Beacon Academy Cliff.
The air blew against Kyle as he sped over the treetops of Emerald Forest.
As he continued falling, he saw a large tree branch sticking out. Kyle pressed the button on his lance, and it quickly transformed into a whip.
He threw his wrist to the whip as it wrapped around the open branch and swung himself underneath.
"Not done yet," he thought.
Kyle quickly spied a second branch and did the same before flying towards a tree.
He pressed the button again to turn his whip back into a lance. He stabbed the tree bark just as it finished.
"That was close..." Kyle said aloud as he hung several feet from the ground.
Cole had been catapulted first as he began his descent rather quickly.
He tried to remember what his father had left behind... something echoed in his mind.
He had been so young when it had happened. He hardly remembered.
What...what did he say?
"Use that head of yours," his father said.
"Use it" his father's voice went on. "You're just as smart as your brother
Yes, he had to adapt or die.
"But how?" Cole thought.
He dived lower as he continued speeding toward the tree line using the weight of his axe.
"Wait for it Cole..." he thought.
He came across a patch of taller trees.
"Almost there"
He then spotted an opening of larger trees.
"Wait..."
He spotted a tall tree that was in the open.
"Now!" He yelled as he spun himself around with his weapon and fell onto the trunk of the tree.
The ax-head dug in deep as it ground down the side of the bark and he slid down the tree.
He pulled himself up against the handle and swung onto the nearest tree branch.
"That...was fun" Cole said smiling to himself.
As he sat catching his breath, he heard a loud noise from above.
He looked up and saw a person helplessly flailing their arms in the sky as they flew by.
"What the...?" Cole asked himself as he looked up. "Is that...Jaune!?"
Further away, Kyle began trekking through the woods in search of a partner.
"What! You want some, too?!" he heard someone yell.
A girl's voice. She was angry.
It was followed by what was a fury of gunshots and yelling.
"I must be quick!" Kyle told himself.
He sprinted through the trees as he followed the sounds of fighting.
He suddenly paused as a massive black object appeared to the right in his peripheral vision.
A Grimm was charging him at full force, giving him barely time to react.
The Ursa appeared, swiftly swinging its claws at Kyle as he ducked underneath its reach at the last second.
The creature gave a heated roar before it tripped over itself from the near-miss.
Kyle quickly spun around as he tried to decide what he would do next.
"Fight or Run?" he thought to himself.
The Ursa swung again, but this time Kyle blocked it with his lance.
He continued blocking slowly and steadily as it swiped its claws angrily in his direction.
Finally, he saw his chance when it raised both its arms up.
He fell to the ground and thrust just like it as it pierced the Grimm's chest.
It growled one last time before evaporating.
Kyle sighed before remembering why he had fought the Grimm.
"The voice!" he thought.
He quickly continued running in the direction from before until he came to the clearing.
The person was gone.
There was nothing around but empty shotgun shells.
Kyle sniffed his nose as it picked up the familiar scent of burning wood.
Something was...burning.
"A...Fire" Kyle realized.
Elsewhere, Cole hopped out of the tree and began running towards the fire.
He soon came to a clearing and saw trees ablaze.
Cole spotted two girls that looked strangely familiar.
"We have to go!" Weiss yelled.
He turned to see her and Ruby running into the woods from the flames of Grimm.
"Hey! Wait!" Cole called after them.
The Beowolves stopped looking at the girls and turned towards him.
"Damn...!" Cole thought.
He looked around and counted the numerous enemies in his presence.
Cole backed away but three Beowolves had snuck up behind him.
He was trapped.
"This is it then..." he thought to himself.
A Beowolf snarled as it prepared to pounce at a moment's notice.
The pack started slowly before they took off running at him.
"Guess I'll take a few Grimm with me before I go.." he thought to himself gripping the handle of his axe.
"HYAH!" screamed Kyle leaping from the tree line.
His lance pierced a Beowolf just as Cole had cut down his first foe.
