Hello and welcome back to another chapter of this series! I hope you enjoy it!
I don't own RWBY, please support the official release.
3rd person POV
Beacon was abuzz with activity at the moment, students were checking their gear to make sure all was in pristine order and preparing for the moment most of them have spent a majority of their lives to achieve. Make it to Beacon academy. Sure, they arrived here, their accomplishments at their previous schools saying it all, however, Beacon still had one more trick up its sleeve for its future Huntsmen, the initiation exam.
For some this was a surprise, Beacon never advertised this in their qualifications to even attend classes which threw many of the kids here for a loop. However, for others, they knew something like this would come.
"So this is what dad meant about a secret test." Ruby Rose spoke to here sisters.
"Yeah, it seems so." Blake said this time. Checking over her weapon, Gambol Shroud. The weapon was a design Ruby and her worked on together when she had to forge her weapon. Ruby was the main designer of the weapon, taking what Blake wanted in a weapon and with her prodigious skills in weaponry, crafted a design that was truly ambitious.
"Well, let's just hope that this won't be to difficult." Weiss spoke this time, also going over her weapon, Myrtenaster. Just like the others, she too went to Ruby to have her weapon designed. They spent hours pouring over all the details that Weiss wanted in this weapon, but it was well worth it. Though simple in design, it packs a mean punch and fits Weiss perfectly.
"I'm sure it won't be to difficult, we trained to long for something like this to defeat us." Yang added, looking over her weapon, Ember Celica. Just like the rest of her sisters, Yang too went to Ruby to help make her weapon. While Yang knew exactly what she wanted, hers took the most time to design. The compactness of it was a true test of Ruby's and hers skills as blacksmiths and engineers, but after countless hours, they were finally able to get a design. Two gauntlets that punch with tremendous force, annihilating anything in its way. An absolute perfect weapon for the brawler of the team.
They all nod at Yang's reassuring words, making a final test before standing up and preparing to leave for the designated place they were supposed to go. That was, until they saw Jaune walking about trying to team up with people and chose to stay and watch.
It was honestly quiet hilarious for the four girls, watching him go around to recruit different people to join his team, all the while failing spectacularly at it.
"You know, I almost feel bad for him." Yang chuckled out to her sisters. The rest developed smiles at that, agreeing with Yang wholeheartedly. They continued to watch him until he approached a red headed girl who looked like she meant business.
"Say, doesn't she look familiar?" Weiss questioned, the others looked close, trying to find any clues of where they might of seen the girl before.
Blake snapped her fingers and spoke in realization "She's from that cereal box! You know that one with the little pumpkin marshmallows inside?" The others too gained looks realization at hearing her response. They knew she looked familiar!
Jaune turned around "Thank you! I knew she looked familiar for a reason!" Jaune thanked Blake. Blake was surprised for a second until she realized she said that a little too loud, gaining a small blush of embarrassment. The others just smirked a little bit at her embarrassed figure but they didn't press it. Instead they turned towards Jaune and the unnamed girl and walked over to them.
Walking along the way, Weiss spoke "Say, what is your name? We have always wondered why you were on that box." She said, the four of them stopping in front of the two.
The girl looks their way "My name is Pyrrha Nikos, it's a pleasure to meet you all." The now named Pyrrha said with a small bow.
The girls gave polite nods to Pyrrha, but Yang asked a question "Why are you on those boxes anyway? What did you do to get in them." She asked, quite curious as to how she got on them. The others were just as curious and looked to Pyrrha for an answer.
Pyrrha rubbed her arm and spoke "Have you heard of the Mistrial Regional Tournament?" She asked them all. Blake snapped her fingers again "Oh yeah, I do remember that stuff. Some people from Signal showed us some highlights of them." She said, and then looked at Pyrrha again "Did you win it or something? Going to be honest, I wasn't really paying attention when they showed me." The others nodded at her statement.
Pyrrha just continued to rub her all the while speaking "Yeah, four years in a row now, yay." She finished, her voice getting smaller with every word she spoke. The others looked at her in surprise, that was indeed quiet the achievement.
"You must be really good at fighting then." Jaune said this time. Phrrya just nodded at that, with Jaune's smile growing even more "All the more reason for us to team up, with yours and mine brawn, no Grimm will be able to stand in our way." He said, throwing an arm around her, all the while imagining the two of them standing victorious on a pile of Grimm.
Pyrrha just gained a small blush at the close contact that Jaune had initiated "I'll think about it." She told the blonde boy. Jaune seemed really surprised at that, not expecting her to actually agree with him.
