WE MADE IT TO CHAPTER 50! WOOHOO!
Kaz-Inej-Alec-Magnus-Four-Tris: Haha I hear you. I am having fun with Sam and his show. Thanks for the suggestions! I will definitely consider them if they work.
On with the show!
"John, just listen to me... dammit you can't do that to them!"
"Is that Dad?" Dean asked, walking into the kitchen and wondering who Bobby could be pissed at this early in the morning.
Bobby just held his hand up towards Dean. "Too bad John! You're not taking 'em! And if ya show up to try, you'll be meeting the wrong end of my shotgun."
Dean started to worry. "What happened?"
"Your dad thinks he needs your help on a hunt this weekend."
"But Sam's show is this weekend!" Dean thought about it as he poured himself a cup of lukewarm coffee. "Maybe he could stay the night and we'll go see the show and then leave right after?"
Bobby sighed. "I will do everything I can. Maybe I can send someone out with him."
Dean scoffed.
"I can't find my shoes!" a frantic Sam said, running down the stairs.
Bobby rolled his eyes and left Dean standing in the kitchen. He went out to the den to find Sam searching under the couch.
"Where'd ya take them off at this time?" he asked, starting to chug his coffee. Started his Monday morning off arguing on the phone about the dang kid, now he's gotta help the dang kid.
"I thought they were upstairs," Sam mumbled.
"Check the bathroom!" Dean yelled out from the kitchen.
"Why would they be in the bathroom?" Sam yelled back.
"You took a shower when you came home last night right? You take everything off in there?"
Sam stopped to remember. He threw his head back and groaned in frustration, then darted out of the room back up the stairs.
"How the hell did you know that?" Bobby asked Dean.
"Are you kidding?" Dean asked back. He walked into the den with his own coffee. "He's always leaving his shit on the bathroom floor."
"Don't tell Sam about your dad. You know how he'll get."
"I won't go with him. He can't make me!"
Bobby groaned. Oh, how they wished that could be true. Knowing John, he'd just guilt Dean into going anyway.
Sam came running back down the stairs. "I'm ready!"
Dean proceeded to chug the rest of his coffee, returning back to the kitchen to throw his mug in the sink.
"Here ya go squirt," Bobby said, pulling out his wallet and handing Sam $5. "Try to buy a vegetable or something."
Sam laughed and pocketed the cash. "Sure, Bobby."
"Woo! Let's do this thing!" Dean screamed, caffeine kicking in, as he headed towards the front door. Sam barely had enough time to grab his bag and follow him out to the car before Dean drove off.
"No rehearsal tonight right?" Dean asked as he pulled into the middle school parking lot. "So three? Like usual?"
"Um, a few of us are going to stay late and work on lines."
"So what? Five? Six?"
Sam quickly gathered his things. "Don't worry about it. I'll just get a ride."
"You sure?" Dean asked.
"Yup!" Sam said, climbing out of the car and slamming the door. "Wait!" He stuck his head back in the passenger window. "I need lunch money."
Dean happily pulled a couple of one-dollar bills out of the car's ashtray. "Make sure you get a ride with that cute girl who has a crush on you."
Sam rolled his eyes and took the cash, shoving it in the same pocket as Bobby's $5.
Okay. Sam lied.
After school was let out, he headed towards the bus stop on the corner from the convenience store. He rode the bus to the dollar store in town. The bus pass cost him $3 so he could ride it back to Bobby's. Which meant Sam had about $4 left to spend.
Sam was nervous. The other day he was at work with Dean again and Dani was talking about her birthday coming up. She invited them to her party, which Dean politely declined because of Sam's show, but Sam thought it would still be a nice thing to get her a gift.
Sam stared at the selection of cards. He finally agreed on one with a dancing cupcake, hoping she would find it cute.
Sam had no idea in mind what to get Dani. He wandered up and down the aisles looking for something. Eventually, he came across a teddy bear in a bowtie that piqued his interest.
Sam got back on the bus and went to the library to do homework to fit the alibi he gave Dean. Shortly after five, he got back on the bus a third time and went back to the dirt road that led to Bobby's.
When Sam got home, he hid the dollar store bag with the card and teddy bear in the far corner under his bed. He double-checked every angle in the room and was very satisfied when he couldn't see it under his bed. And if he couldn't see it, Dean wouldn't be able to either.
Sam played with his fingers as he bopped down the stairs to the den. He stood in the doorway and found Bobby hunched over his desk flipping through pages.
Bobby looked up and saw the teen's eyes peering around the corner. "Yes?"
Sam panicked. "What?"
"What did ya do?"
Sam slowly came into the room. "Nothing."
"What do ya want?"
Sam shifted his weight and looked away.
"Sam?" Bobby asked, growing concerned.
"Can you teach me how to shave?" Sam asked quickly. His hands flew to his face and covered his mouth. Did he just ask that?
Bobby leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms. "Well, no offense kid, but I've seen more hair on that naked cat that likes to ransack through the junkyard out there."
Sam blushed. Why did he ask that?
"Why the sudden interest?"
Sam hesitated. "I-I just... I need to know... you know?"
"Yeah, but you probably still got a few more years. I mean, how often do ya see Dean shave?"
Sam thought about it. He actually wasn't sure if he had ever seen Dean shave...
"Speaking of Dean, why aren't you asking him?"
Sam blushed again. He could feel the heat coming off his face.
Bobby chuckled. "Make ya a deal boy. When the time comes, if ya still want me to, I'll teach ya."
Sam sighed in relief. "Really?"
Bobby nodded. A car pulled up outside.
"You might wanna get that red face of yours out of here before your brother comes in and starts asking questions."
Sam had never run up those steps so fast.