"Wha...KYLE!? Cole screamed in shock. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?
"Saving you" his brother replied.
"Save me?" Cole asked, "You're going to die too...you idiot!"
Kyle threw his whip around the nearest Beowolf as it leaped at both of them.
He tugged it away and fell back down.
Cole quickly cut it down with his ax as it hit the ground.
A dozen more Beowolves encircled the two as they prepared to fight them off...to the death.
The brothers soon saw a gap between them and the line of Grimm.
"Let's make a run for it!" Cole yelled.
"Agreed!" Kyle answered.
The two brothers began sprinting as they ran away from the clearing, avoiding fire and Beowolves along the way.
They ran until no enemies were in sight, and they were breathless.
"I don't... think.. we... were followed.." Cole wheezed gasping for air.
"What shall...we do now?" Kyle asked him.
"Look...I don't want to be on a team with you. You've...already saved my life, I can't... have you doing it constantly... I'm supposed ...to be improving and doing my best remember?" Cole reminded him as he struggled to breathe.
"I figured as much" Kyle replied.
"Why don't we...split up, and say we never met..." Cole suggested catching his breath. "That sound like a good plan?"
"Fine..."
"It'll be for the best..." Cole said picking his weapon back up.
"Good luck" Kyle called after him as he began walking off.
"I won't need it" Cole called back.
The two of them went their separate ways as they continued onwards.
Cole walked a while before hearing gunfire and booming noises not too far from him.
He ran towards the commotion with high hopes.
Soon he saw a student that was in the middle of a battle with the biggest Grimm he had ever seen.
Something straight out of a nightmare.
Cole quickly ducked behind a tree as he watched on.
No amount of training had prepared him for THIS.
"What is that thing!?" Cole screamed internally.
The giant serpent struggled to stay alive as the brave initiate fought him effortlessly.
He had a ponytail and green tailcoat and was using a rather interesting set of weapons to fight the humongous beast.
Cole watched in awe as he ran up the Grimm doing flips and firing his twin pistols.
He gasped as the giant serpent grew two heads in its struggle to kill him.
Before long, the Grimm was defeated and the victor stood over its body.
Cole ran over towards him in anticipation.
"Some fight!" Cole yelled gleefully as the student turned around.
"Halt," he said raising his guns. They had long blades pointing down at the front, and Cole didn't feel like brawling it out with this guy.
He rose his hands up off his ax.
"Are you alone?" the student asked.
"I'm alone...who are you with?" Cole asked taking small steps backward.
"As am I..." he answered. "Who are you...?"
"Cole Voltio" Cole replied "And you?"
The student suddenly lowered his guns and became less tense.
He holstered his weapons on his sides and looked up.
"My name is Lie ren...but you may call me Ren," he said
"Nice to meet you Re-" Cole began offering his hand.
Suddenly there was a rustling in the tree next to them as Cole quickly raised his Battle Axe.
A loud animal-like squawking noise followed until a person appeared upside down.
It was a girl.
"Thank goodness..." Cole thought to himself.
"I still don't think that's what a sloth sounds like," Ren told her.
"Boop!" She said touching him on the nose.
"Uhh...I suppose this makes us a group now guys?" Cole cleared his throat, interrupting their chat.
"I suppose so..." Ren answered eyeing him suspiciously. "And you haven't run into anyone else?"
"Of course not..." Cole remarked. "I wouldn't be here if I was, would I?"
"Relax Ren, he seems okay," said the girl.
"And who might you be?" Cole asked the female hanging beside him.
The girl was still upside down as she gasped before turning to him "Haven't you heard?"
Ren only rolled his eyes as he turned away.
She did a flip out of the tree and onto the ground.
Her bright orange hair and pink outfit were the first things that stood out to Cole. As she stood up, he couldn't help but notice they were almost the same height. She had bright turquoise eyes and pale white skin.
"The names Nora Valkyrie!" she boomed saluting.
Nora stuck out her hand and smiled.
