Sonja on a quest
Chapter five
Hi guys. So this is a redo of my story 'into the woods.' I started it like 5 years ago and wanted to get back to writing because, once again I have gotten into the writing spirit and have been watching LotR a lot lately. I would have continued my older story, but my writing style has changed and the way I wanted the story to go has also changed.
Last but not least, This is a Legomance. It wont be rated M much later in the story. Will put up a warning on each chapter when the Mature themes kick in.
Again, this is a redo of MY story, Into the woods with the same character. All i own is miss Sonja Jackson.
Thank you again for reading and reviewing and adding this story. Best wishes.

Another week had past and Sonja had gotten more comfortable with the guys, especially Legolas. The two had kept up their game of questions. Sonja was still surprised that he would be so open with her. She thought she would have to save that for a question. She guessed since he lived for such a long time, that he wouldn't mind sharing. Either way, she was happy because it passed the time greatly. She wasn't as home sick that much as the days went by. She pushed going back home to the back of her mind and just lived in the moment for now. They had ran into anything crazy, and she was thankful. She had no idea what she would even do. Boromir was helping the Hobbits with some training. She wanted some too. At least the basics. She was too nervous to ask.
She didn't know how he would react to her asking if he could teach her some. Sometimes Aragorn would chip in here and there. More as a spectator. They were resting among a piece of land that was surrounded by rocks and bushes and half dressed trees. She sat next to Frodo and Sam as they watched Pippin and Merry take their turns with Boromir. They were getting the hang of their swords and getting faster with moving their feet and arms in unison. She was trying to memorize in her mind the steps and moments of their bodies for when it was her turn. It was the best she could do at the moment since she didn't want to ask for the help.
She decided to get up and stretch. It helped keep her limber and keep the aches away, for the most part. She watched Legolas as he kept his eyes on the horizon. She could tell he was concentrating all around him. She often wondered what it would be like to be an Elf. It almost seemed liked they had it all together and lived without any problems. She went back to focus on her stretching. They had about an hour or two before they had to head off again and Sonja also wanted to get a light nap in. She was still struggling not being able to take naps when she wanted since they were constantly on the move. After she finished up her stretches, she got her stuff and her pack ready into a makeshift pillow so she could close her eyes, but Legolas stopped her. She was happy and annoyed at the same time. She took her sleep time seriously.
"Hey, everything okay," Sonja asked. Legolas nodded his head.
"All is well, but something has been bothering me." Sonja didn't move a muscle. She never knew what any of her male companions would come out and say. Especially the Hobbits. They would say some off the wall things sometimes.
"Oh?"
"I think it's time for you to know how to use your sword. The longer we're on this journey, the probability of us running into danger goes up as the days pass by." Sonja smiled.
"Can Elves read minds too?" Sonja thought it was funny how she was just thinking about wanting to learn weapon knowledge. Legolas chuckled.
"Not many. But they have been practicing for some time now."
"Does that mean I have to ask Boromir myself," Sonja asked in a dreadful tone. Legolas hesitated for a quick second before answering.
"You can ask him, or I could help assist. Though, I will admit I'm not much of a teacher."
"I feel more comfortable with you anyway," said Sonja honestly. "I'll help you with your teaching skills." Sonja liked to joke around with Legolas the most because of the facial expressions he'd make. You never knew what his face was going to turn into. Legolas laughed at her joke.
"Very well then." Legolas was glad to hear it that she wanted him to teach her. He would at least get many of the basics down for her to use if the time ever came. More likely when the time came. It was only a matter of time. He knew it to be true. The more they traveled the more certain danger was to come.
"So when do you think-" Sonja was cut off by the look Legolas gave. He ran over and hoped onto one of the bigger boulders. She looked over to what he was looking at and was shocked to see a dark black cloud. She thought it weird to be moving fast. She never seen a fast moving cloud before. She walked a little closer to get a better look.
"What is that," asked Sam that stood next to her.
"Nothing," Gimli had grumbled. "Just a wisp of cloud."
"It's moving fast. Against the wind." Everyone was staring at whatever it was coming towards them. Sonja sure didn't know what to think of it. She thought it to be normal till Boromir had spoken up.
"Crebain from Dunland," Legolas shouted out. Sonja didn't know what that was and it sounded scary. She stood still as everyone started scrambling. She started to move it the shock wore off. Legolas grabbed her and brought her into a nearby bush. She tripped over her own feet as he did his best to hide them. His body was just about on top of hers and she couldn't help but notice how strong his body felt. She didn't think him to be muscular at all. She thought he was just tall and slim. Even though they were in danger, she couldn't help for her mind to be somewhere else. Though the birds squawking above made her come to her senses sooner than later.
