Sonja on Quest

Chapter eight

Been a crazy couple of weeks, but here it is. Bad storms and losing power over the past week I was trying to write was making me lose my it's okay because I got it back. With Galadriel, it took me a great amount of energy on my part to make sure she came across right in her talking. I just hope I did her justice.

It was a long night after I had met up again with my company. From the singing, the sad looks, the weird looks I got from some of the Elves that would bring us things, and the talking of the hobbits, I was tired. Tossing and turning all night. Also, how can I forget the moment I embarrassed myself to death after that encounter with Legolas. Never in my life had I ever been in that kind of predicament. Ugh, I just wanted to crawl in a hole and die. Maybe poor choice of words, but you get the picture.

I was waiting to talk to Lady Galadriel. I thought it was important, but I guess she had other plans. Aragorn had gone off talking to different important Elves. Probably was trying to see how long we could actually stay here. Once again, it would have been helpful if I actually did pay attention to any of the books or movies. Can't stress that enough.

"What is bothering you?" I looked over to see Frodo staring at me from where he sat. He was abould a good two feet from me.

"Oh, umm. It's complicated," I said truthfully.

"Anything I can help with?" I let out a small chuckle thinking about how he or anyone for that matter could help me with my knowledge problems. Maybe that's why the Lady herself isn't here. She might not even know.

"We'll see what Galadriel comes up with." He nodded.

"I hope it brings you some peace." I gave a weak smile. Shouldn't I be the one asking him if he could use some help or give him words of encouragement? Frodo really was a smart little Hobbit with a big heart. It was sad to think he would never find that peace till he goes off unto the beyond. Whatever it was called.

"It'll be okay, Frodo. You're the bravest person I know." I gave him awkward thumbs up. He looked at me puzzled then formed his mouth into an 'o' shape.

"Ohh. That must be a custom where you're from. Thank you for your kind words." See, smart. We were both left smiling, till I saw that his had fallen. I looked around and my eyes caught the eyes of the Elven Queen. I stood up and took a quick bow, hoping this small gesture would bring good news. She smiled down at me. Wow, it looked like I was looking up at a statue.

"Hi, my Lady," I said in a small voice.

"You have been waiting a long while. Come. For there is much to be seen." She starting walking, not waiting on me to follow along. I gave Frodo a wave and mouthed 'wish me luck,' before I went trailing after her.

"Umm, Galadriel. I'm hoping not to be too blunt, but uh, you got any good news for me."

"In due time all will be revealed to you. We have been waiting."

"I'm sorry, we?" What the hell was she talking about. She didn't say another word as we walked along the trail that led deep into a part of the forest; away from a lot of noise. Bushes and shrubs got thicker as the path got smaller. I didn't know if it was just overgrown or if this was done on purpose. Finally we reached a small structure in a clearing. After I had been stuck with prickles. I then noticed there were a couple of small structures. What was going on back here? Lady Galadriel spoke softly in her native tongue and everything around us lit up.

"Whoa," I breathed. It was like being in your own enchanted garden out of a fairy tail. The structures seems to be made out of large leaves and beautiful white wood. I followed close behind her as she walked inside one of the huts. To my surprise, it was filled with names written on the walls that seemed to glow as well.

"My lady," I questioned?" She inhaled a deep breath and let it out slowly.

"It's all coming back to me." I stood there awkwardly, waiting for her to go on. "Memories of the past. Life. Death." I was about to open my mouth to ask a question, but she spoke out a name.

"Rivanna Olacan."

"Sorry?" She led me over to a large basin that was in the middle of the room. She poured water into said basin and nodded for me to come over to her.

"Will you look into the water?" I nodded, not really sure what I would see. If it was anything that Frodo had seen, I don't know how this whole scenario will turn out. I leaned over with eyes closed and opened them slowly out of fear.

"Rivanna Olacan," she said once more. Images popped up of a girl with long brown hair. She had her back turned as I watched her talking to somebody out of frame. It then jumped to another scene and this time the same girl was putting on some type of armour. She came into focus, and at my horror, it was like I was staring into a mirror. Her mouth moved, but mine did not. What was this being shown to me? I took a quick glance at the Lady. She had a small smile on her face. I looked back down as the girl, or me, was walking with a gang of other Elves. She was an Elf. I could see her ears and the sharpness of her face. It was like my face with a snapchat beauty filter. This must be Rivanna. The name Galadriel was saying.

There were several images of Rivanna talking to different people, most importantly Lady Galadriel. The last picture that came onto scene was her going into battle and fighting like a badass warrior girl. I couldn't help but silently cheer her on. It was cut short however, as I watched her jump in front of a sword that was coming down onto another; a man. He was handsome and human with long blonde hair. Kind of reminded me of Legolas.

"Wait, what happened to her?"

"She was killed. She died of her wounds. Her love and hope helped to keep her alive to see her mate one last time." The look on my face was devastating. It was like I could feel the cold hands of death.

"But why does she..." I was cut off. She already knew what I was going to ask.

"Look like you?" The Elf walked away from the basin and over to her right. "Simply put, I believe she is you. Reincarnated of course." I let out a nervous laugh.

"What? I uh, that doesn't make any sense. Why would I, from another time and place be a reincarnation of someone from here? And more importantly, how does this even help me get home?" Galadriel put her hand on the wall and breathed. There were whispers coming from different directions. It was cold and I was scared all over again. I saw the elf woman's name come right off the wall and into the basin itself. It turned a deeper blue color.

"Dear child, I cannot speak for the universe and why things are the way they are. I can only listen and take haste, and right now this is what's speaking to me."

"Which is?"

