Hello and welcome back to another chapter!
I don't own RWBY, please support the official release.
Weiss's POV
My heart was nearly pounding out of my chest at what just happened. I was just playing with Blake and thanking her when I gave her that peck, I wasn't expecting all that to happen and for it to escalate that quickly. But, I at least won our little game so that's nice. I'm grateful she pulled back when she did because if she came even an inch closer I would of bowed out.
I shake the thoughts from my head and make my way over towards Ruby and Yang who were eating this all up. I step in front of Ruby and bonk her on the head "Why didn't you tell me you were going to jump." I tell her while crossing my arms.
All was going amazingly until we hitched a ride on that Nevermore. We met up about halfway towards each other, killed some Grimm and then proceeded to get lost. That last thought brung the blush back to my face, I was insistent that I knew where we were going, only for us to walk around in circles. The look of 'I told you so' Ruby had after I admitted that I had no clue where to go was frustrating but more cute than anything. At least it has motivated me to get better a navigating so that it doesn't happen again.
When she suggested to hitch a ride on that Nevermore I thought she was joking at first. That was, until she gained a dangerous smirk and used her semblance to blitz the thing. It wasn't a fun time getting on its back but I did have to concede that it did get us here.
I continue to stare at my precious little sister who just looks away from me, devolving a blush of her own "Sorry Weiss, I thought you heard me say jump." I just roll my eyes at that "You do realize that we were hundreds of feet in the air and we were going pretty fast, when you would of said that right? You yelling would of sounded like a whisper at the speeds we were going." I tell her, bonking her on the head again.
She just rubs the spot where a hit her and sends a halfhearted glare my way. I can only smile at that and was about to utter out an apology of my own when we heard the snapping of tress in the distance.
We all turned towards the source of the sound and spied Pyrrha hightailing it into the clearing like the forces of hell were on her heel. Not even five seconds later we got our answer as to why she was running.
"That's a large Death Stalker." I heard Yang mutter from beside me. The thing was truly massive. It towered over all of us and its thick bone armor made ratcheting sounds as it moved. All I could do was nod at her statement and take out my weapon and prepare for a battle.
From beside me I see Ruby take out her weapon as well and aim at the scorpion Grimm and let loose a fire dust round at it. The bullet impacts the side of the Grimm's head at super sonic speeds, stopping it in its tracks. The grin from Ruby was predatory and I couldn't help but have one of my own.
The large Grimm turns its head our way and with a screech, charges us. Ruby nods at Yang who nods right back and charges the Death Stalker. Already knowing what to do, I charge right behind Yang, waiting for my opportunity to strike.
The Death Stalker lashes out with its tail at Yang. She made no attempt to dodge it as she stopped in her tracks and catches the Grimm's tail. She then slams the tail on the ground, holding it in place.
The large Grimm was caught by surprise, not expecting someone so small in comparison to catch its truly gargantuan tail. It recovers quickly though and lashes out with a pincer to stop Yang from having a hold of its tail, but before it could even get halfway it gets intercepted by a red blur, that soon retreated afterwards, completely batting the pincer away.
I arrive at that time and slam Myrtenaster into the things tail, causing a glacier of ice to encapsulate it. The Grimm tries to pull its tail out but it was futile, it's completely stuck. It lashed out again with its other pincer at Yang who again just stands her ground with her arms crossed, not bothered at all. Before it could impact Yang, a rope raps around the Death Stalkers pincer and with a pull it is slammed to the ground.
I look to the side and see that it was Blake using Gambol Shroud that pulled the pincer down like that. The blade itself was anchored down into the ground while Blake had a vice like grip on the rope. I can only smile, Ruby's weaponry engineering abilities is absolutely amazing.
The large Grimm lost its balance at that, crashing down on some of its legs. It tries to fix itself by trying to pull its pincer free from the rope of Blake's weapon, but it was all for naught, Blake had an iron grip and she wasn't letting go.
Seeing that it was a futile endeavor, it lashes out with its one remaining pincer at Yang again and just like before, Yang stands there, bored out of her mind it looks like.
