Prompt: Can you do a Drabble where Julia thanks Deeks for keeping his promise for her to see Kensi again.

"Hey, this is Detective Marty Deeks." Deeks answered his phone while carrying his surfboard back up from the beach, his attention split between it and avoiding a group of teenagers.

"Detective Deeks, this is Julia Feldman. Kensi's mom. I hope it's alright that I called."

"Yes, of course, Mrs. Feldman," Deeks said quickly, to cover his prolonged pause. When he'd given Julia his business card, he'd never imagined she'd actually use it. "Is something wrong?"

"Oh no, nothing like that," she assured him. "And please, call me Julia. Mrs. Feldman sounds so formal."

"Alright, Julia." Deeks reached his vehicle and propped his board against the passenger door. "So, uh, what can I do for you?"

He was tempted to ask why she hadn't called Kensi, but he knew their renewed relationship was still on unsteady ground.

"I wanted to thank you. For helping me see my daughter again. I didn't really believe you could do it, but somehow you managed a miracle."

"Julia, I really didn't do anything," Deeks objected.

"I hadn't talks to my daughter in fifteen years. She trusted you to protect me and then when you said I would see her soon, it happened. I see a common denominator here," she insisted gently.

"I just gave her a nudge," he said. "You know Kensi. She's more stubborn than anyone I've ever met."

"Yes, she is."

"Then you know she never does anything unless she wants to. She wanted to see you again."

There was a significant pause, and then when Julia spoke again, her voice was filled with warmth.

"Kensi's certainly lucky to have you as a partner. I haven't always been there for her, but I'm glad she has you," Julia said.

Deeks found himself oddly embarrassed by her compliments—completely unwarranted in his mind. He cleared his throat awkwardly, brushing back a handful of damp hair.

"Well, Kensi's pretty special," he found himself saying.

"Yes, she is. Thank you, Marty. Thank you for watching out for my daughter."

"Always."
