Pokémon Return of Champion, Chap 3 Hero

"Leave her alone, Drew," A voice called out.

Both May and Drew looked at where the voice was coming from; Drew didn't recognize who it was, but May did; it was a mysterious man who she had seen earlier in the hotel lobby. "Why don't you mind your own business?" Drew shouted at the man.

"Drew, this is my business. Let go of the girl, or you'll regret it." The man threatened.

Drew scoffed, not threatened, at him. "Was that supposed to scare me? Who are you anyway?" Drew asked the man.

"I'm Aaron; you might have heard of me," Aaron replied.

Drew's eyes widened at hearing what the man's name was. Drew had in fact heard of Aaron; he had won multiple leagues and was one of the scariest trainers in the world. Drew masked how scared he was of him. "Hm, I heard of you, and I'm not scared of you," Drew said in a fake tone.

Aaron chuckled "You are a lying piece of shit, I know for a fact you're scared of me. Now let go of the girl, or there will be consequences." Aaron snarled angrily.

Drew flinched at the tone of Aaron's voice and pushed May into Aaron. "Fine, but this is not over." Drew said.

Aaron caught May in his arms. "Are you okay?" Aaron asked her.

May blushed a bright pink. "Yeah, I'm okay. Thanks for helping me, Aaron." She thanked him.

Aaron smiled. "No problem," He said.

Aaron then grabbed her arm and looked for any injuries; all he saw was a bruise on her wrist from how tight Drew was grabbing from earlier, but then he saw a big scar on her arm. "What the hell happened to your arm?" Aaron asked her.

May flinched and pulled her arm away. "Nothing," She was quick to reply.

May had never told anyone about her cutting herself; the only people who knew about this, were her parents and Max, and that was only because her parents were the ones to find her like that. Aaron looked at her concerned, but he didn't push it, He then saw the Pichu that was perched on May's shoulder. "Where do you get that Pich from?" Aaron asked her.

"Oh, this little guy, I found him in the forest injured, and I nursed him back to full health, and now we're best friends, isn't that right, Pichu?" She asked the Pokémon.

"Pich (yes, we are)," Pichu replied while nuzzling May's cheek in affection.

Aaron smiled at the cute scene. Even though he thought May had betrayed him, he couldn't help but smile at the trainer's and Pokémon's bond. "It also reminds me of my friend that left," May said.

This caused Aaron's eyes to widen in surprise, He was just confused; if she had betrayed him, why would she need something to remind her of him? "You're talking about Ash Ketchum?" Aaron asked her.

Now it was May's turn for her eyes to widen in surprise. "Yeah, how do you about him?" May asked him.

"Well, I heard he was a very powerful trainer," He replied.

May looked downcast, she thought this Aaron character might know about Ash. "Yeah, he was, one day he just left," She said, sadness evident in his voice.

Aaron's eyebrows raised in confusion; something about this wasn't adding up. "That's not what I heard," Aaron said.

May looked at Aaron. "What do you mean?" May asked Aaron.

"Well, I heard he was betrayed by all of his friends," Aaron replied.

"Betrayed? Wait, how do you hear this?" May asked him.

"Shit" He thought to himself, not wanting to give away who he is. "I've been in contact with him," He replied.

"You have? How's he doing?" May asked him, hope in her voice.

"He's doing great," He replied.

"Can we talk about him?" May asked him.

"Sure, how about you meet at the bar later?" Aaron asked her.

"Okay, what time?" May asked him.

Aaron gave her time on when they should meet up, and with that, he left, leaving May and her own thoughts to herself, May was interrupted by Max, who had just gotten done registering for the tournament. "Man, that line sure was long," Max commented.

May looked at her brother with excitement in her eyes. "Sis, what's gotten you so excited?" Max asked his sister curiously.

"Max, I just met a guy named Aaron, and he might know something about Ash," May replied.

Max looked excitedly at his sister now. "Wow, really?" Max asked her.

May nodded her head yes in reply. "That's so awesome, sis; maybe we're one step closer to finding out about Ash," Max said.

"Yeah, maybe so," May said, with more and more hope.

May and Max then began making their way back to their hotel, with May telling Max the story about how she met Aaron, and Max was quick to figure out who Aaron was; he had heard that name before and had seen Aaron battle before, and he was a really good battler. May and Max talked about Aaron and other things, until they reached their hotel room, where May went to take a shower, so she could get ready.

Meanwhile, back with Ash

Ash had just arrived back at his hotel room with many thoughts running through his mind. It seemed like May didn't know about that betrayal, but he couldn't figure out how she didn't know about it. "I thought you said you didn't like her?" Lucario asked teasingly, while snickering.

Ash shot his aura Pokémon a glare. "Shut it, Lucario," he said to the Pokémon.

"Seriously, Master, she didn't seem to know about that betrayal," Lucario said to him.

"Yeah, It was weird, she didn't seem to know about the betrayal at all" Ash replied.

"I read her aura, Master Aaron, and it seems she is telling the truth," Lucario told him.

"Yeah, I read her aura too, and it seems like she was telling the truth," Ash replied.

"I just don't know what's going on? Maybe I can get some answers later on tonight," He said.

With that, Ash went into the shower and began getting ready for the bar later on tonight.