"Oh, well... that's great! You and me are going to do amazing together! I can already see it!" With that, Jaune turned around with his arm still around Pyrrha, walked off all the while talking about their strategy. Pyrrha just turned her head and sent a small wave at the four sisters and turned back around.
Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang just looked at each other, completely confused as to what just happened. They continued to look at one another, until as one they just shook their shoulders and turned back around, not thinking anything else of the conversation they just had.
They sat back down where they originally were and continued to look over their equipment, a habit drilled into them by both Taiyang and Qrow. They continued to do this all the while talking amongst each other until they heard a voice over the intercom.
"Will all first year students report to the designated area for the initiation to begin." With that, they got up and headed outside, ready for anything that will be thrown at them.
Ruby's POV
We stand at the cliffs overlooking the Emerald Forest, it's vast expanse simply mesmerizing to the mind. Hundreds of thousands of trees stretch from the base of the cliffs to the edge of the horizon, hiding the creatures of darkness within.
Yang, Blake, Weiss and I were currently doing some stretches to get limbered up for the trial to come. We even inspired others to do so as well. We sat in silence while doing so, minding our own business. Though not everyone was, as I have spotted at least five different people sneak looks our way, trying to be sneaky about it. Jokes on them, enough people have stolen looks at us at Signal to the point that it became a seventh sense for us to know when someone was ogling at us.
I can't say I blame them though, we do look really good. Enough so that I've stolen a few looks myself. I mentally slap myself, now wasn't the time to get lost in beauty, we have a test to pass.
We continued stretching until Professors Ozpin and Goodwitch showed up. We got up on our feet and waited for them to tell us what we needed to do.
Professor Ozpin looked around at all of us and spoke "Good, you're all here. Please, step on these platforms at the edge of the cliff." He told us. Once everyone was standing on their own platform, Ozpin again addressed us "To give a brief overview on what is going to happen, you are going to be launched off these platforms and land in the forest below. Upon entering, the first person you make eye contact with is going to be your partner here at Beacon for the years to come." He finished.
I'm going to be honest, my heart did drop at that last tidbit of information, but it shouldn't be so bad, we do have that sensing ability of ours after all.
Professor Ozpin then stepped back and let Professor Goodwitch explain the rest "In the forest, you will be placed against hordes of Grimm, they are not your primary target." She said, looking at all of us "There is a building inside this forest, your objective is to find this place and retrieve a relic from it. Once you retrieve said relic, you are to make your way back here and wait for the other students to complete their tests. Any questions? Good, now prepare yourself." She finished her statement and stepped to were Professor Ozpin was.
I heard Jaune speak from beside me, but I've tuned him out, the only thing that I can hear right now is the beating of my heart and the breathing of my lungs. I was hyper focused on the test ahead, nothing else dominated my mind other than finding one of my sisters as fast as I can.
I got into a ready position, waiting for the launch platform to live up to its name and send me into the forest below. I wouldn't have to wait long, because out of the corner of my eye, I saw the first person be launched.
It was a slow progress with it only launching us individually, but it soon made its way to me. I double checked my stance and waited for my takeoff to come.
As soon as I thought that, I was then launched, scoring above the forest below me. It was honestly a beautiful sight, the countless trees looking absolutely stunning from this altitude. But it wasn't long before gravity took back over and sent me careening to the canopy below.
I take out Crescent Rose and fully extend it. Once I breached the top of the trees, I swung Crescent Rose and snagged a tree branch. It broke, of course, over 500 pounds of metal descending this fast has a tendency to do that to brittle tree branches, but it did slow me down.
I continued my descent, snagging and breaking branches all the way down, until I finally neared the ground. I retracted the blade of my weapon and slammed the pole part of it into the ground, stopping the rest of the momentum I had.
I swing around Crescent Rose for a tiny bit before I land on my feet and take it from the ground. A perfect landing if I had to say so.
I immediately use my aura sense ability to find were the others were, thankfully they were all within range and so I don't have blindly look for them. It seems that Weiss is the closest to me and is already making her way over with Blake and Yang doing the same for each other. I decide that I would meet Weiss halfway there and take off towards her.
Yang's POV
After a spectacular landing, I used my aura sense to find out who was the closest to me. All three of them were within range, however, Weiss's was quite faint but it was quickly brighting as she made her way towards Ruby. Seeing that Blake was the closest towards me, I took off to meet her half way, praying that she or I don't make eye contact with anyone else along the way. It isn't like I wouldn't mind being partnered up with someone else, it's that I would vastly prefer to be with one of my sisters.
I move to intercept Blake, passing by trees with great speed all the while. I still can't fully believe it, we spent so long working towards this goal, that now that we're here, it doesn't seem real. Like we didn't spend nearly a decade to achieve this. It only feels like yesterday that we were all little girls playing around in the yard with mom and dad. Where has the time gone?