"You cannot go home." I looked at her perplexed. "Not until you fulfil your duty here. There a few paths you may choose from, but I can not help you with that. That is only for you to decide. This is who you must become. Just in essence. You are still you, Sonja Jackson. Make no mistake.

"You're telling me the only way I can get out of here is through channeling this Rivanna Olacan person?" She smiled.

"Again, that is a path you must choose. No one else here can make the decision for you. But what would happen if you choose to stay and do nothing. Your life, may become nothing."

"Death," I asked. "But don't I also risk death by venturing on. I know you know that I know some of what is going to happen." Hopefully she caught all of that, cause I was not repeating myself.

"That is only half the journey young one; Is to know. You still have to make the decisions that lie ahead of you." I bit my lip.

"If anything that I have seen has taught me anything, is that I have to drink whatever it is in that bowl? Right?"

"Right you are. Perceptive just like her."

"I guess I'd do anything to get back home. Better than sitting on my hands." She walked back over and whispered. I didn't hear anything she was saying, but I'm sure she was talking Elvish.

"Drink." She waved her hand, and the dark blue liquid swam out of the silver bowl and into a decorative cut. It had roses, skulls, the moon, and the sun. I took the cup and said a little prayer. This has got to be the most weirdest and twisted thing I have ever heard of. At least it wasn't blood. I don't think I could have went that far.

"Here goes nothing." I drank from the cup quickly and instantly felt light headed. Galadriel started speaking in rushed tones. I felt a quick burst of fire throughout my body. I screamed out and clutched my chest. It was a pain I had never felt before. It was then replaced with a rush of ice cold feeling in the tips of my fingers. It hurt to breath, but I kept calm. It was strange. I felt like I could see the stars and the moon on one side, but at the same time the sun was burning bright. I had never been this self aware of my body ever. It was a feeling of being high. I could hear everything all around me. The woods, the voices of my fellowship, the quiet voices of the animals. My eyes rolled back into my head and I could feel myself fall to the floor. Then there was nothing. Blank. I couldn't comprehend anything. I knew nothing. There was nothing. It left like it lasted an eternity.

My eyes flashed open and the first thing I noticed was the face of Rivanna herself. She smiled down at me and helped me to sit up.

"What? Where am I?"

"You are still here. Time and space is keeping you still." Her smile got wider and her eyes lit up. It was so weird staring at someone who looked just like you, but she looked more angelic.

"I give you permission to take my essence in full. You will do great things, Sonja. If you believe it, you can do it."

"You're okay with this? It seems all, unnatural."

"Nothing is unnatural here." She sat down in front of me and took my hands into hers. "I see life in you. bravery. Love. kindness. Strong minded. You will get to the finish of your goal. Believe that."

"Me going home?" She searched my eyes.

"In due time, you will see what needs to be done." With a flash she vanished and was nothing more than a floating bright orb. It handed itself into my chest and I felt a jolt of strength and happiness and so many different emotions I couldn't yet grasp. I smiled as I fell back into unconsciousness. It was dark and I was happy to find a little peace.

I fluttered my eyes open. It felt like waking up after I had smoked some of the devil's lettuce. I had a slight smile on my face. Until I realized that all four of the Hobbits, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, and Aragorn surrounded me. Was I at my own wake? Is this what it would feel like if I woke from the dead.

"Umm, Hi," I whispered out. I didn't trust myself to sit up. I was scared that I would feel all those things I felt during that whole situation back there with Galadriel. Speaking of, where was she? How long had I been out? Why was I so aware of what had happened? Aren't people who usually pass out confused and forgetful when they wake back up?

"Are you okay," Legolas asked in a serious tone. His face and that other guy in that vision bowl was almost warping.

"I think so. Can you help me up?" Legolas and Aragorn both helped me to sit up.

"You gave us a wee scare there lass." I was surprised at Gimli's expressed concern.

"You were out nearly all day," Boromir chimed in.

"All day! How did I even get back here?"

"Lady Galadriel actually carried you in," Pippin chirped in a cheery way. Geez, was I really that short and small for her to carry me? Then again, she knew how to fight and sure did have that Elf strength. "And Legolas brought you over to the spot your in now," he finished. My cheeks hurt from trying to keep the blush that was trying very hard to creep up on my face. I looked his way and all seriousness that was on his face a second ago was now replaced with a mischievous smile.

"Thanks," I said quietly. It was a little silence and Aragorn cut right through.

"I need to talk with Sonja." Right on que everyone took their leave without question.

"I'm guessing the lady told you what happened?" He smiled.

"You are quick. That's what'll make this process quicker." I looked at him to continue. "You may have a new energy source, but it still need to be harness and worked out." I started at him blankly. Okay, now I was confused. "In order for you to even be considered to move on with us is we need to train you. Tomorrow we will begin your training and what weapon you will be best suited for."

"Ohhh. That part. You think I'll be ready? I mean how long do we have till it's time to go?"

"Calm yourself. While we don't have much time, maybe up to a month, as long as you can show swift and confident movements you will be fine and you will continue to train while we continue the mission." I nodded.

"A month. Got it And as long as I don't go crazy and start acting bizarre with practically another person inside of me." He nodded and chuckled.

"It really is an experience. Not many a times is this performed and people survive." My eyes went wide.

"Survive," I gulped. With that he patted my arm.

"Get some rest. Big day tomorrow." I let out a nervous.

"Yeah, big day indeed."

There you are, chapter eight down. I hope it wasn't a long drawn out read for you guys. I tried to make it as interesting as I could, what I seen in my head. I think I had to rewrite two other times. So now she basically has another Person's life force that is going to help her to become the woman warrior that she can be, and not just a helpless character. Thanks for reading.
