Sonja on a Quest

Chapter seven

I'm baaaaaaack. saw a review and just had to get back to writing. Okay this time, i will have to stay on top of this story.

happy reading young ones.

We had been walking and walking and walking. At this point it just felt like we were wandering around. It was hours ago when we last heard any signs of orcs or goblins. A couple of them had caught up with us, but were shot down swiftly from Legolas's arrows. Ugh he was the best. Every time I thought about him, it felt like I was fangirling. The movies didn't do him justice. No hate for Orlando bloom. He is still fine.

But alas, we were on this important life or death quest and everyone had their own role to play, and I was just Sonja. Some girl who got lost in the woods and now I was here. Whether this be a dream, a coma, or real life for me. I was here living in this literal fantasy land. Having a tiny slice of hope that maybe the Lady of the wood would somehow give me her sweet juju to get home. No matter how good looking Legolas was, I was still home sick and wanted to be in my bed watching my favorite shows and eating god knows what.

"Stay close young Hobbits," Gimli said. The four were all gathered close to him.

"They say a great sorceress lives in these woods. An Elf-witch." I swear if he lived back where I was, he'd be that crazy uncle with all the crazy conspiracies. I chuckled at my comment.

"Whatever is making you laugh," I heard Boromir ask from behind me. I shook my head.

"Nothing," I squeaked out. He was nice, but could be so serious a little too much. He mumbled something under his breath, but I couldn't hear him. I watched as Legolas and Aragorn were searching the forest as we walked. They looked at the trees as they were looking at family. Hmm. Like I said, a literal fantasy land, because who does that?

I looked up just in time to see an arrow pointed in my face and an Elf on the giving end. I gulped. I knew it would be alright, but it's still nerve racking to have an arrow pointed in your face.

"A dwarf breathes so loud we could have shot him in the dark." Are all the Elves here just good looking or what? Like seriously. I looked up at Legolas, and in true Legolas fashion he also had his bow out on the ready. Aragorn spoke in their native tongue to try and reason with the head honcho Elf. All arrows went down when he gave his warriors in waiting the signal. I learned his name was Haldir. Kind of a familiar face.

He led us further into the woods, but of course we had an even harder time when he wouldn't lead us to the lady Elf, whose name escapes me. They have been going back and forth for the past hour. It had gotten darker and I was ready to hit the hay. I was tired and dirty. We all were. I looked up at Legolas for the 100th time. He was tense as he was also looking back and forth between the pair debating. He looked down at me and gave me a small smile since I was looking up at him.

"What are they saying," I asked bluntly. His eyes got slightly wider at my question.

"No need to worry your mind about that. But if you must know, I think Aragorn is making progress." I scoffed.

"It's been over an hour!" Right on que, Haldir came right over to the rest of us.

"You will follow me."

"Told you," Legolas whispered in my ear. I curled my toes as his voice trailed off into my brain waves. Literally felt like velvet rubbing my insides. It was short lived when they said we had a day of walking ahead of us. So close yet so far till I can have a proper bath and a nice sleeping spot.

"With every step you take, you step closer to destiny." It was a soft voice trailing along my ears with the wind. I looked around to see if anyone else heard what I did. "Two paths lie ahead of you. What would you choose, I wonder?"

"Umm, hello," I asked inside my head. Nothing else was spoken. Well that was weird. Was I going crazy? Have I been here too long and now it's taking a toll on my mind? I looked around. I couldn't ask these guys. They would most definitely think I was crazier than they originally thought. As far as hearing voices, I didn't know if it was a good or bad thing here. Perhaps both.

For the most part it was quiet. You hear all you would hear is our footsteps and the random mumbles of Gimli and a few out of the Hobbits. I wanted to talk to Legolas, but we were surrounded by Elves and I didn't feel comfortable knowing that they could possibly hear my conversations. For the most part I sang to myself and made up different scenarios of my random thoughts. I did think about the wizard that had just dropped off the face of the earth. Literally. That would be a long return before anyone would see him again.

There were only so many things I could think of to do or to think. Man, and I thought car rides were boring. This was unbearable. At least when it was just us we had all kinds of things to say and do. The random games I had never heard of. I missed it. Being around a bunch of different guys wasn't so bad. Except for this case. Being around a bunch of males and other males that took their positions so seriously.

After a quick night of sleep and setting out in the early morning, we had finally made it and wowza. It was beautiful. The trees alone made you want to rip your hair out, it was so beautiful. Then of course stairs. We had to climb all the way up the top of the trees. The trees that were as tall as skyscrapers. Yay. Left without a choice, we made the rest of our journey, mainly me out of breath. Everyone was in awe.

Then she came. In the darkness, there was light. Now I could see why Gimli was making such a fuss. Probably would have ensnared me too. She was like that fish, with that very bright light, just watching and waiting to strike. At least that's what I envisioned. I gave a small smile as the Elf woman descended down with her… husband. Right. Her husband. I wasn't sure of her name, but I was sure I was soon to find out. The man started off in a very stiff tone.

"The enemy knows you have entered here. What hope you had in secrecy is now gone." Well that was a bummer. My smile dropped down from my face quickly. Hell, even Aragorn couldn't hide his disappointment.

"Ten there are here, yet nine there were set out from Rivendell. Where is Gandalf? For I much desire to speak with him?" Yeah get in line.