I stop in the middle of an opening in the forest, Blake should arrive soon, and this is a great place to get our bearings straight and come up with a plan.
I was just about to sit down when I heard the sound of bushes rattling all around me. It seems like I've got company.
"Alright, show yourselves you ugly bastards." I exclaim to the foliage around, not at all bothered that I'm surrounded.
Just like I thought, out from the bushes came Grimm. Ursa, to be precise.
I get in a combat stance and wait for the first one to charge me. I didn't have to wait long, as the one to the left of me charged. The pattern was easily predictable and I sidestepped the charge, landing a devastating punch to the side of its face. It goes tumbling and rolls a few meters away. It stays down for a moment, utterly stunned, before it lets out a hate filled roar and charges at me again.
I sense the other Ursa charge from behind, trying to out flank me. However, they are easily predicted and when they are just a few feet from me I jump back and let them clash into each other. That disorients them quite a bit, and I intend to not let the advantage go to waste.
I blitz them at high speed crash into them with great force, sending them sprawling back. The one I first hit gets up later than the other Ursa and I can see it's amour has been cracked. It was honestly quite pathetic.
"You know, if you had any kind of sense, you could of probably hit me already, but you guys aren't the smartest, aren't yo..."
From the air I see a few strands of something golden falling to the ground. The Ursa and I just stand there, not moving a muscle. All I could do was smile, holding barely contained rage.
It seems that the Ursa felt the change of atmosphere as they make themselves slightly smaller, there going to need it for what I'm about to do to them.
I look to the Grimm, my eyes now a blazing inferno of red, my smile completely wiped from my face. I rush them at devastating speed, intent on making the last few seconds of their life a living hell. I pick up the more injured of the Ursa with one hand, not at all feeling the weight of the large Grimm, and slam it into its buddy. The armor of both Grimm shatter and they both collapse, dead before they even hit the ground.
I watch as they turn to ash, still pissed that they got even a strand of my hair.
"What did they do to make you that mad?" I heard from behind me. I look up and the sneer on my face lessens significantly to a light frown. It seems that my partner is Blake. I just gesture the horrendous sight of my hair laying fallen on the ground, now more depressed than mad. Blake just looks to where I gestured and from the way her eye brows and cat ears shot up, it seems that she understood why I went ballistic. It was no secret whatsoever that I was extremely protective of my hair, only letting Blake, Weiss and Ruby touch it.
Blake spoke again "Did you forget to coat your hair in aura?" She said, cutely tilting her head. That just makes me scratch my head in embarrassment "I thought I coated it, but I guess I didn't get it all." I tell her with an embarrassed chuckle. She just rolls her eyes "You ready to go get these relics?" She asks, and I just nod at her. With that, we take off to complete our objective.
Blake's POV
We have been running for a few minutes, occasionally spotting some Grimm and taking them out. It actually became a little bit of a game between Yang and I to see who could kill the most before we reached the relics, all the while talking about random stuff.
"I still think that the first in the series is better." Yang said from beside of me, punching straight through a Beowulf.
I just roll my eyes "You only say that because it has better smut than the others." I tell her, cutting the head off another.
She blushes at that "I do not!"
I can only smirk at that and point at my cat ears, "Not according to your moans, you don't." I blush a little bit, kinda embarrassed. The amount of times I've heard Ruby, Weiss or Yang 'pleasing' themselves was not funny. Seriously, they need to learn how to be quiet.
Yang's blush goes nuclear, looking away at incredible speed "You have no proof!" She said, trying to defend herself but only succeeding in giving me ammunition. My smile only grew, "Really? You seemed to of forgotten who you were talking too." I said, again pointing at my cat ears.
Yang's face somehow turns even more red, "Also, I am the one that usually does laundry and we both know I have a better sense of smell then you three, also doesn't help when I see mysterious stains on bed sheets sometimes." I tell her, gaining a blush in the process. I'm shameless, but even I have limits. Yang just looked away, completely scarlet at being found out. I do feel a little bad now, so I try to say something to cheer he up "At least, you aren't as bad as Ruby, that girl doesn't know the definition of quite." I tell Yang, my blush growing even more. The amount of times I've almost barged in on Ruby to tell her to quite down could not be understated.
It seems that my plan worked as Yang turns back around, still blushing crimson, but not as embarrassed. She gained a slight smile actually.
I just smile back, "I think we are almost there, I'm pretty sure I see a building in the distance." I tell her, and we continue running, killing Grimm all the way.
