(A/n.. this story is the one on the forefront of my brain. I will work on the others when I get ideas for them.)

Maybe this whole magic thing won't be so bad.

They had gone to bed after Cedric had calmed down and apologized, also agreeing that they needed to take pictures, take memories and have not only his father written but Neville's Grandmother, Amelia bones and the deputy headmistress. Persephone had woken up in the very large very soft bed in her room of the Pendragon house. The room had its own en suite bathroom, a wardrobe, a stone desk, weapons rack for sword, bows, axes and a dagger case. The bed itself has a stone frame with dark purple duvet and black curtains. She sat up and stretched yawning loudly. Thanks to Tonks they all knew the alarm charm to wake them up each day. And breakfast called as her stomach growled. Hades stretched and gruffled loudly. He looked at her and pouted at her. He knew she had classes today and contemplated just following her anyway. His claws and his hair raised slightly at the sudden knock on her door.

"Yea?" She called out only to have a voice that was either Hermione or Tracey called back through "can I come in?"
"I haven't dressed yet but as long as you don't care I don't" the door cracked open and Tracey stood at the door with Hermione. Persephone blinked a few times. Damn I'm tired.
Tracey was a little pink and Hermione a bright red once they stepped into the compartment. "What?" Tracey just gestured to her chest before Persephone looked down and shrieked. She forgot she didn't put on pajamas. "Err.." she pulled the duvet up over herself. "We just wanted to see if you wanted to join us for breakfast." Hermione managed to say. "Yes of course. Hades go on and wait for me in the common room. Ok?" Tracey looked down at the cub who gently pounced off the bed and trotted over to the girls and walked past them basically telling them to follow. Tracey did quickly but Hermione stayed. "Err…Hermione?" Persephone asked carefully. Hermione just continued into the room and closed the door. "Girls shouldn't be embarrassed around each other right?" Persephone was still red on her neck and ears though it was harder to see with her darker complexion. "I-i suppose not." Hermione only smiled a toothless smile and turned to sit on the edge of the bed. With her back to her, Persephone quickly scrambled to her wardrobe and grabbed her clothes before bolting for the shower. Hermione chuckled to herself, her cheeks crimson.

Once dressed and the kids all gathered at the round table Arlgon woke and looked at each child blowing smoke out his nostrils. " Good morrow young hatchlings." He mused. Everyone gave their attention to the stone dragon. " Before you venture to the great hall for breakfast, I wish to point something out to you." He moved his gaze to the blank banners that surrounded the common room. Each one had a blank wooden shield below it with metal fasteners for a weapon or two. " Each of you may lay claim to a banner after much thought. This will be your knight banner. After all. Those who enter the house of Pendragon follow in the footsteps of the knights past. Before each banner will change you must know and accept the knights code inside your very core. Colors, images, animals, family motto new or old. The school shall once more hold honor in its halls." Arlgon left much for the kids to think about. One of which Harry spoke up to ask. "What exactly is the knights code?"

(A/n: I am a huge fan of dragon heart one of the better movies I saw as a child. The knights code does come from this movie and historical references of squires sworn to knighthood etc so I do not claim to own or make money off of this quote only using it in reference.)

Arlgon looked to each child his stone eyes somehow glowing.

"Inside the table's circle,

Under the sacred sword.

A knight must vow to follow

The code that is unending,

Unending as the table—

A ring by honor bound.

A knight is sworn to valor,

His heart knows only virtue,

His blade defends the helpless,

His might upholds the weak,

His word speaks only truth,

His wrath undoes the wicked.

The right can never die,

If one man still recalls.

The words are not forgot,

If one voice speaks them clear.

The code forever shines,

If one heart holds it bright"

as he spoke the words began to flow around the room burning deep within a stone tablet that was carved and formed into a parchment roll on the wall. The words glowed a bright blue before fading to a lazy glow that didn't fade. Saying each word Arlgon spoke. "Wow." Neville spoke softly. Everyone mumbling in agreement. "Once you are ready to accept or not approach me and I shall give you the Oath to take. However the oaths must be public. So all know what it is you are accepting. Your magic will flash in acceptance. Then you will come here and select a banner. Once you do it will release the shield and magic will adapt the shield to you, your role, and your weapon based on the magical element you hold within. Take your time. Thinking honestly and true. It is an oath for life not just school." All around the stone dragon gave soft acknowledgment and began to stiffle out to the great hall.

