Chapter 3
"So you have wished it, so shall it be," the genie ghost, Desiree, murmured to herself. She had just heard the young halfa, Danny Phantom, wish for her to have a new obsession. This after he freed her from being enslaved to grant anyone's wish that she heard. Many lonely centuries have passed but no one had ever thought to free her from her compulsive wish-granting, nor had she held out any hope that someone would. But surprisingly, this young (and rather good looking if she was being honest) half-ghost boy had given her the one desire she sought after for many, many years.
The wishing ghost began to feel her own power work on her as it rearranged her nature and her thoughts. As she gazed at the young hero, she began to feel the world fall away.
"Danny," she whispered quietly, her eyes focusing more on him. His black hair and sapphire eyes. "Danny," she began to notice even more, his small dimples when he smiled and how white his teeth were.
"Danny," everything faded into the background and there only stood the ghostly hero, her hero, while he adorably rubbed the back of his head with a chuckle that she now found absolutely irresistible. She took in his every detail, realizing he had actually grown up a lot more than she previously noticed. He was several inches taller than when they first clashed, with his shoulders and frame much wider. She also saw that these past few years of battling ghosts had done wonders for his physique. Tight, corded fighter muscles were quite hidden underneath his plain shirt and jeans. She blushed as she noticed them though. She knew she had never felt this way before about anyone as the heat began to rise in her cheeks. Her entire vision became completely centered on Danny—
"Hey Fenturd!" a nasal voice echoed loudly in the hallway, snapping Desiree back to herself. She proceeded to watch as an overly large blonde brute dressed in a letterman's jacket stomped over to the trio of friends. Dash Baxter no longer towered over Danny so much after the halfa's growth spurt but was still slightly taller. The A-lister jock seemed to have taken notice the smaller height difference and puffed out his chest to make himself look more intimidating.
"What is it Dash?" the black-haired teen sighed. Even after all this time, he was still bullied by the A-listers; something he figured only graduating high school would solve.
"I'm having a bad day, so guess who I'm gonna take it out on?" Dash bellowed in his face. Danny, in turn, simply rolled his eyes.
"Really dude?" he asked the now slightly confused bully, "That's your reason? Have you ever thought of a healthy outlet? Maybe knitting?" Danny smirked while Tucker snickered. Dash glowered and grabbed the front of Danny's shirt and slammed him back into the lockers. The air whooshed from Danny's lungs but he managed to keep his feet. Desiree's vision turned red with fury. How dare this cockroach touch her hero?! Still invisible, she raised a hand and was about to blast the foolish boy into oblivion before another voice called out.
"Mr. Baxter!" Principal Ishiyama came walking down the hall towards the suddenly meek football player and the raven-haired boy he was bullying.
"I was on my way to my office when I just saw that little stunt against Mr. Fenton, care to explain?" she crossed her arms while raising an eyebrow at him. Dash quickly recovered and plastered a fake smile on his face before half-heartedly pulling Danny under his arm in what was probably supposed to be a friendly gesture.
"We were just playing around," he lied as Danny squirmed out and away from him. The principal's gaze flitted back and forth between the two students before she turned her full attention to Danny.
"Is this true, Mr. Fenton?" she asked him with one eyebrow raised. Danny snorted in disbelief and shook his head.
"Of course not," he answered, ignoring the glare Dash was sending him. "I was minding my own business when Dash came and shoved me cause he was having a bad day."
"That's not true!" Dash protested, "He made fun of my knitting!" Dash gasped and quickly covered his mouth. Everyone turned to stare at the now beet-red jock.
"Dude," Tucker said, "Do you actually knit?"
"Aw," Sam gushed, "If it was anybody else that would actually be cute."
At this point Danny was trying really hard not to burst out laughing and had to bite his lip to hold back his giggles.
"Regardless of what people think of your hobbies Mr. Baxter," the principal spoke, "Shoving another student is not acceptable behavior in this school. You will accompany me to my office and we will discuss your punishment." With that, she turned and began walking away with Dash following behind. While walking he turned back and sent Danny a murderous look and grumbled, "You're dead Fenton."
"It's okay Dash!" Danny called out to the bully, "I hope we can let bygones be bygones! I'm willing to accept a cap or a scarf as an apology!"
This immediately caused his two friends to burst out laughing and Tucker even needing to lean against the lockers for support.
"Dude that was amazing! I had no idea he actually knows how to knit," he cackled. In turn Danny shrugged while chuckling, "It's not like I have a problem with knitting, it's the fact that he's so embarrassed by it that makes it hilarious."
Sam just shook her head, "This is a whole new side to Dash that I don't think I ever needed to know. This is almost as bad as the teddy bear incident a few years ago."
Remembering that incident only caused Tucker to howl with laughter and double over while clutching his stomach. Still invisible, Desiree was covering her mouth trying to contain her own giggles. After her silent laughter settled down, she smiled warmly as her hero began walking again towards his next class with his friends. She was happy that the situation resolved itself though she mentally took a note to keep an eye on the brutish blonde since he would surely try and get petty revenge. She had seen his type countless times throughout the centuries.
The rest of the day passed peacefully as Desiree continued to invisibly follow her hero. She took note of everything adorable that he did; like how he would scrunch his nose and furrow his brow while studying, how he would throw back his head while laughing, how the sunlight would cause his dark hair to gleam, how he would drool while falling asleep during a boring lecture. Each moment felt more precious than the last and Desiree savored them all.
Danny on the other hand, felt that something was off about today. He couldn't shake the odd feeling that he was being watched. A couple of times his ghost sense went off during school that afternoon but when he looked around, he didn't see anything ghost-like, or anyone running and screaming in fear. He was worried his ice powers were acting up again even though he had mastered them long ago. When there was no sign of a ghost attack he tried to shrug it off, but the feeling just kept with him. He wracked his brain for anybody who would be spying on him, but couldn't think of anyone who would only spy and not do anything. Vlad wouldn't spy on him personally since he'd use spybots, Skulker would've already tried to hunt or incapacitate him whenever he was alone, Technus wouldn't have ever been able to keep quiet and neither would the Box Ghost.
Now as he sat in detention, he really couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching him. He glanced about but the only other person in the classroom was Lancer, who was busy grading papers and not even looking in his direction. Danny did his best to focus on the homework he was working on and take advantage of this rare quiet time, but the feeling stuck with him. After detention was over, he grabbed his things and started heading home. He had told Sam, Tucker, and his sister to not wait up for him since he planned to head straight home and work on homework before their patrol that night. Once outside Danny glanced around to see if anyone was watching before going ghost and flying home.
Desiree had learned to keep a bit of a distance so as not to set off his ghost sense anymore. The few times she got a closer look at her hero, she had gotten too close had to immediately retreat when his ghost sense activated. She watched him land in an alleyway half a block away from his house and transform back into a human before he proceeded to walk the last bit to his house. She hovered a bit higher in the air as he walked up the driveway past his sister's car and up to the front door. Just as he opened the door and began walking inside, Desiree sped up in order to quickly slip into the house to continue observing him in his home. Without warning she crashed face first into some sort of force field that surrounded the house.
"Ow!" she said as she rubbed her probably bruised nose while closing her eyes to keep them from tearing up.
"Who's there?!" she heard Danny bark out as he rushed back out the front door, head whipping around looking for a fight. "I know someone's there! Show yourself!"
Uh-oh! Busted! What will happen now? Stay tuned for next time! I greatly appreciate your time to read, thank you for your continued support!