Before it could even near Yang, the red blur returns again and impacts the pincer. Coming out of her semblance, Ruby takes Crescent Roes and slams the blade straight the pincer, burying it into the ground.
The Death Stalker lets out a screech of pain and hatred as it tries to free its limbs from their prisons. It trashes and bucks but it was all for not, Blake's grip was like a vice, Ruby's blade is buried to far into the ground and the ice is like an impenetrable prison, it's not going to escape.
I rush past Yang and towards the Grimm and jump onto its face, looking into its hate filled eyes. I take my rapier and stab right through one of its many eyes and let loose another burst of ice dust, coating the entirety of its insides with bone chilling ice.
It's completely motionless, probably dead, but to make sure, Yang takes a great leap into the air and slams down on top of it with a devastating punch, completely shattering the Grimm into icy shards. In all, it took us about thirty seconds to take the Death Stalker down. Not to bad if I say so myself.
I walk up towards Yang and give her a hug as congratulations. I do the same for Blake and Ruby who in turn give me one as well. It wasn't long until it turned into a group hug with laughter flowing freely between us.
We were enjoying the hug until Blake turned her attention towards the sky, her cat ears jumping in alarm "Jump!" She said as she jumped back. We didn't question her as we all leapt back ourselves. About a second later, feathers slam into where we were. As one, we looked up into the sky and spot the Nevermore that Ruby and I jumped from flying in the air, it's hate filled screech echoing out to us.
"There you are." I hear Ruby mutter before looking to Yang and then back to the Nevermore. Yang's grin and nod was all the answer that was needed. Ruby sent one back before walking up beside our older sister.
Ruby waved both Blake and I over, sending a vicious smirk at the Nevermore. We both gain ones ourselves, probably already guessing her plan.
"Let me guess, you take Blake and I into your semblance and then Yang launches us at the Nevermore?" I question Ruby who just nods. My smirk grows even bigger, this poor son of a bitch won't know what hit him.
Blake loosens herself up a bit while Ruby uses her semblance, turning herself into nothing but rose petals. Blake and I walk up to the storm of petals and allow ourselves to be taken into them.
Being inside Ruby's semblance is honestly really funky, you are able to see in all directions even though you have no eyes to speak of but that is just her semblance. It's honestly a really cool semblance and its speed couldn't be matched by any of us. It has allowed her to beat us plenty of times before and has helped us react to foes who have a greater speed than us. She really is the best.
Yang 'grabs' hold of the storm of roes petals with her aura, and like a champion shot putter, she sends us sailing towards the Nevermore in the air. It doesn't see us approach and as we were right above it, Ruby deactivates her semblance, leaving us free falling in the air.
Ruby aims for the neck of the Grimm while Blake and I go for one of its wings each. We slam down onto them with great force with our weapons extended. Blake and I stab right through the wings of the Nevermore, cutting all momentum of its wings while Ruby stabs right through the neck, sending us plummeting towards the ground.
It let out a pain filled screech as it plunged towards the ground. From my view I saw Yang was already below us ready to take another great leap into the air. Once we were about 200 feet from the ground, Yang jumps with her right hand cocked, ready for a devastating uppercut.
Before it met its demise, the Nevermore let out one more hate filled screech before Yang landed a fatal uppercut. With all our weapons prescient on grounding the Nevermore and with Yang wanting nothing but to send it back into the air, our clash was fatal for the once proud Grimm. When Yang landed her uppercut on the things beak, its head snapped back at a 90 degree angle and with Ruby's scythe going the complete opposite direction, the Grimm was easily decapitated.
When we almost hit the ground we jumped of the already dissipating Grimm and landed safely. Yang soon came back down and also landed safely. We just stood there for a moment, admiring our work. We looked to one another, soft smiles on our faces, and nodded at one another, savoring the sisterly bonding time we just had. That was fun.
We were broke out of our trance by the sound of applause. We looked towards the sound and saw that Nora was jumping up and down clapping her hands like it was the only thing she knew to do. Jaune, Pyrrha and Ren just stood there dumbfounded, more so Jaune than the other two. If his mouth dropped any further than it would probably drop off his face.
