It was the first day of school since the internships and everyone was sitting in class, talking while they waited for All Might to show up. Izumi was writing in her notebook while Izuku watched her.

"What's that notebook?" He asked.

"Oh. It's uh… notes I've been taking about training. Since Ms Miruko was training me so much, I wanted to make notes about everything so I can train by myself."

"Hm. Just be sure you don't go as hard on yourself as she does. That kind of training can be good for a short time but can be more detrimental if done for a long time."

Izumi nodded. "Okay. Thanks Izuku."

The door burst open and All Might stood in the doorway. "Everyone, get on your costumes! We're going to be testing you all since your internships!"

Everyone got up and grabbed their costumes before heading to the changing rooms.

——

Everyone was standing in front of a giant Tv with All Might standing before them. "Alright! We will be holding a race to see how much you all have improved since you left here! Now to split you into groups!"

Everyone got split up into groups of five and Izumi and Izuku were both put into the same group. They looked at each other, curious what All Might was up to.

"Now! Each group will be racing to the center of the fake city behind me. The first one to reach the center and save the hostage wins!"

Izuku got into position, readying himself, knowing he was going to be racing Izumi. Normally Izumi wouldn't be much of a threat but after her training with Rumi, Izuku didn't know what to expect from the girl.

Izuku was ready, stretching out his wings, when the alarm blared. Izuku immediately jumped up, launching himself towards the center as fast as he could.

As he was flying, he felt someone was getting close to him and looked behind him. He saw Izumi was maneuvering her way towards him quickly, using her quirk and environment to her advantage, reminding him of Rumi.

Before he realized it, Izumi quickly closed the distance between her and him, launching herself off his back. "You'll need to be faster than that, Izuku!"

Izuku smiled, his eyes quickly flashing to red, before taking off faster towards her, his wings sending a gust of wind up around him. "Like I'll let you leave me in the dust!" Izumi couldn't hide her smile as she raced with Izuku. The adrenaline pumping through her body.

They could both see the end and reached out, and an alarm sounded, signaling the end. Izuku landed on the roof, his claws digging into the concrete to stop him. Izumi landed with a skid, trying not to fall on her face.

She couldn't denied it, she had fun racing with Izuku and getting to use the new skills she learned from patrolling with Miruko. Izuku walked up to her, raising his fist to her. Izumi saw it and smiling, bringing up her win to meet his.

"Heh, that was fun. We should have more races."

Izumi nodded. "Yeah. Then I can show you just how fast I am when I get serious."

All Might walked up to the two, interrupting them. "Alright, both of you head back. We need to see who the winner is." All Might sounded like he had little interest in the two.

They began walking back, Izuku looking at Izumi seeing her once smiling face now full of anger. "Hey, did something happen between you two?" He asked.

Izumi sighed. "I… don't really want to talk about it right now."

Izuku nodded, putting his hand on her shoulder. "Okay. Whatever it is, don't let it keep you down. It's not worth worrying about like that." Izumi silently nodded as they joined back with the rest of the class.

——

The next morning, Izuku was laying in bed, snoring away. Kaina slowly opened the door, peeking in to see him. Quietly walking in and closing the door behind her, she walked up to Izuku's bed. "Come on, it's time to wake up," Kaina said, a smile on her face.

She remembered back to something Miruko told her. Seeing him not showing any signs of waking, she claimed on top of his bed before jumping up, landing on top of him.

"Time to wake up!" She shouted.

Izuku jolted awake, confusion clear on his face. "Wh-what? Kaina?"

"Well good morning. Was wondering when you were going to wake up."

Izuku groaned, leaning up in his bed a bit. "You almost made me think everything was a dream. *sigh* So why did you wake me up like Mama Rumi does when it's something important?"

Kaina shrugged her shoulders. "She made it sound fun so I wanted to try."

"Of course she did. So did you learn a lot with mom?"

Kaina laid on the bed next to Izuku. "Yeah. She taught me a lot about what it means to be a hero and stuff. She also took me out into the field a lot and we stopped a lot of crime. What about you?"

"Well, Sir Nighteye trained me a lot with how to deal with an opponent who can anticipate my every move and Mirio took me on a few patrols."

Kaina smiled before taking a more serious look. "Anyone call you a monster?"

"Eh, a couple people but Mirio seemed to know how to stop that pretty quickly." Kaina's smile returned.

"So, you've started calling them mom more often I've noticed."

Izuku began to feel his face heat up. "H-hey, they are me p-parents now."

"Heh yeah, I know. It just makes me happy to hear you do it more." She looked over at Iuku's wall of photos from his childhood. "Especially knowing how much they've helped you."

Izuku smiled as he layed on his bed, staring at the ceiling. When a thought came to his mind. "H-hey, Kaina, why do you like me?"

"Well, it's because I like you. You're kind, smart, understanding. You don't put down others even when they've wronged you. I was raised in a city that had a lot of people with mutation quirks so I've never really bothered with peoples looks. To me, what's important is what's in here." She rested her hand over his chest.

Izuku wrapped his hand around her's, his smile growing. "I love you, Kaina."

"Love you too, scale face."

——

It had been a month since the class returned to school and they were all in class, waiting for their teacher. The door opened, Aizawa walking in. "Summer is coming soon. But instead of letting everyone go home, we're going to do a summer training camp. But in order to participate, you have to pass your end of term exams."

A lot of students began to freak out internally. Class began and Izuku began wondering what kind of exams. Once lunch came around, everyone was sitting in the lunch room, eating. He felt something hit his head and he rolled his eyes.

"Haha! So the infamous monster of class A can't dodge everything!" He heard the voice of the guy from class b.

"It's not about can't. I just didn't care enough to. Pointless "attacks" that don't do anything are just a waste of energy to bother with."

Izuku saw Izumi stand up with an angry look and walked up to the blonde guy. "Hey asshole, leave him alone."

"Tch, or what? Why should I care about some monster like him?"

Izumi, after hearing those words, made her have to hold back everything she had to not crush the guy in front of her with the full power of her telekinesis. Before anyone could say anything else, the guy fell unconscious, falling to the ground, revealing a red haired girl. "Sorry about him, he… well, he's just an asshole, but he didn't it. He's just trying to rile you up."

She carried him away, most of class 1-A just staring in disbelief that someone like him really exists. Izumi moved back to her seat across from her brother. "You okay, Izumi?"

"Yeah. Just… people like that bring me back to… you know." Izuku remembered back to childhood.

"Yeah. I know." Izuku went back to eating his food.
