Harry, Ron, and Hermione sit in the grass of the Weasley's yard. Turning to face Harry, Ron asks, "Mate, care to give that new wand a go?"

Shrugging, Harry pulls out the Elder Wand before he and Ron stride away from Hermione. Looking up from her book, Hogwarts A History, Hermione waves her wand as a protective barrier flows from her wand around her. Looking towards Harry, Hermione and Ron gasp as the Elder Wand emits a golden flare around Harry.

"Bloody hell, what was that?" Ron blurts out as the shine fades. Harry looks up as he pulls out his other wand. Frowning, Harry responds, "I don't feel anything from my wand."

Waving his original wand, Harry mutters, "Periculum."

As if he was waving a normal stick, nothing fires out of the tip of the wand. Walking over to him, Ron asks, "Mind if I have a go?"

Handing his original wand to Ron, Harry steps back as Ron raises it and casts, "Aguamenti!"

Raising his eyebrow as nothing happens, Ron hands it back to Harry. Confused, both Ron and Harry glance towards Hermione for an explanation.

"I have no clue, you were fine with it after you repaired it, correct?" Hermione ponders.

"I actually don't know, I haven't used either wand since I repaired my old one," Harry replies. Fiddling with his wand, Harry replies, "I can just ask Ollivander when I head into Diagon Alley."

"Why're you going to Diagon?" Ron blurts out curiously.

"I'm a professor now and have to have a book list for incoming students and need to start planning lessons," Harry groans out. Grinning at Ron, Harry smirks, "Want another arse handing?"

Snorting, Ron paces away from Harry and mockingly bows, "Scared Potter?"

Mind racing back to the failed dueling lessons Lockheart taught during Second Year, Harry cooly replies, "You wish."

Raising the Elder Wand, Harry acts first as he casts, "Stupefy!"

A bright red jet of light soars towards Ron as he cries, "Protego!"

Instead of absorbing the stunning spell, the shimmer of light shatters as the red jet pierces through the magical barrier before slamming into Ron's chest.

Eyes wide, Harry rushes over as he waves his wand over Ron. Coughing as he reawakens, Ron grins up before saying, "I didn't try. Let me go again."

Hesitantly taking his place again, Harry quickly casts another stunner as Ron waves his wand conjuring the magical shield in front of him. Instead of piercing the shield, the spell slams into the barrier before the shimmer of light shatters. Panting as sweat forms on his forehead, Ron wipes his face before flicking his wand and crying, "Petrificus Totalus!"

Waving his wand in front of himself, Harry simply responds with, "Protego."

Instead of the spell dissipating around the shimmer of light, the gray jet bounces off the shield as Harry waves his wand towards Ron. The gray jet of light sails towards Ron as he looks on in shock. Hastily conjuring another shield before the spell slams into him, Ron staggers backwards from the force of the spell.

"What in Merlin's-" Ron starts before Hermione glares at him.

Whipping her head towards Harry, Hermione nags, "As Ronald was saying, what was that?"

"I have genuinely no clue Hermione," Harry responds as he twiddles the Elder Wand between his fingers. Glancing towards Hermione and Ron, Harry asks, "Care to do a two versus one? See what this thing can do."

Ron and Hermione glance at each other before raising their wands towards Harry. Hermione jabs her wand forward as she silently casts Flippendo. The purple jet of light slams into Harry's Protego as he waves his wand, silently animating farm tools to soar towards the duo opposing him.

Raising his wand, Ron blasts the charmed tools away as Hermione presses her attacks. Harry calmly blocks each spell before responding with his own jinxes and charms. Ron, turning to face Harry as the last of the tools falls into the field of grass, waves his wand before a jet of water splashes Harry's chest.

Attention turned to Ron, Harry raises his wand as a stunning spell from Hermione reaches his shield. Flicking his wand towards Ron, Harry whips the tip through the air as he calls, "Petrificus Totalus!"

Ron, raising to block the redirected stunning spell, staggers back once more before his eyes widen as the gray jet petrifies him. Hermione looks down at Ron before a light red spell slams into her wrist, dislodging her wand from her grip.

Handing Hermione her wand with a grin as he reverts the petrifying spell Ron endured, Harry quips, "I guess it's doing well, yes?"

"Bloody hell mate, yeah, you battered 'mione and I up," Ron chuckles as Harry helps him to his feet.

"So, I've been wondering, Harry, what will you be teaching us?" Hermione asks.

Harry shrugs before responding, "I dunno really, I was planning on staying in the Leaky Cauldron as I spend a few days reading books in Flourish and Blotts."

Checking the watch the Weasley's gifted him, Harry looks up at Ron and Hermione before saying, "I'll also probably not tell you guys about my lesson plans to keep things fair between the students."

Beaming at Harry, Hermione replies, "I wouldn't think of cheating!"

Face softening, Hermione sighs, "What'll you do about Ginny?"

Confused, Harry asks, "Ginny? What about her?"

Glancing towards Ron, Hermione nervously informs, "According to the rumor of the mill, she got back together with Dean during the past school year."

The jealous monster deep in Harry's stomach awakes once more after a year and a half of dormancy. Harry, voice holding a cool tone, asks, "What? Explain."