Nora came careening towards us at a pretty impressive speed and just managed to stop herself from slamming into Yang. "That was so cool! The way you four handled those two Grimm was amazing! The teamwork you guys showed was immaculate! It's like you four have fought with each other your whole lives!" She exclaimed, waving her hands in any which direction.
All I could do was look away, somewhat embarrassed by the praise though immensely enjoying it at the same time.
"Thank you for the compliments." Ruby said while embarrassingly chuckling.
The others soon followed after her, completing us on a job well done. The only thing we could do was smile as we headed back towards the cliffs victorious and in high spirits. This is going to be a great time, I can feel it.
Ozpin's POV
"That was mighty impressive." I said to my two companions beside of me. Winter joined soon after the students were launched. We watched the whole fight between the four sisters and the Grimm on my scroll. It seems Glynda and Winter agreed with me if their expressions were anything to go by.
"Indeed it was. It's one thing to hear and read about their prowess, but it's another to actually watch it first hand." Glynda stated with a smile forming on her face "If that was any indication of their skills, then they are going to do amazing here." She finished, the smile now showing brightly.
Winter continued to stare at the screen with looks of relief and what seemed to be pride. Those big sister instincts were still kicking strong. "The way they took those Grimm down, you would expect that out of a team of full fledged Hunters who have been training together for years." She said with a shake of her head, still mesmerized at the skill the four have shown. "Give them some more proper training and some field experience and in a few years they will stand as the elite of the elite of Hunters." Winter finished, a look of reverence spreading across her face.
"I intend to agree with you Winter, something is telling me these four are going to be the best Beacon has ever produced." I heard Glynda say to Winter, a look of pure joy on her face. Those four are definitely going to be her favorite students, that's for sure.
'Now, the question is, are any of them the right choice to inherit the Fall Maidens powers.' I thought to my self with a look of contemplation spreading across my face. Ever since Amber has been put into that coma by those unknown assailants with half of her power being stolen in the process, Grimm attacks have become more common place. It was a miracle that Qrow was around to stop the full power from being stolen, brother gods only know what chaos Salem could cause with that kind of power.
I shake the thoughts from my head, we still have a long time to think about the Fall Maiden situation. I still have to come to the decision of the inheritance Winter Maidens powers. I look over to Winter at that thought, James put in a lot of faith that she would be a great inheritor of the power, and from what I've seen so far, he's correct. I still need more reassurance, it's why she is here in the first place, but if things keep going the way they've been, then Winter may just join our little shadow war against Salem.
But, there is still time for those big decisions to be made, because right now I have to make some new teams. I close the scroll and look to my two companions "Come, it's time to make some new teams." I tell them and with a nod from them both, we head off towards Beacon.
Ruby's POV
"Will Jaune Arc, Nora Valkyrie, Pyrrha Nikos, and Lei Ren please step forward." Professor Ozpin spoke and with his words the four he called for stepped forward. They stood straight and looked forward as Professor Ozpin stood in front of them, looking them all over.
"For retrieving the white rook pieces you are now under the name team JNPR, lead by Jaune Arc." He told them. I saw Jaune tense a lot at that and I can't blame him, being a team leader must be really stressful.
After giving a slight bow of respect to Professor Ozpin, they turned around and walked off the stage, meaning the only people left are...
"Will Ruby Rose, Weiss Xiao Long, Blake Xiao Long and Yang Xiao Long please step forward."...us. I could barely contain my excitement as I looked at my sisters and by the looks of it they barely could either. We're on the same team! WE'RE ON THE SAME TEAM! I nearly shouted out in joy at that. It was a big fear of mine that we wouldn't be on the same team, that we would be separated, but that thankfully didn't happen. 'We are together' I thought with great joy. This day couldn't of been better even if it tried.
As one, we walked up the stairs and came to a stop in front of Professor Ozpin who had a great big smile on his face, like he had just won the lottery. I wonder what's got him so happy?
"For retrieving the white knight pieces you are now under the team name RWBY, led by Ruby Rose." He said and my heart stopped for a moment. Me? I'm team leader?