"Uh...well it's nice to meet you Nora" Cole cringed as they both shook hands.
"Wow...NICE AXE!" she hollered.
"Thanks, your hammer's pretty cool too" Cole replied as his ears rang.
Cole turned to meet eyes with Ren before looking down at his two pistols.
"Nice uh...sickle blades," He said. "I saw you take out that giant snake thing...it was pretty epic"
"StormFlower's never let him down!" Nora exclaimed.
"Perhaps we should get moving before more trouble shows up," Ren told them.
"YEAH!" Nora shouted squeezing them both.
"Quietly..." he added glaring at Nora.
Several miles off, Kyle gazed at the forest temple as he made his descent towards the structure.
He had to be cautious, there was no telling what awaited him.
He figured everyone else who had been on the launch pads was either lost, dead, or hiding.
But not him, he knew his objective.
And it lay in front of him.
"Now, I just have to find a...partner," Kyle thought drastically.
As he came close he was going to look around until a voice stopped him.
"HEY...YOU!" yelled a girl's voice.
He looked over and saw the blonde-haired student before walking over towards him.
His heart skipped a beat.
He lowered his lance and kept his eyes on her.
"Who are you?" She demanded.
"Kyle" he replied clearing his throat.
Soon, a second girl appeared as she silently leaped down from a stone pillar.
"Name's Yang Xiao Long...call me Yang," the blonde girl said. "This here's Blake"
Kyle met eyes with her. It was the bow girl from before.
"Hello..." Kyle said with a nervous smile.
Blake turned away and surveyed the surrounding temple.
"You alone?" Yang asked him.
"Uh, Y-yeah" Kyle replied. "Just been walking around by myself"
"That's hilarious," Yang replied.
A loud crashing noise came from behind them as the three quickly spun around.
Ruby had flown into a tree from the sky, and straight onto Jaune, who was also there.
"Did she just fall from the sky?" Blake asked.
Another crashing sound was heard as they looked to the trees to see an Ursa fall onto the ground, with a pale ginger girl on top of it.
"YEEHAW!" Nora cheered
"NEVER AGAIN!" Cole shrieked running out of the woods and collapsing on the ground.
"Nora! Please...Don't ever do that again" Ren said catching his breath.
"Aww... It's broken" Nora frowned sadly.
"Oh!" she ogled grabbing a golden chess piece from the temple.
"I'm the queen of the castle! I'm the queen of the castle!" She cheered as she placed it on her head.
"Nora!" Ren yelled calling her back.
"Coming, Ren!"
"Did that girl just ride in on an Ursa?" Blake asked bluntly.
"Uh, is she always like this?" Cole asked innocently as he got back up
Suddenly a terrifying screech is heard as a lone red-haired female student is seen bursting from the forest as she runs from a huge scorpion Grimm.
"She rode in on a Death Stalker" Yang replied grinning.
Kyle turned to meet eyes with his brother.
"KYLE?!" Cole yelled confused.
"Cole" Kyle answered.
"Jaune!"
"Pyrrha!"
"Ruby!"
"Yang!"
"NORA!" she yelled jumping into Ruby's hug.
Pyrrha was calling Jaune.
Jaune was calling Pyrrha.
Yang was calling Ruby.
Ruby was hugging Yang.
Nora was calling Nora.
"GAHH! CAN EVERYONE JUST CHILL OUT FOR TWO SECONDS BEFORE SOMETHING CRAZY HAPPENS AGAIN!? Yang shouted.
"Um... Yang?" Ruby said as she tapped her on the shoulder.
Suddenly a large winged creature appeared, and it was carrying something.
"How could you leave me?!" Weiss yelled angrily.
"Jump!" yelled Ruby.
"She's gonna fall," Blake said.
"She'll be fine" Ruby assured everyone.
"She's falling," Ren said.
Jaune stopped as he saw the perfect opportunity, he leaped out of the tree without a second thought.
"Just... dropping in?" he said with a smile.
"No...look out!" Cole shouted.