The hall didn't change much. The four tables were still there only slightly shortened. The table for Pendragon was still round just like the one in their common room. They all say the same as in the common room the night before with Fred and George most likely switching just because they could.
The deputy headmistress strode over to the table and handed them all a piece of parchment with their timetables on them. "Good morning to ye." She gave what the younger students assumed was supposed to be a smile. "Good morning professor McGonagall." Tonks gave her a wide grin. "Miss Tonks. I am pleased to see you all have settled nicely. Though I must admit I am relieved I have two less troublemaking cubs." She spoke eyeing the two Weasley who grinned sheepishly.
"You will sit with the ravens for the first years, and you five will remain in your original timetables." Everyone seemed to nod to the strict Scott woman. "Deputy head…" Persephone asked softly. She looked at the first year and gave her full attention. "Yes Miss Gallows?" She glanced at all the others the longest on Harry until he nodded shyly. "we have a formal issue to speak with you about at your convenience as deputy head. It needs to be private for the person's comfort, so I ask you to please come alone." The professor seemed shocked and looked at all the new dragons who seemed to deflate. "after classes today. We shall meet in your house if that suits you?" All nodded with Hermione gave Harry a comforting back rub. McGonagall however caught that and her ire began to rise. It filled her core so hard she felt a snap on the inside and pain shook her body.

She opened her eyes and saw the white ceiling of the infirmary. She groaned in a throbbing pain. "Minerva…" a slightly squeaky voice echoed over her. "Wake up now, come on. You have classes." The voice chuckled at its own joke but it made the Scott try and sit up. She felt her friends hand help her and raise the bed frame to help her stay up right. Pomphry and Filius were watching her. "What happened?" Pomphry first shoved a potion into her hands with a look that said 'drink or suffer my wrath.' she quickly downed the small vile, making a face. She felt the effects instantly and let out a sigh. "What's happened?" Filius cleared his throat and gave her a strange look. "After approaching the Pendragon table they seemed to have words with you and you screamed out falling unconscious."
"A loyalty bind on your core snapped. And your body fell unconscious to start fixing the damage. I wouldn't be surprised if you find memories you didn't know you had returned." Pomphrey added using her wand to wave it over the teacher. "A loyalty bind? Is that even possible?" The Medi witch nodded. "Compulsion, loyalty potions on top of it. As well as repulsion and a whole slew of others. You've been dosed every day for years." Pomphrey frowned. "Minerva if the scans are correct…they all tie to Dumbledore."

The girls had taken to the first two benches at the front of each class where the boys were right behind them. They would chat lightly and go over spells together trying to figure out how each thing worked.
By the time they sat at the table for lunch they were in full discussion about the first two classes. "Potions should be next." Hermione spoke softly before taking a bite of food. "Professor Snape isn't exactly the best teacher." Draco spoke softly. Eyeing where the man sat looking at their table curiously. "Just don't try and be the first to answer questions, speak out of turn and we'll pray to Merlin." The other kids scowled. "He is my godfather though… so maybe he will not be as bad to us." They all groaned as they slumped in the common room after potions and before dinner. "I didn't think he'd work us like house elves…" Draco managed to groan out. "My hand hurts from all the notes…my hand never hurts from writing notes." Hermione added shaking out her hand and flexing her fingers. "I liked the lesson…up until the parchment…" Harry spoke in horror. Neville agreeing with him instantly. Persephone while rubbing her hand looked thoughtful to the stone proclamation of the knights oath. Potions wasn't like it was before. Snape didn't berate Neville, call out Harry for his fame and didn't call any of us dunderheads. This is strange. Daphne and Tracey had taken to cuddling the jaguar cub and playing with him with a feather attached to a string. He'd pounce and jump at it while trying cutely to mow like a big boy.

