Shazza19- Yes! Dean works at an auto parts store now lol. Don't worry about feeling behind, I feel behind and I'm writing the story! Hopefully you catch up.
Allison- Your review is the reason I keep writing fanfic! You're so sweet! I always get nervous doing something big in fear that it wouldn't make sense to the character, but it made me so happy to read your comment that I'm doing well! I will definitely finish this story even if it kills me. Thank you so much!

Okay, on with the show!
Dean casually leaned on his elbows against the counter of the auto parts store. He had been here for almost a week and, while he was loving it, he was learning very quickly the joys of working retail. He had just dealt with a customer who tried to return a brand radiator hose claiming it was damaged when he bought it. Upon Dean's inspection, it indeed was broken... but it was from the guy trying to install it, even though he swore he never used it once he opened it.
Yeah. That was a fun fight.
Dean hung his head and groaned.
"Bored?" came a voice from the other side of the counter.
Dean looked up to see a girl wearing the same work uniform as him.
"Is it always this slow?" he asked.
"Not usually, but today it's pretty bad."
She turned around to gesture to a couple boxes sitting on a dolly off to the side.
"You can help me put these on the shelves?" she offered.
Dean smiled and walked over to the dolly, leaning it back and rolling it to the back wall where they keep the motor oil. She pulled out a box cutter and started opening the first box, showing Dean which bottles went where.
"I'm Dean."
"Dani."
"So why aren't you in school?"
"I could ask you the same thing."
Dean smiled at Dani. She looked to be about his age, although she was tiny.
"I dropped out and got my GED a few weeks ago."
"Why?"
"Cause high school fucking sucks, that's why."
She laughed hard at that. Dean laughed with her.
"I wouldn't know. I've never been."
"Really?" he asked, genuinely curious at what she had said.
"I'm homeschooled. I help raise my little sister."
"I know what that's like," Dean scoffed. He took the box cutter from Dani and cut into the second box, breaking down the first one and tossing it to the side.
"Her name is Haley. She's seven. My parents are gone a lot for work so guess who gets to stay home and take care of her?"
Dean's curiosity peaked even more. It was like they were the same person.
"What do your folks do?" he asked.
"It's so complicated. They're like traveling salesmen, but... without the salesmen."
Well this conversation just got filed away for later in Dean's brain.
"I got a little brother. His name's Sam and he's thirteen. I totally get what you mean by being stuck raising your little sister."
"Yeah?" Dani asked. "Why are you stuck with him?"
"My dad's not very involved as a parent. He tries but when it gets hard, he's never there. We're staying for the year with my uncle."
"And then you'll go back to your dad?"
Dean shrugged. The thought crossed his mind that eventually they would have to go back. Bobby couldn't keep them forever.
The two finished unloading the boxes, reloaded the dolly, and went up and down the different aisles restocking shelves, talking and getting to know each other the whole time.
Sam sat in the back row of the auditorium at the first rehearsal.
This is a bad idea. This is a very, very bad idea. What are you doing here? You can't act! If you sneak out that back door, no one will even know you were here. Why did you sign up for this? This is so stupid. You can't possibly-
"Hi!"
Sam looked up, the thoughts racing in his head stopped.
"I'm Audrey! I'm your stage manager and Mrs. Hannigan wanted me to start going around checking everyone in."
"I'm Sam," he said, playing it cool. She pulled out her clipboard and scribbled on whatever was there, before skipping over to the next kid.
Maybe theatre wasn't going to be so bad after all.
Dean finished his shift and helped Dani close up the store. He drove across town to the junior high. Sam's rehearsal wasn't quite over yet, so he parked in the lot where the other parents waited and made his way inside. He snuck into the auditorium and stood in the back searching in the dimly lit room for any sign of Sam. He found him standing on the stage with a couple other kids as the teacher yelled at them from the first row in the audience.
Dean chuckled to himself and watched. The teacher finished telling them what to do when and then they ran through the scene. Dean took a seat where he found the pile of Sam's stuff. After they finished the scene, the teacher dismissed them. Sam ran off stage as fast as he could towards the back of the auditorium.
"That looked like fun," Dean said when Sam got closer to him.
"It's not. I hated it."
"Aw come on, this is your first day. You gotta give it a chance."
"You know how Dad barks orders at us all the time? It's literally that."
"Did you seriously just compare this to being stranded in the woods somewhere with Dad on a hunt?"
Sam shrugged his shoulders and gathered his belongings. Dean mumbled something about Sam not being able to take direction, to which Sam rolled his eyes.
"Well I'm sure you'll have fun. And who knows? When it's all done, it might be pretty cute."
"Please don't call it cute," Sam whined.
"Oh I'm calling it cute," Dean said, throwing his arm over Sam's shoulders and leading him out to the car.
