Totally Spies IS NOT mine

FAR AWAY

After two months waiting, Tim finally was about to know his new faith. He had been waiting for the date since the audience informed him about the news of his new-reduced sentence. Every interview, evaluation and follow-up was stressful so he had to remain himself focused on the main point of all of this: he was a step closer to be with his family. He did everything in his power and hopes it was enough to get a great deal. He inspected his reflection on the mirror, trying to be the best example of seriousness and well behavior. The guard came short after and escorted him to the known quarters with the strange C-table.

"Welcome back, Mister Scam. It's been a while"

"Please pardon us for the time; this kind of process is really uncommon"

"I hope that we're here attending good news"

"Precisely; we consider that we have information in your favor" Tim was not happy with the situation. If they required him, they must know by memory what is contained on those papers. What was happening could change all the plans he had so far to be with his family. Why it took them so long to confirm what they already knew? "Timothy Scam, after revising your expedient and break down the results of the reassessment process, we all agree that your sentence is too high, according to the new history of behavior" It was a relieve to finally confirm that, he would be serving less time between these cold-gray four walls. "Your new sentence is set on nine months on prison, plus two years on probation. While in prison, it is mandatory to continue with your community services every weekdays. In addition, on Saturday, you will be attending counseling, to continue with the reintegration to society" He was speechless. It was expect to be a reduction, but not that much. With the original sentence, he would be on prison for years. He will be out in less than one year "Is it clear, mister Scam?" It was overwhelming to think that the end was around the corner. He wanted to cry out of happiness and gratitude.

"Yes, understood. I…" a little smile appeared on his face. It was hard to align his words to form proper sentences. "Thank you so much"

"No need for that; you gained this opportunity"

"We're hoping you will take it seriously"

"Do not make us regret it"

"I won't. I won't screw this up"

Everything else was pointless, not important to him. A copy from his new sentence is later on his cell bed. He spent hours re-reading every single word on the paper. He cannot believe it, he was afraid of waking up in any moment. He will be with his family in no time.

Gabe was officially a 6-mont-old baby. To celebrate the milestone, she decided to go for a walk with him and the girls. Every day, Sam learn more about his son and his behavior. Overall, he was a quiet baby, with a few moments of temper. He was curious, always trying to figure it out what was happening in his surroundings. He loved spent time with her mommy. For some reason, he seemed to have some reserves when it comes to his grandpa. As it expected, he gained baby-fat, his head was full of brown hair and his beautiful eyes sparked with the joyful sense of a happy baby.

Little Gabe was having the best time watching the colorful natural environment. He wanted to be part, but so far, the most he could do it's to sit up for a while so he didn't have another alternative than to play in auntie's Alex lap. Sometimes, she felt guilty to bring his son to an incomplete family, at least, when it came to the contact he needed from his father. It has been the best six months of her life, but at the same time, the more challenging so far. Even though, she had a lot of support with her son, but Tim's situation had been playing a big part on her stress. She was relieved with the fact that he will be out earlier; she was grateful for that. The issue is that with the new conditions, they couldn't practically see each other. That is why she felt so guilty with their current discomfort about the situation. Tim has had miss a lot, not knowing the dynamic she implemented since their son's birth and the plans she has been making to his well-being. Not only she felt a little lonely right now, she was worried about the aftermath of his release.

It was more deep and concerning to her. Gabe's birth had gave her a different perspective from life and the impact of her decisions on her son's life. She wanted to prevent any future harm for them and that was the reason she thought about sit down with Tim and expressed her worries about their future when they became officially a full-time family. Their entire relationship had been while Tim was serving his time. They had not experience normal couple's interactions and she feared that the shock when they finally live together could be a major change that could jeopardize their relationship. She wanted to have this conversation with him, but she did not know how to bring the topic to light. With the new conditions of his sentence, he had little space to receive them and of course, his time with Gabe was and will always be top priority. However, she would like to have the conversation before his release. There are so much to figure it out yet.

"What's up with you" Clover's voice brought her back from her thoughts. Her best friend was raising one of her perfect eyebrows, waiting for an answer. Sam looked at Alex and Gabe who were really in another world, playing with the baby's toys. Sensing that whatever was messing with her best friend's mind is something that she did not want to discuss near her son, Clover took the lead. "Alex, do you want some ice cream? I suddenly feel the craving for one of vanilla".