Weiss was speechless as she looked Jaune in the face until they both fall flat on the ground.
"My hero," she said unaffectionately.
"Oh...my back" Jaune moaned.
"Good effort" Cole said helping him up. "On your feet"
What was that thing?" Kyle said aloud.
"It's a Nevermore" Blake replied.
"Great! The gang's all here! Now we can die together!" Yang said rather happily.
"Not if I can help it!" Ruby replied.
They all charged as they helped the red-haired girl fight the Death Stalker.
Weiss created a row of ice spikes, blocking its field of view.
Ren fired his pistols at the beast from all sides, agitating it.
The group was pushed back to a gape of what used to be the remains of a bridge.
"Let's do this!" Nora yelled.
"Uh...I, can't make that jump" Jaune said.
"Me neither," Cole said as he realized they were trapped.
Nora gave the most innocent smile before raising her hammer.
"She...she wouldn't harm a fly" Cole thought to himself.
"No...no..no...no!" Jaune pleaded as Nora slammed her hammer down on the bridge, sending him and Cole flying across.
"Ahhhh!" Cole screamed as he felt his Battle-Axe fly out of his hands.
As Ren and the red-haired girl continued firing their weapons, the Death Stalker swung its stinger.
Nora fell back and accidentally knocked Blake off the bridge.
"BLAKE!" Kyle screamed running to the edge.
He was relieved as he saw her catch the edge of the cliff with the cleaver part of her weapon.
"Enough..." Kyle thought to himself. He ran forth and transformed his lance to his whip form and swung it around the Death Stalker's stinger.
It hissed at him while struggling to break free.
It continued taking attacks from all sides.
"It's tougher than it looks!" Blake yelled.
"Nora...do it!" Ren cried as he continued shooting.
"I got it!" she yelled
Nora leaped and brought her hammer before smashing it in the skull. It writhed in pain before sliding off the bridge.
The Death Stalker gave one final screech before falling to its death.
Near the forest temple, the battle continued against the winged beast.
Yang leaped at the Nevermore and forced its beak open.
"I! Hope! You're! Hung-ry!" She screamed firing her ammo into the Grimm's mouth.
"She's...incredible," Kyle thought as he watched her.
The Nevermore fell back and slammed into the cliff.
Blake fired her pistol as a band stretched across and Yang grabbed tying it tightly around the pillar.
"Of course, you would come up with this idea"
Weiss said with a grin.
"Think you can make the shot?" Ruby asked preparing to jump.
"Hmm..can I?" Weiss said giving a confident grin.
"Can't..you...?"
"OF COURSE I CAN!" Weiss snapped.
She launched Ruby just as the shot flew around from the chain of Blake's weapon.
Ruby fired shots out of her weapon as she came closer and closer to the cliff wall. She reached the Nevermore's height as her scythe caught around its neck.
Ruby continued firing her high-caliber sniper scythe as she dragged the Nevermore up the side of the cliff by the neck. Weiss had created white circles that allowed her to run vertically. She reached the top and gave a strong tug...slicing its head clean off, sending rose petals flying.
Cole looked on in awe as he felt his weapon suddenly get heavy in his hand.
"Well...that was a thing!" Yang said.
"Where were you the whole time?" Yang said smiling.
"Uh...sorry, have we met before?" Cole asked.
"Now we have!" She said before smiling devilishly.
"So, run into anything interesting on the way here?" Yang asked.
"Well, almost got killed but I managed to fight them off" Cole replied dusting himself off.
"Don't you mean WE?" Kyle interrupted.
"Funny...seeing you're the one who was here first," Cole said smugly.
"You two...MET?" Blake said raising an eye.
"No...not until now," Kyle said quickly in response.
"You said WE," Blake told him.
"The rule is the first person you meet is your partner!" Yang yelled.
"Whoops," Cole said.
"Alright, we did meet up... I saved Cole but he didn't want to be partners because we're already brothers"
"Isn't that a good thing?" Yang asked sarcastically.
