Aoba Johsai Gymnasium
"Come on Iwa, send me another!"
"You sure Leila?"
"Yeah!" She squatted in position
They had two weeks until the Spring Prefecture. The girl's team practice finished an hour ago and Leila wasn't done perfecting her receives yet. The thing is about Aoba Johsai's female team... Mei and Leila were the only third years, and the majority of the rest of them were all first years.
They were still in the learning process, so Mei and Leila really felt the pressure. Many of them played volleyball in middle school, but when it comes to official high school tournaments... were they ready?
"Okay..." He served up the ball as it went flying across the court
"Damn it!" Leila shouted making her nose scrunch missing the ball
"Oh? What do we have here?"
The gym doors opened revealing the cocoa haired brunette.
"Shittykawa, talk some sense into here would ya?" Iwa looked over to his best friend
The force of the following volleyball hitting her in the stomach was enough to make the girl do a backflip, but Leila stood right up after waiting for another one.
"Tooru! Perfect timing!" Leila jumped
"Come on-" She pushed the the pail of volleyballs towards the setter as her eyebrows rose up with a teasing smile trying to string him along
Tooru analyzed the girl head to toe. She had bruises from all the receives. Starting from her arms, going down her legs from diving across the court.
One of the reasons why Tooru and Leila clicked so well was because they put their whole being into the sport. He hated seeing her beautiful body in pain, but Tooru knew that she wouldn't give up. They were very similar in that sense.
"Kay, kay Lei Lei-" The boy grabbed a ball
"But just one-" He winked sticking out his tongue walking to the other side of the court
The setter twirled the ball in his hands stopping it with his palms making Leila furrow in concentration. She knew by his stance that he was going all out.
Tooru threw the ball up in the air and jumped as Leila watched his graceful hands come in contact with the ball.
'It's going right!'
Diving down she received it... but it went out.
The blonde groaned as she watched the multi coloured volleyball bounce towards the wall.
"Nu uh Lei Lei~" Tooru walked over knowing she was going to retaliate for more serves
"I said one-" He bent down offering her a hand up making her sigh
"Fine..."
After Tooru walked her home, Leila went straight upstairs with her volleyball bag and flopped onto her bed. Her muscles were aching, what she needed right now was a nice warm relaxing bath. She groaned hearing her mothers shout's from the bottom of the stairs.
"Leila!"
"We're going to the Sawamura's for dinner!"
"Be ready in 30 minutes!"
'No...' Leila muffled into her pillow
She was too tired to move.
"Okay!" She slightly sat up
Skip the bath, it looks like it's going to be a nice warm shower instead.

Walking to the car lifelessly, the girl pulled open the handle of the car door and slid in.
She wore a light blue coloured blouse with black leggings and a pair of flats.
Looking over to the side, she noticed her younger brother hunched over eyes glued to his gaming device.
"You know, if you bend your neck a bit further you'll get stuck that way..." She teased
"Look what you did, you made me die" He rose up the gameboy angrily, revealing his character with x's on his eyes
"That was your own fault-" The blonde put on her seat belt making the smaller boy huff watching his older sister.
"Tch ... yeah you're right, a game like this would be way too complex for you and your little brain..." He taunted looking out the window striking a nerve within the blonde
"I'm older than you ya know!" Leila shot back
"And I'm smarter!" The boy screamed
"Who said you're smarter?!" The blonde retorted
"All you do is make kissy's with your boyfriend everyday!" He pushed
"You better watch your mouth!"
"Make me you witch!"
"Leila..."
"Makoto-"
The siblings looked up to see their parents
"Enough fighting..." They sighed
Sawamura Household
"Daichi's not home yet?" Leila looked around as she took off her shoes
"He should be back soon-" Her aunt looked back to the clock
'Wow, he's even out later than I was. Looks like Daichi's really trying hard this year' She thought just as the door swung open
"Sorry for being late! But I'm home!"