"Sorry," Legolas whispered to her. He pulled her up and got her to her feet.
"Spies of Saruman," Gandalf spoke with worry. "The passage south is being watched."
"what does that mean," Sonja asked very confused on what was going on. Did it mean they were to soon go underground.
"It means we must take the Pass of Caradhras." Gandalf looked up to the snow top mountains. Sonja gulped. She didn't think they'd be traveling that snowy mountain so soon. She was not adapted for the cold and hated the snow. She only liked to look at the snow from afar.
"We leave in 30 minuets. Gather your things together quickly." Sonja groaned to herself. She wanted to take a nap and was no where near ready to go hiking up a snow covered mountain. She looked at Legolas wondering when he would be able to start teaching her. How was she ever to learn in the snow?
Two days later, Sonja and the fellowship were up in the mountains. While Sonja did hate it, she did like the air up here. They were high up and the air felt so crisp. They wasn't walked deep in snow yet, so Sonja took the time to make sure she didn't wear herself out. She kept her jacket zipped up tight and the extra blanket Aragorn had given her, she kept herself wrapped up. When she was cold, she couldn't help but to shiver. Her feet stayed nice and warm, thanks to her $130 boots. Finally, something that had been worth the money when she bought them.
She and everyone was worn out as another day had passed. It was getting colder and a bit harder to breath. Frodo had a little tumble and to make things more awkward, Boromir was being weird with the ring. Just about everyone was close together up front while the two men and Frodo were a little behind. Sonja wanted to go hide in a corner with how awkward it all felt. Embarrassing. They all tracked on and struggled as the snow got deeper. Legolas was the only lucky one that could walk atop the snow and it seemed the cold didn't bother him.
"Must be nice," she kept whispering to herself. She was cold and tired and the Hobbits couldn't walk anymore. The snow was pretty much swallowing them. Aragorn and Boromir held them up. Sonja felt bad for the Hobbits since they didn't have any shoes. Must be dreadful. Gimli was braving the snow and wouldn't accept any help. Must be a dwarf thing.
Sonja stayed near Gandalf and helped to keep a path for everyone to move through. She had to end up tying the hood of her jacket and the blanket so she could keep her hands free. She ended up using her beanie from her pack to use as gloves for her hands. Helped a little to at least keep the snow away from her hands. She could barely move them, but she still made sure to help as much as she could. Her legs were sore as she moved the snow along while Gandalf used his staff to keep pushing on. Legolas ran ahead of everyone and mentioned to Gandalf about hearing a voice.
"It's Saruman." There was a crack at the top of the mountain. Sonja looked up in horror as she watched big ass rocks start to fall from above. She clung to the side wall of the mountain for dear life. She expected the snow and the cold. Not rocks falling from above like as if she was driving back home in the mountains.
"He's trying to bring down the mountain," yelled out Aragorn. "We must turn back."
"No!" Gandalf stood tall and started to yell out in another language she did not know. She could now hear the dueling voice from far away. She guessed Saruman was the other wizard that had gone rouge. She had forgotten all about him. His name didn't click with her back when the birds had passed by, but now it was coming together. She saw the clouds up above get darker and darker with every second that passed. Legolas came and stood next to her and told her to get closer to the wall. Another lightning strike hit the mountain and and made the snow up above come crashing down. Legolas grabbed Gandalf last minuet while making sure Sonja wasn't too close to the edge. She let out a quick scream as she and everyone else was buried. She clawed her way out the snow with the help of the Elf and the wizard. Never in her life had she had such a near death experience.
"We must get off the mountain," shouted Boromir. "Make for the Gap of Rohan and take the West road to my city."
"The Gap of Rohan takes us too close to Isengard," retorted Aragorn.
"If we cannot pass over the mountain. let us go under it. Let us go through the Mines of Moria." She knew Gimli was really gungho for the mines. He had been bugging Gandalf about it for the past few days. Gandalf looked deep in thought before he spoke.
"Let the ring bearer decide. Frodo?"
"We will go through the Mines," he said without hesitation.
"So be it." That's when Sonja knew they were in some deep shit. She knew what waited for them and she wasn't allowed to say anything. Even if she could, she'd be too scared to say anything. She couldn't fight yet and that worried her. What was she suppose to do? She had to either rely on what she memorized from Boromir teaching the Hobbits or come up with a plan to stay hidden in a corner. Whatever came first.
A little late, but had a crazy weekend. Hope everyone is being safe that was hit by the snow storms. Next chapter I will try to make longer. A week and a half and i'll be giving birth, and will be away from the computer for awhile.