"You would think," Kyle said smiling at the two girls.
"Well...guess it's just the two of us then," Cole said as he awkwardly walked towards Kyle.
"CHEATERS!" Nora said sticking her tongue out and marching away.
Everyone took a matching chess piece from the forest temple before leaving.
Beacon Academy.
"Congratulations, young man," Ozpin said looking at Jaune, the new leader of Team JNPR.
"And finally...Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long. The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY." Ozpin said pointing at them.
"Led by... Ruby Rose!" He finished.
The crowd applauded as the two new teams walked off stage.
Kyle sat among the crowd alone and was disappointed because of earlier.
"Hurry up and decide, because if not I'm giving your chess piece to another person" Cole said crossing his arms.
Kyle lowered his head and sighed.
Cole walked off to celebrate with the rest of the school.
"Mr. Voltio, correct?" a voice asked interrupting his train of thought.
Kyle looked up to see Glynda looking down at her scroll.
"Huh, oh yes. That's me" He answered quickly coming to attention.
"I'm aware that you and your brother are still without a team?" she asked him.
"Yes...that's correct," he told her feeling embarrassed.
"It says here you have had outstanding and proficient school grades," she remarked.
"Uh...yes, thank you," Kyle said softly.
"However, your brother does not have the best...it seems he has only excelled at physical education." she continued. "But he has done well enough to be enrolled here"
"No surprise there," he replied.
"I have just found another teammate for the two of you," Glynda told him confidently before closing the data on her scroll. "Follow me and I will introduce you to him"
"Yes, thank you," Kyle told her. "So...it's another guy?"
"Correct" she confirmed turning to leave.
He began to follow her as they both walked past crowds of people talking and enjoying themselves.
"Mr. Voltio, I need you to follow us" Glynda commanded pausing to see Cole.
"Aw, already?" He asked. "I was having fun!"
"This is important and needs to be taken care of," she told him.
"Let's finish what we came here for first" Kyle added.
"Okay okay, sure," Cole agreed. "Hope it's not too boring"
They continued following Glynda until they left the room.
The two followed her down a hallway before she stopped at a door.
"I like where this is going..." Cole whispered with a grin.
"Shut up" Kyle snapped as quietly as he could.
"Quickly," Glynda told them both before stepping into the room.
She closed the door after Kyle and Cole both came through.
"So...what now?" Cole asked her looking intrigued.
Kyle looked around the room and quickly saw a tall figure step forward.
"Voltio brothers, I'd like you to meet a transfer student from Haven..." she said. "His name is Liam Ivanhoe."
They all turned to see a white, tall, blonde, and brawny male with turquoise-colored eyes.
"Hey guys, how's it going?" he said with a small smile.
There was a brief silence before someone said anything.
"No. Way." Cole suddenly spoke. "You're...THE...Ivanhoe?!"
"Yeah, that's me..." Liam said with a small sigh. "Please, try not to mention my name out loud."
"Sorry, sorry...wow, this is so amazing!" Cole cried ecstatically. "You're one of those great heroes!"
"I'm no hero, I...just come from the lineage of them," he told him.
"Who..?" Kyle asked him.
"You're kidding me, right?" Cole scoffed looking toward his brother. "He's an Ivanhoe! The family of great huntsmen!"
"It's fine, not everyone knows us," Liam told him.
"Please, keep it down," Glynda warned Cole. "Liam does not want to be seen or heard by others.
"Uh, yeah..thanks," He told her. "You won't believe how many people I've had trouble avoiding since I've arrived"
"I bet! I can't even imagine how many girls want to talk to you!" Cole cried. "Must be so awesome!"
"I'd rather not talk about it righ-" Liam began.
"Dude..this is amazing! I can't believe you're going to be on a team with us!" Cole continued happily. "Just think of all the great stuff we could do with you..."
"Uh, actually I'd rather just be treated as a normal student," he told them.
"No way, you've got to enjoy the benefits!" Cole said smiling.
