"Alright, one last time for the road!" she nodded, pulling a phone out of her pocket, and opening a pre-made list to compare to the contents of her backpack.

[Part 1]

A thousand Pokedollars, five Pokeballs and five Potions… Check. This was good enough to start out, and taking more than this felt like throwing money at your problems.

A sleeping bag, a tent, a couple of firestarters and cooking utensils… Check. Sure, rushing from city A to city B to sleep at a Pokecenter was an option, but wasn't camping on the road half of the fun?

A couple of portable sun batteries… Check. You never knew when you would've needed some charging.

Miscellaneous small blessings of civilisation… Check. Yeah, just because she planned to wander the woods for a bit did not mean she planned to go without soaps and whatnot.

A pair of new bowls for Pokémon, plus one already used one, a few bags of basic Pokémon food, and one grooming kit for a small Normal type Pokémon… Check. Should be fine for a while.

Owari's Pokeball… Check. Double check that the little scamp is inside… Yeah, he is. Probably asleep. Good.

A basic trainer phone AND her regular phone, plus Pokedex… Check. Her regular phone might not have been compatible with the signal out there, but it still had some games she liked to play time to time. And since she did not plan to bump into any Professors, having a decently filled Pokedex was only natural.

An appropriate set of clothes not to freak the locals, and a couple of spares… Check. She kinda preferred to switch clothes daily, but it could be somewhat stretched into once per two or three days per set on the road. Even longer was also necessary sometimes, but she kinda preferred not to.

Psychic paper and three Realityboxes… Check. Ah, and one extra Realitybox for the way back.

Welp, she've had got it in the bag. Aside from the current clothes, quite literally. The only thing left was to decide WHERE she wanted to go for this journey.

Turning to the corner of the room, she checked one of the shelves standing there. On it, were multiple games in the franchise, each promising its own kind of excitement. Since she's already been through Kanto and Alola, and did not feel particularly up for a nostalgic trip through these regions again, her eyes soon wandered to the other titles. This one, for example, would've allowed her to travel through the harsh lands of Sinnoh, fighting against a murder cult on her way to the Conference. This one was about conquering Hoenn, while fending off a bunch of ecoterrorists. This one was a stroll through Western Europe-inspired Kalos, and dealing with a cavalcade of ecofascists. Damn, for a kids-appropriate franchise, these games were pretty busy with political stuff. Hell, these two were basically about dealing with PETA in practically-America, of all things.

Regardless, maybe she could fast-track her training to deal with the local gang of bastards early on, so she could enjoy the rest of the journey in peace? Then again, it would've required her to get way too strong to enjoy the actual competi-

"HELP! PLEASE HELP!" suddenly, she heard a voice in her head. Telepathy, huh.

"Hello? I hear you, but WHERE are you?"

At that, she was sent a mental signal that she was able to track to… This very shelf she was just analysing. And not even to a specific game, more like to a few of them at the same time, offset on the fourth and fifth axis into some sort of a paradoxical dead end.

"Got it, I'm on my way," she sighed. There was no time to re-pack, but she had quickly grabbed the rest of her Realityboxes - for a total of thirteen, including the extra one. These were horribly expensive, but she had a nagging feeling she was going to need them.

Whatever this was all about, that telepathic SOS had pierced through dimensions. She knew better than to ignore a threat that could potentially seep back into reality like so.

Without any further ado, she pierced through the thin film separating reality from her destination, and took a step forward that should've led her to the source of the signal - instantly appearing in a dark, damp alleyway smack in the middle of a city. She was not sure WHICH city it was- its looks were pretty bog standard for that "big city" archetype. Her own knowledge of architecture was surface-level and fragmented at best, so without knowing the exact region she was in, she really could not tell.

Not that clarifying this was anywhere near the top of her list. Getting into that building over there was though. She could FEEL the lingering aftereffects of telepathy powerful enough to break through dimensional boundaries behind those walls of a… Uh… Some sort of a government facility?

Welp.

Without missing a beat, she approached the entrance, only to be met with a couple of heavily armed guards.