"Gandalf the Grey did not pass the borders of this land. He has fallen into shadow." Her voice was so soft and sweet. I almost forgot why we were even here.

"He was taken by both shadow and flame," Legolas spoke up. "A Balrog of Morgoth." Legolas explained what happened within Moria. Something I really wish to forget. She went on to talk in riddles and metaphors and spoke very eloquently in her figurative speech. That was the way of the elders here in Middle Earth. I of course was on par with the simplistic speech along with the Hobbits. I stood there awkwardly, knowing that I shouldn't be here. I heard Boromir sniffle in the back. Odd.

"The quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little and it will fail, to the ruin of all." She looked around and her eyes landed on me and she gave a faint hint of a smile.

"Yet hope remains." Oh boy did I feel small right at that moment. I could feel eyes bore into my skull. She then looked at each individual. Thank God.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Go now and rest…" she said the magic words. I didn't care to hear anything else. I wanted to relax and not think about anything that had happened.

"Sonja. I am pleased to see you have made it into the safety of our woods." Oh, so that was her voice. and she knows my name. Lady..

"Galadriel." Oh good, someone finally said her name.

"Lady Galadriel. Thank you." I didn't know what else to say, so I left it at that.

"Whatever it is that you need, will be offered to you. Do not let your minds grow weary. Lady Sonja Jackson. If you could follow me." I looked around.

"M-me?" She nodded as she left her husband's side and took off to her right. "Yeah. Yeah okay." I ran after her awkwardly. She was very tall and was fast on her feet.

"So uh, Lady G. Do you mind if I call you that? Cause if you don't I can totally just call you.."

"Hush, child," she said with a whimsical tone to her voice. She looked at me with a small smile. "Now we have much to talk about, but first I leave you In the hands of some of my hand maidens."

"Yes. I could definitely use a very strong bath. Thank you."

"I will come to collect you when you are finished, and then you will be able to accompany the rest of your comrades." I nodded as two young Elves came to swoop me off my feet. Almost literally, and escorted me down some more stairs to a private room. They helped to get rid of all my dirty clothes and whisked me to the other side of the room into the deep bathtub.

"Thank you, girls. If I could be alone for a while. Just to keep up with my thoughts." The two nodded.

"Here is a dress for you. We will be back to help you. Just say the word, and we will appear. I was going to ask them how they would know, but I remembered they could hear from afar. Would have loved that when I was in school.

After sitting in the tub for about an hour of crying, talking to myself, sitting in agony on the prospect of going home, I was finally ready to get out. I was shriveled like the prunest of raisins. My hair smells great, and my body has been lathered to the Gods. This is what I had been longing for.

The room was still warm and made me feel safe. Aww man, it was like a cat's dream. I eyed the purple dress. Hopefully it was my size. I did need a bar though. Even after walking for ages, I still had enough boob for everyone to go around. Now where was my pack? I took a towel and wrapped it around tightly, and walked over to the door to stick my head through and call on the hand maids.

When I did, my eyes locked with Legolas who had just rounded a corner. My cheeks got hot and my throat almost made me choke on my own spit. He turned around quickly and apologized. I noticed that he was also in a change of clothes. Very silver and made the moonlight dance off of him.

"Forgive me. I had come to check on you and make sure you were alright." His back was really tense. Probably as tense as me locking my jaw damn near.

"Oh no… I was just looking for the handmaidens. If you see them, could you send them in? Also, have you seen my pack?" He still had his back to me and he began to step backwards. My heart was thudding in my chest. I'm sure I looked like a fish out of water. He stretched his arm to reveal he indeed had it.

"I also wanted to return your things to you." He was close, but not close enough that I could touch him if I wanted to.

"Ohh yess thank you. I really needed it." I stepped out a little to try and grab a hold of it, but tripped over my own feet. He quickly turned and caught me. His eyes dared not to leave mine. I felt the pressure of his grasp around my waist. He still held onto my backpack in the other hand. I could just die of embarrassment. This has never in the existence of me being alive has ever happened to me. What was this, a romantic comedy movie?

"Sorry," I whispered. He straightened us both up as I could feel the uncomfortable strain in my back at this awkward position. He still hadn't said anything.

"Clumsy me," I laughed nervously. His eyes, still not leaving mine. He gave a small smile and nodded.

"Always the case with mortals." Was that a joke? Was he joking with me because he was uncomfortable, or had the sting of the situation finally worn off and he could be comfortable again?

"Well, we can't always be graceful, now can we?" I don't know what would be worse. Almost falling flat on my face in front of a stranger, or someone that I knew on a friend level and that friend just so happens to be very handsome and you happen to have a crush on.

"I better hurry and tell them I'm ready or else they probably think I drowned in the tub." Legolas looked over in the corner and smiled to himself.

"We will all be in the roots of the trees. All the way at the bottom."

"Thanks," I swallowed and quickly entered the room and shut the door. Shit, my backpack. I opened the door again and Legolas held it out on his two fingers for me to take. I stiffened out a laugh and took it.

"Thanks." I quickly shut the door holding in my breath. I heard his footsteps walk away as two new footsteps came clapped along the stone. My cheeks became inflamed again as they were probably in the corner that Legolas had been looking in.

"Ohhh fu-."
