Belle was thrown in a cold tower in the Queen's castle. She was forced out of her travelling clothes into a plain blue cotton shift that offered little warmth. Then she was chained by her wrists to the stone wall of the tower.

Belle looked around for any sort of escape when that horrible icy voice rang out again and the Queen sauntered into the room looking smug.

Belle didn't bother asking why she was here. It was the same reason the Queens of Darkness had captured her. Leverage. She was leverage against Rumple.

"Enjoying your new room? I do hope you won't try anything stupid like escaping."

"Didn't you hear me back in the woods?" scoffed Belle "I'll never stop fighting for my true love."

"You really think that old monster is your true love? Foolish girl. And even if he were escape from here is impossible."

"Impossible just means it hasn't been done," said Belle repeating what Rumple had once told her. The Evil Queen leaned down and grabbed Belle's face forcing her to look at her.

"Now listen to me girl. You may or may not be his true love. But you did get mighty close to the man. You spent more time with him than anyone which means you must have learned some of his secrets. You're going to tell them to me."

"Because you asked so nicely?" asked Belle sarcastically.

"No because, otherwise I'm going to have you punished." said the Queen with a dark smile.

"Not happening." said Belle. Whatever the Queen did she couldn't make her betray Rumple.

"So be it." The Queen shoved her hand into Belle's chest and Belle gasped as she felt the woman attempt to pull out her heart. The pressure was painful but her heart refused to budge.

"What?" said the Evil Queen in shock as she removed her hand and Belle actually smirked.

"I worked in his castle, I'm his true love. You didn't seriously believe he wouldn't provide me with some form of protection against people like you?" The Evil Queen snarled.

"Then I suppose we'll have to try more primitive methods.

OUAT

Remembering the near flaying that Robin hood had gotten at Rumple's hands Belle figured she'd gotten off lucky with the few cracks of the whip.

"Well?" asked the Queen when the guards paused.

"You really must be miserable to want to inflict so much pain on other people. I feel sorry for you." gasped out Belle. The Evil Queen scowled and ordered her to be taken back to the tower though not before she had cleaned the cuts with a wave of her hand.

At Belle's confused look she sneered.

"Don't think it's mercy. I can't have you getting infected and dying before you can be of use to me, can I?"

And there it was. And then it clicked in Belle's head. The Queen wouldn't kill her or even break her because she needed Belle in good enough condition to be worth trading or using against Rumple. Not a pleasant thought but one that made Belle realize that she could stick this out.

OUAT

The Queen's next attempt perhaps a month or so later was demanding answers and cutting Belle with a knife each time she refused. The trick being the knife wound healed over instantly though the pain remained for a while.

This too proved a failure. Oh, Belle did end up crying out in pain but not a single word about Rumple would she let loose causing the Queen to leave her again.

OUAT

The last variation the Evil Queen came up with was one that actually worried Belle as the woman stepped into the room holding a bottle of pale gold liquid that Belle recognized from Rumple's laboratory.

"Do you know what this is girl?" asked the Queen.

"Apple juice?" quipped Belle tiredly.

"Truth potion," answered the Evil Queen with a wicked grin then fast as a viper she grabbed Belle and forced the potion down her throat. Belle felt the cool liquid slide down her throat and did her best to try and think of a way around this. The Evil Queen released her and Belle slid back against the wall.

Her mind was running a mile a minute trying to think a way around this. Then it it her. Loopholes. She'd lived with the king of them. She might not be able to lie but maybe she could get around giving away anything important.

"Now we'll get some proper answers." said the Queen. "Now tell me something that no one else knows about Rumplestiltskin."

"He takes his tea with two sugars and gets picky if you don't add the right amount of milk." answered Belle. The Queens eyes narrowed.

"You KNOW that isn't what I mean."

"You asked for something nobody else knows. I honestly don't know why you think he'd have told me anything. He's a closed off person."

"But he trusts you."

"No. He doesn't." said Belle careful with the tense that she used. He had trusted her once but that had fallen by the wayside with their disastrous kiss.

"What is his weakness?"