The older students joined them roughly a half hour later. Calm talks came over the table with Tonks joining the two first years with playing and spoiling the cub. There was a solid sound of a clearing of a throat from the stone dragon who looked down to the house. " Professor McGonagall is seeking entry. Shall I allow her in?" He looked to the eldest in the house,Tonks who nodded. The sound of his thick tail moving and the door opening allowed the Scott woman inside.
Harry shrunk a bit but felt a bit more confident with the others around him giving him silent encouragement. She sat at the round table and looked around better than the previous night. "how can I as deputy help you?" The others all slightly turned to Harry who shrank even more. And McGonagall picked it up instantly. "Mr Potter. I am here to listen. And will help best to my ability." Harry shot out and grabbed the closest hand to him, which happened to be Daphne's and she gave it a squeeze. "It…would be best if I showed you." He said what to expect this go around, the others were able to actually see the depth of the injury.

Instead of tears, McGonagall built in silent fury. Her eyes travelled every scar, scab and healing bruises. His ribs were far to visible and he was so small compared to the other two first year boys. She began to scowl deeper and deeper. So deep it almost rivaled professor Snape's. Once the fury inside had finally reached its peak she blew. " an t-seana ghobhar sin a dh'itheas cainbe!" She stood and began to pace. Talking to herself in a way half the kids couldn't even understand she was saying words much less what those words meant.
Once she had been spent and she collapsed to the chair once again, she rubbed her face. "I apologize. Mr. Potter, this coming weekend me and you will be traveling to saint mungo's. We will be getting you on healing potions and giving you a full check up with multiple medi-witches and wizards. We will make this right. Thank you dragons for bringing this to my attention. 50 points for helping a fellow student in need." The week had flown by and soon Harry was being summoned to McGonagall's office. He looked nervous but had a surprise waiting. Persephone stood smiling with a bright green leash in hand. "I asked Hades if he was willing to spend the time with you as we can't go with you. He will happily cuddle you and help you through this while we can't physically be there for you." Harry's eyes filled with tears and he crouched down to look at Hades. "Thank you friend. I could use the company." Hades chuffed and lifted himself to his hind legs to nuzzle the boy's face.

Persephone handed him the green leash which connected to an equally green collar. "Here is a note for the professor saying you have my permission to take him with you for comfort. We will see you soon Harry." It was then he saw the rest of his house there and all of them quickly pulled him into a hug minus Draco who rolled his eyes before being suddenly pulled in by Persephone. "Hug your cousin moron." The first weekend looked to be a nice one and Persephone smiled with glee. Pulling out of her 'sports area compartment', which she had renamed the broom closet. She pulled out her football and gloves with the ball in the main mitt. She pulled on a slightly warmer muggle outfit and walked out of the room to see some sitting by the fire. "Hey guys! Anyone want to go outside? I got a ball and catch set. Let's go get some exercise!" The two girls outside of Hermione seemed horrified. "exercise?" Hermione grinned quickly standing up from her book and looking at the equipment. "I'll play, with one condition." Persephone's smile faltered slightly. "You have to do homework when we come back in." With a relieved sigh she agreed and the two other girls plus the younger boys seemed to follow them out.

The grounds held a few students just enjoying the sun while they could, when the quintet found a nice clearing of grass. "Does anyone know how to play football?" Hermione raised her hand then lowered it blushing. "Heh…sorry. I do."
"What is football? Is it a sport you play on a broom?" Draco asked with Neville paling. "Not at all. First off we need to make two goals." She walked over and looked at two trees on one side and two boulders or rather a cluster of boulders on the other. "Alright, those trees and those boulders.* She called out. Then she walked the length between the two then walked back halfway before setting the white and black ball down. "This sport is all about foot movement and strength. No brooms but still strategy and power." When a few other muggleborn noticed the ball they started to walk over. "Is that a football?" One called out excitedly. Persephone nodded. "And you have baseball mitts?" Another called out. "Yes! Those who have played and want to come over here. We have a few who have no idea what this is." Persephone chuckled. Once a few seconds and third years as well as a few other first years circled around and Persephone began to explain the basic rules to the pure bloods and half blood. Soon enough they had the children split up equally with eleven on each side with the one fourth year boy as referee.