"Chocolate, please" the blonde-haired woman nodded, looking at Sam. "Come on"

She wasn't in the mood for a talk, not in the moment. Clover and Tim's relationship had evolved, but she wasn't sure it would be on Tim's best interest to talk about her worries with Clover. The young Simpson looked at her best friend while she ordered the dessert.

"We know that the ice cream is an excuse"

"Yes, because something is worrying you. It's about, Gabe?"

"Indirectly, yes."

"So…it's about Tim" Her silence was the answer Clover needed it to confirm her statement. "Did you have a fight?"

"No"

"So?" Sam sighed, trying to remain in control. "You know you can trust me"

"I know, it's just that…I don't feel like talking right now." Instead of getting offended or angry, Clover let her be. Sam's situation was far complicate by itself. She was not going to be the one to stress her more.

"Ok, you know I will always available to hear you out" Clover took her ice cream and Alex's. Sam took one of strawberry before following Clover to get back to her son and tried to distract herself from her worries. "You got to be kidding me…"

"What?" There was a girl in front of Alex and Gabe. A figure that they know so well and want nothing to do with her. They thought she was far away being mean on a foreign country. What is she doing near little Gabe?

"Who is this little guy? Whose baby is this?" Mandy's irritating voice was the one to ask.

"Mine" answered Sam arriving to her side, taking his son on her arms. "Why?"

"OMG, the pure-responsible and strong-minded Samantha Simpson had a baby? When was the wedding?"

"On November 2nd of 'it's not your business' " responded Alex with a frown.

"What do you want? Could you please go and be Mandy in another place?"

"What's up with the hostility? I'm just trying to catch-up with old pals." his devilish smile was more than an indicative of her true intentions. "Can I have the father's name, at least?"

"No" answered Sam cuddling his son.

"Oh, so you're a single mom. What? A one-night stand that went wrong?

"Mandy, I will count to three before I do something that you will regret, ok?

"Oh, come on Clover, I'm just…"

"One…" Mandy's smile faded, knowing that the historical data when things get physical were not in her favor.

"Fine" she looked at Sam and the baby she's holding protectively. "I didn't think you will be the one to fall for a man's trap. Oh well, apparently you are not the genius that everyone think you are".

"Two…"

"I'm going! Stop counting. Anyway, congratulation on your motherhood." It was nothing genuine in her 'well wishes'. Even though she was gone, her presence and words were on repeat mode on Sam's mind. That kind of inconvenient infuriated and made her feel the worst mother of the world. People tend to judge his son based on his father 'absence'. It didn't matter that Gabriel was a healthy baby boy, well-behaved and happy. It only mattered that his father is not around, as if she wasn't good enough for her son.

"Do not let her bother you, Sam" but it was too late.

It has been a few days since the park incident. Sam tried to focus on work, as an approach to distract herself from Mandy's words and all the issues she had pending with her boyfriend. The girls noticed how much the comment affected her so tried, as far as they could, to cheer her up, but it didn't work. It was Saturday afternoon; Sam was organizing her scheduler for the next week so she could spent the rest of the weekend with her son and family. Gabriel has been more cranky than usual. He refused to eat, play and do anything besides being on her mother's arms. At noon, she put him down for a nap after being crying for an alarming amount of time. She was worried and was not sure if it was something related to a bad tantrum or something more serious regarding his health. When she finished her activity, the loud cry of her son broke the silence. She ran to Gabe, finding him sitting up with his little hands holding the bars. His face was red and the tears came down furiously through his cheeks.

"What is wrong, angel?" she hold him into her arms and notice his body warmer than expected. She immediately checked his temperature. "You're burning up…" It came out as a whisper, but in reality, she was on pure panic.

With Gabriel on arms, she called his pediatrician. She was instruct to do the basic for fever cases; if the symptoms didn't improve, she had to take to ER. When 5 o'clock came and situation was even worse, she took her son and drive to the near hospital. Gabe have been crying for hours, increasing his mother's worries even worse. She was about to cry with him; she felt miserable hearing his precious little baby cry out in discomfort and possible pain without being able to help him out.