"Power." said Belle. And in her opinion in a way it was his weakness. His need for it had the potential to be the cause of his downfall with the way he horded power.

"Power isn't a weakness you idiot girl," scowled the Evil Queen. The Evil Queen paced looking frustrated and Belle felt a small glow of satisfaction at her success so far. Then the Queen turned to face her again.

"Power isn't a weakness. But love is. What or who else if anything does he care about?" Belle eyes widened. The Queen hadn't asked for everyone he cared for. Which essentially left her between either telling her about the Hatter family, or his son. The son he had entrusted her with the knowledge of.

"Well?" asked the Queen. Belle could feel the compulsion to speak working on her and knew she had to make a choice or else the potion would make one for her.

"His son." she said at last. Bae at least was an unknown target.

"He has a son?" said the Queen looking shocked.

"Yes. But it won't do you any good. He lost him." said Belle. The Evil Queen once again scowled.

"So he's dead. That's no use." Belle felt a flood of relief that the woman had taken the term lost to mean dead. She glared at Belle.

"You really are lucky your mere existence is useful or else I'd just kill you."

"Do what you will. I won't give in," said Belle. The Queen shot her a final glare and left.

Belle had thought the physical torture was the worst of it but apparently seeing that that wouldn't work the Queen decided to move on to emotional torture. The first was she estimated by the scrapes on her wall about two months into her imprisonment. The Queen entered. She waved a hand the chains fell away Belle was also suddenly dressed in a plain but clean blue dress not dissimilar from the ones she'd favored during her time with Rumple. The room itself also seemed to become cleaner and slightly more comfortable.

"What's going on," she asked suspiciously.

"You have a guest."

"A guest?" scoffed Belle she turned to the door and was shocked to see her father enter looking a little surprised and saddened.

"I leave you be," said the Queen. King Maurice rushed to hug his daughter.

"Belle! Oh, my darling girl! You're free from that monster."

"Father Rumple was never a monster he let me go. But I am being kept by one now." She lowered her voice. "You must leave and tell Rumplestiltksin that I am being held here." Her father gave her a grave look.

"Then it's as she said."

"As who said?" asked Belle.

"The Queen told me that you had grown to trust that Beast that you even loved him."

"Papa he isn't a beast and while she isn't lying about my feelings towards him, she is keeping me here against my will. She's been torturing me, Papa!"

"I don't see any marks," said her father.

"She healed them with magic," said Belle feeling rather annoyed with how dense her father was being.

"You see Maurice, she's still under his spell but give it some time and I shall find a way to break her from it," came the Evil Queen's poisonous voice as she reentered the room.

"Papa NO!" said Belle.

"You truly can help her?" asked her father and Belle felt a rush of betrayal.

"Indeed. All you need to do is spread the rumor round that she has died. Just in case the Dark One comes for her again. That way he'll lose interest permanently.

"Father!"

"I'm sorry Belle it's for your own good. I love you." said her father kissing her hand before turning and leaving the room the Queen shot her a triumphant smile.

"Are you through emotionally raking me over the coals?" asked Belle with a glare.

"Oh, I've only just begun," said the Queen with a grin before waving her hand. Belle once again found herself chained to the wall.

OUAT

Having her own father betray her was a crushing blow and as much as she would like to have made an excuse for him such as the Queen controlling him, she had felt his heart beating in the brief hug they had shared and she knew him well enough to tell when he truly believed in his convictions. He'd abandoned his daughter to the Evil Queen rather than believe she could love the Dark One.

The second part of the Queen's emotional torture however was even worse. A week after Belle had been betrayed by her father a mirror appeared on the wall across from the one Belle was chained to.

Belle found this curious and wondered what the Queen was up to this time. Too soon her answer came as the mirror came to life to show Rumple in his castle talking to the Queen as he spun at his wheel.

"Are you angry with me? What is it this time?" asked the Queen pouring herself a cup of tea and Belle felt a little rush of anger at the presumptuous way the woman was acting in Rumple's...in THEIR home.

"Your little deception failed. You'll never be more powerful than me. You can keep trying, dearie, but you're never gonna beat me."