Face flushed red, Hermione mutters, "I mean, you can't be too mad right Harry? You and her broke up during Dumbledore's funeral afterall."

Sighing loudly before closing his eyes, Harry responds, "I guess. Is she happy?"

"Oh Harry!" Hermione exclaims as Ron wraps an arm around her, "She was scared, everyone was. It seems like they're really happy. Just don't brood over it, promise!"

Giving a half smile towards Ron and Hermione, Harry responds, "I'll try."

Clearing his throat, Harry changes the subject, "It's getting late, I'll be off to the Leaky Cauldron to start reading and planning lessons."

Nodding, Ron pats Harry on the back before Hermione squeezes Harry. Stepping outside of the fields onto the dirt road, Harry waves his wand before apparating outside the Leaky Cauldron with a loud pop.

-Line Break-

"Mr. Potter, what a pleasure to see you again!" Tom smiles as Harry steps into the Leaky Cauldron.

Smiling back at Tom, Harry asks, "It's great to see you too Tom! Got a spare room?"

"Of course Mr. Potter! Right this way!" Tom sets down the rag he was holding before sauntering towards Harry motioning him to follow himself up the stairs.

Walking up the stairs, Harry accidentally bumps into a witch descending the stairs. Looking down as the witch rubs her rear as she glares up through the blonde hair covering her face, Harry sputters out, "Ah! Sorry!"

Focusing on the face of the man who knocked her down, Daphne's glare softens as she shakes her head, "Watch where you're going Potter."

Turning to Tom as she stands up, brushing her muggle jeans, Daphne asks, "What's for dinner Tom?"

"Lamb roast Ms. Greengrass," Tom smiles at her before motioning Harry to continue.

Opening the door to the room above Daphne's, Tom smiles before saying, "This'll be seven sickles a night Mr. Potter. Breakfast from six to ten and dinner from four to nine. Enjoy your stay!"

Taking the key from Tom's hand before closing the door, Harry looks up to see Erol slamming into the window. Pulling the window up and cupping the owl in his arms, Harry sees a small bag with a letter.

Taking the letter in his hand, Harry releases Erol back into the air to return to the Weasleys before he opens the letter.

You forgot your clothes and your belongings. They're in this charmed bag.

-Hermione

Smiling, Harry closes the window before setting the lightweight, magical bag onto the desk in his room. Opening his door, Harry's stomach rumbles before descending the stairs into the main parlor of the building.

"Harry Potter!" A voice cries out as a young witch stumbles towards him eagerly. Shaking his hand, the witch praises, "Thank Merlin for what you did! I can get my wand back!"

Eyes darting to the pair, Harry awkwardly smiles and shakes the witches hand before simply stating, "Dark wanker wanted me dead. Just doing my best to live, you know."

Blushing at the proximity to Harry, the witch shakes her head, "You don't know what you did for us muggleborns."

A roar of agreement is heard throughout the pub as many people stand to praise Harry. Awkwardly laughing, Harry coughs, "Thanks? I just did what anyone would do honestly."

A sigh of relief exits Harry as his stomach rumbles softly in hunger. The crowd chuckles before the patrons slowly disperse back to their seats and meals. Looking around, Harry strides towards the bar and sits down before telling Tom, "I'll have a butterbeer with fish and chips."

Nodding, Tom waves his wand as a mug flies from a cabinet to under a tap. Golden ale-like liquid flows into the wooden mug as a soft, feminine voice calls out, "Hope no one's sitting here Potter."

Turning around, Harry smiles as Daphne slides onto the bar stool next to him. "Nope, all yours."

As Tom turns towards the pair while the mug of butterbeer soars in front of Harry, Daphne quips, "I'll have a butterbeer and some lamb chops please."

Tom smiles and nods before flicking his wand once more while turning towards the door to greet an entering party. Daphne looks at the amber liquid in Harry's mug before asking, "What brings you here then Potter?"

Taking a sip and glancing towards the two wizards entering the pub, Harry replies, "Nothing much. Just rese-"

"There he is!" A cry calls out before a jet of green light soars towards Daphne. Quickly acting, Harry banishes a stool in the path of the curse causing a loud crack of wood to echo through the old pub.

Shrieks of fear course through the room as someone races upstairs. Glaring towards the two wizards, Harry's eyes widen as another green curse flies towards him. Rolling out of the way, Harry grips the Elder Wand before banishing multiple stools into the aggressors.

Grunts of slight pain release from the wizards before the one closest to the door falls down on his back after a red jet of light slams into him. Following the trajectory of the spell, Harry's eyebrow raises as he smiles at Daphne, her wand raised.

"Potter! Focus!" Daphne yells as she summons a mug to intercept a purple curse shot at Harry. The mug crumples into a ball of wood as Harry focuses back towards the last wizard. Raising the Elder Wand once more, Harry jabs it towards the figure. Spears of lightning slam into the wizard as he convulses on the floor in pain.

Cooly walking up to the figure, Daphne waves her wand and calmly calls, "Stupify."

As the jet of light slams into the body, aurors burst through the front and back doors with their wands raised. Pocketing their wands, Harry and Daphne raise their hands as aurors scan the room and repair the mess.

Turning towards Daphne, Harry chuckles, "Pretty sure I said this already, but what comes next?"