"You will be better soon, honey". It was more a reminder to her while taking his son from his chair in the back seat. She practically ran to the counter. "Hi, I need help. He's being with fever for hours and doesn't go away," explained through Gabe's screams. "He doesn't stop crying, he refused to eat, I…"

"It's OK, follow me". The desperation on her voice made the trick. The nurse didn't ask much before guiding her to a separate room. She tried to put Gabriel on the bed, but he was not happy with the approach so she ended up sitting on the furniture with a non-cooperative baby in her lap while the woman checked him. "It appears to be a seasonal virus. For its age and the symptoms, the best for him to be admitted." Sam nodded, noticeable exhausted of the entire situation. The nurse left the room, Samantha focused her attention on the baby that was still professing his discomfort of being ill. She texted her mom and the girls to let them know what happened and the fact that they will remain in the hospital, at least, for the night. When the nurse came back with all the papers to fill and all the material required for administrating the medicines intravenously, she knew wouldn't be pretty. Gabe was not a fan of needles. That was not going to be pleasant.

Clover arrived to the hospital two hours after Sam called them. The situation went from zero to 100 in a couple of hours. Yes, Gabe was strange that morning, but he is a baby, he is supposed to be weird about everything. She packed some things for them, most of them, being Gabe's toys and clothes for its time in the hospital. She knew Sam was stress before all of this, so Clover was worried for her. Not knowing what to expect, she arrives to the room and knock a couple of times before hearing the faint voice of Sam from the other side. She found mother and son cuddle to each other. The bed was empty. Sam was on the couch with the little Gabe into her arms, wrapped on a blanket.

"Hey, Sammy" she seemed so tired that Clover was taken a back. "How is Gabe?"

"Better; at least he's not crying" the blonde-haired girl left the purse next to the chair. "I tried to put him on the bed, but he had another plans".

"Makes sense. He's sick; this little angel only wants to be in momma's arms". Her intention was to make her smile, but Sam's expression didn't change as she expected. Her lower lip started to tremble; her eyes were ready to release the tears hidden in them. "Sam?"

"It's too much, Clover. It's too much. I'm not enough".

"Sam, come on, don't say that"

"I know there is a lot of single mothers out there, raising their kids, no matter what, but sometimes, I feel like…" her voice broke while the tears ran freely from her eyes. "The fact that I know he wants to be here for Gabe, it just make me feel worse about how I'm feeling"

"How do you feel?"

"Ungrateful, scared, overwhelm…guilty because he's doing his part and I'm just here, not being enough. I'm terrified that when he get out, will find the mess I am"

"Samantha Simpson, you got to be kidding me. What are you talking about? You have doing more than fine. You work, excel in your projects, love Gabe beyond what I could even understand and share moments with your partner in the process"

"What if that changes when he is release?

"You want him to stay in prison?" she was more than confused. She thought that the top priority is for Tim to be free.

"No, I don't mean it like that. It's just…what if something change when we're out? What if it's not what we are expecting? What if…?"

"Do you love Tim, Sam?"

"I do" Clover smiled at her.

"And I know, even if I don't like to admit it, that he loves both of you more than anything. That should be enough. What are you feeling right now is valid, it's OK to wonder this things, it means that is important to you. You love Tim and Gabe; you want this to work." Sam looked at her son, sound sleep in her arms. She was feeling insecure about many things, the love she had for his son and boyfriend was not part of them. "I think you should have this discussion with Tim"

"I know, but I don't want to compromise his time with Gabe"

"Well, you too are a couple. You do need time together"

Sam nodded. Guided by her expression, Clover knew it was not part of her immediate plans. She looked at little Gabe, the little sweet angel that so many joy has brought with his arrival. Clover wanted them to be happy and in the best shape possible. Her intervention was required.

He was exhausted. His new routine gave her the amount of time necessary to eat and sleep. He was determined to be out as soon as possible and be with her family. Since he knew about the new release date, he has being impatient, anxious, waiting and sensing as the day didn't past as fast as they should. He knew that they have many things to plan and coordinate. They will move out, he will be concentrated looking for a job, managing Gabe's schedule, planning their future together. He is not naïve; things will be difficult and unexpected. They had a child, but never experienced the beautiful bliss of dating as a regular couple. One of his biggest fears is to disappoint her when they get together for good. He was working on himself to be the man his family need. It's midnight, it would be in his best interest to sleep.