"It wasn't a deception," whispered Belle though she noticed he didn't sound quite so confident about his statement regarding it being a deception. There was something in the inflection of his voice. The idea gave her hope.

"Oh. Is this about that girl I met on the road?" the Evil Queen gave a cold laugh. "What was her name? Margie? Verna."

"Belle." Snapped Rumple at the same time as Belle herself.

"Right. Well... you can rest assured I had nothing to do with that tragedy." Belle felt her heart sink at the Queen's words. What was she playing at? She saw Rumple stop spinning and walk towards the Queen.

"What tragedy?" he said.

"NO NO NO NO NO!" cried Belle as if repeating the phrase would stop the poisonous words she knew were about to spill from the Queen's lips.

"You don't know?" The Queen chuckled. "Wow. After she got home... her fiancé had gone missing. And after her stay here, her... "association" with you, no one would want her, of course. Her father shunned her, cut her off, shut her out."

"So, she needs... a home?" asked Rumple and Belle's heart warmed at his hopeful tone. There was a chance he might welcome her back. However, the Evil Queen true to her name dashed those hopes.

"He was cruel to her. He locked her in a tower and sent in clerics to cleanse her soul with scourges and flaying. After a while, she threw herself off the tower. She died."

"NO! Don't believe her!" cried Belle.

"You're lying." hissed Rumple.

"Yes, Yes, she is! I'm alive Rumple don't give up hope PLEASE!" Belle begged in vain as she saw the grief that crossed Rumple's face briefly before a stoic mask replaced it. Tears ran down her cheeks at the pain she saw her true love feel.

"Am I?" asked the Queen.

"We're done." said Rumple sharply opening the doors with his magic.

"Fine." said the Queen with a shrug setting down her cup and turning to leave. "I have other calls to make." as she departed, she swept a finger along the dust ridden table.

"Place is getting dusty Rumple. You'd better get a new girl."

"Out." Barked Rumple and at least to Belle's slight pleasure a flash of fear appeared in the Queen's eye. Then the image cut off.

A few minutes later the Queen herself appeared in a swirl of purple smoke.

"Well, did you enjoy the show?" she asked. Belle glared at her.

"You truly are despicable. How can you get pleasure hurting someone like that!"

"Because if he's grieving, he's weak and if he's weak I'll be the more powerful. Not to mention with your dear father's help even if he does investigate my little story, they'll be proof to back it up. He'll never come for you." said the Queen with a smirk.

Belle stood up.

"If you think making him grieve will WEAKEN him that's where you are wrong. He's far too determined and powerful to let that stop him. And anyway you've made one key mistake Your majesty."

She addressed the woman with a mocking tone.

"Oh and what's that?"

"You've given me hope. You could have made me believe Rumple wasn't seeking me out because he had ceased to care. THAT would have hurt ME more. But now...now I know if he doesn't come it's because he doesn't believe there is anyone to come FOR. And that makes all the difference. His lack of care would hurt far more than his lack of knowledge." The Queen's dark eyes flashed.

"You little bitch." she hissed and slapped Belle.

"Rumple's right you'll never be more powerful than him. One day I will get back to him and you'd better hope I choose to convince him to spare you." said Belle who at the moment with the rage she felt at the Queen for hurting Rumple the way she did wasn't entirely sure what she would do.

"We'll see about that." scoffed the Queen before leaving in another swirl of purple smoke. Once she was gone Belle collapse back down.

"Oh Rumple. My poor Rumple." she whispered. "I will get back to you."

Author's Note: So personally I don't feel anything in here is out of the realm of reasonability for what Regina might have put Belle through. I also wanted to add some justification as to why Rumple might have bought the story of Belle dying so her father helping fake it would at least add credibility. And I can absolutely see the Jackarse that is Maurice getting conned by the Evil Queen into leaving his daughter imprisoned to cure her of her love for the monster. Next up we return to Rumple. We're getting closer to where we're really gonna deviate from canon so hang in there. I'm afraid though I can't let our couple off the hook too easily yet. Until next time!