"Ma'am, this is your first and last warning, turn-"

The guard did not finish, as she confidently presented him a paper, then pulling down her cloth face mask for a few moments.

"I'm here with a surprise inspection," she noted, "Keep radio silent about this, so they don't get to hide their messes, and you two get to keep your jobs."

The guard that spoke to her suddenly began sweating, and the other tried to shrink to be as small and unnoticeable as possible. Both saluted, then letting her pass without an issue.

Good thing she had her psychic paper, the thing was invaluable in situations such as these. Of course, now she was stuck with this identity for a while, unless she reset the paper. Due to current circumstances, she had twelve chances to do so.

[Part 2]

Doctor Yakamino was not a happy camper.

For the past few years, he was not happy in general, as the progress on Project Seer had glacial pace at best of days. This meant that the facility was under constant scrutiny from the League higher-ups through no fault of its own, and THAT meant that its director Tarano Jubei (who, purely coincidentally, was Yakamino's cousin) made sure no one among his staff was happy either.

This time, though, just as they were about to test out their new method of conditioning, Dr. Yakamino had to stop everything, and report to the lobby, where he found out THIS particular wench.

From what he could tell, she was in her mid-20s, but that's about it. That oversized cutesy Goodra-themed hoodie, and a face mask kept most of her features hidden, but with that oversized old-model camping backpack, she looked like someone on a paid vacation who decided to spend it hiking and catching wildlife. Despite this, she flashed him a ridiculously high clearance League ID, and ordered to give her a tour of the place. Ugh, maybe she WAS hiking, and the higher-ups sent her here in the middle of the vacation?

"Okay, so let's start it from the top. Explain what you've been up to here," she ordered, as they made their way through the corridors.

"Well, despite the delays in Project Seer due to-"

"I said from the top. Explain it as if this is the first time anyone's supposed to hear about it at all."

Either she didn't bother reading the documents about this facility, or she was testing him to see, if there were any parts in Yakamino's explanations that would discredit them. Judging by her throwing constant evaluating glances at everything and everyone they passed, it was probably the second one.

"The Honnoji facility is dedicated specifically to the development of Project Seer, with the goal of creating a system that would allow us to predict any and all disasters, be it natural or manmade, over multiple prefectures. The development is done in four stages: selection, conditioning, enhancement and verification. The first stage, which is now complete, consisted of choosing a specimen that both had highly precise predictions, and was able to withstand the stress necessary for the further steps. The second stage, which we are currently going through, consists of conditioning the specimen to be able to make predictions on demand. The third stage, which we are very close to entering, consists of a series of cybernetic and bioengineered enhancements to allow Project Seer to operate 24/7. Finally, the fourth stage consists of verifying the results, and making sure there are no discrepancies in the predictions."

This wench was probably looking for a reason to shut down their facility, despite all the blood and tears that went into making Project Seer a reality. Hell, she probably thought they were doing absolutely nothing except for leeching off their paychecks. Well, he had a pretty damn easy way to prove it was not the case.

As they reached and entered his office, Yakamino approached his work PC, and went through three layers of verification to unlock it, before gesturing towards the seat.

"Since we only have a local network due to security reasons, this is a golden opportunity for you to check what we've been up to. Even the stuff that does not get into the weekly reports."

THIS is why he and Tarano were both adamant about keeping every interaction on the local network highly professional. Kicked out quite a few staff members that could not help themselves too. No birthday emails, no personal talks, only cold, hard data going every possible way dozens and hundreds of times per day. Due to their slow progress, Tarano was expecting some sort of a surprise inspection for months now, and having the hard evidence that every scientist on their payroll was racking their brains against their current plateau was downright crucial.

The League official checked several of his emails, then files on Project Seer, then a few of his theories. He could not see her expression behind the mask, but seeing how furrowed her brows were, this info was clearly beyond her levels of scientific knowledge.

"This… 'Conditioning stage'… Could you explain it, and the issue with it in layman's terms?" her eyes flickered to Yakamino. Seems like he was spot on.