"Daichi dear, go get washed up. Dinner will be ready soon-" Daichi's mother Himari turned to face her eldest son
"Hey Dai-" Leila rose up an arm smiling as she places some dishes on the table peeking her head out from the kitchen
"Hey Lei-" He returned the smile before heading up the stairs

After they finished dinner, many of the family members hung out in the living room.
Leila and Daichi sat behind their siblings who were all trying to take turns playing on the gaming console. It was a 2 player game and there were three kids...that didn't go very well. It wasn't fair which caused friction.
"Suspended?!" The blonde shouted choking on her water making the brown haired captain sweat drop
She taught the kid better than that, but then again it was Nishinoya they were talking about. Him and his energetic charisma. Was she surprised at that? Not really.
Leila was familiar with Daichi's teammates. I mean when they'd get together and talk about volleyball, the names of specific players caught her attention. That, and she was close with all the third year players on Karasuno.
"I hope he's doing okay, I haven't seen him since middle school-"
"Now that we have our Libero and Ace back, I think we really have a shot at nationals this year-" He went on
"That's great Daichi-" Leila smiled
Nationals. They could almost taste it.
"..."
"So..."
"How's Oikawa?" He questioned catching the girl off guard
That was one thing Leila loved about Daichi. She knew being rival teams, the two captains didn't get along that well... but Daichi still made the initiative to bring him up because the setter was in a relationship with his dearest cousin.
"He's really good actually, thanks for asking-"
"You know I'm always rooting for you guys, but imagine if your were in my position right now-" The girl sweat dropped
Having your boyfriend, the captain of Aoba Johsai... and your cousin the captain of Karasuno...
What if they went up against each other? Then what?
"Yeah, I understand Leila" Daichi nodded
"How are the girls doing?" He questioned as Leila shriveled down into a ball
"Let's just say... I'm trying really really hard..." She exhaled making Daichi sweat drop uncomfortably
"Yeah, I can see that-" He scratched the back of his head noticing her injured arms
That's what you get for being the libero.
"Don't get me wrong, we have a great team... It's just that... some of the first years lack experience..." She hunched over
"But the girls are super sweet though!" She quickly perked up
"They feel bad that Mei and I, and are working extra hard... wanting to do better, so we can make it to nationals this year-"
"Looks like that's what motivates them" Daichi nodded
"And a great motivation that is!" She put up a peace sign as her eyes sparkled
'It's scary how much she reminds me of Noya right now-' Daichi chuckled
"Look at my two volleyball stars~" Himari and Leila's mother Yuna walked in holding a plate of fruit placing it on the table for the kids
"Mom-" Leila looked up to her mother
"If you don't tear Makoto away from that game, I think his eyes are going to burn from sitting too close to the tv..."
Knowing how competitive her daughter was, Makoto definitely inherited that trait.
The younger Abarai sibling had dark raven hair with bright hazel eyes. When he grows up, he'll be quite the looker that's for sure. Unlike Leila, his sport was soccer and was completely obsessed with it. You should see how fast that kid could run.
"Geez you kids, what am I going to do with you?" Yuna shook her head back and forth
"Makoto-" Yuna spoke as the boy popped his head up
"Give Rei and Hitoshi a chance to play please-" She eyed her son as his expression dropped
"...whatever..." He passed the controller and walked over to the table grabbing an apple slice.
"Makoto, you're in your third year of junior high, correct?" Himari questioned her nephew as he nodded
"Do you know what high school you're planning on attending?"
"..."
"Aoba Johsai-"
"Karasuno-"
Daichi and Leila immediately locked eyes.
"He obviously wants to go to Karasuno Leila-" Daichi pushed
"What are you talking about?! Makoto fits in perfectly at Seijou!" The girl jumped
"Actually... I was thinking about Date Ko-"
"DATE KO?!" The third years spazzed
"You don't want to go to Date Ko Makoto-" Leila swatted her hand back and forth
"I mean... they do have the best boys soccer team in Miyagi..." He mumbled looking up at his older sister
"SEIJOH'S TEAMS ARE JUST AS AMAZING-" She screeched
"And Karasuno is great too!" Daichi butted in
Yuna and Himari laughed watching their families dynamic. These kids sure are something else...
