recollect, a strange sensation overtaking her as her eyes remained fixed on Raven's penetrating stare.
"I... I don't know..."
"FUCK!" Raven cursed vehemently, her frustration palpable. Jinx's eyes widened with fear, realizing that Raven's profanity signified something truly grave and serious. The tempestuous ocean mirrored Raven's emotions, unleashing its fury in a symphony of raging waves.
With a firm grip on Jinx's waist, the half-demon soared higher into the tumultuous sky, desperately evading the wrathful waters below. The atmosphere crackled with electricity, and the distant rumblings of an impending storm filled the air. Raven skillfully maneuvered around bolts of lightning, her instincts guiding her through the chaotic tempest.
"What the heck is happening?" Jinx shouted, her voice strained as she clung tightly to Raven, determined not to lose her grip.
"My father is desperate to come back," Raven replied, her voice carrying a sense of urgency. "He took advantage of you. We need to escape from here, Jinx. Listen to me. This... this is your nightmare. I need you to create some solid ground."
Jinx's eyes widened in disbelief and confusion. "What? How?"
"Focus," Raven commanded, her voice filled with determination. "It's your mind, your dream. I need you to visualize land, so I can create a portal to take us back to the tower."
As Raven's words echoed in Jinx's mind, she closed her eyes and concentrated with all her might. A surge of energy coursed through her vein, Slowly, beneath their feet, a patch of solid ground materialized, offering a brief respite from the churning sea.
Raven wasted no time, her eyes narrowing with determination. Taking advantage of the land, she swiftly formed the same symbol in the damp ground, her fingers tracing its intricate lines with a sense of urgency. As the symbol took shape, Raven's senses heightened, and she could hear Jinx's fierce battle against a dark shadow hand emerging from the murky waters.
The pink energy crackled and surged, causing the malevolent appendage to recoil momentarily. "Go to the hell you're supposed to be!" Jinx's voice echoed with defiance, her words laced with a mix of anger and desperation. Her wild, vibrant hair stood on end as a terrifying, colossal shadow materialized before her—a monstrous form with a snarling mouth that emanated a bone-chilling growl.
Reacting swiftly, Raven launched herself into action, her body moving fluidly to shield Jinx from the approaching dark claw. With a burst of power, she conjured her own ethereal shield, interposing herself between Jinx and the impending danger. The force of the attack rattled Raven's defense, but she held firm, determination etched across her face.
"Go to the circle now!" Raven's voice commanded, resolute and urgent. struggling valiantly against the terrifying nightmare monster that towered over her. Jinx hesitated, her expression of uncertainty, but Raven locked eyes with her, silently conveying the urgency of the situation.
"NOW! GO NOW!... Somnia discede, E regno somniorum egredere, Per portas lucis, Ad veritatem et realitatem redeas!" Raven's voice reverberated through the chaos. The symbol behind them began to emit a soft, pulsating glow.
With gritted teeth, she valiantly resisted the overwhelming force, pouring her energy into upholding the defense. "Go! I'll find another way, just don't step out of that circle!" Raven's voice rang out, determined yet tinged with a touch of desperation.
But Jinx, despite now being a Titan herself, wasn't one to follow orders blindly. Her rebellious spirit ignited within her, fueled by the adrenaline coursing through her veins. Channeling every ounce of her energy, she summoned a dazzling surge of pink lightning, aimed directly at the beast's eyes. The blinding electric display momentarily disoriented the creature, causing it to stagger back, its roars muffled in pain.
They sprinted towards the symbol, the passage of time seemingly slowing down. Jinx led the way, with Raven closely following behind. In a brief moment, Raven's gaze turned towards the beast, and a profound connection was established. For a fleeting second, she caught a glimpse of HIM—the figure of her father amidst the chaotic scene. A smile adorned his face, reaching out to her.
Suddenly, darkness enveloped them. When their eyes finally reopened, they found themselves in Raven's room. The remaining Titans anxiously surrounded them, their expressions filled with concern.
"What happened?" Cyborg asked urgently as soon as he saw the girls opening their eyes, realizing they were lying unconscious on the floor.
"You both were screaming in terrible agony," Starfire expressed her deep concern, gently cradling Raven's head as she sat beside her.
Jinx, fueled by anger, stood up and pointed an accusatory finger. "Ask Goth girl here! She sent us straight to fucking hell!"
Raven, rising to her feet, raised her voice in defense. "I did nothing. You allowed my father to enter your mind. How did you even know his name?"
Jinx retorted with frustration, "How should I know how I know?"
Raven's tone grew increasingly menacing, her eyes locked in a fierce gaze with Jinx's. "Do you work for him? DO YOU?" Her words echoed with a chilling intensity, causing Jinx to feel caught off guard and deeply offended.
Their stares carried an undercurrent of mutual hatred. However, just as Jinx was about to respond, her gaze softened as she noticed a trail of blood on Raven's nose, still streaming down her memory of Raven saving her life mere moments ago flooded Jinx's mind, causing her voice to soften. "...I honestly don't know, Rae. I'll admit I haven't always been the most honest person, but when it comes to dark magic, I swear..."
Raven cut her off, finishing the sentence, and as an empath, she sensed the truth in Jinx's words. "You keep your mouth shut," Raven concluded, her guard gradually lowering. With an understanding gaze, she continued, "I believe you."
Robin stepped forward, breaking the tense silence. "Any chance you could fill us in?" he inquired, his gaze shifting between the girls. As they exchanged glances, anticipation filled the air.
"So... he's alive? After all these years?" Beast Boy interjected, his voice filled with a mix of shock and disbelief, as they absorbed the explanation shared in the living room of the tower. "You killed him, didn't you?" he questioned, his eyes locked on Raven, who kept her gaze fixed on the floor.
"That's what I thought. He hasn't shown up since that day. But... I don't know, something about him felt so real," Raven responded, her voice tinged with uncertainty. Frustration welled up inside her as she stood up, bringing her hands to her face, her words tinged with fear. "I don't know... I just don't know."