"What is the matter? He must be sleep"

"I don't care!" Tim frowned, recognizing the voices. The illumination changed when his cell was open. "Get up, Scam!"

"What the hell? Clover, it's midnight, something happen?"

"A lot of things happened and I need to negotiate here. That's why Jerry is with me". Tim looked at Lewis, but found nothing more that confusion. "Gabriel is in the hospital"

"What?! Why?!" Asked both men at the unison.

"He caught a virus; he will be fine. That's not my point" The blonde haired girl looked at Jerry. "This is an emergency and it was impossible to contact this man to let him know what was happening"

"Clover, he is in prison; he's not supposed to have a phone or any type of contact with the world whenever he want"

"But he's a father and a boyfriend. He needs to have something; at least a little more of time"

"Extended time of visit is only for married couples."

"For God sake, Jerry! They have a child!" Tim was overwhelm by the news. He felt extremely guilty, knowing that his son was in the hospital and he could not help in any sort. "Sam has a meltdown today, feeling that she is not enough and doesn't have the right to be with her partner because the ridiculous amount of time they had together. She can't even tell him with ease how difficult is to not be able to comment about his baby father. They need more time, Jerry. Visits needs to be split: one for the son and one for the partner".

"Clover…"

"Do not argue with me, Jerry; you know I'm right. They are not allow them to be a normal couple for the whole 'criminal and spy' fiasco."

"Can I least…have some hours with her by video chat?"

"It could be mix: one week by phone, one week in person. For the sake of their relationship and Gabe, this must be allow" It was clear that Jerry was having a hard time with the argument.

"It's not that simple…"

"WOOHP is a homewrecker now? Is that it? It's contributing to the decline of our society? Wants to destroy the family of a little angel?" Jerry sighed with defeat.

"I…I'll see what can I do. I'm not making any promise" Clover was not happy with it. She took her phone, made some clicks and then showed the screen to his boss. It was a video of Sam, holding little Gabe on arms, wrap in blankets in the hospital room while she comforted him with sweet words. The baby was noticeable uncomfortable and scared of the tube that was on his little arm.

"How can you sleep at night?" Tim got closer and saw the image of the two persons he loves the most in such sad situation. He felt so guilty.

"Can I least make a call now?" Clover looked at Jerry.

"Do not say no. Do not!"

"Five minutes, now. I will be dealing with the rest in the morning." Sam's best friend went to the chat and initiated a call. Tim took the phone and wait until his girlfriend appeared on screen.

"Sorry, Clover, I just put him…Wait, Tim? How do you…?

"Hi, my love. I heard about Gabe; I was grant a few minutes to call you. Is everything in order?

"He's better now. He wake up a while ago and eat something." he smiled sadly. He knew there was not much he could say to make the situation better, at least not for now.

"Even though I'm not there, I want you to know that I love you both and my mind is always with you. We're going to make this work" She smiled with sadness, as it didn't believe it completely. "I mean it, Sam. We will make it work" Her tired expression said a lot to him. For the first time since they started dating, he genuinely feared losing her. "I love you"

"I love you too" It was brief, but meaningful to understand how necessary is to meet her and talk, besides Gabe's topics. They had so many topics on hold and was time to start discussing it. The screen went black. Tim returned the cellphone to its owner.

"For the record, I'm doing this for her. For some unknown reason, she loves you and as a best friend, I want her to be happy".

"Thank you, Clover. Thank you for everything" Even though they are not each other favorite person, he appreciated the blonde girl and all she have done for Sam and Gabe so far. What she just did meant a lot to him.

"You're welcome" the young woman left the place with Jerry, leaving Tim in the darkness of his cell. He felt empty by the feeling of being failing more than expected.

So…I'm back, almost two years later and probably with my rusty narrative English. I'm so sorry, life happened and focused on other projects. Thanks to Cresenta's Lark, Samfan101, Athena Katorea Knightstar, A-chan32 and pixiblue for the reviews on the previous update.

Hi! It's possible that on the future I write more stories about them. They are an interesting couple and I think they need more fanfics about them. Thank you for the review, I hope you like this update as well.

I'm still working on some work I hope to publish over here, on the other platform and some original novels to the public. Still, I hope to be present over here. Thank you very much and once again, sorry, for the huge gap between updates.

Best regards!