"I'm sorry Mr. Ivanhoe. Perhaps this was a mistake.." Glynda replied adjusting her glasses.
"No It's fine, he's just getting it out of his system," Liam told her. "I expected this"
"Since Liam has not publicly announced his arrival, we will not announce him or this team yet," Glynda said to everyone. "We will need to wait until a final team member is found tonight to avoid mass...hysteria."
"Bummer.." Cole replied, "No worries, I can wait!"
Suddenly he looked behind him to the weapon holstered on Liam's back.
"Holy crap, dude! That's a big ass sword!"
"Uh, thanks. Yeah, It's my greatsword. Schwere Angst" Liam told them. "It weighs a ton but I can make it much lighter with the help of my semblance.
"So awesome..."
"So..." Kyle began. "What made you want to come here?"
"Who cares, it's a great th-" Cole started.
"Cole, please. Let him speak." Kyle interrupted.
"Well...I've,...had trouble with my family lately, and serious trust issues with one" Liam said. "But I and my twin brother trained at Sanctum Academy before going to Haven."
"Oh wow...where is he? Your brother?" Cole asked.
"Look...I don't know" Liam sighed.
"Oh wow, did you fight? Were you...banished?" Cole asked confidently. "Don't worry...I still think you're badass."
"I don't think I should say anymore," Liam answered.
"Good. You don't have to" Kyle replied smiling. "We're glad to have you on our team."
He held out his hand until Cole quickly stepped forward.
"Hell yes!" Cole exclaimed grabbing Liam's hand. "This is great, I might need you to sign something!"
"Uh, sure," he replied. "I'll see you guys soon. I can't be seen around all those people. "
"No problem." Kyle agreed as he nodded his head. "We won't tell anyone else you're here until it's time"
"I hate to ruin the fellowship, but it seems the three of you are still one team member short" Glynda interrupted. "We must find a good candidate."
"Alright, I'll leave this up to you guys." Liam smiled. "Pick a good one"
Following Glynda, they both left the room and returned to the rest of the ceremony with the room full of people.
"There aren't many candidates left. Hurry and go and choose whoever is sitting alone." She told them. "Or I'll have to choose for you"
"Wow, this will be so great. I bet Liam will be our team leader!" Cole said cheering.
"Stop saying his name aloud. Kyle reminded him quietly, "Yes, I'm sure there will be a lot we can learn from him."
"I sure hope so" Cole smirked. "We'll be amazing huntsmen just like him!"
"Focus, we need to find someone like myself..." Kyle whispered back to him as he looked around the room at any persons of interest.
"DON'T YOU MEAN US!?" his brother asked giving him a dirty look.
"Uh, sure..." Kyle replied uneasily. "Whatever you say..."
After several moments of looking around, Kyle finally saw a girl standing alone off stage with others.
"Dude, no chicks..." Cole groaned, watching him look her way. "We can't have her always ogling at Liam!"
"We don't have time, and the others are keeping away from her, so we have to," Kyle said to him.
"NO! LIAM IS GONNA BE SO UPSET!"
"I'm sure he won't mind having one huntress for a teammate. She doesn't look very confident, just think how happy she could be once she's on our team." Kyle continued.
The two continued approaching before realizing something. Two pointy ears were protruding from her head.
"Not the best idea" Cole began. "Come on, just look at her. She's, ya know..."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Kyle stopped shooting him a glare.
"Is there a problem, boys?" Glynda asked as she walked up behind them. "Liam is ready if you two are"
"No, Ma'am, no problems," Kyle told her quickly. "And yes, we're ready."
"Good, who'd you guys choose?" Liam asked as he appeared.
Kyle quickly pointed over at the girl
"That Faunus girl...over there," he said.
"But..." Cole frowned. "Why her?"
"Doesn't matter, times up. You all have been assigned your final teammate." Glynda replied. "Her name is Ms. Petra Kalesta. The four of you all will be on stage soon"
"Let's go say hi to her" Kyle said.