All the kids were dirty and laughing as they walked into the front doors. Before they got too far however three of the four heads of house as well as Madame hooch stood blocking them. "We have some questions for you." Snape began. "As we can see, you have brought a muggle game to the school. We would like to know…" Persephone clenched her eyes shut. "If you would be willing to set up a team charter." Madame hooch spoke before Snape could, causing the man to glare at her. "What?" They all asked at once. "We watched you being together for multiple years and houses over the game. So we all sat and decided to take it to the headmaster in setting up friendly matches or a tournament like quittich. And we saw you had another game as well but only two can play?" Professor sprout asked. "Oh no." Hermione spoke. "Baseball has nine or more players in play at any given time. It also has a bat where you have to hit a ball as big as your fist, and four bases to run around." The professors looked to each other then back to the children. "Whose equipment is it?" Flitwick spoke quickly. "And can you get more?" Persephone pursed her lips in thought. "I have to write to Madam Tonks and see if she would be willing to take me to get more perhaps at Christmas. There is safety equipment and uniforms for these games too. But there are tons of sports the muggle world plays." Hermione nodded. "They have all sorts of sports for the different seasons too. It all depends on the person."

The professors looked at each other then back to the children. "May we borrow you two? Go over the different sports, rules if you know them and what all would be needed? Maybe we can slowly incorporate new sports each semester." The two girls bade their friends farewell "So miss Gallows and miss Granger. What can you tell us about certain sports we could start with?" Snape began gesturing to the unused blackboard in the classroom they chose. "Well… baseball is more a spring sport." Persephone started picking up the small piece of chalk and wrote spring then the sport below it. "American football and football are played in the autumn." Again she wrote the season and sports below it. "Games like ice hockey, basketball, and swim meets are winter. But I don't think we could go swimming unless it was warm out." So now with Hermione taking over the chalk mumbling something about handwriting. She wrote the winter sport. "There are others but not really competitive unless we look at the winter Olympics. But let's see .. oh there's also lacrosse and rugby. Polo.. err strike polo we don't have horses here haha." Hermione rolled her eyes and rubbed it off the board. "There's frisbee, golf, bowling." Persephone rambled a bit.

The professors gawked for a moment looking over all the sports listed. "the magical have one sport. Look at this and tell me what's wrong." Flitwick muttered softly. "Not to mention the summer Olympics and the Scottish highland games. Fencing, and archery." Gob smacked they all sat in silence a moment before Sprout looked over the list tightly. "Well out of all of these which ones would be the simplest to set up? To learn?" The two girls looked over the list themselves and went back to each other. "Most likely football, and basketball. As an actual team sports. The simplest to get uniforms for and the equipment is minimal. Something that I'm sure I can donate to the school. After all Madame Tonks helped me the first time. And I'm sure if we draw up the designs for you, one of you can permanently transfigure certain things."

The professors talked amongst themselves for a moment. Persephone and Hermione looked back at each other having a silent conversation. Before the professors came to a decision, Snape cleared his throat. "As long as we understand the rules and can explain how to teach others, What all would be needed?"
"Exactly. The two you picked. Will they be able to be formed this semester?" Snape drawled. "I believe so sir. If we can show you what we would need I'm sure once the yule Holliday comes I can go out into muggle London and get the supplies we need." "Oh nonsense. One of us can take you once we get it approved young Pendragon. Now draw for us what you need for each one. And start listing the rules." After drawing up what cleats looked like and the backboard and hoop and basketball as well as the nets and field for football and the court for basketball they were excused.

