6: Dealing with Dolores

The day after Hogwarts had been invaded Harry had his first lesson on Defense Against the Dark Arts with Dolores Umbridge. Along with his fellow puffs, and the fifth-year claws Harry took seat ready to see how this ministry sent teacher would teach her students.
Umbridge herself sat at the front of the class. Harry thought she looked horrid in pink. She sipped from a cup of tea as she waited for everyone to find a seat. When the last student had done so she used her want to close the door.
"Good morning class" she said in what Harry supposed was supposed to be a sweet voice, but sounded to his hears like 1 of the sex crazed fiends he had been forced to face back in the elemental dimension.
"Good morning professor" the class replied.
Umbridge narrowed her eyes for a second, but whatever she had been thinking hadn't lasted long before she smiled.
If Harry thought her outfit was bad, her smile was even worse. He had to force himself not to react as she seemed to focus her beaming smile directly onto him.
"You can put your wands away" she said looking around the class room. "You won't be needing it for my class."
That made Harry raise both eyebrows in surprise. How were they supposed to learn how to cast the spells needed for their OWLs at the end of the year. Unfortunately, it seems that Umbridge was watching Harry, and caught the movement.
"Is there a problem Mr. Potter?"
Harry faced their professor. "No problem, Professor. Just surprised."
This time it was Umbridge's eyebrows that lifted. "Oh! Why is that Mr. Potter?"
Harry shrugged. "It was just that I thought Defense Against the Dark Arts would have a set of spells that required practicing for our OWLs. I mean I don't need it. I got plenty of practice before returning to Briton, but there are several heirs to prominent families that will need these scores to take the classes they need for jobs later."
Everyone sat stunned as Potter stated he didn't need to learn the spells.
Umbridge narrowed her eyes at him. "And why would any of you need to learn spells? It's not like You-know-who is back."
Harry shrugged. "I wouldn't know Professor. I had heard he was back, but I haven't been in Briton for 5 years. Besides that there are still dark wizards out there. After all if there aren't, then why is this class A core class?"
To Harry's surprise 1 of the claws, Cho Chang, spoke up. "But he is back. He killed Sedric Diggory."
"Detention Miss Chang" Umbridge barked. "There will be none of that in my class. Now open your books to page 1, and start reading. There will be no talking."
As students turned to the first page of their books Harry caught Susan's eye. It seemed Solar was going to be supervising a detention.

Throughout the day Harry kept an eye on Chang. She herself didn't seem overly concerned about her detention. After all it wasn't like the staff would allow their students to come to any real harm, would they?
Harry for his part wasn't so sure. After all this was the same staff that allowed a young first-generation witch to be killed by a troll, and allowed a young pureblood girl's life force to be drained all of her first year. So, no, he wasn't content to sit back and see what the staff would and would not allow.

At 7:00 PM Cho Chang knocked on the door of Dolores Umbridge's office.
"Come in" her false girly voice called from inside. Cho turned the knob, and pushing the door open entered the office.
"Ah Miss Chang! Right on time. Close the door, won't you?"
Unknown to either Chang or Umbridge Solar invisibly slipped into the office. Thankfully he was able to move out of the way of Chang as she turned to close the office door. Solar frowned as he felt a privacy ward go up as the door closed. Why would Umbridge want a privacy ward to surround her office. Was it automatic, or was there some other reason?
Chang and Umbridge were unaware of Solar's thoughts as Chang sat in the chair in front of the desk.
Umbridge placed some sheets of parchment and a black quill in front of Chang. "You will write 'I will not lie to my betters'."
Chang looked back at Umbridge with disdain. "But I'm not lying. I saw him myself when he attacked the Diggory residents. The only reason I survived the attack is because I was shoved through a window on the second floor. I saw You-know-who kill Sedric just before falling into some bushes under his window. Even then I would have been found if I hadn't fallen through the bushes into a tunnel that lead back under the manner. I was just lucky that the death eaters didn't set the manner on fire."
Umbridge's face reddened. "You will write the lines" she ordered.
Shrugging Chang picked up the quill, and reached into her bag for some ink.
"You won't need any ink" Umbridge said with a nasty smile.
At those words Solar blinked in horror. "She wouldn't, would she? Those are illegal to use unless it's signing contracts at Gringotts."
Shrugging Chang started to write the first line. She cried out in pain as the quill cut into the back of her off hand. "This is a blood quill" she exclaimed.
"Why yes, yes it is" Umbridge said with a disturbingly sweet smile on her face.
Chang looked at her with anger. "These are only to be used in Gringotts for signing contracts."
Umbridge shrugged. "So? I'm the under secretary to the minister of magic. I can do whatever I need to do to keep him in office. It's not as if those stupid beasts can do anything to me."
Chang was about to retort, when an unknown voice echoed around the room. "The goblins of Gringotts are now the least of your worries Umbridge."
Umbridge pulled her wand as she looked around the office. She wasn't the only 1. Chang was also looking around, though she didn't have her wand in her hand.
"Who's there? Show yourself."
A chuckle echoed around the room. "And just why would I do that?"
"As the undersecretary ..."
The voice interrupted, "I'm not interested in yourself important titles. You are torturing a student, and this I will not allow."
Umbridge scoffed. "You can't do anything to me. I have the ear of the minister."
The voice laughed. "I don't care, and funnily enough, when I'm done with you neither will the minister!"
Without warning a blue-white bolt of some kind slammed into Umbridge's chest. She screamed in pain as something was torn out of her.
Chang watched as a half black; half white ball of light was pulled from Umbridge. The ball hovered in mid-air for a few seconds. Before it disappeared.
Umbridge struggled to her feet after having been knocked to the floor. "Wha, what have you done to me?"
The voice chuckled again. "I simply removed your magic. Now you have no reason to be here, and the minister isn't going to care what happens to you at all."
Umbridge staired in shock for a few seconds. Before a black portal opened in front of her, and she was pushed through disappearing from sight.
Chang sat frozen watching where Umbridge had been standing only a few seconds ago. Finally shaking herself out of her stupor she stood from the chair, and walked out of the office heading for her head of house's office. She needed to let him know what almost happened to her, and what did happen to Umbridge.
As the door closed behind Chang there was a shimmer in the air, and Solar appeared. "I'll need to let Harry know what happened here. No sense letting him be unprepared for the fallout.".
With that Solar pulled out his phone, and dialed a number. "This is Solar. I need transport back in time. About 28 minutes. Thanks."
With a flash Solar disappeared from the office.

An: see I warned you it was short. Now no one will be attacked by blood quills, and none of the students will have to rebell against 1 of their teachers. Although we're not done with Fudge yet.
Next chapter we findout who the elemental of fire is, and we get the biggest clue about our villain yet.
Remember if you have any questions or suggestions feel free to send them to me in a PM, or a review. Well that's all for this week, and I will see you all next time.