"Sure, she may freak out but I'm down" Liam grinned.
"Sorry, what was that you guys?" Cole replied smugly. "I can't hear you"
They made their way over to the stage before awkwardly standing behind Petra in silence. She had small dark brown hair and light brown eyes. Her fox ears were rather large and protruded to the front of her face.
"Hey-I'm Kyle, we're going to be on your team. Sorry, we're just now meet-" he began.
The girl looked back at them and gave a small scowl but remained quiet.
"Uh...hi?" Cole said to her in surprise.
Finally, the moment came when all four of them were ushered on stage.
Making their way over to him, they all stood in a line in front of Professor. Ozpin.
Soon the applause of the crowd became louder as some fans began calling out Liam's name.
"Kyle Voltio, Cole Voltio, Petra Kalesta, and Liam Ivanhoe." Ozpin began. "The four of you collected the BLACK Knights. From now on, you all will work together as..." he stopped, pausing briefly. "Team Copal (KCPL)"
The applause continued as they waited for him to finish.
"Lead by..." he began. "Kyle Voltio"
The applause increased as Kyle's eyes grew in disbelief.
"H-Huh? But...isn't Liam?"
"Congratulations" Ozpin smiled.
Kyle looked over at his team. Liam gave a thumbs up and smiled, with Petra paying no attention.
Cole continued staring behind the Professor, with one of his eyes twitching.
Making their way off-stage, other students began swarming over to Liam.
"Uh, gotta go guys. See you back at the dorm!" he cried.
The three stood there as they watched him dodge left and right avoiding people.
Soon after the ceremony ended, the audience began to disperse along with some of the teams.
"I can't believe that guy is on your team!" Jaune cried running up to them. "Just think of how strong you guys can be!"
Team RWBY began approaching the group also.
"Strong? Weiss replied. "Jaune, I don't think that's something you know much about."
Petra glared at Weiss from a distance but continued to remain quiet.
Weiss saw her and quickly rolled her eyes.
"I'm sorry, is there something you want to say?" she began. "Don't look so mad at me. It's not like a Faunus like yourself can't hear everything with those big fox ears you have. Perfect for eavesdropping"
Blake looked as if she was about to speak out until the rest of Team JNPR appeared.
"You're just jealous she'll be able to sneak in and see Liam showering" Nora chimed in with a grin.
Almost everyone laughed at the comment and eased the tension.
"I AM NOT!" Weiss said as her face began to blush.
"Actually, I think I saw a poster of him alongside one of your Pyrrha ones" Ruby replied rubbing her chin. "It's okay Weiss, most girls like him"
"I'm just as surprised as all of you, but let's give everyone some room to breathe," Pyrrha told everyone. "These decisions are final"
"Sis, Kyle, Jaune, we're happy for all of you. You'll make great team leaders!" Yang said fist-pumping into the air.
"Thank you. See you all soon" Kyle smiled. "I think we better split because I see other people coming, probably wanting to ask about Liam"
Kyle and his teammates began making their way outside and away from anyone else.
"Ignore that Schnee girl, she's always like th-" he began before looking over at Petra.
She was gone.
"Where'd she go?" he asked Cole.
"Does it matter?" Cole said.
"Well, let's hope Liam's alright maybe we sh-" Kyle began.
"It should've been him, not you," Cole said abruptly.
"Uh, what the hell's eating you?" Kyle asked as he stopped walking.
He gave his brother a rude look but was only met with one in return.
"YOU ARE" Cole began. "All you do is stick your nose in books and daydream!"
"Cole...you do know some of that helps on the battlefield, right?" Kyle replied.
"Yeah, but not enough." Cole shot back.
"That's why I'm always training," said Kyle. "There's always room for impr-"
"YOU HAVEN'T EVEN UNLOCKED YOUR SEMBLANCE!" Cole shouted then ran off.
Kyle watched him before giving a deep sigh.
There he was, standing all alone.
This was going to be harder than he thought.