Both were in desperate need for a shower and the Dragon Alrgon puffed the steam at them before letting them have entry. Both separated and went to their own showers. Once clean, they both rejoined the other first years and opened up their text books to start on homework. It wasn't hard per-say but it did take some time to write everything out. "I've got to get one of those nice dip pens Tonks has." Persephone muttered. "quills are so fragile I keep almost snapping mine." Daphne snorted softly and looked up. "Well, if you have the money I can always owl post daddy and see if he's willing to pick some up for us. Or we can see if we can get a mail order catalog. After all, I'm sure there are things we will need to be stocked throughout the year." Persephone hummed and gave her a smile. "How much do you think we'd need? Get us all a couple for class and a couple for the dorm?" Daphne shrugged "I have no clue. But I know daddy will send whatever is extra back." Persephone reached into her robe pocket and extracted 20 good coins. "If that's not enough please let your father know I will forward him the rest." Daphne gawked at her but accepted the coins. "I'll let him know. Anything particular?" Persephone grinned.

That dinner Harry once again joined them at the table but had a large smile on his face. His glasses were gone as well. He chatted happily on about how Hades has snarled at a few of the medi-wizards who came off too aggressive. Said cub was in Persephone's lap watching everyone at the table protectively. Tonks had watched all the others half heatedly. She had a thoughtful look in her eyes but couldn't fathom why. Her mind was all over the place and it was obvious by the fact her eyes kept changing color. Harry eventually caught her attention and made her gasp. "Harry? How?" He smiled. "They found a block in my core that I guess was put there by my parents. It was suppose to come off about now. My magic was too. But I have Black blood in me just like you. And I am the rare case you were talking about. Me you and Draco are all cousins. Although I don't think Draco can we won't know unless he gets looked at." Harry changed his eyes to bright pink and gave her a grin. "I can only do my eyes right now. I'd love the help though."Tonks grinned wildly and gave the boy a hug. "I'm so glad! Finally! My own protege!" She laughed maniacally causing quite a few stares from other tables.

Persephone just shook her head a smile on her face. Hermione looked at the two, rolled her eyes and continued to read from the book she brought with her. It was just before the desserts had been cleaned when the headmaster approached the round table. "Good evening young Pendragons. I have news." He gave a grandfatherly like grin but it seemed strained when he saw Harry. "we have found an instructor to teach and head your house. He will not be available until after the new year, but he is looking forward to teaching the old ways to you." His voice was a bit snipped but tried to sound pleased. Persephone narrowed her eyes at the old man. "What's his name?" Neville asked curiously. "Master Gerald Epsi, master of blade, kendo, Tai chi and a spiritual guru. He is from the American colonies." Persephone's eyes widened. She knew that name from somewhere. "until then the heads will continue to rotate being your head of house. Mr. Potter may I have a word with you after the meal is completed?" Harry shrugged and gave a nod. The headmaster with a new twinkle in his eyes walked away. "Harry .." Persephone quickly whispered. He turned and grinned, before noticing her face as well as Hades's scruff raised. "What's wrong?" He asked taking a large bite of the treacle tart on his plate. "take Professor Flitwick with you. As our head of house he should be with you for any meeting with the head master ok?" Harry seemed confused but nodded at her, returning to his treat. Man I love this. Harry mused.

The five first years waited by the fire for Harry while the older students finished up homework at the round table. The twins had a wicked grin on their faces, obviously not working on homework. Harry and Professor Flitwick walked into the dorm laughing, Harry had a blueish potion vile in his hand but otherwise seemed happy. "here is your dawdling dragon. Have a good night!" He called out before leaving them again. "What did the headmaster want?" Daphne asked as Harry sat beside them. "Asked me about my glasses, and the professor said it wasn't his business as it didn't pertain to school. Then lead me away talking to me about the goblin warriors and how we should seek some out to see if they would be interested in teaching us. Apparently they used to train the Dragons back in the day." The five others seemed just as shocked about it but then pleased.

That night seemed to drag as Persephone readied for bed. Her mind was in a whirl. So much was different from what she knew. She glanced down at the journal and sighed. She needed to make comparisons about the book timeline and the one she was in. It was going to be a long night indeed.