We make our way into a clearing and check our surroundings. I was right about seeing a building, as in the middle of the clearing is a run down structure with what appears to be chess pieces on pedestals. I look to Yang who just shrugs and walks towards it without a care in the world. I just follow after her.
When we arrive near them all, Yang turned her head towards me "Any piece you particularly want?" She questions, and I just shrug not really caring all that much "I don't really care, but I guess the white knight? It's my favorite piece to whip you all at chess so I guess that one." I tell Yang with a smile, who just rolls her eyes. "You and me both know that you whoop none of us at chess." I again just roll my eyes as Yang walks up to a pedestal holding the piece and takes it.
"So, what do we do now?" She asked, I was about to answer but at that moment we heard the sound of bushes rattling. We looked over to see what was happening and witness a utterly bewildering sight. Out from the brush came a red head girl riding on top of a Ursa of all things. From behind her, we see a raven haired youth walk out from behind the girl, not looking to pleased at all.
The girl was happily singing to herself until the Ursa collapsed underneath her and started to dissipate into the air. From the frown on her face, she wasn't happy that her ride had killed over on her.
Yang and I lust look at each other, utterly confused at what had just transpired in front of us until a smile appeared on her face "That remind you of the time we all went Boarbatusk riding?" Yang asked me, a look of nostalgia caressing her face. I just smile at that, it was a fun time, but one we never got to do again. The moment dad found out, he went ballistic on us all. Can't say I blame him either, we could of easily got killed then, but I did have to admit that it was a lot of fun.
The black haired one picks the other one up and proceeds to walk over towards the pedestals, with the red head spotting Yang and I "Oh! Hello there! Is this where we get the relics!" She yelled over to us. Yang and I just shrug at that "If these chess pieces are the relics, than yeah." Yang answered the girl in question.
The girl then proceeded to run up towards the pieces and picks up a white rook all the while exclaiming "I'm Queen of the Castle! I'm Queen of the Castle!"
We can only blink at the girls energy, she is somehow even more hyper than Ruby, and that's hard feat to beat. She then turns towards us with a big smile on her face "Hi! My name is Nora and this is Ren. What is your girls names." The now named Nora said, while tilting her head. The now named Ren comes up from behind Nora, a hand rubbing his face in frustration. "Nora, give them time to breath." He said, taking his hand off his face and now looking at us "Sorry about that, she can get... excited a lot of the time."
Calling her excited didn't do her justice, hyper would be the better term for what she is. "My name is Yang and this is Blake, it's nice to meet you all." Yang said, holding out a hand to shake. Ren shook Yangs out stretched hand and just when he was about to speak, we heard the sound of a person screeching. We all looked up an saw that it was Jaune flying through the air. He landed with a painful thud about 30 yards away, not even trying to catch himself. He got up with a groan, his aura taking the brunt of the damage it seemed.
Yang was again about to speak, but we heard another yell, this one, however, sounded like it was having a much better time than Jaune. We all looked to were we heard it and saw... is that Ruby? There's no other person that I know of that wears a so called 'combat skirt' of that color so it probably was.
She took out her weapon, extending it out to everything but the blade. She was descending at a rapid pace, but Yang and I didn't attempt to help her, completely confident that she has a plan to catch herself.
It seems that we were correct in our assumption, as a complete contrast to Jaune, Ruby actually catches herself form impacting the ground. She slammed the pole of her weapon into the ground, completely cutting all momentum she had. As soon as her weapon made contact with the ground, she spun herself around on the pole, doing twists and twirls, preventing her from crashing into the ground. Why did she look like she's done that before?
I shake the thought out of my head as I call out to her "Hey Ruby, you alright?" She turns her head my direction upon hearing my voice and the smile on her face brings one to mine as well. She never fails to make us smile.
"Hey Blake, hey Yang! Have you two got your relics yet?" She questioned, with Yang responding "Yeah, we did, it's those chess pieces right over there." Yang called out to Ruby, pointing out the relics.
"Say, Rubes, where is Weiss?" Yang asked our younger sister. Ruby looked around, looking completely confused as to why Weiss wasn't with her "I don't know, I could of sworn that..." she never got to finish her sentence as we heard yet another scream.
I looked up and saw that Weiss was falling. She could of probably landed properly, but it seemed like she didn't have as good as a position as Ruby. I didn't want to take the chance, so I decided that I would catch her. The look on her face would be reason enough to do so anyway.
With a smile, I jump up towards her with my arms open. When I reached the apex of my jump, she crashed into my arms and sent us down to the ground. I right myself mid air and land a pitch perfect landing, not hurting her or myself whatsoever. The look on Weiss's face was absolutely priceless, completely confused as to what happened. I couldn't keep the chuckle from escaping me.