I was in such deep thought that I didn't even register walking off the stage, I was just in such a daze at learning I was made leader. I wasn't for long though, because as soon as we got off stage, the three clomped me in the strongest group hug I ever experienced. I was currently suffocating at the moment because my head was buried deep into Yang's very impressive cleavage. Their arms were bone crushing, expelling any air left in my lungs and into the bottomless ravine that was Yang's breasts.
"Oh Ruby congratulations!" I somehow heard Yang shout.
"You're going to do amazing I can already tell!" Weiss said to me, her arms were wrapped like a vice around my ribs, so much so that I think I actually heard a crack or two.
"So what's your first order as leader?" I heard Blake teasing voice, her grip just as strong as the other two.
"My first order is to let me breath!" I somehow got out, I was starting to see black spots when I was finally let go. I took in a deep breath, now having a new appreciation for breathing.
I glared up at the three of them, a little annoyed at them. They at least had the decency to look embarrassed and mutter an apology to me. My glare soon left my face and was replaced with a smile, no matter how annoyed I try to be with them, it never stays long. Just them being them is enough for it to go away and be replaced with nothing but joy and happiness.
I then brung them into a hug, and they hugged back at a much more manageable force. We stood there for a moment, just enjoying the feeling of one another. We were interrupted by the sound of someone clearing their voice. As we turned to see who it was, we saw that it was Winter.
I stand up a little bit straighter upon seeing her, beat give respect to my future teachers after all. "Sorry about that Professor Schnee, didn't see you there." I said to her, a little embarrassed I didn't hear her coming.
She just smiles at me and holds out her hand, in it was four keys. "It's quiet alright, I was just coming over to give you all your room keys." She said, and with a gesture of her head we all took one for ourselves.
"The keys have your room number engraved into them, so you shouldn't get lost." She tells us, as we inspected them and sure enough, a number was engraved into the key itself. I look to Winter and give a small bow out of thanks "Thank you Professor Schnee." I tell her. From behind me I see the others do a small bow of appreciation themselves. Winter just smiles at us and continues speaking "Classes start in three days, so make sure you have all your stuff in by then." She informs us, again we send a nod of appreciation her way.
Just when I thought we were done, she spoke one more time "One last thing, when class is not in session, please, call me Winter." The others and I just smile at that, it seems that we already have a teacher that likes us! This has been an amazing first day.
With another nod, we turn back and make our way too our new room. It didn't take us long, we were nearly sprinting there in anticipation, with our smiles nearly splitting our faces.
When we finally got to the door we just stared at it for a moment, taking it all in. This is it. Nearly a decade in the making and it all pays off as soon as we step through this door.
My hand was shaking in sheer excitement, we worked so hard for this.
"So, who wants to open the door?" I question my sisters. They all just look at one another and have a silent conversation. A moment later they smile and nod at each other and then look my way.
"I think I speak for us all when I say that our team leader should have the honor to be the first one to open the door." Yang spoke, a soft but gleeful smile on her face. Blake and Weiss just nod at her words with smiles of their own, their eyes full of pride as they looked at me. All I could do was smile back at them, tears from in the corner of my eyes. I nod at them and turn back around and insert the key into the lock. With the sound of lock being undone, I gripped the door handle and pushed in.
The room was bare, for now, at least. It was going to be a tight fit, but we would be able to manage it. I turn back around to my sisters, the greatest gifts I could ever ask for, and with tears in my eyes, I lunge at them and bring them in for a bone crushing hug. They give right back, and I could feel the wetness of tears drop on my outfit. They were tears of happiness, they sung of hardship and loss, but also of happiness. Of strength. Of courage and perseverance. We still had a lot to learn and a long a way to go, but we did it. We made it to Beacon.
Another chapter done!
I'm going to be honest and say, I don't really like doing two parters. This and last chapter easily could of been one big chapter and in my opinion, it would of been better that way. But, I learn as I go, let's hope I don't make the same mistake!
PLEASE leave a review or a comment for my ao3 readers. Half the joy I have from writing this comes from you. Weather it be positive or negative feedback or just ideas you might want to see in the story itself. I want to hear them all, so please shoot something my way.
That is about all I have, so until next time and have a amazing day!