"Sure. The remaining specimen showed a great promise due to the pinpoint precision of its predictions, and high physical stress resistance. However, it had also shown signs of mental resistance against providing said predictions. Due to it being a Dark type, we can't employ any Psychic type control, so we were experimenting with less straightforward and more conventional brainwashing techniques and solutions. In fact, today we were planning to test a brand new synthesised drug that, according to our theories and previous test, should allow for just that. Do you want to present during its testing?"

Now, it was usually a bad idea to invite League officials to tests like this one. If anything went wrong, or there were no results, the optics could've been quite bad. However, the wench had already seen some of his last emails, and was surely aware of these tests taking place today. Showing her that they indeed were constantly busy would've probably outweighed any negatives of her presence.

Instead of replying, she brought up the map of the facility for some reason, and sent it to the printer.

"Oh, uh, yeah, just be sure not to bring the map outside. Security protocols, I'm sure you understand," he tried to smile.

"Don't worry about it," she noted, then pulling some sort of a box out of her pocket, opening it, and pressing the only big, red button on the inside. Then the box was closed, and shoved back into that same pocket, whatever that had accomplished.

A mere moment later, Yakamino was dead.

[Part 3]

Scientist's body slumped to the ground, blood oozing out of his head.

She shuddered, suppressing an urge to either throw up or to start wailing on the body.

The shit she had just read was still lingering in her mind.

'White room containment did not produce the desired results. While the subject has shown clear signs of mental deterioration due to sensory deprivation, the results were not as fast as our theories suggested, subject strongly refuses to cooperate. According to adjusted prognosis, it would take years for the desired results to be achieved. Cancelled due to the time constraints.'

'Waterboarding did not produce the desired results. The subject shows increasing signs of aquaphobia, but strongly refuses to cooperate. Cancelled due to accumulating lung damage.'

'Despite the initial promise, shock therapy did not produce the desired results. Subject starts disassociating, but still strongly refuses to cooperate. Cancelled due to accumulating organ damage.'

'Drug-induced sleep deprivation did not produce the desired results. Despite the shown signs of rapid mental deterioration, the experiment had to be stopped prematurely due to the subject going berserk'

And this was in just a few notes she had seen.

Whoever was responsible for this facility, was pure evil. Whoever was working here was pure evil. The guy in charge, Tarano Jubei, was pure evil. It was nauseating. She HAD to wipe this entire place out.

Good thing she was able to activate a Realitybox before proceeding with that.

Sighing in an attempt to calm herself down just a bit, she picked the printed out map of the facility, and checked it one more time. Hm, yes, it was built specifically to have as much ground between the entrance and the holding cell, meaning clearing it out would not require wandering around too much. Going back to the entrance, and then into the heart of the facility seemed to be the way. A Realitybox usually had around 15 minutes in it, give or take. So she had to make them count.

Power walking out of the doctor whatshisname office, she was met with one of the guards patrolling the corridor. Before his brain could even receive a visual signal of her presence, she already walked behind his back, and then punctured the back of his skull with a jab of the index and middle finger, straight through the helmet. Force equals mass times acceleration, and all.

Without missing a beat, she caught him, and dragged the body into that doctor's office, catching the few falling droplets of blood on the way there, so that there was nothing to imply something even happening here.

Next, she's reached the security room, and applied that same skullpuncturing trick to the few guards manning the cameras, before reaching the entrance, and starting to go through the personnel from there to that doctor's office. A simple sequence of approaching a member of the staff, jabbing two fingers through the back of their head, and then switching to the next one, without any need to hide the bodies anymore. Repeated dozens of times, with searching every single room for stragglers in-between. That took about three minutes since activation. Then she proceeded with everyone from there and up to the containment area, leaving one particular place - the office of Tarano Jubei - for last. She might've done that doctor in too early, but this vile being was just as responsible - if not more so. At five minutes mark since the activation of the Realitybox, she finally entered that office.

Losing seven more minutes at his office might not have been wise, but it did help her calm down somewhat.

After that, she entered the containment area

Human-wise, there were just three more guards and half a dozen of scientists left, all killed before they could even acknowledge her presence. And just as she allowed the last body to slump to the floor, she looked at the test tube with the only other remaining living being in the entire facility.

"You're the one that contacted me, aren't you?"