Weiss just looks at me and with a serious eye roll she speaks "You know I would of landed safely, right?" She said, I just smiled at her "Maybe, but your screams were a call of rescue to my noble heart." I told her in a exaggerated tone of voice. She again just rolled her eyes "My brave hero." She said and leaned up and gave me a peck on the cheek. She's kissed me before on the cheek but I wasn't expecting it here, so it was no surprise that I my face warmed a little at the action.
She must of noticed my blush as a predatory smirk appeared on her face "What, doesn't my brave hero deserve a reward for her daunting rescue?" She questioned with a dramatic tone of voice, her smirk nearly splitting her face.
Not wanting to be outdone by my twin I fired right back "Oh how right your are, it was indeed such a hard rescue, but don't you think your knight in shining armor deserves more than such a chaste kiss?" I shot right back at her.
It was something Weiss and I have done on occasion, when one of us embarrassed each other, we would try to embarrass the other right back. The one who backed down first won, but we haven't done that in a while.
Weiss gained a blush on her cheeks and slightly looked away, I thought I won but her response killed that thought "Oh my brave knight you are correct, you so deserve more." She said, caressing my cheek with her hand all the while having a glint in her eyes. My eyebrows shot up to the top of my forehead, not expecting the comeback whatsoever. She looked over towards where the chess pieces are and her smirk returned. I got a bad feeling about this.
"Unfortunately my fall has left me quiet winded and I'm afraid I'm unable to walk." She said throwing an arm on forehead. "I would be oh so grateful if my daunting hero could take me to those pedestals so I can retrieve a relic and complete the test." She said in a melodramatic voice. "I promise to be more liberal with my kiss if you choose to accept." Weiss said, caressing my cheek once more.
Her and my blush only expanded but I refuse to back down. "Oh my poor 'Ice Queen'" she gained an annoyed look at the nickname "you've worked so hard, please, sit back while I carry you to the pedestals." With that, I turn around and walk onward. I look down at Weiss whose face was covered in complete surprise, it seems like she thought I would've backed down then.
Ruby and Yang were barely holding in their laughter while Jaune, Ren and Nora were looking on a little awkward. Well, more so Jaune and Ren, Nora was eating all this up. Going to be honest, I completely forgot that they were here.
I walk up the steps and place Weiss down on the floor. With a smirk, I speak "I have completed the mission I was burdened with, my deer 'Ice Queen'" again, an annoyed look spread across Weiss's face "where shall this humble servant receive her kiss this time." I said with a small bow, my smirk refusing to leave my face. Weiss, for her part, was holding it in quiet well, but I could tell her resolve was breaking. Just as I thought I'd won Weiss broke that illusion "You may come and kiss your 'Queen' on the lips. Such a perilous journey deserves only the best rewards after all." She fired right back.
Weiss chose her words deliberately, making me either back down or actually try to kiss her. The look on her face told me that she thought she'd won, but I still had one more gambit up my sleeve.
With my face burning hot, I approached her. Weiss's eyebrows shot all the way up to her hairline in surprise, not expecting me to approach her at all.
"Thank you your majesty for such a great gift." I say as I clasp my hands on her cheeks. My only hope at the moment is that she backs away right now, because if she doesn't then I'm going to lose.
I very slowly approach her with my lips, my heart beating a mile a minute. With every inch forward the tempo increased tenfold. I was mere inches away before I pulled back, my face burning crimson, completely embarrassed. More than anything though I was annoyed that I lost to her, I had a three win game streak as well damn it!
Weiss's face was also scarlet in color but her grin was the most noticeable feature on her right now with it nearly splitting her face. She's never going to let me forget this, is she?
I hear an applause from behind me and see that Ruby and Yang were clapping there hands, absolutely enjoying every moment that happened. I only roll my eyes and hold my arm in embarrassment, while Weiss does a deep bow at the waist. She picks herself back up from her bow and throws a wink at me. Definitely not going to live this down.
Weiss approaches the pedestal containing the other white knight and picks it up. She turns around and throws another wink my way before goin to Ruby and Yang. With a sigh, I follow after her.
I'm going to try a two parter this time, so let's see how that goes.
I'm going to be honest and say I'm not that happy with the chapter, it feels to choppy to me. But if you like it please let me know and if you didn't, also let me know. It only helps.
Please leave a review, you may think of something that I haven't even considered and it more than likely is better than what I have planned, so please, review!
Also, this story is now on Ao3 and Wattpad under the same story name, though for some reason I can't find it on the latter sight. So if you do find it, please let me know.
That's all I can think about right now, so until next time and have a great day!
